RP: YSS Soyokaze A New Force (4.0)

Jei began to attack his console with a sudden grace, his hands brushing on off certain points. Safeties were lifted and energy churned. His targeting reticle flashed to the Plumeria and the computer ran the calculations. He hit the last set of primers and the array hummed with anticipation and anger. Jei hadn't noticed he was sweating as he hit the firing button.

The Aether Array roared silently as its angry beam jumped in a large eruption towards the Plumeria. Jei wiped his brow and said only one word, "Outbound."

YSS Soyokaze, Assault Shuttle

Among the members of Alpha Team crammed into the aft of the Alligator, one in particular stood out - for he was easily twice the height of those surrounding him, a fact emphasized even greater due to the fact that he was the only one who, out of necessity, had chosen to remain standing, as his massive PA simply didn't fit into the dropship's crash seats.

Said figure - a Kodian named Pavel Lazarev - was, at the moment, skimming over the crew's (non-classified) personnel files - though such an activity unfortunately did little for his nerves, which were currently in that headache--inducing realm between nervous and excited. This absent-minded style of browsing came to an abrupt halt, however, as the next record - that of the Chief Medical Officer's - finished loading itself.

Well, this occurrence is most certainly an unusual one, especially when one ponders just how few of my kind serve in the Star Army. Perhaps this peculiarity could be explained by the machinations of the Yamataian equivalent of the Bureau of Personnel - though the mental exertion requisite to comprehend their convoluted decision-making processes would be quite taxing.....

The simulated Aether blast ranged out at the Tin man, hitting her with 80% oh her hull with in the blast field. The Tin Man's computers caused a shutter to roll through ship, via inertial dampers and the gravity systems. Though this hit ripped her shields out, and killed her engines, the Tin Man was still alive, just dead in the water. The computer was reported an energy back surge through the energy systems from the shield projectors. The main relays were down and breakers all over the ship popped and flipped. The breakers were the only thing that kept the ship's engines from exploding.

Sitting in her chair, Seaka let a small smile form as she watched the Tin Man get hit, but there was still the Casper do deal with. She was curious how the little Chiaki was going to handle the far larger Soyokaze. "Once the landing craft are launched bring us at full speed away from this fight, get us around the far side of the planet." She spoke to her XO as she watched the crew work through the combat.

A few moments after Jei had given the go ahead the green light flashed on his console showing the assault teams were off.

"Then don't die..." Misato chuckled out knowing it was just a simulation, but she wasn't going to go easy on the recruit. "And if you survive... Get it taken care of first thing." She nodded to her response as the assault ship launched. The Gee forces raised as the small craft leaped out of the ship and raced for the surface, trying to escape for the large ships duking it out around her. With in seconds she hit the atmosphere and was bucking and bouncing, rattling everyone inside. Misato sat there counting the deck panels of the assault craft. Anything to keep her mind of the fact they were become a fiery ball in the sky of the planet. any miss calculation would end them quickly. Her hands shook as she reached the door in her count and started over again.

The rest of the assault force raced from the ship, along with fighters and PAs for ship defense. Soon the skies above Mevar were filled with streaks and glimmers as the CAP was dancing around through anti-fighter/pa fire from the Casper.

Joe Shook his head as he reached over to the intercom, and hit the button for the ship's security. "I would suggest you hand that over to me before they get here." he said looking at Elaine. Auska was still gathering up the disks, tossing them into a empty crate as she did.

As the two scientists were playing around with the markers, crew members were starting to be brought in and laid up and down the hall way. Most had superficial burns and cuts. Though one, supposedly from a lower deck, had third degree burns from head to toe, and was bleeding from a metal bar run through his thigh. These all of coarse were just volumetric people, but they sure did seem real.

