The day had been a long and boring one of naught but more, and more sensor scans and logging of now seemingly trivial scientific data. The Garden of Mu'Klamal held many secrets but as of yet had refused to divulge any to the Liaison and bridge crew of the Astarte. It was a little frustrating to be honest. The Garden was a legend to the Iromakuanhe people but it continued to remain silent save for the encounter with the strange spaceborne lifeforms days before. Even now the next shift was coming in to relieve the current staff for the day. Maybe the fresh staff would have better luck. Even the NI herself had disappeared for the day after having her pride tattered from being unable to sufficiently do her job.

Mridula sighed as she made her way down the hall to her quarters. The day had been awful, and she was looking forward to a nice rest now that she was off her shift. Her arms were crossed over her chest, and she didn't even bother to remove them from their cuddly spot as she approached the door, which slid open at her approach.

As Mridula entered her room, the lights were noticeably dimmed almost to darkness and the pleasant scents of the room welcomed her home after her long day. As she entered the lights brightened to her own particular preferences with the door sliding shut behind her. The familiar sight of the room was probably quite pleasing, except for what looked like several articles of clothing scattered about the room and somehow a boot and socks had found their way on her couch. From the looks of the littered area it was as if a Nuocr sandstorm had swept through the place leaving it more then a little messy.

"..." Mridula frowned slightly as the lights brightened a bit and she was treated to the sight of her usually-tidy room in such a mess. She started to pick up the scattered clothes and fold them while she looked around for the culprit. "What in the world...?"

The trail of clothing only seemed to lead toward the bedroom area of her set of quarters. As she picked up, folded, and continued to frown at the mess Mridula'd soon find the door had been closed to the room. Her reward? A discarded skirt right outside of the door and a notice on the wall access that showed someone was indeed in the room as it had 'Do not disturb!' in flashing blue letters on the LED display.

"...there is a naked woman in my sleeping chamber." The biologist picked up the skirt and stared at it for a moment before tossing it over her shoulder, where it landed on the large desk she did most of her work on, skidding to a stop just before a photo-frame of herself and Madhu. "Or a... crossdressing man. Saints give me strength... what if it's ibn Rashidan?" She pressed her palm to the access pad, and the door slid open!

The interior was much the same as she'd left it early today. Tidy and clean. It seemed the culprit had thankfully spared this room. The only out of place thing she could probably find was that the normally level surface of the sleeping pod was now occupied by a blanket covered lump that gave no indications as to who was there. There was a slight stirring of motion before it subsided and whom ever was in the pod seemed to go back to their rest.

"..." Mridula slipped her shoes off, leaving her in her socks, and she crept quietly over to the sleeping pod. She bent her head once she was near, listening for sounds of breathing coming from inside the blanket-cocoon.

Mridula's efforts were rewarded with the ever so slight rise and fall of a chest and soft sounds of slumber. The form rolled over on to its side then taking a more fetal position with a wordless mumble that sounded all too female. Whom ever it was, was at ease as the pod's organoid tissues began to conform about them again.

Mridula suddenly grabbed the edge of the blanket and whipped it off the sleeping figure! "A-HA!"

"Murmfh..." Went the blanket covered figure at the loud 'A-HA!' before the blanket was stripped away. Mridula was presented with an exquisite view of a familiar figure, pink hair and all as Ishtar continued to sleep. Rolling over again, the NI now on her back continued her sleep while her head turned toward Mridula as if knowing she were right there. That was not the case as Ishtar's eyes remained closed, her arms above her head and chest rising and falling in the slow rhythmic fashion of a contentedly sleeping Iroma.

"It's... you...?" Mridula was obviously taken off guard as she saw that the saboteur snuggled in her sleeping pod was not, in fact, a saboteur, but her dear friend, the tiny FIOMNI. She couldn't help but smile as she watched the girl sleep... before she realized that Ishtar was entirely naked, whereupon her cheeks turned a bright red. The older woman quickly tucked the blanket she had pulled away back over Ishtar, covering her up. "...Ishtar? Psst."

