Interest Check Open RP: Purgatory Humanitarian Relief

In places such as Yamatai space, medicine and military has reached levels that lesser civilizations would see as godly. The ability to bring their soldiers back from the dead, to give back missing limbs and to make scars an aesthetic choice. Few, if any, Yamatai citizens go hungry within their borders.

But those borders mean something more than just an end to what Yamatai grips, its an end to the reach of their technology. The further you stray, the less influence you see. At a point, Yamatai is a word spoken of faintly, their wonders and almost magical abilities something spoken of with criticism, not out of disagreement, but out of disbelief. A place where people go hungry, the ships move slow, technology is bulky, and medicine is not the end all saving grace.

Here, small and petty factions squabble over small borders and resources, waging war constantly, content to fight rather than work together. Though forever behind Yamatai in any sense, conflict does breed progress, and sometimes that progress leaves some behind.

Purgatory was founded, an idealistic group based on humanitarian efforts and acts, seemingly uncomfortable, despite the wishes and wants of corporations and militaries alike. Operating out of hidden bases across their star cluster, Purgatory is under-funded, out-manned, and out-gunned. When they fight, it is not to win, it is to survive.

But all they fight for is the right they believe every man and woman deserves, the light in the pitch black darkness, the exit of the oppressive cave.

The right for a way out.

I read about this in Discord chat and expressed my interest back then. Things haven't changed.

I think this can go places! Very cool idea and it should be great to see this done by you, Jabonicus!

Here's some key lore aspects that everyone involved would know, as well as the key aspects of the RP that would take place.

Distance isolates the area from everything else. Both sides can theoretically reach the other, with developed groups being able to quite easily, with it simply being a chore, and making it that far in the area that the RP takes place is possible, but the resource consumption is immense, for promise of things that aren't certain and not helpful for any group there at large, especially with the risk of failure.

Technology is large and bulky compared to that of modern reaches of space. Also notable is that it's very far behind that of modern reaches. Modern medical technology for example at it best can bring people back from the dead without having the body at hand. Cybernetics are insanely advanced, as good as if not better than their biological counterparts. In the local region of the RP, death is final, cybernetics and expensive and at best equal their counterparts, and scars only heal somewhat better than naturally.

There are numerous militaries in the settings fighting numerous wars, known as the 'Resource Wars.' The resources include natural resources and things such as borders and similar things. Purgatory, however, is not a player in these wars, they are a third party, supported by none of the militaries, and lacking any of the military ability of the military groups.

When Purgatory fights with them and others, they are outmanned and outgunned.

Please let me know about any questions you have. As for characters I don't require wiki profiles but I do want summaries of what characters you will be playing. Depending on whether or not the story goes further into a real plot, you will have to make one if it goes that far.

Things will edit/change depending on feedback and what people want.
