RP: 4th Fleet (NSN) [4th AASP] Deal

Anakes was a system mostly devoid of strategic value. No considerable concentrations of mineral wealth or large military facilities. Only the 3rd planet was of any interest, a massive biosphere filled with creatures and a partially completed Elysian colony. Elysian defensive assets, hulked ships, construction equipment, and colony ships had been blown apart, their debris endlessly orbiting the third planet after the SMX’s attack.

The surface wasn’t much better, the pristine landscape of the ‘gentle’ land mass contained the burnt out remains of a colony city that had never finished construction, pieces of starships scattered around the city for hundreds of kilometers. The workers that had been working on the colony had long since been captured by SMX ground forces, their fate unknown.

There was still damage in the system from the NMX attack, and still hulks floating in orbit. But Grunder was in charge of this system now, and he was doing things his own way. Many of his ships hid in ambush points in close orbit around the asteroid belts. Others of his ships trawled through the space wreckage, sifting through the destroyed elysian and NMX ships for salvageable components. On the ground efforts were underway to reconstruct the valuable environment, and a single city stood, where many of the captured survivors of the colony were being retrained into NMX Slaves. There the wheat were separated from the chaff, and the wheat became higher 'ranking' pets for Grunder's preferred officers. Grunder was expecting an attack, not SOON, but with the recent attack on the Minyas system it was likely inevitable. He wondered what faction would be the first to try to dethrone him, and what route they would take in an attempt to do so. He stroked one of his pets lovingly as he pondered, watching the reconstruction efforts of the colony that now belonged to him.

--

The loss of the Wasp at Minyas had set back the 4th fleet’s timetable considerably, forcing them to wait nearly two weeks for their combat unit to receive its replacement ship, the NSS Hornet. It would fill the role the wasp had completely, being run entirely by remote with a few junker drones on the bridge to facilitate operations. The C3E class cruiser was backed up by two of the older C2s, the NSS Odessa and NSS Primorsky, now both veterans of the attack on Minyas. They had left their rally point at Minyas some time ago, followed shortly thereafter by their support group consisting of landing craft and long range bombers.

They would arrive at Anakes, .8 AU directly above the third planet with respect to its sun. Powerful FTL sensors would begin scanning the star system, picking out objects as far away as the outer planets with ease. Though they would sweep across the system they would only really pick up ships that were moving around, or had their reactors running. Simple subspace waves were unable to pick out the debris from the other ships.

Just like before, the 4th fleet would make a perfect defold, their systems being carefully monitored by Drei. Upon arrival the ships would remain in a triangle formation with the Hornet closest to the planet and the rest further away. The Hornet would immediately begin combat operations, bulky interdiction mines being shot out from the hull while a massive swarm of combat drones detached from the forward section of the hull to create an expanding defensive donut around the Hornet.

The Hornet would then transmit a message.

“GREETINGS!” The accompanying video would include a single large glowing red ball, part of a junker drone which would retreat from the screen just enough to show an image of a carved pumpkin that someone had painted on the front of the drone. “WOULD YOU PLEASE SURRENDER?”

--

Grunder sighed, broken out of his revelry by the important message. He turned on the viewscrene, his Neko, tessa, on his back. Since he was luxuriating Tessa was the only one currently visible in the screen, and she was quite agitated from the message. Her luxuriant purple hair was standing up like that of a pissed cat, and she was hissing in the back of her throat, ears pressed close against her head. She was wearing a onepiece body outfit that served as a fairly simple armor, and had a rather obvious opening in the bottom. She hissed and spat into the microphone "Go away!" She shouted "You nasty nasty people! Leave us alone! Or I'll go onboard your ship and rip your spleens out through your nose!"