Station 42

"Fine! Send me to the brig!" Elina smiled a bit nastily at Joe. "I'll give you a chance to back down and really think, why a civilian would be armed on a military ship." Her voice had gone cold and expression neutral. "Nor her stuff searched prior boarding for contraband, weapons and other stuff? Are you that dense Santo-Hei?" She grabbed the nearest piece of secured furniture hold herself steady when the ship shook like a wet dog.

YSS Tin Man

"Whelp, I'm takin' my pants off."

The Tin Man was dark. Where once there had been brightly lit consoles and flashing indicator lights, there was now nothing but shadows. Deep in the ship's engineering section, headlamps and floodlights flicked on as the Sephara-shan chief engineer and her swarm of mini-Nekos went about their business of pretending to repair the pretend-damaged systems. On the bridge, there was no such light. It was a world of perfect darkness until a dim glow showed Persimmon's face, the young red Neko pulling out her communicator with a sigh to check her recent text messages.

Honda's voice cut through the shadows. "Lulu-san, please follow proper uniform protocol."

"Ah, you can't see me, just imagine I'm still wearin' 'em." Lulu replied amidst the sounds of a jingling buckle, flapping fabric, and her boots clunking onto the floor one-by-one. "Or better yet, Hon-kun, just think about how if this were real we'd be dead anyway-- and if I'm gonna die, I'm dyin' with my pants off."

Lulu sighed in the darkness, taking only a fraction of the usual pleasure in tracing her palms against the soft flesh of her thighs. "I wonder how long before Mite bites it."

YSS Casper

"Captain, the Tin Man is hit. She's cut adrift!"

"Full reverse! Prepare to fold out! Retreat, re-- wait! Wait! Belay!" Mite had been about to shamefully turn her tail and flee when she noticed the obvious. The Tin Man and Casper were on opposite sides of the Soyokaze. The Aether Array was a fixed weapon on the front of the mighty cruiser. Therefore, she'd turned towards the Tin Man to obliterate her, and now Mite was looking right up the Soyokaze's thrust nozzles-- effectively looking into a place where figuratively the sun didn't shine. This had been part of Lulu's plan. Not the better part of it, but it was accounted for in the fiery red-headed Taii's wild planning. Mite stood up and pointed a finger right at those beautiful holes.

"Load positron shells, fire Mass Driver Cannons and Aether Shock Array! Fire for effect! Hit it with everything we've got!"

And in space, on every instrument the narrow gap between the Soyokaze's backside and the Casper's frontside turned into a blinding bridge of white-hot light.

Soyokaze Bridge

Herdis was doing her best to maneuver the massive ship, but even were she the size of a normal neko with the same reflexes, her best wouldn't have been good enough to get fully out of the line of fire. With that in mind, Aldis was monitoring the sensors and her own hands were flying over the controls.

"We have incoming. Diverting as much power as I can to the rear shields!"

This was the best the larger twin could do. The smaller one was too focused on flying, now that the away team was on its way to the surface.

Jei turned around to the CO and XO, "All CAP Fighters, Scrambles, Escorts & The Ground Team are outbound. All Indicators are off." Jei then turned around and went to putting a few more guns on the destroyer behind them. 5 turrets that had been almost out of shot for the Tin Man shifted behind to shoot at the destroyer at minimum range.

All Jei could think off was shotgunning the turret's rounds to the destroyer's bridge to deal a sudden "deathly" blow to their antics.

YSS Soyokaze, Assault Shuttle

Pavel winced as the shuttle's turbulence-filled entrance into the planet's atmosphere caused him to nearly tear one of the cabin's numerous handholds free from its mounting brackets.

Проклятия! Unfortunate that I do not possess the means of obtaining any tranquilizing agents - a minimal dose of one would be highly beneficial in comforting my digestive system until we have completed our entrance into the atmosphere...

Freyja had expected... well she wasn't sure what she had expected from Misato really, but that cold chuckle unnerved her, to the point where she could barely nod in acknowledgement when her superior continued.

