Glossary of Key Terms

The following are some common terms in the Star Army Roleplay Community.

• Aether: Extradimensional energy
• Combined Field System: A field that provides multiple functions, typically travel and defense.
• Computing: A glossary of specific computing & digital warfare terminology
• Damage Rating (DR): A guideline for how much damage weapons do.
• END: End of a role-playing session in a chat room. (PAUSE or OFF may also be used)
• Extrasensory Perception (psionics, telepathy)
• Firearm Terminology
• Freespacer Terminology
• Game Master (GM): A plot's storyteller/referee
• In-Character (IC): Content that is in the story world.
• Iroma Terminology
• Hyperspace Travel
• Joint Post (JP): An edited transcript of a real-time chat role-play session between multiple players, posted on the in-character story forums. See: Roleplaying
• Non-Player Characters (NPC): Characters whose actions are not written role-players, but rather by the Game Master (GM).
• ON: [Location]: Start of a role-playing session in a chat room. This denotes the scene. If your character isn't in that scene, you probably shouldn't post IC except for entering that scene.
• Out of Character (OOC): Content that is not part of the story world (real life).

• Scene: The setting and timeline of a JP, as directed by the GM.

• Volumetric: 3D holograms
• Zesuaium: A very tough substance
