Soyokaze, Bridge, 0645
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leave had ended the night before, though the Captain had held off leaving port until the next morning shift. With hopes the added rest would make sure everyone was up to par when they pushed off. Moving onto the bridge, Saeko moved directly for her command chair with a datapad and a mug of coffee. She was early and was the only being on the bridge. The shift didn't start for another fifteen minutes, but she wanted to have a few minutes alone with the ship.
Elsewhere
~~~~~~~~

The ship had been coming to life. Food was being burnt in the messes, Crews were bringing different stations through out the ship up to full power, and the armory and PA bay were being filled with crew. Misato had finished her morning run and was taking a shower in the PA bay. She didn't have anywhere she was needed but she figured the best place for a Cadet of her training was in the PA bay with the rest of the equipment she had be built to mesh with.

Engineering had crews moving to and fro, making sure all of the dials were all with in normal ranges. Ship's fighter crews were starting to file into their respected ready rooms, while their ground crews were readying their fighters. Slowly but surly the ship was coming alive.

The elevator door to the bridge deck opened with a distinct, fresh hiss. The Young Hei walked through its doors holding a cup of coffee in his right hand, and adjusting his uniforms with his left. He walked through the bridge doors on to the deck only to notice the Captain just sitting in her chair. He spoke clearly, but a hint of morning roughness was still in his voice, he hadn't been up very long. He walked down the levels until he reached the pit that he was soon about to call home. He sat his mug down on a flat spot on the left side terminal and logged it. He proceeded to walk over to the right terminal and power it up. He walked back over to the left terminal and sat down at the helmsman's chair. He tapped around the terminal 'waking it up' and setting it to standby. He relaxed in his chair pondering to himself for a moment before standing and walking over to the Weapons terminal. He turned it on and started to run the computer to wake up weapons to their all clear state.

He usually would have waited for other starship ops members to clock in, but he saw too many of them waiting in line at the mess to be useful. He'd clocked in as Helm and Weapons operator and was waking up his secondary terminal that he might switch to after undocking or if they ran a weapons test. When the console had set all weapons systems to their standby and stored state he turned back to the captain with a smile, "Ready for your checklist, Captain." He barely winked when he finished.

The twins, Aldis and Herdis, made their way to the bridge. They had both woken up early and gotten a breakfast in before most. Aldis still had a cup of coffee for herself, Herdis wasn't a coffee drinker at all so just rode on Aldis' shoulder. "I wonder what we will be doing as our first tasks," Herdis stated to her sister. They were both bright eyed for being up so early, but eager. "I guess we'll just have to see if we are first there or not." Aldis said back. They didn't have to weave in and out too much, for most were just now getting to the mess hall for rest, but the twins were sure they'd be needed on the bridge before most.

Upon entering the bridge, they both bowed to the Captain, "Good morning, Chusa!" They both spoke at the same time. and then made their way to the other operations areas. They noticed that Helm and Weapons were up and running. Going over, the twins asked, "Which do you prefer, Hei?" Herdis started, not quite as shy as normal now that she was in her element, so to speak. "Helm or Weapons?" Aldis continued. The twins were asking on behalf of each other, for whichever one the Hei chose, the other twin would go to the shields.

Elina boarded the Soyokaze with all her stuff in tow. She made her way through the ship, ignoring the looks of the crew she passed by going about their morning routine. She knew she was an anomaly amidst the crew. But this was where SAINT wanted her for the time being till something came up.

With the Soyokaze prepping for departure and crew moving with purpose around her, Elina was glad to enter her assigned cabin and get settled in. Most of her big stuff went under the bunk to situated later once the ship left port and she found a place to set up her equipment to keep the morale of the crew up. She smiled as it wasn't everyday a warship of the line had their own Entertainer onboard.

She debated whether to check in with the XO as she put her stuff away neatly or go exploring. She hoped that Freyja wasn't mad at her over her service pistol incident.

Jei smiled, he'd almost forgotten about these two. He was standing by the weapons console anyway, so why not stay as acting weapons. He pointed to the taller one, "You can get the Helm, while your twin gets shields, they both should be on and warming up." He smiled and returned to the weapons console and began checking the status of the more special weapons, the Shock Array in particular. He didn't want something that strong going unchecked.

