Shala klike (Or just "Core")

Shala klike (Or just “Core”) is a player character played by Gardner in the Dark.

Build and Skin Color: She's compact, tough, and has incredibly high muscle output. Her skin is dark ebony.

Eyes and Facial Features: The whites of her eyes are red, and her irises are such a dark shade of brown as to appear black.

Ears: Her ears are docked, to make them pointy, a traditional practice of her people.

Hair Color and Style: Her hair is hard, and very sharp. She keeps it cut very short for ease of maintenance.

Distinguishing Features: The rows of plugs along her arms, back, and head for connecting with her starship

Personality: Shala is very driven, and seeks to be the best of the best. She nearly washed out of CORE training when she exerted herself to unconsciousness during some of the early tests. Due to her high level of aggressiveness, she is given an above average dosage of emotion-dulling medications. It is important to note that she specifically requested the increased dosage.

Shala's history prior to voluntarily joining the CORE program is sealed, but here it is. She was born to a T'Sharugartagen couple, but was separated from her clan at age 4. After that she lived in the Gartagen Capitol as a street punk, having been informally 'adopted' by a gang leader. She worked as a gunrunner/smuggler, riding animals and driving very small, very fast cars full of weapons and drugs to various drop points. She joined the CORE program early on when it opened for high scoring civilians, having scored extremely well in the practical tests, though poorly in the written tests.

She may have grown up on the streets, but she matured in the CORE program, slowly losing much of her heavy adrenaline-junky nature and developing a viscous streak and a strong drive for perfection due to her refusal to fail at being better then everyone else.

Due to her ethnic group, there is severe prejudice against her. Further in academy she had a tendency to ignore her own well being. It was decided to assign her to a ship with an experienced medical crew that could care for her, hence why she was assigned to this fleet.

Shala is fully trained in Gartagen communication systems, and is fully capable of accessing and using them. She can issue commands, fill Gartagen paperwork, and use proper chains of command in and out of battle. She also speaks most major Gartagen Languages, and has received crash courses in Yamatian and Neplesian, however she still needs time to fully digest those languages.

Shala is part of her starship, and she knows it in and out. She's trained to be able to wear any starship with a core uplink like a second skin. She also has the skills to serve as bridge crew on most non-core capable ships, a selection of ships that is shrinking in number in Gartagen space. Shala is an incredibly skilled pilot.

Shala Klike's physical scores are better then that of most cores, and when she worked as a smuggler and a courier she received training in 'the art of pursuit' a Gartagen 'martial art' that shares some similarities with parcor.

Shala doesn't just operate technology Shala is technology. Despite this, Shala's abilities are not particularly remarkable for a CORE, as she originally came from a street gang that rarely interacted with advanced technology. Shala is better with technology then any non-CORE, but her scores in the field of hacking are far from perfection.

Shala, unlike most CORES, has contacts with the less savory parts of Gartaga. She has smuggling contacts, and can pick pockets, count cards, and negotiate with people in dark corners. She has not done any of this since she joined the CORE program, but she still knows the passcodes to access many high level gang warehouses, where she once dropped off goods. Further her reputation in the gangs would likely help her deal with them.

Shala Klike is trained in Gartagen Standard Military CQC. She also possess training in ship to ship combat, which she scored excellently on, and possess heavy weapons training. Due to her nature as a CORE, she can, conceivably, aim and fire heavy weapons by linking herself into an exoskeleton designed for carrying and firing such objects.

If it possess a core uplink Shala can drive it. Otherwise, Shala is best at 'driving' hang-gliders, beasts of burden, and small, fast, vehicles which she learned how to do during her days as a smuggler.
