It appeared as a comet in the night sky of Su'Kaan. A burning streak of light slowly growing larger as it descended down through the atmosphere. Hypnotic. Elegant. None who observed it could seem to take their eyes off of it. Some cultures worshiped comets and falling stars, hailing them as omens of good fortune, or even something that granted wishes. Arta however came from a culture that viewed such events are ill and deadly. She gazed on through her HUD system, and felt her heart race with a mixture of confusion.

They had only just landed, Her, a 12 of her troops, a group of mixed civilians and the drop ship. This was only supposed to be an investigation. With out a word, and quite suddenly contact with the Feoria was lost, and the cruiser was now burning up as it crashed into the atmosphere. Hundreds of good people were now dead, and they had only just arrived in the system

"General...what happened?" A Yamataian woman with short blond hair asked. Arta looked at her bronze stars and nodded "no" at her. "Their last transmission was a critical failure of the hyper drive system."

Arta moved over to her Hiksha, and hopped in. "Alright. The ship is dead. We move forward with the mission. Any questions, concerns or complaints? "

It was true the Gartagens were not when compared to the other races of the Kikyo sector covetous with their equipment. Though Nepleslians did on occasion appear in the Union military. They generally appreciated Gartagen arms and equipment.

The small convoy's engines revved and they were off . The darkness surrounding them was haunting. this planet had a fine set of rings around it which gave the nigh sky a heavenly almost ghostly glow. Mark would find him self sitting comfortably among a bunch of civilians. Technicians, and science types who had come along to try and repair any equipment failures that may have occurred. The rapid reaction force was here strictly in case the situation was hot. But with the ship gone, they were now currently residents of this world.

Arta hated this situation already. But this was her bread and butter. This was the primary function of the RRF in peace time. With the lorath attack on Gamjie every colony was now important. Arta looked down at Mark observing the man. He was wearing a type 31 field uniform. The Edjia armor wasnt made for humanoid biology, and the Star Army no longer used the type 31, so the Union opted to purchase them for their humanoid members and support staff.

"What brings you out here pinky?" Arta asked cordially. He was a new addition to her kith. The first time she had been home and years, and all the Union could say to her was "Here is a promotion to general, and some fresh replacements. Oh by the way here is a mission."

"I don't see many Nepleslians in the RRF, so when one shows up I have to ask."

Yhu sat in the vehicle, holding onto the side as they went over bumps. She was requested to come in case the colony needed help to liven up their crops, and she happily obliged. But the real reason she came was because her daughter and grandchildren moved to this colony when it was created, despite all the reasons Yhu gave not to do it. Now they are gone and their ship is destroyed to return home. It was going wonderful so far.

Somehow she ended up in the vehicle with the leader of this little expedition, some little Sermac. She could not say that she liked the woman, but that was just old prejudices coming through her. All around her was darkness, and with her worse by the day site, she couldn't see five feet in front of her. The wind was blowing her hair into her face when she looked over to Arta. "So how far away are we?" She said, not liking the ride in the vehicle, and wanting to direly find out what has become of her family.

Godric thought that this entire scenario was awesome, and cut straight out of high budget film. You have the eccentric military personnel with very real and massive fire power, and the caring grandmother with a mission who journeyed out with them to find her dear family. The only thing that ruined all of this, was the presence of Godric himself, a weak and strange man compared to those around him.

Unlike the others, Godric had no real purpose being here. He was merely a ship's janitor who worked for scraps of food and pity change in KS. He only was here because the Gartagens asked for volunteers to help with the rescue effort if anyone, by any chance, survived. They also offered a place to stay after all of this drama ended for a while, and offered a white backpack if he agreed to sign up. Godric could not refuse such an offer, he would need somewhere to sleep, and if things got really desperate for him, he could sell the backpack to keep him going for another day or two. Godric would not let this opportunity slide and tightly gripped his newly acquired backpack with his janitorial gear and all of his puppets.

For now he sat in silence observing the most prominent figures with guns around him, "Man, I just can't wait to get back to the ship with some people to bring abroad you know?"

