Of the many VANDR that returned from the patrol that day, none were quite as damaged as those of Malik Ibn Rashidan and Zus Storhan. Malik's had suffered severe damage to the substructure and main chassis due to an incident of friendly fire, while Zus' unit was relatively untouched, but suffered extreme wear on its power train and nearly burnt out its MASC drive system and reactor. The other units in the wing had received damage, but dismemberment and armor damage was easy enough to repair, but to keep the units used by those two functional would require intensive and invasive procedures, and would keep them in the bay for days.

"Hmm." Serhan had already made up his mind about their punishment in relation to performance in the sortie prior, but figured that some kind of interaction with the mechanists that would have the arduous task of repairing their units would provide a healthy dose of perspective.

Alia was pacing back and forth, her arms crossed and head lowered, the other mechanics on the deck with her were intentionally keeping distance from the Chief Machinist for good cause, after she had seen the damage assessments along with the combat logs for the sortie, she was, to put it mildly, absolutely livid.

This was just great. Really great. Sure, Mal admitted, he was stupid rushing forwards like that. But that wasnt what caused the most damage to his unit. No, of the two people that almost killed him, only one of them was here. Savitar was no-where to be found. He was probably somewhere drinking. Damned useless coward. Now I have to take all the punishment. The Runner sighed inwardly, but stood at attention.

Zus shivered a bit, pulling her jacket tighter about herself. at the moment, she wished he was a bit fluffier, to keep out the cold better. as it stood, she was freezing in the hangar. seeing the chief Mechanist looking rather more than miffed only added to Zus' shivering, but her curiosity and sense of duty kept her standing in place, waiting for something to happen.

"Oh, good." Serhan nodded to Zus and Malik. "Just in time to hear the prognosis on your VANDR."

Mu'Tasim walked into the Hangar, the cold of the place was unwelcoming to him. "Saints Dammit..." He mumbled, at least thankful for what warmth his Moon Robe gave him. He noted who was present and took a spot a bit away from the rest of them. Close enough to hear what Serhan had to say, but far enough to where he would not interupt.

Alia turned and noticed the quartet, among them the two pilots that were the main reason she was so angry. "THERE YOU PEOPLE ARE!" She all but shouted as she marched over.

Mal promptly saluted to Alia, standing at attention. "Maam!"

Alia snapped a glare at Malik. "Don't you salute me you idiot."

"Maam, It's proper protocol to salute your superiors, Maam!"

Zus simply shivered in her coat, not quite warm enough to really care, as Malik got a good yelling.

"Trying to work on my good side won't work for people who mishandle their VANDR."

"Maam, I take offense to that."

"Don't." Alia muttered as she walked over to Serhan, "why did you bring these two here Marranr?" Alia asked.

"Though I've been a runner for over a decade, it would be for the best if you were the one to explain to them the extent of the damages, Senshirin. You are somewhat more familiar with the costs of the equipment that will need to be replaced." Serhan explained, as he adjusted his glasses to expose the faint glimmer of the top rim of his green eyes. His expression was overall, quite dim and uninterested, and generally boasting a 'matter-of-factly' tone. "Keep in mind that you do not have the authority to discipline them, however."

Alia harrumphed when Serhan said she couldn't punish them, but shrugged slightly, all her punishments were generally grueling hazardous mechanical work, and she doubted neither of the two pilots infront of her could tell their horn from a rock on the ground. "Paralovi, being the lesser damaged of the two is being talked about first." Alia muttered as she walked over to a Diagnostic screen, "While it's superstructure and equipment are fine, it's MASC system and generator are totaled." She turned to Zus. "You managed to burnout your Jump system by not letting it cooldown after jumps, basically." Alia turned back to the screen. "We will replace everything, but the rough cost is nearly 800,000 KD.

Zus nodded, her teeth chattering slightly. The VANDR she had used at El Bazr never had that problem, but she had used the Unit in space, so perhaps there was a difference. She wondered why the parts cost so much, but was too numb to really worry about it.

Mu'Tasim's eyebrows raised some as the totals were mentioned. Also a little surprised at the extense of the damage. He hadn't exactly read the reports, but it all seemed a little much.

Mal looked at the screen, fighting back a scowl. Zus had ruined her MASC drive, but his VANDR was sure to be worse off.

She then turned to Shamshir's diagnostic screen, to show most of the unit's structure in red outlining. "Shamshir on the otherhand, was damaged severely." Alia muttered, a sharp disciplinary tone in her words. "Eighty-five percent of his superstructure, along with all his non-drone armaments have been either damaged to the point of scrap, or in need of heavy reconstruction. While his Organiod structure can be replaced and fitted with non-rejection stimulants, his technological equipment will all need to be replaced." Alia picked up a clip board and flipped through the pages on it for a second. "All totalled Shamshir has recived nearly ten million, six hundred twenty thousand KD in damages and replacements."