Weirded out already, the impromptu quake the ship started as its decsent began only made things worse. They were a bright light falling from orbit, and Freyja knew this. She also knew that at any moment, they could be suddenly, unceremoniously blown out of the sky, either becuase of the enemy ships, or anti air fire from the surface.

She had rarely felt so terrified in her life, but at the same time... Freyja laughed almost maniacally, letting out an excited "WOOOO!" Despite the incredible danger, and her feeling of absolute terror, it was absolutely exhilerating to her. Like riding an amazing rollercoaster that could decide it's had enough of your crap and could buck you off any time it wanted.

The Casper came around and fired Hitting the Soyokaze's main engines. Destroying half of them, the rest were near misses and caused overloads that blew out the ship's main breakers. The Soyokaze looked to be dead in the water and the Casper the victor, but then the swarms of fighters and PAs started harassing the smaller gunship.

Just as the damage reports started feeding up to the bridge, Seako got a message from the security detail with a report about having to respond to a civilian with a weapon. Groaning and looking over at her XO, "Can you go down to the brig and solve the problem with the guest?" She asked Ise before turning back to her bridge. "Get damage reports, and keep firing on that gunship!" she cried falling back into the act. "Give me what speed you can into the upper atmosphere."

The shaking and earth-shattering rocking slowed and the flight became smoother, even with that Misato was still on a hair trigger. "OK Everyone shut it!" She growled, "We are nearing were we will be dropping from the Craft. They will circle around and give up fire-support support." Standing she looked down the line. "Everyone up and ready." Moving back she opened the rear hatch and looked out at the wind wooshed around her and into the craft's crew bay. "Ready?!?"

All Joe did in response was to shake his head and look at the door as it slid open. Security forces in their dark navy blue uniforms, along with a pair of Infantry, who were aiming their combat rifles at Elina. The first Security officer spoke in his deep Nepliesan voice, "Drop the weapon!" His statement was punctuated by the two Infantry priming their weapons.

Auska looked between the Security officer to Elina, "I would highly suggest you listen to the man..."

Freyja shut off her comms transmitter for a few moments as she giggled uncontrollably, not from anything that was particulalry funny, but some lingering affects of the terrified glee brought on by the whole expereince. Shortly after compusing herself enough to stop the laughter, but still shaking like a leaf in the electric chair, her heart beating like a drum in her chest, and her veins still feeling like the were on fire. She awnsered back with a short, possibly a tad too loud "HAI!" as she turned her transmitter back on and disconected herself from the straps, swaying from side to side on her feet already, too hyperactive to sit still in any capacity.

Something seemed to click in Jei's brain. He gave a sickening grin and muttered just in enough volume to be heard, "Gladly..." Then began whipping along the keys of his console, reassigning out of arc turrets from the Tin Man to the Casper, increasing the rate of the volleys and constantly changing targets fro critical systems.

Jei had gone into a somewhat trance, and sent quick volleys outbound with peak timing.

Both twins cried out simultaneously when their consoles went dark. "We have hit-" started Herdis. "-critical mass. All systems down," finished Aldis. Herdis looked as if she was going to cry, for she felt she had failed in what she was tasked to do. But nothing could have prepared the twins for this kind of onslaught. Training isn't quite this...intensive. Granted, that's what they were both told and knew that, in the field so to speak, more training would take place. But they had hoped to have been notified if that were the case. Aldis looked at her sister and spoke reassuringly, "You did fine, sis. I have an odd feeling that a trained pilot would have done only slightly better."

Herdis didn't look too reassured by this. The mini-neko just sat in her chair and stared at her console.

YSS Soyokaze, Assault Shuttle

Pavel exhaled in relief as the shuttle's chaotic movements ceased, only to find his brief respite interrupted moments later by Misato's announcement as the aforementioned vehicle's rear hatch opened. Ah, it appears that we are to be finally exiting this взорванный airborne vehicle momentarily, thus activating this suit's defenses would be an idea highly beneficial to the probability of my future survival. Now, let's see... Suit, activate the shield emitters and the backpack module.