A helpless little mewling sound answered Mridula as she called Ishtar's name in a bid to awaken the NI. Her eyes did open though, if only a fraction as the lights were shining overhead and causing her some discomfort. Her head shifted position a little as she focused on Mridula through squinted eyes. "Mhm...Hrm... ?"

"...you're asleep naked in my bed." The liaison stated the obvious, bending so she could watch Ishtar's face.

Ishtar drowsily nodded as her hands came up to try and pull Mridula into a hug. The NI's face still looked more or less half a sleep before she gave up on trying to hug Mridula's neck, and instead sleepily began to sit up. Her hair was slightly frizzy from sleeping and messy as she instead of trying to fix it, pawed at her eyes unaware of the blanket having fallen off her torso again.

"Vaytulriiiiiiii...." Ishtar began as she stretched with her arms in the air, "Al-Su..Su..Meeeehhhhd" a yawn now. "Said I should sleep..." She rubbed at her bare tummy then looking up at Mridula now. "Did I do something wrong by sleeeeeeepinnnnggg." this time she stretched her legs out from her seated position, her toes wiggling as they peeked from the covers, a look of pleasure at the feeling on her face. "Here?"

"...h-haah..." Once Ishtar had moved into a sitting position, Mridula embraced her in a close hug, the small girl's bare chest pressing up to the biologist's clothed one. Her hands gently stroked at the girl's back, and she hid her blushing cheeks by hooking her chin over Ishtar's shoulder. "...no, but... uh, don't you have your own room, or something? And... why naked?"

Ishtar returned the hug with one of her own as she scooted closer. In response, the NI smiled at the questions as the last dregs of sleep began to leave her eyes.

"I haven't assigned myself a room yet... Because I didn't think I required one. But because of today the bridge crew said I was getting... grumpy?" She questioned the word a little before continuing. "And told me to go see the Vaytulri. And... And..." Ishtar stifled a yawn. "She said that I should go to sleep because I had been awake for several days. Almost a standard week." She broke off the embrace between them, backing up a little as she examined herself in regard to the last question.

"Because... it felt natural for me to sleep this way? The sleeping pods are constructed of organoid tissues and I thought it would feel much better without the hindrance of clothing. Plus, it was stuffy in your room! Too hot!" The temperature had noticeably dropped within the room at that response but thankfully not to unbearable levels. It was however much cooler then the norm. "I am more used to the cold environment of Mazerin then your Maekardan."

Mridula swiftly turned as Ishtar broke from the hug, so as not to see anything more than necessary. "...err... well, you're... certainly welcome in my rooms anytime you want, but, um." She coughed into her hand. "...I'm not... I mean you... don't care if I see you... without clothes on?"

Ishtar's face lit up a moment before waning at the responses she'd gotten. Instead her hands went about inspecting herself with an analytical frown now firmly entrenched about her lips.

"Why would I mind if you saw me without clothing? I know I am an inferior female specimen when it comes to biological measurements of the body... But, why do you ask if it is ok? "

"...inferior? What? No, you're very pretty, Ishtar! Why would you say you're inferior?" Mridula looked over her shoulder with a deep frown.

Mridula would soon see Ishtar on all fours as she crawled right up to the older woman's back. "Because, my hips are noticeably more narrow then the others of the crew by a significant margin and my chest comparisons have rated me at below average." In turn both Mridula's hips were prodded and her chest once more almost came close to being 'inspected' by the NI before she caught herself. She remembered what happened the last time something like that had happened... One of the mechanists had yelled and called her an idiot. Mridula had been baffled and the chief mechanist had been dumbstruck.

"Lanbalri Storhan is even above me!"

Mridula swung herself up into the sleeping pod, drawing Ishtar into her lap and wrapping the blanket around her to cover up her bare body. She rested her arms around the small NI and pet her long pink hair slowly. "So? That doesn't mean anything. Different people like different things, and it doesn't mean you're not pretty just because you don't knock things over with your stupidly big hips." She smirked lightly.