"Impressive threat" a luxurant woman's voice spoke, and James vaulted onto Grunder's back, pushing the neko off. James was wearing some sort of refitted outfit based off of samurai armour, several metal plates running parallel to each other, and a large hat with a very large crescent attached to the forhead. She also had a giant vouledge in her hand, and her arms and legs were clearly cybernetic, as was one of her eyes. Her other eye was a gentle brown, as was her luxurant hair. "Who are you?" she asked firmly "And by what right do you have to enter our system and demand our surrender? For all I can tell, you might just be a fleet of abnormally well organized pirates. Please provide us with some credentials." While she spoke into the microphone other voices could be heard as Grunder's pets debated what to do next. Grunder waited silently and indulgently, reassuring his pets with gentle strokes of his tentacles, and softly whispering to them that everything would be fine, and not to worry. Kasha was, as usual, the most worried. Grunder heaved a sigh, and started to float upwards, disbalancing James as he rose. James fell flat against his back with well trained skill, grabbing ahold of one of the several black belts Grunder wore for this purpose. Grunder's deep voice emerged gently "No. I will not surrender" he said "But, we could perhaps make a deal, or come to an arrangement. There have been many deaths already, why should we cause more unnecessarily? But I warn you, if you do not acept my request for negotiations, I will exterminate you ruthlessly and without remorse."

--

“…I HAVE NO SPLEENS FOR YOU.” The pumpkin faced drone responded apologetically, its glowing red eye looking into the monitor for a few moments before looking up, then off to the side, then disappearing off the corner of the screen.

The image would flicker for a second, and be replaced by a new transmission showing a young looking, slightly pale, woman with brown eyes, black hair, and a muted grey uniform. “Your ships are not to maneuver while conducting this negotiation, are we clear?” She asked as confidently.

--

"You will cease laying those disgusting Interdiction mines into civilian traffic paths." Grunder responded, calmly "And I will order my ships to hold position. Later, at the end of the negotiations, I will hope you will clean up the ones you have already laid down. However I will not require you to clean the already placed ones, just stop dropping them."

--

“Acceptable,” She would reply, “I will send a shuttle over to your ship in 10 minutes.”
The NSS Odessa would be a flurry of activity for the next few moments.
‘Launch Crew: Preparing shuttle…’
‘Communications: Signaling support group to wait at rally point…’
‘manufacturing section: preparing negotiator equipment…’

The support group trailing behind the attack ships would defold prematurely, waiting in deep space for the signal to resume operations while one of the flight decks of the Odessa was cleared of fighters so one of its shuttle craft could be brought up. The 4th fleet had a plan for dealing with the NMX, and trying negotiations were a part of that plan.

--

Grunder motioned quietly to his pets, and they all grabbed ahold "I will send an unarmed craft I captured. I will be onboard that craft. You may or may not be familiar with it, it's a pleasure Yact." He switched channels and broadcast to his fleet to maintain position on low energy mode, for now. To hide, basically, and turn off their engines and shields, to only turn them back on in a small set of conditions. Then he made the way through his flagship, pets in tow, towards the small pleasure yacht he had captured. "Prepare to launch" he ordered. "Prepared" "Launch"

The unarmed craft felt delicate around him, and he was uncertain and nervious. This woman seemed loud, and confrontational, and he was not certain that he would be provided with a fully fair negotiation. Zetsu and Kasha, sensing his distress, both gave him gentle kisses. He petted them gently with his tentacles, relaxing. Then he indulgantly asked his pets "Are you girls ready to show off?" "Yes master!" They responded "Good... do your best, let's impress them" he said with a small twitch of his egging tentacle. He loved his pets.

--

15 minutes later…

The T2 shuttle launched by the NSS Odessa would arrive at its destination, delicately approaching and latching onto an exterior airlock with numerous small bursts of energy from its maneuvering thrusters. Drei would then open up the door on the bottom of the shuttle which was pressed against the airlock of the Yacht, an airtight seal formed by the shuttle’s extensions on the underside keeping the area from depressing as she floated towards her entrance. She would be wearing a standard nepleslian navy uniform, button down blue shirt, blue pants, and no hat, with a blue backpack behind her, its straps crossing over her chest.

