Bernhard Greer is a player character played by Sigma.
Height: 188cm (6 ft, 2in)
Weight: 80kg (170lbs)
Measurements:
Build and Skin Color: Bernhard is a muscular man, trained in years of street combat. He has tanned skin from all the time he has spent out on the streets.
Eyes and Facial Features: Bernhard has dark green eyes. He is square jawed.
Hair Color and Style: He has dark brown hair, cut short so it doesn't block his vision in a power armor.
Distinguishing Features: Multiple body scars from knife and gunshot wounds from years of working security for his family's clinic
Personality: Bernhard is, at heart, idealistic about what Nepleslia is and could be. He knows how flawed its society is, having grown up amongst a community of Streeters. Outwardly, some have described him as uncaring and unemotional. Bernhard describes himself as a reliable person, nothing more. He is extremely serious when on duty and tireless in his efforts, no matter how trivial the task.
He is, nonetheless, passionate about Nepleslia and its role as a major power. Bernhard is not given to boasting or self-promotion and rarely speaks unless spoken to. During his medical training with the Marines, his instructors noted he was extremely methodical and efficient in his procedures and did not skip steps, even if they were to his benefit.
Likes: Swords, knives, guns, chocolate
Dislikes: People who goof off, Nekos
Goals: Be part of the rise of Democratic Imperium

Bernhard's parents are doctors who run a non-profit clinic for the low income families in Nepleslian society. His older brother, Markus, runs the security and acts as a doctor when his parents are too tired. Bernhard's adoptive siblings are both too young to have any place in the clinic yet, though both seem intrigued by the medical work the rest of the family has done. With his brother's time split between overseeing the clinic and helping patients, Bernhard acted as a security guard for the clinic. Most of his efforts were spent finding volunteer guards from among the patients and their families.
During the Street War, the clinic was closed and the family went into hiding, waiting for the chaos to cease. When the Democratic Imperium of Nepleslia was created and order restored, the clinic was repaired and reopened. Due to its charitable nature, funds were always hard to come by. Bernhard wanted to leave to join the military but because the family could not afford a professional security guard to replace him, Bernhard had to put off his plan to join the Marines.
In YE 32, Bernhard's parents managed to acquire enough money to hire a part-time security guard through a reliable agency. This freed Bernhard to join the Marines. Given his family's medical background, he chose to train as a combat medic.
Bernhard was part of 4th Fleet's operations in the Tange system. He played a prominent role in helping evacuate and screen civilians. He was wounded in action by enemy action. For his commitment to his duty, Bernhard was awarded an Iron Fist.
Bernhard participated in 4th Fleet operations at System 87I, where he was wounded at the end. His squad, the Cavaliers, were tasked with breaching an NMX facility and extracting as much data as they could. During this mission, he treated fellow Marines and was forced to evacuate the squad's other medic after she was wounded by enemy fire. When the order was given to fall back due to heavier-than-expected NMX resistance, Bernhard was the first one to obey. This resulted in an accusation of cowardice by a squadmate. Bernhard's response was to suggest lodging a formal accusation.
Following the need for medics in Star Military of the Democratic Imperium of Nepleslia 1st Assault Fleet, Bernhard volunteered for attachment to a 1st Fleet unit for the duration of their upcoming operation. He could also be recalled to 4th Fleet if his skills were needed. Laura Romero and Lisa Simmons spent time with him the night before he departed for 1st Fleet
He is currently on Rok'Veru with the rest of 1st AF.
Bernhard grew up learning how to fight in both armed and unarmed combat. His training in the Marines has, however, given his fighting style a more disciplined approach. He is able to disarm or kill any humanoid opponent.
Before he entered the Marines, he was a skilled pistol shooter. After the completion of basic training, he is also able to use a rifle and shotgun with ease. Bernhard is also capable of piloting any Nepleslian power armour, though its maintenance is something that he leaves to others.
Bernhard is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, ships, ground vehicles, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. He is fluent in Nepleslian. He can speak and write both correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc. The character is skilled in field communications and is proficient in all rudimentary forms of communication (hand signals, flashing lights, etc).
Bernahrd nows how to survive in hostile environments. He can build shelters, hunt and forage for food, build a fire, etc. He can camouflage himself and is familiar with guerrilla warfare tactics.
Bernhard can understand and give out tactical commands and work with his troop to follow those commands efficiently. He knows the importance of teamwork on the battlefield, has been intensively trained in discipline and morale, and is able to recognize the command structure even while under extreme pressure (combat, etc). He is also able to recognize ambush points. Bernhard knows basic math in order to calculate distances, etc, and can use a tactical map.
Bernhard's medical skill does not rival that of his parents or older brother but they are more than that of the average Nepleslian medic. He is able to diagnose diseases as well as wounds. Having spent years watching his parents work in a surgery with minimal equipment, Bernhard has learnt several family techniques for unorthodox (and somewhat dangerous) medical treatment.
At the same time, he is also still a little slow to make use of the military's state of the art equipment due to his greater inexperience with such tools.