Ishtar blinked several times as she was once again re-introduced to the blanket before wriggling around in Mridula's lap in protest. "But I like the size of your hips! They're squishy and warm and nice. Besides, no one likes me in the same way you and Lanbalri Vandranno enjoy each other! Always hugging, and with smiles and... and... mussed hair!" She had no idea. None what so ever on the subject she was touching upon. "Whenever you are around the Lanbalri your pheromone levels increase and your heart rate as well as brain activity. I do not experience these things with anyone."

The biologist's cheeks reddened again, and this time the blush didn't stop there, spreading down her face and disappearing underneath her turtlenecked top. "I... well, maybe you're just not... attracted to anyone yet. It'll come with time." She dipped her head to nuzzle the top of Ishtar's. "And I'm sure there are plenty of people who, uh, enjoy you!"

"Lakshmi nor Enlil have trouble with these things..." Ishtar mumbled aloud as she began to swing her legs a little. "I do not understand this... 'attraction' like you seem to. I love my crew like what you refer to as the maternal bond. But I do not experience anything beyond this." she shifted her head a little, her chin coming up to try and look at Mridula. Failing miserably Ishtar sighed.

"People only treat me as the ship's NI, or as something to be feared the moment I mention who I am. Because they believe me to be a civilian at first before figuring it out."

"I don't treat you like that, do I? I've always tried to be your friend..." Mridula frowned down at the NI, shifting around on the pod. "...I s'pose I'm not very good at it, if you're feeling this way."

Ishtar winced a little. "You're very good at being my friend! It's just that I do not understand the social aspects of the Iromakuanhe first hand. I know what a friend is. But I do not understand what attraction is, nor why I dislike certain things people say to me, or act around me because I cannot figure them out as of yet. Being one of you is much harder then managing fleet assets!"

"All that will... come with time, I guess. Do you have any... more specific questions, or anything? I mean, I'm here to help, but I'm not sure where to start." One thumb stroked rhythmically up one of Ishtar's horns.

Ishtar leaned back and into Mridula, feeling a little frustrated. "Explain what this relationship is between the Lanbalri and yourself!" she pouted. "How come you both act so... differently when around each other then when apart."

"We... er... have you ever read a romance novel?"

Ishtar just shook her head. "No, Lakshmi tried to get me to 'expand my horizons' by searching OGNEIR.net several times over the decades but I refused. She said it would help me understand your kind much better. I didn't believe her. Enlil only ever helped me pick my present form. He/She said it would be appropriate to my 'development'."

"...errh. Well, I..." She rubbed her chin with a frown. "...we... enjoy each other's company. Err... intimately."

The NI maneuvered herself around until she was seated facing Mridula. "There are three definitions of that term. Each of them suggests a private relationship with one adding the implications of sexual copulation... " The gaze she'd been giving Mridula suddenly dropped as her head did as well at the understanding dawning on her face. "Th-T-That's it?!"

"...yes." Mridula coughed into her hand again, beet-red. "Saints, you just have to come out and say it, don't you..."

Pale arms suddenly flailed outward as a look of panic crossed Ishtar's face. "But... But! I didn't understand!" she squealed in panicked embarrassment. "I had no idea such things were going on between yourself and Vadranno!"

"You have recordings of it, Ishtar!"

"I didn't understand them!" Ishtar continued to squeal in panic.

"How can you not understand them?!"

Ishtar's arms flopped to her sides. "Because my databases mainly pertain to tactics, combat doctrine, and technological information for this and previous missions! I did not give such acts much thought as I was unable to experience these things while not within my lavans-body. My main focus was upon on conflicts and war! It was what I was created for."

Mridula sighed deeply and shifted off to the side, dislodging Ishtar from her lap. She rubbed her hands over her face and pushed her spectacles up. "...now that I'm completely embarrassed..."

Ishtar just stared at Mridula from her seat upon the sleeping pod. Her rosy lips were in a pout at the situation she put herself in, and that of her friend. "I'm sorry to have made you feel embarrassed... I didn't mean to! Honestly... I am just very, very new to life as a normal Iromakuanhe." She brought the blanket with her while crawling over to Mridula again. "I never got to experience things as you all have. I could only watch and listen. Monitor you all. It's why I took an interest in you, as my friend I thought you could help me understand these problematic topics."

