Edjia II Powered Armored Uniform

The Edjia II Powered armor is an upgrade to the Edjia Powered Armor system created in YE 34.

History & Background

The advent of this suit system came about at the beginnings of the invasion of Ether. Light infantry troops were finding that the NMX had soldiers featuring super human strength, that was clearly out classing Gartagen light infantry in open combat. The Gartagen strangely do not sport any form of modified soldier, nor did their scientific community even consider such an option (Considering the secrecy behind the Gartagen Neuro-computers). Gartagen Union Engineers who were on staff, monitoring these reports quickly reacted to these horrifying reports. While the Gartagens are fast and agile, which aided their chances, they could not hope to contest NMX light infantry in CQC. A solution needed to be found to combat this severe handicap.

Prototypes take time to develop, and while the Earth Dancer Exo-suit and Gate Crasher Exo-suit were proving their mettle in combat, they are too expensive, and required weeks of specialized training to hand out to every single soldier in the Union. Using the technology that was perfected by the much larger and highly successful Exo-suit program, it was seen more cost effective to simply upgrade the existing Edjia Ballistic Armor. Engineering the upgrade proved quicker then actually making an entirely new powered armor system, and by adding more parts that increased the bearer's strength, durability, and left him with his natural reflexes and agility, it would require minimal time, and little training to implement this upgrade. The Edjia Powered Armor was born, and there was an attempt to introduce it into the field as the brutal battle.

By YE 34 The Union had brought onboard Heram J. Wazu to assist in their efforts against the NMX. One of the first things he began tinkering with was the Edjia armor, making small adjustments here and there as a starting point for a larger product line and an even larger strategy for expanding the Gartagen industrial base.

About the Edjia 2

Information

The Edjia is a light power armor by comparison to other armors as it is designed to be more of a widely distributed armor for ground soldiers than a high end power armor system. Much like the Edjia 1 the armor enhances the user’s strength, survivability, awareness, and mobility (allowing for jump deployments out of moving craft). The Edjia II offers a variety of usability improvements designed to make the armor part of a system of combat gear. The armor, weapons and handheld gear all share battery types. Exterior carrying cases hold gear for a variety of mission types that the armor might be used in. The end goal is an armor that is superior in quality to anything else in its class, and easy to operate from a logistics standpoint.

Appearance

The upgrade bears little change in the original's appearance. This was intended for psychological reason among Gartagen troopers and soldiers who are used to the existing Edjia armor. The differences in the suit are primary additional parts, and additions, as well as a complete replacement of suit's composite armor plates, to plates composed of Buk the under mesh is still a soft composite, only much thicker to better absorb impacts.

Systems

Sensors and Communication

The Sensors and Communications gear of the Edjia is mainly passive and low energy systems intended to give maximum detecting ability without sending out any active signals that could give away the armor’s location.

ItemNotes
Edjia Networked Relay SystemA suite of cameras and computer equipment designed to increase the awareness of the soldier.
Helmet IR BeaconAn Infared Strobe that can be turned on and off is mounted on the top of the Helmet. This is intended to help avoid friendly fire from units overhead or behind.

Life Support, Power, and Comfort

An entire life support system is included not only to protect the soldier from nuclear, biological, and chemical threats, but to keep them safe and comfortable over the duration of their operations.

ItemNotes
Food and Water The Edjia contains nearly 3 liters of water in a backback and a small storage area for Calorie Paste. Both can be consumed through tubes in the helmet.
Life Support SystemThe Edjia has a life support system capable of generating a gartagen designer atmosphere for a full week before needing to be replaced. The suit can generate its own oxygen and sustain its pilot indefinitely so long as it has power.
Power Supply The Edjia 2 is powered by a rack of 10 Gartagen batteries housed under the armored plate on the back of the armor. These are sufficient to power the armor for two weeks, or less under heavy use.
Waste Removal The armor contains such a system, but the less said about it the better.

Mobility

The Edjia II has the same mobility options as the Edjia. The suit sports two boosters on the user's back pack, and two more behind the wearer's lower legs. These boosters can be used by the user as air breaks, allowing them to drop down from fast moving craft, and to initiate a ground landing. They can also be used to let the user “hop” to heights exceeding 500 feet into the air temporary. The user can also use them to “hover” over the ground at speeds of 120 mph. The armor’s legs also include deployable snow-shoes to aid in crossing difficult terrain.

ItemNotes
Artificial Muscle Replacing the bulky servos of the original Edjia are more flexable strands of artificial muscle. These add nearly 600 kilograms of lifting ability to the armor in addition to what the user can carry normally.
BoostersLow power jets that can be used to slow a fall or make rapid hops over terrain at ground speeds of up to 120MPH.
Snow ShoesA high strength fabric built into the bottom of the feet of the armor can be inflated with compressed air to increase the foot size of the armor, instantly creating snow shoes to help distribute the armor’s weight so that it can cross snowy or muddy terrain with ease.

Protection

The Edjia II uses plates of Buk for protection over the chest, hips, shoulders, and extremities with high strength synthetic fibers used to protect the joints from projectiles and other piercing attacks. Small shield generators are included to protect against scalar attacks, and an enclosed environment protects against nuclear, chemical, and biological threats. Finally, metallic fibers are woven into sensitive areas of the armor to harden it against EMP attacks.

ItemNotes
Buk Armored plates covering important areas. Quick release snaps allow for quick replacement of damaged panels
Synthetic fibers Cloth like material that is highly bullet resistant. Used to allow fexability while still providing some protection
Miniature anti-grav generator A small anti-grav generator that puts out a bearly noticeable anti-gravity field that provides immunity to scalar weapons
Faraday cages metallic fibers woven into key areas of the armor protect it against EMP strikes

Weapons and Gear

The electronics of the Edjia 2 are all designed to be EMP resistant, and to share similar batteries so that a complete resupply of all mission critical gear can be done with just a box of batteries. The non-electronic gear is designed to be similarly robust and contains everything from additional rations to prisoner restraining gear.

itemNotes
M-SAR BThe M-SAR B is a regular M-SAR rifle modified to use a trio of Gartagen batteries in the power magazine.
Xraser pistol B type A regular xraser pistol that has been modified to use Gartagen batteries. It has can be used for many things besides combat, such as rapidly heating up food, or setting fires.
Stun Rod A high voltage stun rod designed for incapacitating targets at close range. Usually strapped to the armor’s utility belt.
Calorie Paste Tubes x14 A semi-tasty, peanut buttery, super-high-calorie snack packaged in tubes. They contain everything a growing Gart needs to survive, though they need to be supplemented with water.
Hardened Datapad An EMP resistant datapad that runs off a single Battery pack.
Zip Ties x 30 Multi-use zip ties with inlaid high strength nanotubes designed to restrain even NH-series weapons
Utility toolMulti-use combat knife, screw driver, can opener, crimping tool, ect.
Spare 1-liter water pack
Medical Kit The gart medical kit
Optics Cleaning Kit Microfiber cloth and cleaning solution
Emergency Beacon x2A Radio beacon designed to mark important locations
Glowstick x6 For marking rooms, providing illumination, and emergency raves
Fiber Optic Cable Camera A gart copy of the CableCam
Small Towel Never be without one
nanotube cable 80 meters of cable wound on a wench attached to the right side of the armor’s belt. Can be detached and used however the user sees fit.
Spare Batteries x 8 To power anything and everything that comes with the armor.

Price: 1950 GC