Luna had been staring at the sky and watching the ship burn up as if it were a mild fascination. Her muzzle parted slightly in interest as she stared. She heard the comments around her, but she paid little mind to them for the moment. Part of her wanted to be at the crash site, to see if by some stroke of luck anyone had survived. They would likely need all the medical personnel they could possibly get their hands on, and that included the SAoY Corpswoman who was with the Gartagen Rapid Reaction Force for an officer exchange. She wore her type 31 working uniform, Teal chest to identify her as Medical Personnel. Her hair was done up in a loose ponytail, making her doglike features even more pronounced, not that the distinctly doggish face didn't scream "Not Normal".

Still, once she got her fill of the scene, she gave a sigh. So here she was. Then the man next to her said something, nd she looked at him with a small look of unfocused curiosity. "You wish to return to the ship?" She asked, voice soft with genuine curiosity, looking back out the window. She then pointed to the burning object about to either make an impact or cross the horizon. "I don't think that would be wise... Unless you wished to help the survivors. I think something happened, perhaps in regards to the Hyper Drive system failing. Though, that would just be a speculation," She sighed, looking back to the man. "Oh, but I am sure we will be fine. It probably happens more often than the designers like to say, as I did not see any signs of weapons being fired. Strange... Or perhaps it was a ghost... That would explain the sudden failure on an otherwise well-maintained ship I am sure," She added, going back to looking out the window. "The sky is very pretty here. Maybe said ghosts wish to protect it?" She finished, resting her face against the pane.

The way she spoke seemed dreamy. Like she wasn't actually speaking to anyone in particular. Until that moment, she had remained silent, enjoying her time just looking at the sky. She seemed disconnected from everything that was happening and everyone who was around her. So much so that it may have been a slight shock that she had said anything at all, and if one wasn't the type to pay attention, could have completely missed that she had said anything at all.

Arta turned her head to the old woman sitting next to Mark in he back of the Hicksha. Arta had her full armor on, but her rebreather hung around her next, revealing a purple gear shaped face. "About 3 miles away." She responded.

The vehicles bumped and rocked on the rough terrain and the warmth of the air was heavy with humidity, but the sounds of life were all currently present.

"The colony should be giving off a good bit of light, but the sky is dark." The driver, a Gartagen said.

Godric Twiddled his thumbs when he heard the mentioning of ghosts. No no no, he did not want a part of that, whenever there are ghosts, people die in the most horrific ways or a greater power is threatening innocent bystanders. The worst thing about ghosts is that if they really exist, then no one could hurt them the same way they could hurt the living.

"They are probably pirates, bandits, eh uh, that sounds more reasonable no? Probably some plot to quickly loot a ship." Godric wriggled uncomfortably, "ghosts are kind of a stretch.... don't you think? Oh, and uh..."

Godric pointed at luna

"I like your hair." saying with a smile as Godric pointed at his own white hair.

Luna looked back at Godric at the mentioning of her hair, looking him over again. There was a brief pause as her eyes glinted with a slight amount of criticism, but she was being critical of his state, not his actual person or comment. She turned to face him, crossing her oddly shaped legs, head canted to the side just softly enough to be noticed. The way she moved did not seem natural in the slightest. It was like she flowed as a brook, gracefully, but with just enough chaos to make the motion appear beautiful to most.

She reached out, placing a hand comfortingly over his ear, thumb running across his cheek slowly as her almond shaped, icy blue eyes looking into his own, pink eyes. "Relax. Do not be afraid of the possibilities. If you are afraid, then the Ghosts will know you have a reason to be afraid of them," She said, smiling a little. "And in this wonderful galaxy, nothing is a stretch. Anything could be possible. Though again, there was not any sign of combat, and our leader did just say there was a hyperdrive failure. I am merely trying to speculate on why the hyperdrive would fail. I do not believe it was due to ship crew incompetence, given I am certain thy would have all enjoyed to continue living," She sighed again, dreamily turning her head away to look at the unpolluted light, not removing her hand. "I suppose it will be a mystery? Does anyone have access to long range communication? We may need to send word to someone about what has happened," She finished, removing her hand from the Minkans face and going back to staring out the window.