He thought back to his training days back at the training ships. He'd need to keep a more careful observation the back then, as this ship wasn't programmed to reset upon 'destruction' as the instructors called it. It wouldn't be a pretty sight to be in an exploding ship, and Jei shuddered at the thought of his own, or the other starship operations officers failures.

Science Labs

Chieko could be found in the biohazards lab, sealed into an AMES while looking over the development of a few plant embryos she had altered an hour ago. They seemed to have been developing well; but it would be a couple days before the differentiations the mad scientist was looking for would appear. She rubbed her hands with glee at each embryo's growth, noting it in a private log before moving to another apparatus in the room.

There the young minkan looked in on another culture of a fungoid she had swabbed off the apple she had as part of her breakfast. It took to the nutrient substrate well and the chamber was showing the correct gas concentrations for that part of the life cycle. However, Chieko knew that she would need to remove some before the next stage, as it would halt growth and make the sample unviable for a second experiment.

Knowing she had a couple hours before anything else needed to happen, however, the academic left the lab for the decon room. There she let several types of nanites clean off every millimetre of her suit before exiting into the laboratory office. Then, upon removing her helmet she turned to the pink haired neko in the room.

"Kana, have my high pressure containment vessels arrived yet?" she asked.

"Isrun was just about to..." the neko was interrupted by another icy haired one wheeling a cart in, "There they are."

Chieko looked over the thick walled, 8 litre glass containers with special plugs on them. "You made sure they're the one way only, right?" the minkan asked with controlled excitement.

"Vent only, as per specifications," Isrun replied, "but I hope you're not doing with this what I think you are."

Both minkan and pink haired neko only looked at each other before Chieko continued, "Make sure they go into the low hazard chemistry lab." Isrun only nodded before making her way to her new destination, shaking her head as she went through the control airlock.

Clerk's Office

Hotaru, on the other hand, found herself still well hidden on her desk behind her fortress of data pads. When the piles started, she worked with them from the screens; but as they piled up the tiny clerk gave up and started accessing them remotely. This unfortunately caused her to look as if she was passed out sleeping in the only open available patch of the desk.

Thankfully, the processing was half completed, and a final check list for the captain was well on its way to being done. The rest was all small matters that did not require being in port for, so Hotaru deprioritized those. All she needed to hope for was that no one coming by to add to the pile actually tried to check on her.

The twins looked at him with a raised brow, then at each other and then back at him, shaking their heads and laughing. Aldis, the larger of the two, went to the ship's shields while Herdis, the smaller, took the helm. Aldis set her mug of coffee down to check on the pre-flight readouts for the shields, ensuring they were operational. She tested them as much as she was allowed to while still in dock, not wanting to damage anything unnecessarily.

Herdis simply flitted around the keyboard to make sure of where the controls were and in what sequence she needed to do things. She was excited to be able to fly this ship, though she'd have preferred the weapons. Oh well, maybe they could rotate jobs as time goes on.

Aldis stated, "When we were in training-"

"-we both really liked weapons and shields." Herdis finished.

"Herdis at weapons, "Aldis said.

Herdis added, "Aldis at shields."

"So either of us can do the helm, when the other is taken," both Twins spoke at the same time.

Thanks to the few days' worth of leave they had, the twins were able to become more comfortable being around some of the others on the ship. Their jointed way of talking slipping out now and then.

Bridge

Chiasa walked onto the bridge she paused to survey the bridge. The last time she was here the bridge was clearly damaged. She walked to her station and noted the presence of other crew members. "Good morning people. Ready to serve the Empire and her Majesty?" she said looking at them.

Freyja horikoshi awoke with an initial feeling of dread, at first unsure of why this was, but then remembering the events of the night before. She sighed and went about the daily activities such as a number of exercises to start off the day, a shower, and finally some food. After all of that, it was still nearly twenty minutes or so before first shift officially started.

The somewhat wary soldier decided to make her way to the armory to further ensure that she had been issued the guass sniper rifle. She had talked to somone or another, possibly mroe than one individual about it. None of them really said for sure if it was officially hers, or if they even had one. She was pretty sure that they did have one, and that they had, or shortly after she left, issued it to her.