--

Grunder stood in the dock, waiting, attended by James the Nepleslian, Kasha, and Tessa. The others were off getting things prepared. Kasha was wearing a very loose silk outfit that was anchored to a golden collar, and a set of golden cuffs. Over her eyes was a black silk blindfold. Her hair was jet black, and she had wrapped herself gently in her luxuriant wings. The other two have already been described James and Kasha both scowled at Drei, looking rather aggressive. Grunder offered a tentacle to shake "Some of my pets are preparing a meal and entertainment for the negations" he said in his remarkably warm voice "May I welcome you abroad the Prodigal Sun?" he asked in a very polite and gentlemanly way.

The luxury vessel was quite luxuriously appointed, it's insides were stark and white, but paintings and rich fabrics hung across the walls. A lush carpet covered the floor "Feel free to remove your boots. I'm told it's more comfortable"

--

“You may,” Drei responded, politely shaking his tentacle with her own hand. Her eyes would quickly dart over the other humanoids in the room, the nepleslian, the blindfolded girl, both seemed happy… which would have to be thought about later. She would kneel down and begin unfastening her boots. “Do you know why we are here?” she asked, quickly getting right to her objectives.

--

"Yes" he says "There's a 90% chance you are here to take this system back for yourselves. A five percent chance you are here to simply assassinate me, and a 5% chance that you are going to ask for my slaves but not the system" he says "I'm afraid in straight terms none of the above are acceptable. I fought a hard battle for this system, and it is mine by right. Furthermore I am already making use of it and rebuilding the infrastructure. And I cannot release the slaves. The pets won't want to leave, and the Slaves are not under my control. There's limits to what I can do before the sub-commanders start plotting against me. Still, tit for tat, if you're willing to make a fair deal I could be persuaded to let you achieve some goals. Resources or volunteers to replace the system and/or slaves as a possible example" The three girls got on his back, and were riding him as he lead Drei into the ship. Drei could smell food. Wondrous food... drifting through the air. it smelled like it had been prepared by some sort of master chef.

--

“I appreciate that you are willing to put all of your cards on the table.” Drei said with a smile, setting her boots aside before returning to standing. “I only have three main goals here, only two of which pertain to you. These are ‘mitigating threats to the Nepleslian Empire’ and ‘protecting nepleslian lives’.” She would follow behind the Mishu in front of her, curiously looking at those that were riding on his back. “The first involves the balance of power between the NMX and the Yamatai government, ensuring that neither gets to a position where they can devote their full resources against Nepleslia. Unfortunately this system is one of three that Nepleslia needs to have a claim on in order to deny galactic westerly expansion rights to Yamatai. In a few years who owns this system will very likely determine the nature of the relationship between Nepleslia, Yamatai, and the NMX. Who is actually operating the system is of little consequence for us so long as we have a flag here so to speak.” Drei would sniff the air, food was an odd scent here, as it wasn’t normally something that the NMX provided to their ‘guests’ during negotiations. Things had certainly ended much less favorably last time she had attempted this. “So if you are willing to negotiate terms, I believe we can reach an agreement which is mutually beneficial for both of us.

Grunder bobbed in the air, listening to the woman talk. "So what exactly do you want from me?" he asks "You say you want neither the NMX nor Yamatai to control this system... you do know that while I do have my price, to defy my nation... well, if you're a traitor for money or a traitor for ideals you get hung all the same. My price would be rather high" he lead her into a large dining room, with a very long mahogany wood table. He floated down a bit, hovering closer to the ground so that the three 'pets' on his back could reach the table "I'm afraid my table manners are rather atrocious... it's a fault of my biology, so I will not be eating with you... But my pets will be. Please take a chair."

Several other girls were already seated in the room. A dark colored person of indeterminate race sat in one corner, out of the light. The darkness of her clothing and skin seemed to bleed into her surroundings, and she looked somewhat surreal, as though someone had animated a painting. Close inspection would show that her clothing had been, in fact, painted on and that she was most likely Nepleslian. Another woman sat at the table, clothed in flowing silk and little silver bells that chimed as she moved. She smiled gently at Dai, stretching her black bird-like wings. A lorath clearly. A middle-aged Helishato with a collar was also at the table, wearing a fairly typical maid's outfit, and looking meek, like she wanted to disappear into the background and was embaressed by all the showiness. Another woman there was another elysian... a Caelisian in point of fact. She was dressed fairly demurely in a pair of simple black pants, a tyedye shirt, and a long white labcoat that was covered in stains. She was picking her teeth with one of her feathers, and looked a bit... bored.

