OOC OIF Salvation Discussion

I'm wondering who all would be interested in an Origin Industries based plot idea I have. The plot would follow an Assayer Class ship as it travels through space performing Search and Rescue as well as Salvage operations for Origin. The plot focus would be more mystery like, with emphasis on finding the cause of anything from strange space phenomenon to tracking down a missing shipping container. Of course there will be opportunities for conflict and such but it wont be as cut and dry as a battle plot.

Power Armor will not be provided in this plot, rather instead vehicles and things like the LEAF will be mostly used. If a character has their own personal power armor then they can bring it if they want though. But since this is not a combat ship it will not provide them.

Along with that, this plot will likely be 18+ in the rating department for the purpose of freedom with the story telling. 18+ content will not be the focus of the entire plot. Also the posting pace will likely be between 5 days and a week.

Useful jobs can be anything really, mechanics, frame pilots, fighter/shuttle pilots, engineers, medics, even cooks. I will try to write the situations to have something for everyone to do. Also any independent can join the plot, they need not be part of origin, they could be contracted on. However no military personnel will be accepted into the plot, because the ship will move between different faction's territories, so make sure you have legal rights to travel anywhere Origin has a store.
 
I am definitely toying with the idea of participating,though I fear I may be overbooked in my previous commitments. :(
 
Well this one is gonna be roughly a 5-7 day pace. Since a lot of plots have gotten active on SARP I figure people will have too many commitments to handle another 3 day one.
 
Hey, I don't suppose you'd care for my old Azorean character Noelani? She one time was a stowaway on the SRSS Yggdrasil and presumably still is galavanting around somewhere... Had a fun Hawaiian/surfer feel.
 
Most independents will be accepted as long as they don't have any real travel restrictions and it makes sense they might be recruited. But if Noelani joined Origin at some point it'd be pretty easy to say she got selected as part of the ship.
 
Yeah, we could say she joined Origin if you are OK with that. Just takes a bit of a wiki page touchup to bring her more current from years ago. She's a good engineer of Rill drones and light flying vehicles too, so that could be valuable to the company.

Besides, no way this wahine wants to head home, she is so totally stoked when shootin' the curls of the galaxy. (yes she talks like that) :)
 
Trying to come up with a good name for the ship, but I'm stumped at the moment so far I only really have OIF Seeker.
 
I dunno if it fits your theme but perhaps something like the Latin Venari/Veneris/Venery, which means "to hunt", as in we are hunting down something. I also like "Lucre" if this is a mission motivated by profit.
 
While the name is pretty good, it doesn't feel right giving a Latin name to an Origin ship when most of their are English named.
 
Yes that's true, I'm not too good with ship names to be honest. Perhaps you could make it 'Seeker', but add an adjective? Like the 'Seeker of X'. Or maybe something like "OIF Opportunity" or even "Serendipity".
 
English language (American Version) is a bastardization of a lot of foreign words adopted into language and slang. Unless Origin prefers European Version of the English Language, which is pretty exclusive or Proper English as the British would like to believe. But even then Language always evolves to fit the times as does music.

How about Inquisitor (person(s) seeking truth or item(s)). My two cents worth
 
Well there is a Serendipity class in Origin ships, so I'd rather avoid that name. But thinking about everything and looking along the lines of 'searching' and saving' what about the OIF Salvation?
 
Ah, so we are going the troubleshooter/savior route. That works just fine, too.

Also, really awesome that your captain character is a Separa'shan! We'll have quite the interstellar group forming here. :) I do need to ask, though, since you're okay with me bringing Noelani in with some edits, what rank would she be at in the corporate payscale?
 
Well depends on when you decide to have them join Origin as well as what branch you want them to be (which will generally be Orisec unless they're an engineer or logistics)
 
Yes, that's why I'm asking because she generally would be considered an engineer or a light duty vehicle pilot. I was going to say she eventually hitchhiked her way over there and then got a job for a few years working as a mechanic for Origin Motor Corporation servicing planes, racing cars or airbikes, and then decided at some point to go back into space again. :)
 
Well the easy way to describe it is, if it's "field work" it's generally Orisec you work for. However if you're servicing places and cards and such that would be the normal origin staff. I'd say you can go upto 'senior employee' with them since they could be there a couple of years and are an already made character and not new.
 
Alright well name is up, everyone who's making a new character can send them through approval under OIF Salvation. I've looked over most everyone's so far, but for a final check send it through there so we can do official approval.