As she walked she wondered why the first thing she didn't see was Misato heading a group of angry armed crew mates who had been forced out of bed to go and shove her in a cell for an amount of time after demoting her, and cutting off her pay for a year. Maybe the whole situation was drowned in paper work or something.

In any case, she stepped into the armory, and not taking the time to note who was or wasn't in it, made it her duty to find out if she had been issued the guass rifle, and finally get a chance to configure her mindy, wherever it was, to her personal tastes. She failed to notice Misato occupying said armory.

Jei stood up from he weapons console as it had warmed up enough and he really didn't know where to go at this point. He looked to Chiasa and nodded to her entrance. He then looked to the twins as if to say something then forgot and looked about the bridge. Consoles had warmed up, weapons systems were running in standby, as far as he knew, the engines were working, he believed the ship ready. He hadn't thought to himself, for whatever reason, that there wasn't going to be a senior Starship Operations officer on the bridge and didn't think to more or less select a console to work with. He'd accept any if ordered. to do so. He smiled a bit after the thought to brighten the area, it was his first posting and he looked forward to doing whatever he was ordered to.

Bridge

The twins were finishing up their own pre-flight checks when Chiasa walked in. They both stood, even though protocol didn't require it, and nodded to her. "Good morning, Nito Juni," they both replied simultaneously.

"We are ready to serve-" Herdis started in her tiny voice.

"-the Empire and Her Majesty!" Aldis finished.

Both twins smiled brightly at her and awaited further orders to head out. They knew it would be soon that they would be on their way to a new mission and new horizons.

Bridge

She smiled at the twins; "As you were. Let's get all pre-launch checks completed before the CO gets onto the bridge. While you are at it, contact outbound control and request a meteorological report and a traffic report."

Bridge

The twins nodded and Herdis went back to her controls to do as requested. Aldis picked up her coffee to take a sip and spoke up, "Thanks to Santo Hei Hekuna, all pre-flight checks are complete."

Herdis nodded in agreement, adding, "He had things up and running before we got here." She looked back at the screen and smiled, "Both reports are in and it looks like smooth sailing once we are ready to leave the dock. Though, our window of opportunity is closing, for it seems there's some expected meteors coming past us by 1200 hours. I'm sure we'll be well out of here by then!"

Bridge

Jei smiled at the mention of his work. he sat back down at the weapons system and checked the board one last time, "We are green on weapons and equipment."

He relaxed in the chair and turned to looking at the cadets, half out of checking how they were working, and half out of curiosity. He'd never seen twins working at the same bridge before, let alone how frequently he saw it himself.

Armory

As she worked on reassembling her Mindy, Misato thought about all of the class work she had been working on. She really hadn't thought becoming a cadet work have so much work, but here she was now hiding from a few readings and recorded lectures, down here in the armory. She as attaching the new arm when she saw Sato Hei Freyja walk in to the armory, almost, in her opinion, sulking and attempting to hide from Suzume. Shaking her head she finished attaching the arm and set the Mindy to be loaded with her normal load out. Then she turned to eye the new kid.

After Freyja's arrival, it didn't take long to locate the armory officer that seemed to just love yanking the newbie's chain. She steeled herself for another grueling encounter and stalked over, failing to notice exactly who occupied the armory other than her own person and said armory keeper. "Ma'am" she said with a bow before continuing with "I'd like to know if the gauss rifle is here... or if it has been issued to me yet." The officer was never clear when he was asked if they had one at all, when Freyja last checked unfortunately, seeming to have talked a lot about it without actually saying anything of meaning.

The Armory Officer shook thier head before speaking, "The only Gauss weapons aboard I can issue you is the gauss cannon for the Mindys.." He fell silent and went back to going over his inventories on a screen.

Misato chuckled from over by her Mindy stand.