"Please let me introduce my pets to you" Grunder said "This is Kasha... she's blind, but she is very good at cheering me up when I'm depressed." he points to the Patrician on his back, who hugs the pointing tenticle, and smiles broadly "This is Tessa, she's one of my body guards," Pointing to the neko "this is James she's my other body guard." pointing to the Nepleslian "Don't try anything" James said. "If you hurt master, I will strangle you with your own optical nerves" Tessa said, agressivly. "Girls, really..." Grunder said, with a sound like a sigh "No need for threats" he patted both of the girls, and they seemed to preen a bit under the petting...

"This is Dionysodoros. She's... well... brilliant" "I'm not brilliant, just dedicated. You flatter me" the Caelisian said, simply, waving off the praise modestly, though her eyes sparked with pleasure. "This is Lacquer" He pointed to the woman in the corner "The mad artist" "I'm not mad, just insane" the woman whispered melodramatically, her voice somewhat eerie, and her features covered with a vicious smile. " "This is Kyria, she will be dancing for us later" he motions to the Lorath "What sort of dance?" Kyria asked "Pole dance, lap dan..." "The dance of a thousand fans please" "Ohh, I like that one" he patted the lorath woman, then moved on "This is Zetsu, my maid." "..." "She's very shy" Zetsu fidgeted uncomfortably at the attention. "And preparing food for us is Sholam. Her food is to die for" Grunder said softly. As if on cue a Plebican wearing a tall chef's hat, and an outfit that seemed to feature a lot of green leather, brass, gears, knobs, and little flashy lights, stepped out of the kitchen. She was serving beats drizzled in some sort of cherry sauce and blue cheese. She was also carrying roasted sweet potatoes in some sort of honey glaze, Asparagus in butter and garlic sauce, and roasted red peppers in soysauce and miso "This is the first course" she says cheerfully "After this will be soup, salad, grain, meat, and then tea and desert. Please, enjoy it fully" she said with a cute bow and a grin, clearly appreciating the chance to show off

--

“It is nice to meet you all, My name is Drei,” She replied with a smile, “And I should apologize for coming on a bit strong earlier. Previous negotiations with your kind have required such measures to ensure that I’m taken seriously.” She would move her shoulders slightly, adjusting the weight of her backpack slightly. She would smile at each of them in turn, ignoring the threats provided by the nepleslian. She would briefly take a look at the food and politely say “Thank you,” Before returning to face Grunder.

“But if we may talk about the most pressing business first. My goal here is to mitigate the threats posed to the Nepleslian Empire and I believe we can come up with a mutual agreement that will serve both of our interests. I’m sure you are aware of the Hawk factions within the NMX organization that advocate war against other races. Reducing the power of these factions and allowing leaders more willing to negotiate to take charge would greatly mitigate the threat posed by your organization.” Drei explained.

“So keeping you alive and in a position of power could be useful for us if you are willing to continue negotiations. I believe you could also help us in the removal of those more radical elements. We could arrange for this system to be set up as a DMZ, let you run your operations here assuming you are willing to turn over this system to us in the event that Yamatai attacks or the NMX begin pulling out of the area. You would also have to let any Nepleslian in your care leave with us if they want and work with us on eliminating your more aggressive rivals.”

--

Grunder pondered, quietly as his pets ate voratiously "I would have little problem turning this system over to Nepleslian forces if the NMX was to withdraw" he says after a moment "Given what I know about both Nepleslian and Yamatain cultures I suspect that any soldiers of mine who were... sick of the fighting would have fairer treatment under the Nepleslian government. But... attacking and murdering other NMX leaders? I would require payment for such incidents. It's a very risky thing to do, you have to understand. Also, I would like to request open trade. I am currently putting the finishing touches on a luxury palace which is intended to make some money serving as a tourist destination. Open trade across our borders would make it much more profitable. And it would make it easier to do reasonable commerce with the money received from such ventures. Smuggling supplies into system is very expensive when you are trying to restart an economy" Grunder said, watching Drei very carefully, doing his best to read her features. "Are you a gambler Miss Drei?"

