Interest Check The Second Expeditionary Fleet: Exploring the Nashoba Sector

I suppose there's the Mōkin for all the cobra/apache/hind and thunderbolt fans

so what I am thinking is mozu are sort of a stealth interceptor/fast attack thing depending on loadout
Super Kawarime are more or less workhorse air superiority fighters
would variable frames be like mechanized infantry who get to the battle fast and fight dismounted?

so that would give a combined arms doctrine of something like

Mozu come in low fast and hot, out of orbit and over the horizon to do hits on air defenses, sensors, command and control
Super Kawarime establish no fly
Big Bois come in fast and hit the ground running, do what needs done on the ground? Are like giant pa infantry for assaulting capships?

The variables are the same tier and general specs as the fighters. A little more flexible, because they can land and do humanoid stuff, but they fill similar roles.

The Banshee is fast attack, with a couple of big guns and its wing drones. It's a strike fighter; it can shoot above its weight class with its default loadout of 4 T9's. It can take a recon package that slows it down a bit, but greatly enhances its sensor range.

The Sparrowhawk is more in the space superiority category. Zip in, unload missiles, then hound stuff in humanoid or fighter form depending on what's needed. Classic Robotech stuff.

Both are capable of groundside ops, though I think the Sparrowhawk is better suited for it.

So to go with what you're looking at..

Mozu - Stealth interceptor/fast attack
Super Kawarime / Sparrowhawk - Air Superiority
Banshee - Strike fighter

The first thing is up to @Alex Hart heh.
If you guys wanted to fly an early production model of the Sparrowhawk IIY, there's details on it in a post in SYNC. If The SAoY also wanted to use the non-NDC-specific variant of the Banshee that omits some of the more sensitive NDC equipment and electronics, the Crown exists and could work though it's obviously not fitted with as many standard SAoY systems as the Sparrowhawk IIY. I'm sure that Noval is willing to sell but that's more a Whisper question.

For miltech stuff, Noval would ask and yield to whatever the NDC says. No reason to mess up a good business relationship. I do like the idea of taking the IIY, since Argyle is coming from the NDC.

I'm fine with anything, of course!

The biggest thing to remember with something not produced by Yamatai is this is thousands and thousands of light years away, possibly months at full burn wide open FTL. Something with different repair and spare needs than yam tech would be worrisome this far from home. As opposed to what they already have a lot of / can fab themselves.

Thankfully, that's only a concern for the Crown. The Sparrowhawk Whisper wants to use is produced in Yamatai, and uses standard Yamatai parts with the exception of the prototype sensor/ECM package, engines/powerplant, and plasma repeaters. The head lasers would probably be replaced with Yamatai equivalent systems, and the missiles that don't have Yamatai equivalents (the standard and long range models) are easy enough to fab onboard ships.

yes if being used i'd want it to be that one

Yeah. I think it makes more sense. The Banshee/Crown would be fun, and we could work around the tech concerns, but with the Sparrowhawk having a SAoY version, we might as well use it. Both are fun and do the things. I'm also fine with the Mozu. Just wanna pilot some fighters. :D

Support people are only for Co-GMs. @Locked_0ut was going to be the FCO last I heard.

I'm going to end up changing the name of the unit and the mothership and some stuff, but it's all minor.

I am working on a new character for this, species undetermined ❤️

I'm digging up and reworking some old characters for this, as well as working on the Nagamaki, Origin's addition to Big fighters for Yamatai! Details to be sorted out, but the gist of it so far is a two-place, heavy fighter with long range scouting capabilities and heavy duty sensors, EW, and Command/Control capabilities, the flexibility to field large drones like the Spade, or large torpedos, and even such utility refinements as a powerful gravimetric beam array to drag disabled fighters out of harms way! @Yuuki not sure if you answered this on the server, but Cyan posed an important question in our Open RP, what squadron would Menelaos be part of? I never even thought of that