"The base will, naturally, pick up the tab, but the higher ups are rather displeased with the total cost of this one sortie." Alia said, after tucking the clipboard under her arm.

Malik winced in pain as the readout came up. "This...." He stepped back. He knew he had done a number on it by overheating, but this was so much worse. "This is my fault. I should never have even sortied for that mission."

"While I agree with you Malik, the problem was more then just you being there." Alia muttered.

If you say that again, Vayshirin Rashidan, I will grant that misguided wish. Serhan thought to himself, holding back his words so as to not take away from what was being said by the Chief Mechanist. "Hmm."

"It's my fault. IF I hadn't jumped in, Vayshirin Anata and Vayshirin Storhan never would've fired on me, and Shamshir wouldnt be in such a state."

"Marranr, why do you have such a defeatist on your wing?" Alia asked, as she glanced over to Serhan. "Not even Shamshir is being this moppy abut his injuries. And here we have his runner being a baby."

"It would be natural for the ANIOS to enjoy all the attention being given to him. But as for this Runner..." Serhan answered, pausing for a moment as he scratched his chin. "I intend to make him worth the expenses of this sortie, especially when he says things such as 'I am only smart as a Frame Runner' before his first mission."

Alia scoffed at that remark. "He's not much of a runner for his smarts then."

Zus giggled at Alia's scoffing, quietly, trying to cover it up as more shivering. "On my part, I did not realize that using the MASC drive like that in Atmosphere would put so much strain on the unit"

"It's because of the venting System the VANDR use. Waste heat is easier to vent in space then in an atmosphere." Alia replied. "With that noted, please remember to give Paralovi at the minimum about two to three seconds to cool it's systems before you MASC jump while in a planet's Atmosphere."

Malik stepped away, his eyes still downcast at the floor. "I know i'm not a good pilot." He stepped forward again, looking straight at Serhan. "I know i'm not a good pilot. No Rookie is. But I can- No, I will improve." The Runner's gaze turned towards Alia. "And shall you say something to my two wingmates who fired on Me, causing most of that damage to Shamshir!" Malik's eyes were alight with a purple fire, a slight grin on his face.

Zus piped up "Wasn't my fault the guy used you as a shield, Malik. Don't act so bitter about it. None of us would have expected it."

"Are you going to continue insulting me, or are you going to work with me on figuring out what the hell the black frame's hands were doing to the CIVWS?" Mal looked fiercly at Alia, then turned his head to Zus. "You're my wingmate, and I can't stay angry at wingmates."

"I have nothing to do with the Sorties of Frame Runners." Alia muttered, raising both hands. "All I'm here for are the VANDR and their care."

"Last time I checked, the Mechanists and the Runner were supposed to work together in order to improve each other's performance."

"..." Alia glared at Malik through her goggles. "Speak like that to me again, and you'll see what mechanics have to do."

"Don't speak to any of the runners in Bahram Wing disparingly for damaging a VANDR, and i'll show you what this idiot can do. We feel it just as bad as you do when our partners are damaged because of our carelessness."

"Storhan is correct, Vayshirin Rashidan... and I would have done the exact same action where I in the position of your enemy." Serhan said, coolly, feeling that the situation had begun to unravel. "Do not assume or present the notions you believe to be true, when they are not. A Mechanist is to our weapons that live, as Caregivers are to us, those who live as weapons."

"... Marranr, please control your clod, before I show him how you clean a VANDR's vents." Alia mutterly flatly as she glared at Malik.

"Idle threats will get you nowhere."

"Rashidan." Mu'Tasim piped coldly, "Restraint."

"It isn't one." Alia muttered, "but, idle boasts won't get you anywhere either. You should just be thankful that I like VANDR enough to have Shamshir repaired from your loonacy."

Malik quickly shut up, and saluted to Mu'Tasim. "Sir."

"Neesh."

Mu'Tasim looked up at Alia, and frowned at her dissapprovingly.

"No insult sir." Alia said, with a slight bow to Mu'Tasim.

Zus simply placed her head in her hands, rubbing her eyes, Malik and the Mechanist were giving her a headache.

"Remove the knife from your tounge, and perhaps there will be no need for such apologies. We are too caught up in our own emotions at the moment. I say we deal out the disciplinary action, and move on with our duties." Mu'Tasim said, looking at Alia at first, and then to the rest of them.

Mal glared at Alia, and held out his hand for her to shake. "I apologise for disrespecting you, Alia Jyotsna."

"I don't." Alia said, while turning and leaving the group to oversee the VANDR maintenance.
