This is data specific to the YSS Sakura II, though many systems are derived from those of the YSS Eucharis due to the commanding officer's experience with her systems and his seeing them in practical use. This includes changes to its hull, systems, rooms, and weaponry in excess of the Ke-S3-2D standard.
The following are modifications to the interior of the YSS Sakura II. Some are similar to those of the YSS Eucharis due to the fact that one of its commanding officers served as an engineer and an adviser aboard the ship.
The Captain's Suite contains the commanding officer's personal items and is decorated by him. Because of the nature of this particular officer, it contains pictures of ships and previous commands as well as engineering-related materials and blueprints. Two sides of the room have volumetric windows which blend into the walls when not in use, displaying pictures and schematics by default. This also includes a readout of the YSS Sakura II's current status.
In addition to a Comfort Bed and a sturdy desk, the room has a separate bathroom and closet. It also has various tools for swift use on the bridge and that area of the ship, such as a Star Army Tool Locker, a Fusion-Plasma cutter module, and a "Mobile Spanner" Drone.
The crew cabins each have a pair of volumetric windows as well. Each can show the exterior of the ship from any angle, focus on a scene outside the ship or some specific scene stored in the memory of the ship or a personal computer, or even function as a television or computer screen. They can also be used as a communications device.
Cabin Two, specifically, has extra soundproofing so that its occupant can practice her music.
The YSS Sakura II has an additional docking airlock on the port side that leads to the main (zero-gravity) passageway. It is visible on the ship's exterior. The dock has an extra-long, extending flexible docking tube with an automatically adjusting end connector that is able to connect to nearly any other ship's airlock. It is identical to that of the YSS Eucharis'. An extra blast shutter seals this off from the ship in normal use.
Unlike the YSS Eucharis, however, the YSS Sakura II also has a second docking airlock on the starboard side, mirrored with the connection to the sensor pod of the ship and capable of connecting to a comparable structure. This is intended to keep a small craft affixed to the hull and also connects to the main passageway. This can be used to affix a spare Raccoon T7 Transport Shuttle to the craft, among other things, without taking up excessive amounts of space in its cramped shuttle bay. This airlock also has a blast shutter.
In addition to standard items, Engineering also uses a Fission/Fusion reactor to supplement its radioisotope thermal generators. It is likely that the latter will eventually be replaced. Space is being reserved for a hydrolysis system. A "Mobile Spanner" Drone is also stored here.
In addition to a bar nook and a mini fridge, the Lounge of the YSS Sakura II has two cushioned massage tables, an additional rather solid light fixture bolted onto the wall, and a personal computer with a great deal of games. The room has volumetric windows which often show the scenery of Yamatai, Nishitama, or space. Of course, the windows can relay transmissions, show video, or be used do display the computer games on a huge wall display.
The YSS Sakura II's Sakura-type Medical Laboratory was upgraded with a Medical Scanner Charging Station like that of her sister ship to support the Portable Medical Scanner PMS-1M. It also has the ability to variably vent atmosphere or inject gasses into the holding cells, to calm prisoners or to make them pass out if unruly. It can also move more air through the cells should they be packed a bit more full than their optimal accommodations. This functionality has been added due to the increased likelihood of POW capture in light of military policy.
The Power Armor Bay is fairly standard, with the exception of the addition of several maintenance racks on the walls matching those on the Ayame-class Cruiser design. These specific racks were left over from the creation of the prototype Ayame Layer-class Logistics Ship, the YC-73 YSS Ayame Layer. While the racks are initially designed for the Lamia M1 Space Mecha; they are intended for use with the standard Keiko Thought Armor and the more elite Kirie Thought Armor. They are also compatible with the LAMIA Kai, though it was not adopted by Star Army forces and the unit must kneel and lean over before being boarded.
The YSS Sakura II wardroom is divided into three sections: a lower level with two tables, a stairway to the lounge, and access to a media room; an upper level with the main table and buffet line; and the kitchen area, which contains food storage, preparation, and cooking areas.
Where there is usually a window in the center of the ceiling on ships of the class; a large Volumetric Window is installed under full armor, yarvex, and frame instead. This has notably improving the survivability of the room in combat. This decision was specifically due to repeated examples decompression of the room due to damage on her sister ship, the YSS Eucharis. The volumetric window can also show scenery stored digitally rather than a real time scene, and even be used as a large scale volumetric screen in meetings to discuss operations. Not only does this replacement give the ability to change the environment in which the crew eats while improving the structural stability of that part of the vessel, but it also can be used as a powerful tool for planning missions.