Freyja frowned at the officer for a moment and sighed. At least now he was flat out saying it rather than just screwing around. "Right then." she replied and started looking around to see if any of the armors had been assigned to her yet, hearing chuckling and turning over to see Misato camping out in front of her Mindy. She looked over at her in some mix of confusion and mild apprehension, which had once been utter terror earlier in the day, but having not been dragged off to be reprimanded at the gave her the chance to calm down. If she hadn't been talked to about it yet it was probably either still behind mounds of paper work, or... well there was still the possibility of some serious consequences, but it just somehow seemed less so without a rapid response. She supposed on some level that it was probably time to go over and talk to her anyways, and took off in her direction at what could almost be called a brisk walk.

"They won't give you any special toys?" Misato spoke calmly, "Most likely they don't want expensive equipment going missing..." She gave her normal cold smile.

Freyja just gave a blank stare and thought about what to say for a moment. By all rights she should have at the least been talked to about the pistol. Misato's 'witty quips' weren't exactly improving Freyja's train of thought. "That is an astute observation..." Freyja replied dryly before getting a more serious tone. "All right, by all accounts I should probably at least have had a pay dock, and probably permanent demotion, maybe even jail time, did you pull in a favor, or what?" Freyja looked genuinely confused at the thought that Misato going out of her way to help her, even more so at the possibility that she was just 'let off the hook' or something like that.

"By all accounts your damn lucky..." Misato's expression darkened, "Almost cost me my chance at OCS." She paused and checked a read out on the PA stand, checking a few boxes she turned back to Frejya, "The Nito Juni accepted that this was a comedy of errors, and left it to me to make sure understand the weight of your actions." She paused to give the Hei a chance to respond.

The hei frowned and shook her head, almost refusing to believe she had the fortune of meeting one of the most patient Nito's ever. "But...." she just sighed and stayed paused to collect her thoughts."All right, I don't think that I would have let me get away with that, why would anyone else?"

Shrugging, Misato held her hands out open, "Not a clue, but there will still be ramifications for you, when not on shift you will report to the ship's maintenance team to do janitorial work, then you may take four hours before your next shift is for your personal use, sleep eat, screw off whatever." She looked pretty serious.

Freyja almost looked relieved, of course having barely four hours 'me time' every day would suck, and would entirely halt her attempts to learn to play a guitar, use the nanite blades, and of course, that included eating, sleeping, and cleaning one’s self with showers. But hey, she wasn't going to jail, the janitorial duties probably weren't going to last forever, and she was terrible at socializing anyways. Getting better pretty fast, but it was still a somewhat unpleasant experience. "That.., seems fair." Freyja said finally. "All right, anything else? I still need to configure... well, I still need to even get a suit." She refused to ask the dreaded phrase of 'how long' she saw too many other nekos make that mistake with drill sergeants, it always resulted in a longer whatever then they would have gotten before.

Misato motioned down the line of PA stands, “There is an unissued one just down there a few. Get it ready, my arm aches, there might be a combat drop."

Combat drop huh? Sounds... exciting. She thought to herself as Misato finished up. "Right... well, hope your arm gets better." she said half heartedly as she followed Misato's vague gesture, mentally cataloguing what she wanted. If this was going to be a CQC mission, she was sure she'd have an absolute blast trying to blind fire around corners and get close enough for some real close combat action. Maybe she'd ask the armory officer if he had any blades lying around, it'd help to have a melee that wouldn't light up like a blowtorch every time she tried to use it.

Labs

After a little, some additional glassware arrived that Chieko confirmed then signed off on. With that, the stocks were exactly as they should be and the three in the lab began putting it all away.

Clerk's Office

Coming ever closer to being finished the important stuff, Hotaru found herself nearly falling a sleep. Upon catching herself, the mini stood up on her desk and began doing some stretches to get the blood flowing again before setting back down to work again.

Elina's Shipboard Quarters

Elina pack away her stuff neatly according to the posted layouts in the lockers. She put her newly gained equipment under her bed, still in its cases. Making sure they wouldn't shift during maneuvers, fastening the security net in place. She knew the estimated price of the equipment and it wasn't cheap either as you couldn't place a price on a gift given in friendship.

She finished up and left her quarters to make her way through the ship. It was odd to be in civilian attire when everyone else was in uniform. Coming up upon the XO's office. She paused and then knocked briskly, announcing herself as she waited to be admitted. Her rainbow colored hair was tied back in a ponytail. She wore a nice t-shirt and slacks that had seen better days, but clean and sandals.