A quarter-second later, the armor responded.

успех! All that remains is to enuniciate my readiness to the Shoi Kohosei an- Проклятия! The medic winced in pain as one of the cabin's other occupants - a Freyja Horikoshi, according to the HUD - practically yelled over the comms. My head.....

His ears still ringing, the Kodian replied "Ready" then paused, for Freyja's seemingly unsteady movement - observed when the former had instinctively glanced at the latter following the outburst - raised several alarms in Pavel's medically-inclined mind. Most peculiar...perhaps owing to intoxication? No, as there was not trace of vocal impediment in her speech. Motion sickness, perchance? Possible, though unknown without any further analysis, which is unobtainable in the current environment, considering our impending departure, therefore I'll have to inquire at a subsequent point in time.

Elina sighed as she complied, removing the clip from the weapon and ejecting the round from the chamber which she caught. She then set everything down on the nearest flat surface and stepped away from the now safed weapon. "I hope the cells are padded." She assumed the position to be searched. Knowing it quite well from her days as a carefree civilian back on her homeworld when she ran with the tougher element of society.

Nenene glanced at the skipper. She did not like the idea of leaving the bridge at the moment, but she had orders and nodded as she got to her feet. "I will see to it" she replied and departed from the command center.

Checking with the MEGAMI, she found that Elina had not yet been transported to the brig and made her way to where the civilian was being disarmed and searched.

Tue XO's arrival paused the process and Nenene glanced at all those gathered in the compartment. Security, infantry, other staff.

"Everyone clear the compartment, wait outside for my order" she commanded, "Except for you" she said to Elina. She did not speak again until the room was clear, leaving the two of them alone. "What's going ohere?" she asked, folding her arms across her chest.

Station 42

Elina stood up from the position of being searched. "Was in the process of being disarmed when I refused to comply. I wasn't about to blow my cover, yet giving those assigned to me to put a stop to this foolishness. Kinda paniced when the ship came under attack. Not knowing whose attacking, so I armed myself. Are we being attacked by the Mishu? I definitely ain't going be captured by them again, like the last time I was on a ship."

Elina looked hopeful at Nenene, but made no move to retrieve her weapon where it lay, unless one of the Security or Infantry snagged her gun on the way out.

Assult craft

As soon as the whole of the team gave their affirmative, Misato waved and then fell out the back of the craft letting herself fall through the air. This part was always fun, it was the whole getting into the atmosphere that bothered her. As she fell she marked in her hud different targets and transmitted it to the two teams following in from the pair of assault ships. "Once we hit the deck we need to head directly for the command tower for the base." She said as she watched weapons fire start streaking up from the grown at her and the rest of the ground team. With in a few seconds she hit the dirt and started firing back and the enemy that was holding the base.

Bridge

The Captain smiled seeing the destruction of the forces in the pace around the planet. this was turning in to a grand old simulation. she was already taking notes on things she wanted to improve and other areas that needed training.

On Jei's display he found that the base had launched fighters to help defend the two small gun ships from the Soyokaze. along with a message for the assault teams that they had reached the surface.

The twins had a other problems, the ship was still dead in the water but Engineering has sent up a message to the pilot's station that the ship's maneuvering thrusters were now back up to 90%. giving the ship bit of flight control.

Seeing it all on her own displays and SPINE connection, Seako spoke up loudly enough for the whole of the bridge to hear, "Shall we run up the white flag, and drop our colors, or does the ol' girl still have some in her?"

Outside the Radio station

Auska and Joe gave each other nervous looks as they stood there with the security force. "Sounds like she about to get the air lock..." Joe muttered to any one who wanted to comment. Auska started to giggle at the statement. The security personnel on the other hand rolled their eyes and continued to frown and look like they were really looking forward to having the Civy to give them cause to use a bit more force.

SPPPPAAACCCCEEE!!!!!!

