Gaming Star Trek Online

I was always more of a TNG fan but TOS was fun to watch. Still debating whether I should I watch TAS... By TOS, surely you don't mean The Original Series? Not JJVerse?

I fully expect that plan to somehow backfire. *Sigh*

Well, it'll be a while before I get to see that myself. I never got to finish "the Borg Advance" on my original Fed character and I only just finished Mind Game (There Are FOUR LIGHTS!) on my Romulan character. The less said about my Klingon character the better.

TAS never impressed me from the little I tried to watch on Youtube. I was more a TMP fan for a long while... until TNG started getting good in season 3 and that I got more used to the idea that a Non-Constitution Enterprise with a Non-Kirk captain could also be cool. Voyager was okay-ish. I disdained DS9 for being a Babylon 5 rip-off and Star Trek without the 'Trek'.

I'd say that the STO Fed storyline is worth playing through. Your Romulan character seems like he's gone through most of the original Romulan story content, so you lose little by not continuing with him - it'll just be a rehash of your Federation missions.

UPDATES:
  • Star Army Fleet has finally completed its Tier 4 starbase - thank you to everyone who contributed to fleet projects
  • We are currently finishing our Dilithium Mine to max level, which will give us better discounts on all other fleet projects
    • Please please help, we need an enormous amount of fleet marks and common doffs
  • Started K13 so we can get those requisitions flowing soon (allowing us to buy stuff at other fleets' higher level facilities)
  • Also getting to T1 research base soon.

Holy crap we're a thing in this game!

I've forgotten my old account actually XD Might get back in to it some time lol...

I assume everyone's playing on PC, right? Because I just found out that my laptop will run it AND that I can hook up a PS4 controller. I wanna get out into space!

Yeah, PC. It's only recently come out for console.

Well, aside from some general problems collecting the necessary Tritanium for... Everything... I need, I've been liking the R&D so far. Just need to stock up for some Mk8 antiproton stuff, been loving the critical build I've been going with!

I just started playing again, starting with an Agents of Yesterday character because someone said that was the best way to do it.

Can I still get my Borg bridge officer from preordering? Or will I only ever have it on my old character from before f2p?

Oh, nice. Thanks!

Apparently I have a Del Taco shuttle, too. Rofl, Revolver and I went to get that together.

Bear in mind that while the TOS story is nice, the campaign eventually merges in the common mission tree for all factions. Given a time travel theme, you'll spend most of your time in the 25th century.

But regardless of what you'll choose to fly, you're going to be stuck with the TOS emotes like communicator-use before beam up, boxy-tricorder being used for scanning and so forth.

Back when Agents of Yesterday launched, I actually deleted my Fed tac in favor of making a TOS tac captain. Even though that character is fairly well off at endgame, those TOS emotes clash with pretty much every 'modern' ship I'd like to fly. I ended up really regreting my choice.

So, my recommendation is to play the TOS campaign until the obvious merger point. The missions and their flavor is very good and also very much worth playing through. But unless you're a super-huge TOS fan, I'd suggest to leave it at that and invest more time in a 'current century' character.

If emotes are all that's different, then I'm going to go with "flip communicators and box tricorders are superior."

Only unexpected thing I've found annoying is that non-TOS BOFFs have fewer uniform options for free. Like, I have to buy certain things if I want my newest BOFFs to have matching uniforms (basically my TOS girls wear skirts and my modern ones have to wear pants).

Started up a playthrough on PS4. Kinda trying to mimic a Neko captain and SAoY crew.

Though if the Starmy did have a place in this game, our away teams would be a LOT more badass.

Odyssey Uniforms with the colors to match the Type 35. I want something that'll color the mantle and the sleeves, though, which might work with the Bajoran uniform. Will post images whenever I get the chance. Ships are using red trim to mimic the Yamatai color scheme without going excessively overboard.

Started with a default Miranda I named the Futeki (fearless), then moved onto a Constitution I've named Futeki-B. I'll probably end up branching out names, probably throw in some SARP references.

I'm probably going to lean towards a ship that can give and take punishment, since being Big and Beefy seems to be the working model here. Anyone wants to make reccomendations, I'd be glad for it.

I'd invite you to our fleet but I don't think the game is cross-platform.