A few moments passed, before Luna would say anything at all. "I always thought that animals in the forests of Geshrintall who were Albino had some special purpose... Perhaps you are the same," She commented, not looking at the Minkan. "Though I guess we are both strange... Who is stranger yet? There is always one who is just slightly more out of it than the other. Tends to make them... Interesting."

Yhu sat silently, peering into the darkness all around her. As she brushed her hair away from her eyes, she heard talk of ghosts. A grown woman like that girl should not be believing in ghosts, she thought. In the distance she could hear the crashing waves of the ocean in the distance, it sounded so beautiful. Just being in the world, hearing the wildlife as they drove through the thick forests put her in a good mood, which rarely has happened before. It was just something about a Gaia class planet that did this to her, the magnificence of it. She looked in the sky, seeing the rings that illuminated the sky. It almost made her wish she had moved with her family to the colony. Despite her lacking sight in the darkness, she could see the outline of plants due to their bioluminescent, which was curious. She had never seen it in the wild before, due to spending her entire life on her homeworld. The elf girl continued to go on about ghosts, which was interrupting her thought process, trying to keep her mind off her family. Yhu signed, leaning to look over towards the elf. "There is no such thing as a ghost, girl." She said simply. "Believing in that crap can get you killed." She added, returning to her observations, avoiding random thoughts about what her family is currently up to. As they rode, she tried to tune in on any animal calls.

The wind infuriated her though, making her mobile hair go everywhere, which did hurt her, although she did not show it much. Yhu was not in the shape she use to be, and the bumpy terrain was starting to hurt her rump, and by extension her tail. "I must get out of this vehicle soon." She said finally, directing the comment towards the leader of the little expedition.

Tingles were sent sprawling all over Godric's body and his face flushed red as soon as Luna's hand made contact with him. S quiet 'ho ho ho' escaped from his lips. Nothing but the look of shock and confusion was present as his grip on his bag loosened a bit, and listened to Luna's voice. Godric wondered if Luna had ever studied philosophy in her past, it certainly seemed like she did, and he became lost in her words. When she removed her hands, Godric still fidgeted with his fingers with a wide expression, feeling cool compared to mere seconds ago. That was a bit hot he thought, and ingrained this moment into his memory. Perhaps if he were write his own play one day he would use this scene.

His heart skipped a beat when Luna spoke again out of no where. He became once more enthralled by her manner speech. It was poetic in his eyes, and when she finished speaking he had two thoughts. The first one was that he realized that he LOOKED albino to most non-Yamatains, no one at home assumed he was albino because they first assumed that he desired too look that way. The second was that there was no possible way that Luna could be stranger and no more interesting than Godric himself! He would this well known and ruin break any semblance of ice during this trip now that Yhu ruined the thoughtful atmosphere. So he stood and began warming his voice with a little jingle. Mostly to avoid getting caressed by Luna and to prove a point, that he, was by far more interesting.

"Arg arg what do you see, can't you see that a pirate is free?"

Now his voice grew deep, and then he sang a tune he just came up with that sounded similar nephslian music.

"So now we're driving we're free, we're free before the firestorm, on towards the desperation now our time has come. Far beyond the sundown, on our ways to moon light, day after day, this misery can't go oooonnn!"

Luna continued to stare out at the window when the elder gart started to scold her for believing in ghosts. It was insightful, the idea at the very least. Someone upset about harmless stories that could bring comfort. It did not seem to bother her, seemingly ignoring the seemingly older gart woman. "Strange...The idea of simply believing in spectral entities could get me killed. Though I suppose believing in anything could get me killed. Or anyone here killed. I could believe I can breathe water, or that I am merely graced by the gods to be bullet proof... Those are beliefs that would get me killed..." She pondered, not actually speaking to Yhu, but more thinking aloud.

