OOC The Francia Frontier

Did the name get anyone's attention? I sure hope it did. Long story short, I talked all the details over with Fian, and I'm going to take my best shot at the Francia.

For those of you that don't know, the Francia is a unique plot that alternates between military action and shore leave/civilians. It's a slice of life plot that shows both facets of this frontier settlement as it starts out small and over time becomes big. The key defining trait is that players need to have both a civilian and a military character to participate. New players are exempt from this until they feel comfortable having two characters to control however! There will be challenges that only the local military forces can tackle. Support will be limited. There will be shortages of beans, bullets and bandages. It's a struggle to survive out in the wild, wild west!

In a nutshell, it's SARPcraft - forget about pickaxes, grab your assault rifle and fusion cutter/welder as this colony is built and grows!

But before I even get started, I need to see who's on board - raise your hands and clap if you believe!

Unfortunately, I cannot continue this scandalous affair with Francia any more. I have a real Girlfriend who actually pays attention to me. And also takes up most of my free time. So, yeah. sorry.
 
That's perfectly ok Kai, we all got IRL to handle first.

Rolling my sleeves up proper, I've found that the main area where our RP will be taking place, Francia City, is mostly complete. However, the planetary article as well as system article are not. I'll have to get to that as quickly as possible. Right now, I only know that Francia is an iceball located at the lowest ring of Hell and therefore always cold, but other than that, I don't know what the planet and the system it's in is like. I'll need some info on that @Fian so I make sure to get it right. The venues are all player run and are interacted with, or their owners interacted with, during the civilian chapters, but I know Plaidmage has since moved on from us. @Exhack , I need to know if you're still interested in playing in the Francia with Algol. And are you up for playing as Deidre @Soresu ?

I also looked over the list and see @Abwehran Commander , @Blackbird Lore , @Demonblooded and @ShotJon - you guys still game?

As for the actual name of the plot, what would work best? We've always referred to the plot as "The Francia" when discussing it, but what was the plot originally supposed to be named on the forum?
 
I'm pretty sure the plot's name was just "Francia" originally. There is no ship for the military guys to be named after, and outside of that, Francia itself is really the only major identifying feature of the plot. :p

The extremely inhospitable and undocumented parts of Francia is just a GM device to reserve space for future locales as the plot progresses and the planet terraforms (OOC excuse: lazy), you can change the concept and/or planet article to flesh out these areas even before the plot starts if thats your style.

Well, not necessarily all the venues are player run, surely there has to be a candy store on Francia even if no players are running one. Also, to further elaborate, the original requirement was just to have a civvie character, not necessarily a storeowner, could be a service staff in a store or some kind of hobo slacker or even an offworld specialist or visitor. In hindsight though, I should have added an additional requirement that said civvie is at least OOCly intended to be long term resident of Francia to prevent them from running off immediately after the plot ends.

Alright, getting into the swing of things. Depending on how fast I can haul ass, We may get started very soon. For those of you who have been here for a while, raise your hand if there's been any character changes to what was on the original page. If so, I gotta know who the new ones are going to be as soon as it's convenient. If you're no longer going to be able to participate, please tel me too. And if you're a player that's new to this, give me a heads up to who the two characters I'll be receiving are if they're done. If not, time to roll up those sleeves.

And remember, the civilian is going to be settled here, even after the plot is finished.

@Fian - was approval for the plot and pages themselves granted a while back already, or should I go pester Kampfer? I just realized there wasn't a "Not Approved for IC" label or anything.
 
I'm in the process of creating a character. Might take a week to month depending on my schedule, as finals are coming up.
 
Ok, the incredibly legitimate salesman is added. I'm somehow under the impression that "Cute" and "Nepleslian" are mutually exclusive, but then again, Carina did prove otherwise. I can't wait to see what happens - I'd crack up if this combat medic were a complete weaboo.

And Fian, what role is Arin playing for us this time around?
 
@Soresu and @Fian - how are your characters coming along? I need a combat character from Soresu, and from Fian, Carina's rival.

@Semjax - I know you got a bit on your plate right now, but are you still making your character too?
