The core battlegroup is at the forefront of every first contact and colonization mission with which the fleet is tasked. The core battlegroup is also well equipped for short and long range recon, as well as search and rescue missions.

The two carrier battlegroups have similar mission profiles to the core battlegroup, although their tasks are somewhat less glamorous. The carrier battlegroups are responsible for conducting extensive surveys of recently discovered systems, and follow-up type diplomatic missions to recently discovered civilizations, client states, and distant colonies. The carrier battlegroups may also be called to conduct short and long range recon, as well as search and rescue missions.

A standing colonization ship allows the Third Expeditionary Fleet to its rapidly mobilize for colonization missions. The ship is stationed at Yamatai, allowing it to be rapidly filled with volunteer colonists just before a colonization mission.

AGRICULTURE GROUP codename Prefecture
The Noujou-class agriculture ship is stationed at Anisa, and provides ample food supplies for the entire fleet, while the leftover supplies are redistributed to the rest of the fleets.

LOGISTICS GROUP codename Market
These ships are responsible for transporting supplies and personnel from Yamatai and other Yamataian planets and ships to the fleet and vice versa. As a deterrent to pirates, these ships are as heavily armed and armored as many other Star Army ships, and frequently travel with unoccupied ships from the Strategic Strike Pool as escorts.