Bathroom

As the door to one of the stalls flew open, the Nepleslian known as Bors Riko stumbled out, rubbing his eye with his palm before staring at his reflection.

"I'm Not 18 anymore, I need to remember that next shore leave." He mumered to himself as he switched on a sink to splash some cold water onto his face. The first few waking hours of this morning had been hell, his head felt like someone had taken a bat to it during his sleep before someone dropkicked him in the gut. Though that was also a possibility, Bors was pretty sure it was caused by the bar that also cost him the majority of his last two paychecks.

Hallway elsewhere on the ship

After cleaning up a bit and putting on his tolerable face, Bors went started up his routine of daily activities. After the recent fiasco he had more than enough on his plate, or in this case clipboard, that needed to be done. Doing a quick read through he mentally prioritized the list as he blindly marched forward wondering what kind of name is Apricot for a soldier and why she needed her rifle looked at.

Bridge

Chiasa smirked with smirk #1. She was actually very pleased to have members of the bridge who not only knew their duties, but did them without lots of inane chatter. She glanced up at the upper bridge, it was darkened.

Chiasa wondered if someone may have decided to take up station on the upper level and see how the crew worked when they thought they were alone. She adjusted her vision to low light mode and could make out a figure seated on the bridge. Most likely the Co she thought and turned to her own duties.

She gave the slightest nod to the figure and took her seat and completed her checks. She also initiated a number of screens allowing her to monitor the various sections and primary system statuses.

YSS Tin Man, 0701 hours, Over Planet Mevar
In the dimly lit captain's quarters of the Plumeria-class gunship, a woman stirred in her bed to the sound of a chiming communicator. Lightly blued bedsheets slid off of pale, freckled skin, and the Taii sat up in bed, green eyes blinking off the harsh glow of the communicator on her bed-side table. A great flowing mane of red and black hair seemed to surround her, some even sliding off the edge of the bed and working towards the floor. She sighed to see the time and pressed a button on her communicator before jutting her thumbs beneath the edges of her mass of hair and pulling it together so she could start the tedious daily process of weaving it into a thick braid.

Responding to her button press, the harsh glow of the communicator melded with the lambent light of the ship's volumetric projectors. Soon, a stone-faced man was watching the Captain braid her hair while he spoke.

"Good morning, Taii. It's time for you to--" He greeted her crisply, then looked slightly downwards and recoiled in disgust. "Eugh, you should sleep in more clothes, Lulu-san."

Lulu frowned back at him blearily and then looked down at the sports bra and boy-shorts she'd worn to bed. She kept braiding her hair, but thought to maybe stop for a moment and waddle her fat at him or something. She wasn't that fat. Star Army regulations never let an officer get too far out of shape. Still, she was farming a small reserve of pudge. She looked back at the face before her and asked cutely, "You don't think I look sexy, Hon-kun?"

"Absolutely not." Replied her stern-faced executive officer, who then closed his eyes as he explained just what, in his mind, was wrong with her body. "First off, you're fat. A woman should not look like you do. She should have thin hips, long and delicate legs, small tea-cups of breasts, and take care of herself the same way a man should... You--"

He gestured to her with both hands, a look of bile upon his face, "You, Sharidon Lulu, are disgusting. Your thighs are like over-grown hams, your rump as if a pair of fatty beachballs, and sitting above your distended paunch is a set of breasts not unlike floppy melon-shaped utters."

Lulu took a break from braiding her hair to let her hands wander down her figure, tracing along each of the curves with a coy smile. "You say it like it's a bad thing," She replied, almost seductively moaning the answer. Clearly, she liked the description.

Clearly, her XO did not.

"Taii, just come to the bridge." He blurted, pinching the bridge of his nose. "The YSS Soyokaze is headed for Mevar and will arrive in two hours."

"Ah, right." She responded as she went back to braiding her hair. "We've got to somehow use a gunship and an escort destroyer to take on a heavy cruiser." There was a sigh, and the captain tilted her head to one side in annoyed sorrow. "I guess I can give it's crew a run for their money if I play it smart. Hell," She admitted with a softer sort of smile, "We might even get them to make a fatal mistake."
