Origin's 42mm Airburst Grenade Launcher was designed to be used primarily as a point defense and suppression system for use on dead zones on larger vehicles. In addition to this, it may be mounted separately at a fixed location to act as an automated turret and defense system. It is not intended for use as a stand alone platform, and therefor lacks the features necessary for that role, such as iron sights, grips and triggers.
The weapon is rather stubby looking with a foot long non-ferric barrel surrounded by magnetic coils and an additional protective sleeve attached to a squarish, boxy body. It features an interchangeable belt feed, allowing it to be fed from the left or right and is typically located on or within a vehicle's motorized mount - sensors and targeting AI are not included on the weapon itself, and thereby give it a simple look.
Rounds are pushed forward and out of their links by an automated, electrically driven rotating 'bolt' which brings it into the chamber. From there, the electromagnetic coils propel the projectile down the non-ferric barrel.
