Concordia Veil - Cabin 3
The door slid open, shining the interior of the dark room with the light from the adjacent cabin. A hand clad in the Dusk suit started to pat the wall next to the door until the room's own light came on before stepping into the room fully, allowing Amelia to get into the room without tripping on anything. She pressed another button next to the wall, making the door slide closed, and then wearily made her way to the lower bunk-bed. With a groan, the astrogator sat on the bed, casting a glance at the sitting form of the not-spiderbot Crash. "Are you there?" She asked as she reached behind her neck to loosen the collar of the suit.
The non-spiderbot shifted, but only because of the motions of the past few hours and the motions of Amelia coming. It slide off to the side and laid there on it's side. Crash had been and still was hiding deep with in the computer. It was so frightened at the possibility of the Kittys finding It, that Crash even cut the sensor intakes to the area It was hiding. With every path cut off, Crash make sure that Amelia's data-jockey could get in with a message if needed.
Intrigued that there was no response, Amelia got off the bed after finally managing to loosen up the collar, walking closer to where the bot sat. She leaned in closer, inspecting the bot to see if it was another one of the practical jokes Crash liked to do, until she decided to pull out the Datajockey and send it a message.
Code:
>Are the Kats still here?
Code:
>No, we're back on Black Moon
There was a long break in communication, the the man-bot sat up and looked at the tired Amelia. "Are you sure? If they find me... You all might be in danger..." Crash slowly accessed the ship's sensors and started pulling in data, slowed only by the cheap bot's processor power.
"Don't worry, we're fine," Amelia replied, taking a few steps back until she was sitting on the bed again. Her shoulders slumped forward as she sighed, putting the Datajockey on the bed, "was that you or Oreza flying?" she asked after a while.
"When? I was the one who brought us to the wreck... but i only enhanced what I could from my hiding place, when Oreza was flying." The bot looked around the room for a moment before looking back at Amelia. "I'm sorry I left you.. but you guys seemed to have had things under-control."
"It's okay, we made it back," Amelia said, scratching her head and making her hair even more unruly, "It was kinda awesome, too, we were flying so close to the hull that I swear I could just reach down and touch it," she added.
"I had to turn off safeties so that it was possible. But the stick was totally in the old man's hand at that point. I was trying to limit what I was doing by the time the kats showed up." Crash paused for a few moments. "Seinna knows about me..."
"Yeah," the woman replied, not saying anything else for a moment. "I'm assuming she let you stay too. Sorry for putting you at risk when I asked you to look after the ship," she said.
"It is fine. I made a deal that she could use my ship, as long as I'm reimbursed." the bot shrugged. "Though I was ordered in here and told not to move..."
"I don't think she'll mind," Amelia said, remembering the state in which she had found the captain in. She wanted to tell more about the little exchange, but chose to keep what they had said to herself since Sienna wasn't really herself during it. "Sorry I couldn't find any of the parts for you," she said, dropping flat on her back against the bed and leaving only her legs out.
"It is fine, when you go to sleep I'll just pull your leg bones and use them to create new leg parts for my spiderbot. As for the rest I can find them on this moon if I have to." The bot couldn't smile but the tone of humor was there.
"Funny," Amelia said, taking a deep breath and sitting up again. Her hands still rubbed her legs reflexively, though, as she considered what to say next. "I was also planning on heading out there to look for a few things. We could tag along..." She added.
"I could... though would there be a net cafe I might be able to find some of my money... Then we can get what ever you like..."
"Thanks, but that wouldn't be fair," the astrogator replied. "I'm just going to look for another suit," she started to say, "this one's too uncomfortable and... Tight."
"Tight? where?" The sleaze bot of a bot let the sensors of the bot's eyes drift down Amelia's body. "I could help you with that... But it would be nice to have access to some of my millions... I could at least order a new body in general."
"I don't want a new body, I just need a new suit," Amelia said, feeling a tad uncomfortable from being scanned down by the bot, "if you have all those millions then why are you still sticking around in this ship anyway?" she asked. If she was a millionaire she'd retire or get a bigger, better ship of her own.
"I don't have access to it... Some is even working through different Yami banks..." The bot shook it's head for a moment. "I might be able to access some of the smaller accounts, maybe a few thousand..." Again the bot nodded. "But I wasn't meaning a new body." Crash flickered the right eye light a moment.