--

"My father is," Drei responded, “And calculated risks are part of the job.” Without missing a heartbeat she would continue right into her next line of thought.
“You would have to agree to security inspections if you want Nepleslians to be allowed to travel to your station and conduct trade. I assume you know we can not allow Nepleslians to be put in a situation where they may be brainwashed or attacked. We can also not allow weapons or threatening equipment to be smuggled into Nepleslian areas.”

She would lean forward against the table slightly, “And what payment are you looking for. I would have assumed having the nepleslian military ready to take out your rivals would be payment enough.”

--

“You would only be able to inspect my station" he says "And you would not be inspecting the rest of the ships in the system. I do not want you to be able to freely drop spies and possible sabotage gear onto my ships you understand. You would, of course, be able to inspect any freighters entering and leaving the system. And I would not kidnap tourists anyway, it would reduce the amount of money I could make. As for the payment I am looking for... Volunteers" he says with a slight grin "Taking out my rivals... there's still more then enough unconquered land that most of them are seeking glory by expanding outwards, not by turning their attention to my... activities and quiet fortifications and strengthening of my lands. But I'm still short highly trained professionals, and I need their technological expertise to create more defenses, and to properly reconstruct this area. Minor systems with high mineral wealth would also be good, as would be military goods and supplies that I am allowed to keep." He grins at her, touching her leg with a tentacle teasingly. "I must say, you are much more reasonable then many Neplesians I have encountered. Your kind are quite fond of explosive suicide rites to take as many as they can with them. Would you like a rank in my navy?" Tessa swatted him "Master, quit flirting with her" "Ah... yes. This is not the time for such flirtations."

--

“The 4th fleet can provide security for your operations here.” Drei responded, standing still as the NMX’s tendril slid against her leg. “And I’m sure that you already have a full compliment of scientists at your disposal. If you require any more than that you could hire them from those that we clear to visit your station.”

“I’m sure you are also aware of how aggressive the NMX can be in looking for promotions. They can rise through the ranks faster by challenging you than planting their flag on unclaimed systems. Sitting here and not showing off your aggression will make you a target regardless of how many defenses you throw up or what kind of resources you bring in. Our protection, our co-operation, and our willingness to let our people visit are quite valuable individually and are easily worth what we are asking." She would look directly at him and add, "And maybe if you play nicely I can help turn your fleet into a real fighting force." She would then give him a quick smile before returning to her more serious demeanor.

Grunder pondered long and hard. "I certainly wouldn't mind assistance in caring for my pets, protecting my land, and carving out large swaths of land" he says, "But, I can't help but want more. There are many ways you could betray me if all that was being offered were services, and the loan of materials. You could, for example, provide me with substandard support, and watch as I died against my own people as soon as you grew tired of me. Further I do not like the idea of being dependent on you, having ships crewed by you in my system, patrolling my people. Don't get me wrong, I do not believe that you, in personal, are untrustworthy. But I understand that the Nepleslian government is a bureaucracy, and I do not trust it." he stroked his pets gently, caressing them in thought. They cuddled back against his tentacles. Once again a tentacle touched Drei's leg gently, curiously, in a harmless gesture. As he thinks the next set of food is brought in by the chef. The silence was beginning to grow awkward when the blind Kasha suddenly gave Drei a hug. "Hello" she said, cheerfully. This seemed to relax the other pets far more then Grunder's petting had.

"So what has Neplesia been up to lately?" James asked, "It's been quite long since I left..."

"You know, your outfit is rather... boring. I could redesign it for you..." Lacquer offered shortly thereafter.

"And you do move with some grace... combat skills or perhaps you dance as well?" that was Kyia.