"Maybe that a poison is actually a cure? Beliefs of all sorts could get me kill I believe, however, I do not believe my thoughts on ghosts is a part of that. Maybe. Perhaps, they are real and my belief that if I am not afraid of them, they will not hurt me might allow one to lure me into its grasp and kill them there. I suppose I should continue practising a healthy amount of caution, related to the point. I would not like to be killed by a spectre..." She finished, just as Godric began singing his song.

She looked at him, patiently, waiting for him to finish. Her face did not indicate any desire for him to stop, nor any negative emotions. She was just watching, the slightest hint of enjoyment on her face. When he finished, she giggled. It sounded soft, musical even as she brought a hand up to her muzzle in the attempt to muffle herself. "That was cute... I liked it. Did you come up with it yourself?" She asked, composing herself from her laughter rather quickly, looking back out into the sky. "You must have done some kind of acting in your past. Maybe stories are a passion for you?" She asked absently, fascinated by the pretty colours of the natural fauna and flora.

"Perhaps, you are writing one at this moment? Maybe we are all free willed pawns in a story that may soon yet grace the galaxy? Coincidentally, but deliberate all in the same way," She sighed, drawing shapes that no one else could see on the winow pane. "I was wondering why a Janitor had joined us for this expedition. Hardly a Janitor at all, hmm?" She asked, her questions as always worded rhetorically. She didn't seem to care if she got a response or not. She was mainly talking to herself, and if anyone responded, to her it seemed like a pleasant bonus.

Ghosts. The elderly Gartagen stated there were no ghosts, but Arta had seen ghosts in her life. Through they haunted her dreams. She smiled softly at the elderly Gartagens matter of fact tone in the face of spiritualism.

"Ghosts are real. Only they live in us and haunt our memories. I can say however Monsters are under your bed. In your closet."

The convoy came to slow steady halt. "General" a voice called out loudly over the vehicle radio. "We have an expectant civvie." Another female voice chimed in.

"Hold position. Secure the area. I'm bringing the medic."

Arta hopped down off the Hiksha. Began barking orders at the other vehicles whose troopers hopped down and formed a defensive perimeter around the vehicle line.

Arta then pointed at the elderly woman, the janitor, the medic and her new human trooper. "You four with me. I need some civilians there to contain the word just in case. We found one of the colonists. Alive. But not for long."

"Oh thank all of the Celestial beings above that exist!" Blurted out Godric.

He quickly dashed to Arta and followed close behind as fast as he cool, looking to avoid Luna's questioning and use mark as a buffer between them. He thanked higher beings for this well timed moment, but he also became mindful and glad that someone was saved!

"Also in case anyone was curious, yes I did come up with that on my own, just now. Hope you enjoyed it. Did you like it Captain?"

Godric hoped he would never be embarrassed like that again, and vowed to act cooler next time. For now, his plan was was to maintain some distance from Luna in order to keep his... impulses... in check. He always wanted a traditional romance... and she did sound extremely smart and he was tempted to speak to her about random objects... No, no no. That's dumb he thought, People were in danger and his own life was a mess, thus is was pointless to think that about right now. He felt he needed two more years to stand up on his own before he could do anything else. Instead he put his mind into the captain's reply and how to properly act like a solider.

Yhu honestly dozed off a few seconds into the elves speech, simply rolling her eyes at the long over-drawn speech. Taking her attention elsewhere, having no time to think about that girl. But all that did was get her into trouble with herself, as she started thinking about her family. Her grandchildren, her daughter, and her son-in-law. They could be dead for she knew, or everything could be ok, but the dire circumstances made her think otherwise. She simply tapped her knee nervously, watching all around the car, as if no one else was with her. As they stopped, she hopped off the car even before the general, then listened hastily to what she said. No, no, no, no. Please, she thought to herself, her face having somewhat of a frown on it. She then peered over, with a little bit of a sneer, "A man is on his deathbed, and you decide to talk about that?!" She barked at him, then faced forward, walking right next to the general, sometimes even ahead of her, motioning them to walk faster.

