The Oban is the civilian version of the OI-M1-1A Ashigaru, designed in the middle of YE 32
The Oban is the civilian version of the OI-M1-1A Ashigaru, with less combat ability, similar armor, and a less powerful shielding system. The basic skeleton and armor is the same as the Ashigaru's. The Oban is completely unarmed, and is not meant for Combat. The Oban is priced to be affordable to the average Nepleslian or Yamataian citizen. While it cannot fly, the Oban is capable of making long jumps, navigating treacherous terrain, and performing heavy lifting. Origin Industries plans to heavily market the Oban, in an attempt to generate massive amounts of profit from the first Civilian oriented kitai in the Kikyo Sector.

As the Oban is essentially the same as the Ashigaru, it has similar hand to hand capabilities to the Ashigaru. The Oban's physical strength is oriented towards heavy lifting and construction, and is able to sustain long periods of heavy exertion.
NOTE: In order to cut costs and to speed up the design process, the Oban uses the mecha_systems.