Tessa though opted to continue to glare at Drei, and Dionysodoros was obviously spacing out, drawing blueprints on her napkin. Zetsu continued to eat quietly, too shy to talk.

Drei wasn’t quite sure how to respond to the hug from the blind woman, her hand patting the girl on the back as she responded with a quick, “... hello,” as she tried to accommodate everyone in the room asking something of her.

“Maybe we should talk later,” Drei would say to the plethora of slaves around her, “Striking this deal is most important right now.” She would then turn to Grunder.

“Perhaps something less invasive then, we search any civilian ships leaving for nepleslian worlds or arriving from nepleslian worlds. We’ll let you run your base but should Yamatai attack or some serious situation arise you will be required to surrender to us. You’ll also help us remove your rival commanders and work with us on certain projects. In exchange we’ll let you monitor this system, see to your own defense and keep our distance.”

“You’ll get more authority in the NMX government and in exchange Nepleslia remains off the menu.” Drei summarized, again letting his tendril play against her leg. She would shift her weight slightly, still standing but now with her balance on the other leg.

“This deal is from the Nepleslian 4th fleet, we have a degree of autonomy from the government bureaucracy so we more considerably faster than they do but I do not speak for them at this moment.”

Grunder pondered "I only surrender to you if it looks like I'm losing" he says "I'm not going to surrender if attacked by a single, marginally armed scout-ship. Every time I help you remove a commander, I would like recompense for any losses I sustain in battle, you'll likely be wanting me to kill more powerful other leaders then I would have normally gone against... Perhaps you could also inform citizens of the... opertunities that await them working for me, and give them the chance to earnestly volunteer? They will not be harmed. Well, not intentionally. Also I'd like to be provided with resources when I go against others of my kind, on your urging. Mostly metals, just a lump sum. We can renegotiate the terms dependent on the power level of whom you're asking me to go against. That way if an attack goes poorly or fails, I don't have to die as a result. Because if an attack failed, and it was against someone more powerful then me, I can guarantee that if I didn't have a cache of resources to quickly rebuild my fleet, I would be squished" He pondered a bit longer. "Also, I would like the ability to send colony ships through Nepleslian systems to colonize unclaimed planets and systems in Nepleslian territory, and on the other side. In Nepleslian with specific permission for that system. On the other side, no specific permission needed." The absent minded leg stroking continued.

“We’re not going to act as your publicity arm, and we won’t let you put your colony ships into our space. The other NMX commanders are trying to do that enough as is. Compensation being determined on a per event basis is fine. She would cross her legs as she stood, gently trapping his tentacle between them

“Please don’t push your luck to much here. We are willing to work with you for our mutual benefit, but our alternative is simply destroying everything with an NMX logo on it.”

"I don't want you to act as my publicity arm, I just want permission to run advertisements" Grunder says, squeaking as his tentacle is trapped between her legs. "And I'm willing to negotiate colonies in neplesia space later, and pay for the right to have them" he says "As a possible thing in the future. It seems we're coming to an agreement though. Deal?"

Grunder sighs "It's a deal for now, but I do want a source of volunteers and immigrants. I'd rather not be deceptive about it either, when a person voluntarily chooses such a path it makes it much more pleasant for all involved. Perhaps when you trust me more we can come back to the advertising" he says "Now, are you going to just vanish and deprive me of your company, or will you at least stick around for the remainder of the meal?" His tentacle wriggles enticingly where it's softly caught between her legs.

Drei jolted a little bit, pulling out her chair and taking off her backpack, setting it down beside her as she sat down,

“We may eat, but there are pressing matters for the fleet to attend to.” She would then turn to Kyia, “And I might take you up on those dance lessons as well. Such things are not covered in my training.”

--

Meanwhile the three ships that had arrived, geared up for a fight, would quickly blink back into FTL. The 4th fleet’s attack wing would regroup again, already preparing for their next attack.

Kyia grinned. "I'd be glad to" she said with a half bow. Sholam brought out the meat, steak in a white sauce, honey glazed duck, and buttered crab legs.

