Edit: Could this be moved to the Setting Discussion forum, please? I realized about five seconds after posting that I’d posted this in the wrong place. >.<

You know an easy solution would just be to do more RP with origin as opposed to trying to keep control while not doing any RP at all. That way you have a valid reason to keep control of it.

Three paragraphs slandering me under the idea I want your faction.
Oh, well, you got m- oh wait, what's that I posted above?
I don't want your faction. I want it to be in Wes' hands because I know he'll be open to anyone with good ideas.
Right.

I don't want Origin. You already killed the faction in my eyes. This is why I made Ken-TEC and why I'm trying to work with people like Syaoran and the countless other new corporations.

You've done nothing to promote the idea Origin is worthwhile. You preach that Immortal is the only one who did anything, but like... isn't Immortal the only person you actually heard out? Everyone else you beat off or tell them no just at the idea stages. You're not approachable otherwise I'm sure there'd have been far more than just Immortal reaching out to you.

Frost doesn't want Origin (and for sure wouldn't get it as long as I could speak up) and I sure as hell don't want to have to manage the largest corporation on the site. This is why I support the thread's intent to make Wes the manager and put both you and Kai as advisers. If you or Kai become active and actually support it as a faction, then I see no reason you can't have total control over it. Otherwise I think Wes needs the "decision power" and you need to take a step back.

While I trust and get along with Kai, he's too busy to do anything with Origin it seems. But I will credit him because he does have plans. If Kai were the one wanting to step in and was the one to take the mantle, I'd have far less problems with the idea of exempting Origin from this merger/categorization/sorting/license ruleset. But I know forcing him to be active is dumb when he has his own life going on (see the part where he has stated he has plans when you've not done a thing or hinted it even slightly). I don't have the time and I know others don't to run it. But as a set-piece, what's the problem with letting Wes decide what gets added to it or when new art gets introduced? Or new variants?

@Soresu and Zen are in a similar boat to what Origin would go through. His relationship with Nepleslia is one where I default to him a lot of the times. There'd be very few instances I could imagine I would be NEEDED to speak over him, but that's because he's cordial and works with others to make content. I've seen nothing but open arms from Zen in stark contrast to the closed borders you've been pushing basically since I joined SARP.

Why are you so defensive when no one but Wes would have power over the corporation and you still have just as much power to speak against people as an advisor/creator of Origin? Stop choking the life out of the faction and tarnishing EVERYONE who ever worked on Origin's work.

The way you're acting is honestly extremely disrespectful to people like Syaoran and even Kai, in particular because you're threatening to pull their work and speak for them as if you own the rights to everything within Origin. And honestly, it's very petty and short-sighted when in reality you're already being offered a peace branch and a compromise when you genuinely don't deserve one with threats of legal action.

@CadetNewb Both Frost and Legix have made attempts to make Origin active again. THey wanted to do it their way because you are inactive. You and Kai have said no to it, and they moved on. Get over yourself, Origin is not some shiny gold trophy that people covet. No one is looking to take over your company. What we want is sensible corporation rules. And you are hindering that by obsessing over absurdities and paranoia.

If you want to retain control, over Origin industries then -be here-. If you wont be here to maintain and control it, as a set peice it has to be maintained so someone has to do it. If all you're interested in is the credit though for having gotten it to where it is, no one is going to take that from you. But privilege comes with responsibility. -Someone- will have to control and maintain Origin. No one gives a f**k who it is, but if you want it to be you you need to be here to do it. You can't have 'control' and then not be here.

A good example of why things like AwesomeCorp worked. It wasn’t a player group and wasn’t ever meant to be anything more than a joke about handgun vending machines in a Nepleslian market.

Assigning these NPC groups a CM/FM/etc just kills those groups as usable parts of the setting.

No one is 'assigning' an FM or CM or anything to NPC factions. If you're talking about 'all corporations being under nations' then that is about laws and such. That does not mean that the corporation is controlled by the FM. It simply means in RP that is the legal jurisdiction they fall under. If you're talking about the list Frost made that list the owners of corporations then that is just OOCly who created/has creative control over the entity, and the person you should talk to to see if your plans involving the company are okay. If said individual wants it to be something anyone can do anything with then that will stay.

At this point you're just making up problems @Zack so @Wes or @Ametheliana or any other mod, can you just mute him if he continues to run in circles making up problems to just slow this all down?

How about let's not list me for any corporations I don't actively control.

Also I'd appreciate it if people didn't immediately jump to extreme conclusions or actions while I'm asleep or at work. Give me adequate time to respond to stuff.

You could list me, currently within Yamatai the only corporation I run is Nayacesen Industrials, I could have Origin brought under them, no name changes, nothing like that - just them being made part of N.I.

Something I think might work is that they are listed as "Setting" as they are not currently actively managed by any player. In essence, they are a setting element that people can play with and submit things for. They are at best, passively managed by the NTSE. And they might be adopted by a player who is interested in them.

As a guy who runs one of the most expansive/active corporations in the form of IIS, I think licensing is a great idea. You could even get neat trade leagues and such forming as people with the same licence naturally work closer together, revitalising the landscape of corporations into something more collective and intricate. The optional RP for getting licences can be an easy way to get some meaningful RP out in a lull between big corporate actions. To be honest, I've been doing this sort of thing for a while IC, discussing trade agreements with factions etc, it's been very fun.

It could benefit companies just starting out by having people predisposed to RP with them just by the fact of it being obvious for people in the same jurisdiction to interact and help each other out, much like IRL customs unions. Company-company interaction is very rewarding as I'm sure Club, Skully and Jack can testify to and making those links easier to forge could be very lucrative for producing RP. Putting up groups in that sort of sense just helps grow cooperative spirit more than anything negative at all, similarities breed cooperation after all.

Alrighty-o. Given that the most of the replies are in favor of the licensing system, how should I go about implementing it in this submission?

(Not trying to be rude - just asking for everyone’s input, as this is a community-wide article. >.<)

Edit: I’ve updated the submission to list Origin’s manager as “TBD.”

Don't make it part of this submission. Make it a separate entry. If it needs combination, that can be figured out later.

I saw some edits about @Yoerik's involvement in Intergalactic Transport Corporation. What's going on there?

What about Taichimora Entertainment Technologies? They are the company behind VCE.

What about Doki Doki YSA?

What about Sunflower Corp?

What about Schnee Katze?

Shouldn't @Khasidel be in control of Murasaki Keiretsu?

What about Treasure Trove Frozen Treats?

What about Kaidan Telecommunications?

What about Algol's Incredibly Legitimate Import Emporium? (I am the manager)

[EDIT] expect edits to this post as I find more
[EDIT 2] I need slep. Will make a new post tomorrow with more

@FrostJaeger I agree with Legix. Handle the liscensing or whatever seperate, that's going to need a big discussion of its own to work out the kinks and get approval. For this, just focus on getting up the list, acurately. Then you can do seperate submissions for CM rules/rights and for licensing. There is no reason to hold up something as simple as a list by bogging it down with other stuff.

I think the star system limits should be in this article and not just a link in a footnote.