Airtight glass cabinet doors for books are present, within which come college textbooks are stored for the benefit of the crew. However, there is a complete collection of Flash Bang Entertainment titles in a DVD case in the room, as well as an assorted collection of other media and related materials. It is a tame name for a place on the ship often used to store its not-so-tame materials.
The hydroponics area added to the YSS Eucharis' wardroom walls behind curtains has been retained, though bulkheads have been added with doors and separate environmental systems exist to support the plants. Volumetric windows are used to help the hydroponics get the sunlight they need, as well as on the wardroom side to supplement the rear volumetric window of the ship. Because of this arrangement, optimal growing conditions can be achieved, and the plants are more likely survive even if the wardroom is depressurized.
In addition to the conventional herbs and vegetables, a mint plant and an onion plant have been added to the hydroponics area by the commanding officer. Seeds of various kinds are kept in stock.
Near the entrance to the main passageway, other items on the wall include:
The YSS Sakura II has upgrades largely derived from combat experiences on the YSS Eucharis, and has many similar upgrades. Several differences from the YSS Eucharis also exist, however, to fix various perceived flaws or improve upon her sister ship's functionality in various scenarios.
The YSS Sakura II utilizes a conventional MEGAMI system, though it has upgraded software installed to handle the custom and the Eucharis-derived components not common in her class. Though it is not as special or as advanced a unit as Charisma, the CO's station on the bridge shares the hard reset switch. It should be noted, however, that this switch is physically hidden inside a nondescript panel and in a different location than the one on the Eucharis.
The shield systems of the YSS Eucharis have been replicated on the YSS Sakura II, and can function as they do – giving more protection against subspace detonator-type weaponry and acting as a Mass Mesher. The ship's artificial gravity systems have been enhanced to better protect against scalar waves in the event of shield failure, and the Scalable Graviton Beam Projector Array only improves that capability. The gravitational defenses of the ship have been advanced to the point where they can prevent other craft from attaining FTL speed when successfully applied and even be used to slightly alter the trajectory of projectiles launched by the ship if needed.
The Volumetric Projection Array from the Eucharis is also better integrated with the hull-based Active Camouflage System. The ship can change its appearance, registry, colors, appear invisible, emulate running lights, display the illusion of windows, or even conceal itself while projecting a false image of itself nearby. An enemy must then risk ignoring what their eyes tell them or ignoring a possible sensor mis-calibration. The Volumetric Projection Array can also create the illusion of various starships or empty space up to thirty million kilometers out(1/5th of an AU). The images are massless and sensors will not pick up a reading for the created objects.
The hull of the YSS Sakura II is the old Star Army Light Grey of the Sakura and early Plumeria era, and has pink pylons and engines as well to signify its attachment to the pink flower. Be it by coincidence or by intent, these colors are close enough to the Ketsurui Clan colors on the YSS Eucharis to indicate a relationship between the two craft. An Active Camouflage System is installed, and in addition to its defensive and stealth applications, can project the illusion of windows on nearly any part of the ship. This is often used with Volumetric Windows within the ship, and has replaced the wardroom window entirely – repairing what has been perceived by her commanding officer as a glaring design flaw and the cause of problems on her famous sister ship.
The YSS Sakura II has two large, extra sublight engines inherited from the YSS Eucharis' design. In addition, the six supplemental sublight engines have been calibrated to support the Turbo Aether Plasma Engines by helping to manage and fine-tune the ship's orientation and turns. Even if the Combined Field System is dedicated exclusively to shielding, the YSS Sakura II has a slight reduction in turn time compared to other craft of her type in Slower Than Light movement.
The YSS Sakura II is equipped with additional sensor systems, including:
The YSS Sakura II has a special attachment point at the aft of the ship that is designed to tow additional modules such as cargo pods and sensor arrays, mirroring the one on her sister ship. It has also been strengthened to tow large hulks of space craft. The craft also has a Scalable Graviton Beam Projector Array built into her hull, which allows it to catch and tow items around it or avoid collisions with debris if the shields are down.
The YSS Sakura II has been refitted to have comparable armaments to her sister ship, the YSS Eucharis.
