[Carthage] Stellar Road Class Expeditionary Cruiser

I already put a link in this thread that showed the restricted tech. Did you see it?

I meant to look at other starships. See what other weapons they use. For instance, torpedoes are in vogue again.

That's correct. Aether generators, if you can buy or replicate the technology, are not restricted. Using aether for weaponry is restricted.

Okay, you don't seem to understand the seriousness of aether weapons, so I'm going to help out here.

Aether weapons aren't just really destructive weapons. Oh no. That would be too easy. Basically, anything touched by an aether weapon is erased from existance. Literally, when something is destroyed with aether, there is less matter in the universe. Total annihalation of matter. And what happens when you get annihalated matter? You get a huge release of energy - meaning, not only have you destroyed matter, the energy released by that destroyed matter damages things around it.

Now, you may be thinking, 'Big deal. Antimatter does the same thing.' But antimatter has quite a few things going against it - it's scarce, hard to produce, and difficult to handle - much less deliver to your target. It also has a tendency to blow up in your face.

Not so with aether. Aether can't blow up in your face because it doesn't exist until you call upon it. The delivery system is much smaller and less prone to failure - the standard weapons on Yamatai power armors are all aether-based. And aether isn't scarce because it exists everywhere, all the time.

Now do you realize why aether weapons are restricted?

And on FM's well-written note, that's also why you don't want them -- aether leaves a trace, a trace that can be tracked, and if Yamatai tracks it back to you, your entire corporation goes up in ... well, nothing. Yamatai would probably level that kind of punishment on Nepleslia, if they were in a position to. They'd at least negotiate to retain dominance over the weapon delivery.

Excellent points. Allow me reinforce them:

This is the treaty Nepleslia has with Yamatai.

Treaty Between the
Yamatai Star Empire
and the
Empire of Nepleslia

Whereas the Yamatai Star Empire wishes to recognize and create a state of peaceful and mutually prosperous relations with the Empire of Nepleslia, we mutually agree to enact and to follow the terms of this treaty:

1. The Empire of Nepleslia will now be official recognized as a self-ruling nation no longer under the Yamatai Star Empire. All citizens wishing to remain part of Yamatai will be recognized as citizens of the Yamatai Star Empire with the rights and freedoms thereof. All who wish to continue as Nepleslian citizens are free to go, based on their choice. Dual citizenship will not be permitted, however.

2. The Yamatai Star Empire and the Empire of Nepleslia agree to maintain friendly, reasonably honest, peaceful relations and communications with one another. The Yamatai Star Empire and Empire of Nepleslia agree to make at least one diplomatic communication with each other per month and in-person meetings of rulers or appointed representatives on a year basis.

3 . The Yamatai Star Empire and the Empire of Nepleslia agree not to commit malicious acts against one another or employ others to commit malicious acts against one another, to include making any alliance with the known enemy of the other.

4. Both the Yamatai Star Empire and Empire of Nepleslia will recognize all ranks and titles bestowed on a person by the Yamatai Star Empire, its member states, and/or the Empire of Nepleslia.

5. For the mutual safety, the Empire of Nepleslia agrees to enforce control of restricted technologies covered by Yamataian law, using them only it its military and organizations authorized the by the Nepleslian government.

6. Nekovalkyrja and will not be allowed on Nepleslian planets except to conduct official business for the Yamatai Government or Star Army of Yamatai. Nekovalkyrja are not to be allowed citizenship or to hold any government or military position in the Empire of Nepleslia or Star Army of Nepleslia. All Nekovalkyrja serving as government officials of Yamatai must first report to the government of Nepleslia for proper identification except for those serving as part of Star Army starship crews.

7. Starships of the Star Army of Yamatai will never be denied direct and unimpeded access to Nepleslian territories. Nepleslian civilian ships will be allowed to travel through Star Army space, but military ships will only be allowed in Yamatai space with permission from authorized members of the Star Army of Yamatai or the Yamatai government.

8. In the event the Nepleslian capital world is under attack by large-scale enemy forces, Yamatai will send fleets equal to or greater than 10% of its total vessels in reinforcements to protect it. Nepleslia agrees to do the same upon Yamataian request, should the YSE capital world fall under attack.

9. The Empire of Nepleslia agrees to have no more than 20 fleets of equal to or less than numbers of one thousand ships each for its military, with no military ships or mobile space stations larger than 25km.

10. Yamatai and Nepleslian agree that Nepleslian territorial expansion should go to the Galactic Northwest, and Yamataian expansion to the Galactic Southeast.

This treaty is valid immediately upon approval by all governments involved (or the leaders thereof) and lasts forever unless all parties agree to nullify it. All parties must approve any modifications to this treaty.

Signed:

Emperor Uesu of Yamatai

...to which Master Admiral Robert Davis and Emperor Blackman of Nepleslia have agreed to and have not asked for renegociations.

Restricted Technologies include, but are not limited to: Nekovalkyrja, HSCS, TDD, RDD, WARMS and like devices, Aether Weaponry, Transposition Cannons, Scalar Weapons, ST/SS Tech, Technology involved in the creation of Zesuaium, Interdictor Devices.

So... yes. You don't even have Nepleslia on your side with this Razeal. Not only might you invoke Yamatai's ire (and they will find out), but Nepleslia won't give you any backing and no corporate agency or well-to-do rich businessman using his brain would be in his right mind to oppose this and be in trouble from two fronts; your side and the other side.

Not to mention purposely building a fleet of warships competitive with the technology Yamatai has for the purpose of trumping/exceeding it goes against the second article of the treaty.

Of course, this might not concern you directly... but it is still important to take into account: there are harsh consequences that could come of your ship designing and implementation.

Well, the reason they're restricted is because they'd be really dangerous in the hands of pirates -- in the YSE/NSE's eyes, only military ships should have them.

Well I settled on quantum destabilization technology.

*Type III Heavy Quantum Pulse Cannon (2): This weapon harnesses the quantum destabilization technology developed by Carthage into a pulse cannon variant. Upon contact with a target, the charge's energy containment disintegrates and begins destabilizing anything in comes in contact with at the quantum level. This technology is simpler then Aether or hyperspace tap weaponry yet leaves little or no residual trace.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Anti-Warship
SECONDARY PURPOSE: Orbital Bombardment
RANGE: .0.5 AU
RATE OF FIRE: 5 shots per second.

How's that sound?
It's either that or dimensional rift cannons =D
Unless I can find something else.

"And leaves or no residual trace?" How terribly convenient.

Also, would that technology need to be approved separately?

Though technology has been approved seperately in the past I don't belive there has ever been a need to approve technology seperately before it can be put on a ship. Usually if there is new tech on a ship that is unapprovable the entire ship is left unapproved.

Well you said aether leaves a trace? what do you want me to use, BB guns? o_O

I'm just saying that this is a tech we've not used in the SARP before, and on top of that it's untraceable. Would you have thought of that if I hadn't brought it up?

Nope, probably not. Of course the Perry got approved with aether type tech, so...
I am so confused.
Would anti-matter weapons be better?

But quantum type weapons aren't, even thou as far as physics they are a step or more below aether/ zero-point energy?

I think what Jake's saying is that instead of reinventing the wheel, you should stick with what is already available.
