Previously Submitted? Laser container was previously submitted, pretty much just resubmitted as-is since this is how the container is supposed to be used: as part of a weapon submission.

Notes:
The planet-cracking opreation has been mentioned a few times in RP, but it hasn't been put on the wiki yet.

This suggestion has been implemented. Votes are no longer accepted.
I'd like to just add in that the "planet cracking operation" hasn't seemed to have happened yet... Which means that, effectively, this is referencing future events. I'm not sure if that'll factor into anything or...?

It’s been mentioned a few times in RP, including planning and jack sending the ships out to do it but we haven’t really gone there or shown it on screen yet.

As for the sub articles, you can post any problems you have with them here. That is sop. If one has enough to warrant being broken out I can start a new thread for it.

Thanks to Jack for pointing to the thread where we talked about blowing up the planet.

"BUT YOU HAVEN'T BLOWN UP THAT PLANET I ASKED YOU TO BLOW UP YET HAVE YOU!?

Fucking do that already...."

I didn't see any indication in the rest of that JP that they had imminent plans to do so. I'd suggest just RPing that, and getting all of the trouble done with.

No one is interested in blowing up a defenseless rock. It’s easier for us to talk about it and move on.

But I like looking at things exploding :c

(On a slightly more serious note, planets being destroyed/"cracked" seems to be a rather large thing to do - the original Star Wars had Alderaan's destruction as a fairly significant plot point, and one of the recent Stellaris expansions was primarily focused on creating giant ships to destroy planets with. Planetary destruction, based off of these, is a somewhat important event it seems. Arguably, both of these instances are of weaponized destruction.)

Though I imagine that it would still be a little awkward if one of the planets in the Kikyo Sector sorta just went... "poof". I don't know how much word's gone around so far ICly but I imagine that it would probably at least get the attention of a few people of some degree of importance, and having RP about that might be fun to do. Heck it might even suffice as RP-based coverage for the operation itself! (Maybe)

To put things in perspective, high end power armor weapons are city-killers, high end fighter weapons are planet-killers, and most starships are outright planet-busters.

The Plumeria is a star-killer / system killer, and that’s about where things top out right now.

Well, most of the time a Tier 9 weapon is decent against a corvette...I don't think a corvette is planet sized. I mean, technically by what I'm assuming is your scale (damage over a massive amount of time) then even a handgun could destroy a building. Just shoot enough bullets into a structural support.

High end Tier 6/7 PA weapons (like Yamatai's giant bazooka laser cannon) can reliably wipe out a sturdy concrete house. It'll cause massive damage, be "potentially lethal" as per DRv3, and yes it can blow up a city, but you'll have to march through the streets in your power armor blowing stuff up.

Not even Yamatai can destroy a world. They "glass" them, if you recall your SARP history. This means that they orbitally bombard it until the planet's silicates melt and form glass, but it doesn't actually destroy the planet itself. If you mined through that thick layer of glass you'd probably find a few resources still around.

And oh, dear lord, you really can't kill a star with a Plumeria...

We calculated the DR of a planet due to the submission of the Izanagi dreadnought, a battleship with a Tier 17 weapon on a Tier 15 dreadnought. And if Tier 15 was a dreadnought, assuming some form of exponential or logarithmic function, we plotted it out and got that the earth is somewhere around Tier 19 or 20. I forgot the proper number. The sun, OUR sun, is therefore most likely around Tier 23 or 24.

The Plumeria's main gun is Tier 13.

Good luck.

It looks like the Izanagi's main weapon is a tier 15 as well. I'm going to do some math of my own, I'll be back in a bit.

So after doing the math, I've discovered that traditional weapons like lasers and aether weapons, surprise, don't kill even planets.

I’m not a fan of DRv3, but I’ll give Fred a rest here and focus on the weapons in the context of DRv3.

Yes, there are lower end power armor weapons like the HPAR at Tier 5, but keep in mind that is a rapid fire anti-tank mine that would absolutely shread a modern day tank. You use these weapons because you want to destroy the bad guy but leave the city intact. If you don’t care about the city then your power armors can employ tier 6-7 nuclear weapons. A power armor diving on a city at full speed would also be powerful enough to kill everything on that side of the planet, and we are still at what can be accomplished with some good power armor.

Starship weapons are several tiers above what you can do with a power armor. The Aether Shock Cannon being a special case as it is (Situationally) the most powerful weapon in the setting. Sure it is only tier 13 but that is 13 everywhere in the AOE and that AOE isn’t slowed down by passing through a planet. You could fire the cannon from Venus, have it pass over Mercury, then hit the sun, imparting a lot of energy over the entire mass of the sun almost evenly. Physics happens, and that triggers a small nova with a lot of mass escaping from the star. Maybe Wazu will write a book about it some day “All of the ways I can blow up a star: By Heram J. Wazu”.

Iirc the Iz is explicitly a star-killer with that transposition cannon. Wazu did blow up a star using one earlier in SARP history.

Sadly the anti-ship missiles we had were removed from the setting, so now we just have generic non-wiki missiles that got completely used up... however weapons like this usually packs few of anti-matter, more than enough to extinct a normal sized planet by itself. Landing a few on a smaller that earth world is definitely going to crack the crust open. Landing a lot of them in the right way is going to open up the planet and reduce the surface gravity enough to make resource extraction easy-ish.

So long as the C8 is made at Howard Station by an FMS Shipwright using local materials and labor FSCorp will absolutely accept this contract and will build it at cost. The Banking Service can now generate Arcmarks without a problem so we can afford it. This kind of project helps move money.

@Zack do the previous guideline of DRv3 and I think everything will be alright.

If you want the same tier weapons as the ship, then do 8 of them, max.
