Hello, My name is Ryan and i im a little confused. I have played Meny online games for the past few years, and i always shied away from games that went into so much detail as this, for fear of making myself look like a noobish fool, which is very distrubing to me... VERY! Anyway, i LOVE role-playing games and i wanted to try something new, and Star Army seems like something i would enjoy, it quite similar to Warhammer 40k, just without the Space marines to save everyones arse from the twisted hellish forces of Choas, but the ID-SOL are pretty close to them though.

Lol, to the point, i want to make a few charcters but every attempt i try go way to far for starting out. I get way to into it, and useally they are too, what you people say... Mary Sue? yea.. and i been reading the instruction thingy but i got confused. If i could ask for someone to give me a few pointers on what i should do... i would be extremly gratetfull.

Hi Ryan,
Welcome to SARP.

The first thing I would suggest is that you spend a little bit of time getting familiar with the setting.

About the Setting

You then need to decide on a faction for your character.
Playable Factions

Once you are fairly familiar with what you want. Use one of the Character Generators which will take you through the basics.

Creating a Character

Once you have the character done, you will need to go through a review process and the reviewer will point out any problems with your creation. This is nothing to be afraid of, as the reviewers are invested in helping you make a good character and get you into the games.

FYI, all characters start at the bottom of the ranks.

If you have any more concerns or questions, post them here and others or myself will be glad to answer.

hmmm... alright, ill make one when i have time. and ill try to do it right this time, i was thinking making on of those Neplisains? i belive there what there called... sorry some of the name are long

Hi Ryan, I'm Yoroko a player and GM here. The setting can be a little daunting to new players but that's okay. We don't expect new players to be as knowledgable about the setting as older players so don't worry about not knowing everything. The admins, character approval staff, GMs, and even other players are more than willing to help out new players and show them the ropes. All in all though, enjoy yourself. It is why you're here after all.

G'day mate, I'm Luca. Local Australian (along with Itkatsu Kikyo), Player and Game Master of the ISC Phoenix. A rag-tag bunch of misfits kick arse and chew gum, looking for their place in the universe as heroes.

Oh, and the Nepleslians are what you're after. We call them 'Neps' for short. Manly men who know how to fight, do what they're good at and live life to the fullest. They have an American (and possibly pre-1980's Australian?) culture backdrop.
On the the other end of the galactic pond, you have the Yamataians. I call them 'Yammies'. Genetically enhanced humans living under the banner of the Empress in a utopian society. The culture is a mix of British and Japanese.

But those aren't the only ones in this town. There are many more races out there who go from place to place, and have rich histories and cultures, but I can't remember all of the nuances of each!

So, if you have any questions or queries, don't be afraid to ask.

Fixed that post there, Luca.

Hi, I'm Cipher. Resident short post master and one-man welcome wagon when I'm not busy watching Zero Punctuation or frequenting numerous other RP sites. Welcome to Star Army and enjoy your stay. We hope to see you on the boards soon! ^^

Cipher! you wacth Zero punctuation? Bloody Awsome! love that austrailian basterd, My favorite is the Duke nukem reviem, lol. Anyway i will have meny questions, for sure. Thanks, for being patient, when ever i find time, ill make a clever little charc.

BTW, on the traits selection part, do i just come up with something there too or is there a page with a list on what to use?

Well, for a Nepleslian, traits might be things like scars, habits (always chewing on a toothpick, etc), tattoos, trademark sunglasses, style of dress, and such.

Yes, yes... hmmm, cybernetics... you think it would be common for a demolitionist to have "replaced" hands?

They did it in Republic Commando novels Triple Zero thru Order 66, so I don't see why it wouldn't be a bad idea. Just as long as you don't have one of those massive arms, the ones that are as tall and wide as the guys wearing them, with three fingers that look like triple-jointed metal sausages.