Luna frowned a little at Godrics sudden explosion. She didn't have time to ponder, nor did it really bother her that much. She had gotten used to such reactions. Everyone reacted like that to her when she tried to be kind. Part of her had hoped this Minkan would be different, but oh well. The Galaxy continued forward as it always would, even if she felt she was in the same place. Patience would allow her to move forward, and even a single step was progress to her. Though in this case, her progress may have been several step backwards, thankfully not directly backwards. Only in that general direction.

Still, she got up, taking her gear with her. She understood the situation, and despite the fact, she was moving with a large amount of purpose, she seemed to be diddling. Her movement was graceful, and she easily kept up with the group, but outwardly she held no air of urgency. One could even assume she was literally walking through a park with how she still seemed to admire the scenery around her. Still, the large medical kit that she hefted, with the auxillary pack clipped to it to give her more options in a medical situation told the story that she was ready to provide medical assistance.

"This is a beautiful night... Soothing, relaxing..." She commented, walking along. "I only hope Mishrinel gives me the strength to save this person. Though if it's their time, I cannot make any promises. I only have what is in my pack, unless there is a medical centre nearby that we somehow do not know about," She passively commented.

Arta led the group for a brisk walk up the convoy. She moved with sharp purposeful grace, but her weapons remained slung over her back or in their holsters on her belt.

The drew close and closer, seeing the rrf troopers in their armor fanning out defensively in response to this. The noses of the night in this part of the wood had halted. None of the bioluminescent plantlife were exposing their colors, and the tame floating insects that gave the land its teal hue had vanished. Here there was only darkness, and the lights from the vehicles the expedition was traveling on.

As they approached a pained wail erupted through the verdant jungle.

The group would come to a clearing, and see four RRF troopers having formed a perimeter, with the fifth standing over a battered broken Yamataian woman.

A spot light from a Hiksha illuminated the local area.

She was naked.

Laying in a pool of her on hemosynth blood---her blonde hair having been turned dark red by the fluids she had expelled.

It was clear she didn't have very long to live.

Her right thigh was open and the synthetic muscle of her thigh spilled on to the ground next to her.

She had numerous smaller fleshy cuts in. In the small of her back was a sister sized hole.

She wailed loudly again, and her limbs began twitching.

Godric stopped. He had seen this exact same scene before, but this time he knew, it was all very real.

"Argh wh- what the fuck...", Godric cringed at her wailing.

He stood back, behind where the RRF trooper stood over her. It was clear that she wasn't going to survive, because of that, Godric felt he heart irk. So he stood and waited to either move on, or to provide help. Whatever he was told to do, he still hoped he could find someone living. The chances were low though, he realized.

"Damn".

Yhu walked quickly behind Arta, noticing how as they walked farther, the plants stopped glowing. When she turned around, she saw bioluminescent all around their vehicles go dark, but in front of her....nothing, just pitch blackness as it was all around her now. It made her worry even more about her family, but the entire colony should still be there, there is no way they all just up and left. As they approached, she could see the guards surrounding a body, and with a sigh of relief, she smiled for a mere moment until she saw the full extent of what was happening. It was not her family, but the girl was still in pain, and what if her family ended up like her? She would not be able to stand it. Despite her feelings, she decided to go over to the group observing the girl. The girl reminded her of a friend she had in her rebellious days.

Her friend was attacked and killed by a desert strider, and all the wilde life went quite around them- the plants, the animals, everything. To Yhu, it was weirdly familiar to that. As if they were scared of something, or someone that is still around. As she observed the girl, she was shaking, as it was obvious that no animal did this to the poor woman. Whoever did this to the girl was a sentient being- and she or he was still here. She tried to calm down by taking a deep breath, but her mind rapidly switched from imaging her family on the ground as the girl, to the scared feeling she had when the desert went silent as her friend was attacked. "We need to return to the vehicles. Right now, we NEED to return." She said, hitting Arta on the shoulder, slowly backing up a few feet from the dieing girl.
