Well, I'm under the impression that the current weapon template is a little out of date and needs to be brought up to speed.

And yes, I am requesting permission to do so and yes again, I'll be doing all the work. :P

It currently doesn't have a spot for a weapon's damage, and though ammunition could influence a weapon's damage rating, I think it should be hard written into the weapon's article itself. Especially since some weapons don't use 'ammunition' in the conventional sense i.e. energy weapons. It's simply better to have the DR(s) of the weapon on the page itself, rather than forcing players to click and open up another page I believe.

Next, there's no spot for the Standard Nomenclature System to be put in either - this is an issue for me since I'm a tech mod. The SMS is now a requirement on the checklist, so it would make sense to have it have its own little space somewhere.

There's also the lack of detail in regards to the 'Safety', 'Fire Mode Selector', 'Weapon Sight' and so on. It's not exactly clear what the template is asking for - in regards to the fire mode selector, do I say it's a toggle switch or a button? Or do I just list out the modes it has? That needs to be cleared up I think; we don't need any more confusion, that's for certain.

A less minor detail, the 'Appearance' section could use a separate header for the textual description, which is now required by the looks of things.

Overall, I just think it needs to be brought up to date since our tech-approval checklist has changed, and some clarification could be used.

I'd be happy to check out your updated version. In general, ammo should not affect DR because DR is based on weapon type and the range (1 to 5) is not very granular.

When we have decided on the final version I will see about making an auto-formatting template in php like the character one.