Before long, Drei might notice that Kasha was braiding a black and lacy ribbon into Drei's hair, and that James was sitting very close, eyes sparkling with curiosity. "You're fairly interesting" James said "They did a great job on your cybernetics, it's hard to tell what bits are natural and which bits aren't." Lacquer was inspecting her closely... Even Tessa had warmed up a little bit, she wasn't scowling at Drei anymore.

Grunder's tentacle continued to... gently tease Drei, in a sort of restful way, though Grunder seemed to be mostly indulging his pets, and letting them have fun with Drei now that buisness was over. "You are the negotiator" he said "I applaud your intelligence"

"Both the organic and mechanical components were created and grown at the same time," She explained to James, holding up her hand and turning it slightly so he could see, "It helps that this body is designed for humanoid interactions so it is intended to be pleasing to the eyes enough to spark discussion but not sufficiently so to distract Nepleslians."

She would gently abide the slave toying with her hair and for the moment, the tentacle rubbing against her leg.

"And I appreciate your differences from the standard NMX." She replied, "We predicted that we would find someone willing to strike this kind of deal with us, but it was anticipated we wouldn't find that person for some time. How many more in your organization think like you do?"

"I don't know" Grunder said "Most of the ones who do that I've found, I've taken under my wing as sub commanders... How many in your origination are like you?" He asks "I know another woman named Drei blew up recently. Same woman?" His tentacle was getting a touch more... friendly with her. "Not that it would have done you much good here. We're all backed up with ST pods, and this is an unarmed non-military ship" he didn't seem upset at all, just curious.

Laquer pulled out a tape measure, and started measuring Drei silently, with no explination or warning. "Don't mind her" James said "She's a little weird... what's new in Neplesia, anyway? Last time I was there was about two years ago. Oh, and you might not be able to tell, but master's flirting with you. He's got this thing for powerful women." she winks "Though he loves his pets, like me"

"A version of the same woman," Drei replied, "SOP for negotiations like this are to bring a fail safe device. We didn't have any negotiator class weapons on hand so we rigged up a 20 kiloton nuke on a dead man switch instead." She would smile and then add,

"It is only used when the negotiator is about to be killed, as a deterrent against pirating any of our technology." She would listen to each of the slaves in turn, responding to James first,

"The Reds and Blacks have been eliminated almost entirely and the Green faction has been working to create a more stable government." She then looked over at Laquer, then back over at Grunder,

"And I am aware of that," She replied, "I have not yet decided how to react to it."

If Grunder were capable of blushing he would be. "Perhaps" he said "A flower might aid your decision?" A tentacle reaches up with a lilac, and slips it behind Drei's ear so that it's held against her face by her hair. The next course came out, this was the desert and tea. It was a lovely smelling tea, and a collection of very nice cakes and Eclaires. Sholam came out with the final serving, and took a seat, smiling. "Did you like the meal?" she asked Drei eagerly.

Lacquer finished mesuring, then kissed Drei's cheek "I'm going to come back with a lovely outfit for you" she whispered. Then she darted out of the room.

Zetsu silently walked over to Drei, then gave her a hug, and silently placed a diablo set in Drei's lap. "My present to you" she said, shyly.

"Right, we're each supposed to give you a present" James said, with a grin. "I'm guessing Lacquer's is gonna be clothing. Hope you don't mind?"

Kasha snuggled quietly against Drei's back, making a soft snoring noise. Drei felt Kasha being gently lifted away, and Grunder put her on his back. She looked very comfortable there.

"The food is great," Drei said with a smile, though she had eaten only a few bites as her systems weren't entirely dependent on this kind of nutrition.

"And not at all James," Drei replied as she exampled the items being handed to her. Any, or likely all, could be bugs or intelligence gathering devices of some kind, and she hated to think about what chemical compounds could be in the food. This body would have to undergo considerable decontamination before being returned to service.

"And while I do appreciate the gifts, do keep in mind we are technically at war."