"...you only like me because you thought I could teach you things?" Mridula sounded a bit hurt, her face falling further.

Ishtar flailed again, panic on her face once more as she did not draw closer. "No, No! I thought friends helped each other as well as being close. I-I was just too scared to ask you. Because I thought you would assume I would already know these things. When I asked you to be my friend I meant it. I was just too scared and nervous to ask for help afterward and I tried to figure them out on my own. I failed miserably."

The woman let out another long, laborious sigh. "Well, I'm glad you actually like me... but I'm still not sure what to tell you about the other stuff. I don't know what you don't know, or what you've learned so far..."

Ishtar muttered, "I do not understand the social dynamics of Iromakuanhe society. Nor relationships... or... or other things. There are too many things for me to verbally express!" She threw her hands up into the air, the blanket going with them while she flopped forward on the organic tissues of the pod. Drumming her feet, Ishtar continued. "Like how to do as you have said and attract some one. Or to learn how to properly dress myself and not rely upon Vaytulri Al-Sumed."

"Do you want to attract someone? And if you can get yourself a uniform, that should be just fine until we can go shopping again... if you'd like to go shopping with me, that is."

Ishtar's face went into the pod as if to hide before she looked up. "I do! On both things. I want to attract someone but I do not understand how. And yes... a... uniform..." She didn't care for the colors or materials of the things, preferring instead the bright and stylish clothing she'd become accustomed to.

"Do I have to wear a uniform? Can't you help me pick things out instead? Vaytulri Al-Sumed has been too busy lately to assist me. As a result I have been wearing the same outfits over and over."

"Oh, sure, I'll see what we can scrounge up, if you'd like. And... do you have anyone in mind to, uh, attract?" She scooted over and put her arms back around Ishtar in a cozy, comfortable hug, leaning against her.

"I did... but you were taken by the Lanbalri." Ishtar admitted in a bit of a mumble before turning her head to the side against Mridula's chest. "So I must look elsewhere now." At that moment Ishtar seized up, muscles going tight at having blurted that out. The poor thing started to shiver and shake a little as awkward feelings flooded her NI core that caused her to go pink all over.

"..." Mridula was silent for a very long moment before she dipped her head and gave Ishtar's cheek the tiniest of pecks. "...I'm sure she wouldn't mind if I taught you a little bit about being an Iromakuanhe. It's important, after all..."

Ishtar's blush intensified as she felt the peck on her cheek. Her chest was all a flutter while looking up at the Liaison then, golden eyes big as she squeaked out a response as her throat began to tighten. "Really?"

"Really really, Ishtar. You're the FIOMNI, you're the most important person on this ship. You need to know stuff." The bigger woman nodded sagely, though her face had turned a bit red.

Ishtar just buried her face into Mridula's chest now going shy on the woman after seeing the chocolate skin tone of the Liaison go darker.

"...careful down there." She let Ishtar hide her face, continuing to stroke her bubblegum-colored hair. "So, um. What kind of clothes do you like?"

"Swhowft hwn sweek!" The NI's muffled voice piped up as she only seemed to try and bury herself further. Ishtar began to squirm, making muffled little sounds before rearing back sucking in lungfuls of air.

"...what?" Mridula stared at her. "Saints, don't suffocate in them!"

Mridula got a close up of Ishtar's face as the girl leaned in, staring up at her with a almost defiant look on her face. "But I like them! They're soft and warm! And... I didn't know I could suffocate in them." glumly Ishtar opted to just lean on Mridula's shoulder this time and avoid the soft pillows of warmth that she'd nearly killed herself with.

Mridula blushed yet again, her mouth cracking in a grin as she ruffled Ishtar's hair. "Thanks... you don't have to stay away, though. Just be careful."

At that statement, Ishtar's head got noticeably closer to the squishy mounds of possible death as she thought of them now.

"There you go, nice and comfy." She patted the FIOMNI on the shoulder.