"That must suck. Being a millionaire but not quite," she said. There was a twisted poetry to that, but what bothered her the most was the suit, which started to become uncomfortable to her after a while, even though the physical discomfort was there, there was still the fact that the thing was just the next thing after being naked.
"Well maybe I'll live to see a day I can get it all back... Though I bet by then after interest and other methods I'll be a billionaire." the bot shifted and then spoke up, "I believe there is a set of coveralls in the locker behind me... They would be better then the chafing you must be dealing with in that suit."
"I have my own stuff," Amelia replied, thinking of her usual, and very worn, attire. Getting off the bed again with a groan, she walked towards her locker, removing all the attire she needed and throwing it over her should. Her head slowly turned towards where the not-spiderbot was, "Look the other way, please," she said.
"Oh Fiiine" The bot turned and faced the wall. Though if Amelia was trying to maintain her modesty she had forgotten all about the ship's internal sensors... "Will all those groans.. Have you spoken to the doctor unit since you have returned?"
"Just tired," Amelia said. Tired and hurt, if the pain from the burn and headache wasn't enough; she just made a mental note to take another painkiller that the doctor had given her. She started to remove the suit, but stopped midway, turning towards the bot, "If you're somehow watching this you're gonna wish Sienna kicked you out the airlock," the astrogator said flatly as she resumed the process of taking the suit off.
Crash never moved, though the main sensors for the room shut off. At least the main ones did, the IR and UV stayed. Not that Crash was recording it.
"Alright, you can turn now," Amelia said after a while. She was back in the usual attire, the gray jacket, which was unzipped, revealed the black sweater underneath, and the baggy green cargo pants weren't tucked into her boots because she wasn't wearing any. She got on her hunches, picking up the boots before moving towards the bed, "how are we gonna smuggle you out, though?" She asked. They couldn't simply walk out of there like it was just usual business.
"You bought a cheap but usable bodyguard bot... Remember... The one I'm in now.. The only reason it isn't the same is the simple fact I reformatted the drive..." Crash spoke calmly before turning around. "You know you got to think these things better.. hell if you keep it up being slow like this, I'd think you were S.A.I.N.T." It chuckled as it sat there looking at her.
"You mean like the spies?" Amelia asked, suddenly piped up at the topic. Spy and police novels were among her favorites.
"Yes.. the bumbling idiots the Kats use to be spooky and crap." Crash regestured the fact that Amelia was paying more attention. "I wouldn't take being compared to them as a complement. They are the ones leading the charge to destroy my people. They are the one who will be causing the worst in the verse... Hell I wouldn't trust one with in 3000 parsecs of me..."
"Right," Amelia said as she tucked the pants under the boots. She didn't have much love for them either, especially after what had happened on the derelict. Standing up, the astrogator moved to the locker once again, grabbing the heavy armor vest that she possessed; she threw it over her head, feeling the new weight pull her down by the straps on her shoulders, before strapping the sides in place, "I think we're good to go," she said.
"Are we now?" Crash looked down at the bot's empty hands. "I would be a crappy guard without some kind of weapon... You have a plasma carbine? Or an Aether Gatling?"
"I don't even think what you'd do with that much artillery," Amelia said, "besides, I thought you weren't a guard, at least when no one else was looking."
"Yeah but I got to look the part. And those weapons are cool." It raised up to it's feet with out using it's hands. "I guess if you just have a basic weapon for now." Crash walked over to the table where the spiderbot was laid out, collecting it, Crash slipped it into it's chest cavity.
"Well, you're gonna have to settle for... This," Amelia said after watching the bot store its spider-counterpart into itself. She upholstered her sidearm, pulling the slide back to see if it was loaded, and then flipping the safety on once she confirmed that it was; extending her arm, she offered it to Crash along with its holster and the few spare magazines she had.
With a nod Crash took the weapon and spare mags. With a bit of work It had the holster attached to it's thigh and was ready. "If you like to lead, i have never been here before, and until I download the local map, I'll be lost."
"Well, me neither, but you learn something every day, right?" She replied, patting the baton that she had earned during the heist attempt on the ship to confirm that it was still there before moving towards the door. "Let's get going then," she said, pressing the button and opening the door to the other cabin.