"Of course" James said with a grin "Here's mine by the way..." James dropped a heavily modified fully automatic zen arms .45 caliber pistol into her lap. It had a very pretty brass grip which was decorated with a laser etched engraving of a unicorn impaling a dragon. It had also been modified with a switch that went between "Safe" "3 round burst" and "Full auto". Lastly it had been exquisitely and professionally balanced, and the bore was perfect. It was, however, unloaded. "This one's from me" James said with a smile.

Kyia meanwhile, had begun to dance. She was showing off an unusal dance involving small wood and rice-paper fans with equisite decorations. She was juggling them, and tossing them around and twirling them with such rapidity that Drei had a hard time counting how many there were total, despite her enhancements (Though there were certainly less then a thousand).

Grunder's tentacles slid down Drei's body gently, massaging her, rubbing her shoulders and seeking out her tensions to smooth away. "Kasha's gift to you, by the way, were the ribbons" he said gently, stimulating Drei further.

"And mine is a book with all the recipies I prepared today" Sholam said, handing Drei a book.

"I was instructed to give you a blueprint for something I was working on. Here is my blueprint for a biological electrical system for a ship that is self repairing. It's based on the standard Elysian design, but I made some minor improvements" Dionysodoros said, calmly, passing Drei a blueprint.

"And this is from me" The neko, Tessa, said grouchly handing Drei a book titled "Cat's cradle and other string games".

Grunder watched Drei with what would be an indulgent smile if he had a better face. "Hmmm... so... how do you plan to respond to my flirting?" he teased as he slipped a rose into one of her button holes. His tentacles were very skilled at feeling good against her skin.

"For the time being, I plan to stonewall you but be slightly accepting. Anything more would be inappropriate on a first date." She replied with a grin, once more crossing her legs to catch one of his tendrils in the process of trying to stroke her legs.

Grunder certainly had more than enough slaves to keep himself occupied, and they mostly all seemed to be interested in her. It wouldn't take Drei long to make the connection that the easiest way to keep control of the situation would be to take control of the supporting players.

She would turn to James,
"Classic choice, these pistols have been in service on Nepleslia for decades... Why did you choose this particular engraving?"

She would then turn to Kyia,
"That is certainly an involved dance. Where did you learn to preform it?"

Then to Sholam,
"I will have to try cooking them myself when I return to my ship," She said, glossing over the whole 'being the ship's AI' thing.

Then Dionysodoros,
"This is very impressive. Have you considered using wireless power transmission at all? We're constantly looking for ways to improve our own efficiency numbers."

And finally to Tessa,
"Thank you for the book. Will you show me how to do some of these? I'm afraid I'm not very good with string."

"Depends on the culture" Grunder retorted teasingly, his trapped tentacle wriggling around playfully, in a very silly way.

"I chose that pattern because of a Fairy Tail I like" James told Drei. "I'm kinda into mythology."

Kyia smiled "This dance is a semi-traditional dance. I learned it from my mother. She also was a dancer"

Sholam smiled, and bowed her head earnestly, pleased to hear her recipies would be put to good use.

Dionysodoros shook her head "Wireless power transmission screws up transistors" she said sadly "It's a beautiful concept, but unfortunately it prevents computing from functioning properly."

Tessa blinked, then walked back over to Drei. "Here, like this" she said, pulling some string out of her pocket and demonstrating the cat's cradle...

Lacquer came in at this point, carrying a Dominatrix outfit consisting of a pair of very high heal shoes in black. Black and dark green horizontal striped thigh high stockings and a dark green garter-belt. A black corset with dark green vertical stripes. The laces to tie up the corset were almost sparkly dark grey. A translucent dark green and smoke Grey horizontal stripe miniskirt mini-skirt. A bright green top hat. A pair of bright green gloves, and a smoke grey lace mesh that was designed to serve as a nearly shoulder length 'fake glove' hooking around the space between thumb and index finger, then going all the way up. Her belly would be covered by fluid fabric hanging from the corset, and her breasts would be covered by very elastic and stretchy material in almost translucent dark green. The colors matched her uniform. "Finished" Lacquer said quietly, handing them to the startled woman.