The two gun ships continued to fight, their still functioning defense guns were keeping the Soyo's PAs and fighters at bay, though the larger ship was starting to cause them a little grief with it's guns. The Casper was still moving around to keep in the back side of the Soyo, giving the Tin Man enough time to get her engines back up to 25%.

Bridge

Aldis and Herdis both answered with a firm, "No!" Herdis followed up with a small smirk. "We still have the ability to move around, even if we can't go forward and backward."The mini-Neko's fingers flew across her keyboard, both twins keeping their eyes on their screens as the ship moved one way and then another in an attempt to keep from getting hit easily. Aldis nodded in agreement, "And I am sure Engineering will get power up so we can move even better. Though that one ship is following us rather closely. It seems to be mirroring our actions and keeping to our tail."

YSS Tin Man

The lights came back up on the bridge flickering at first, then raising to their fullest brightness. Lulu blinked away the spots in her eyes from her position over the back of her chair with one hand dipped into her purse. She raised up slightly, plucking at the black boy-shorts she'd worn under her slacks and softly said, "Status report."

"Power is restored throughout the ship." Replied Honda from the systems station, his eyes fixed firmly away from his captain's plump posterior. "Engines are up to twenty-five percent power and the Aether Reactor is cooled down enough for steady thrust. Casper is being overwhelmed by support craft, but she's putting up a steady fire on the Soyokaze's engines."

Lulu turned and sat again, reaching for the pants she'd tossed on the floor with a sigh. "Reckon they didn't finish off because Mite actually gave them a little trouble." As the redhead slid up one pant leg and then the other, she looked around the bridge with a sideways expression, considering the situation in its fullest. "Whelp, the whole plan's been ruined." She concluded at last, "Mite fucked up from the start and we took a few hits too many... Casper can hold off those fighters long enough to do something, but the big ole' bitch will float yet if we leave her to it by herself. Let's do it like they do it on your samurai shows, Hon-kun."

Honda turned in his chair to consider the captain, watching her buckle her belt again with a curious glance. "My... 'samurai shows'?"

Lulu smiled back at him. "Blaze of glory, seppuku by combat, somethin' like that?"

The XO leaned back, crossing his hands over his stomach as he made what could only be called a disappointed face. "I'm sorry, Lulu-san."

Space
The YSS Casper kept up its determined pepperpot assault on the Soyokaze's backside, its anti-armor and point-defense weapons twisting and turning to lash out at one fighter after another as the shots kept tearing away at it's bruised and battered hull. Still, for all her previous cowardice, Mite had kept up the order to fire and intended to continue doing so for as long as she could stay fixed on the heavy cruiser's tail. The Chiaki-class roared with its railguns between cries of fire from its Aether array, plunging recklessly onwards to the Soyokaze's backside without so much as a thought to the Tin Man.

And then the Tin Man awakened.

Life had been breathed into the hulk once more, and though it showed up as only a weak ghost on sensors, it would prove to be as terrifying as any phantom could hope to be. With twenty-five percent engine power, the ship could've moved back out of Aether range to draw out the engagement, or retreated altogether with clever enough use of its distortion fields. That, Lulu had decided, would not be an effective use of resources. Giving the Soyokaze an easy prey to hunt down when it finished shaking the Casper from one side to the other in its jaws like a chew toy would do little more than buy time. And so-- though it would certainly spell the Tin Man's doom-- Lulu aimed her ship point-for-point right towards the Soyokaze's center where her armored bridge and support decks lie. With their shields focused on the rear and their turrets focused on the Casper, the Soyokaze itself was as vulnerable from the front as was possible for such a behemoth. And here, in the few instants that Tin Man had life breathed into it once more, the full force of the Plumeria's Aether cannon struck out along with a ragged, mixed volley from her remaining turrets. All fire directed to cause as much systems damage as possible.

If it had been real, it would've looked really fucking cool.
