{Discussion} Nepleslian Airbike Circuit.

Kai

Retired Staff
I've been doing a lot of thinking on the sadly misused, abused, and Neglected Nepleslian Airbike Circuit. So for now I'd like to discuss rules, regulations, classes, circuits, race types, teams, and all that jazz.

So, I've created this thread as an initial area to jot down my thoughts and notes, as well as to allow other interested parties to weigh in on the subject, and also to eventually get a new Wiki page created. Eventually, this may become a plot, or at the very least an opportunity for roleplay.

1. Teams:
- Origin Industries
- NAM
- SMoDIoN?
- Greater Nepleslian Penitentiary System (GNPS)
- Funky City PD
- Zen Arms
- Anonymous (Mishhu)
- Independent teams?

2. Bike Classes:
A) Propeller (Not used for RP)
- Electric
- Gas
B) Jet/Super (Used for RP)
- Pro Stock
- Pro Modified
- Super Modified
- Ultra Modified

3. Race Types
- Endurance (Laps, first across the finish wins)
- Technical (More difficult, slower, Win by 'points' for passing obstacles and doing tricks)
- Technical Endurance (Combination- In rare occasions people can win by points without finishing in the top three)

4. Tracks?
- Funky City
- Countryside
- Actual racecourse
- Kennewes? (Mishhu still there?)
- Yamatai?

5. RULES
- Specific rules for each class
- Sensors to make sure rules are followed
- Hitting other bikes Okay?
- No Weapons
- Yamataians, Nepleslians, Id-Sol, Neko? Allowed. Other species?
- Safety Regulations (Helmet, Biking gear, etc)
- Rules of conduct (Sportsmanship)

6. THE BIKES THEMSELVES:
- Max stats?
- Bike creation system?
- More? (there's only the Origin bike so far)
- No Aether
- Antigravity? (Seems unfair)

7. The Riders
- Rider rank system?
- Less Skills (NPC Status)
- PC's can compete?
- Special skill types just for racing?
- Specific character sheet (Probably easiest way to make it fair)

This is all I can think of for now. There's some more details floating around my head, but It's late and I don't think this post is quite the place for them yet.

THIS IS A DISCUSSION THREAD. NOTHING IS UP FOR APPROVAL HERE.
Moved to Roleplay and Setting Discussion.

Anyway. I've been doing a lot of thinking on the sadly misused, abused, and Neglected Nepleslian Airbike Circuit. So for now I'd like to discuss rules, regulations, classes, circuits, race types, teams, and all that jazz.
That's fine for fleshing out the airbike circuit, but I'm not sure it'll create RP. Actual RP seems like the best way to flesh out setting elements to me.

Eventually, this may become a plot, or at the very least an opportunity for roleplay.
Are you offering to be a GM?

- Anonymous (Mishhu)
What.

The problem is that the circuit technically already exists, and, by the very nature of racing, we need a set of rules. I'm trying to create a sort of system to keep things fair and make it easy to compare different bikes in a way that levels the playing field a bit, to stop people from having huge e-peen contests.

And Yeah, I'm offering to possibly GM this in the future once it gets to a state where it can be used.

With the Mishhu team, it's going to be an independent team backed by an anonymous sponsor who is actually the mishhu. The Team is made up of clones so that they blend in better. It's the basis of a possible plot point I was pondering.

For the Airbikes, I've been thinking of a points system for the airbikes in order to keep it fair.

Each bike has Six stats, those being Top speed, Acceleration, Maneuverability/agility, Stability, Toughness, and Fuel/range.

Each stat has up to ten points.

Pro Stock bikes have 24 points to distribute (As it's stock, these are the same for everyone using the bike)

Pro Modified has 36 points to distribute, in the form of Stock + 12.

Super Modified has 36 points as well, but can redistribute stock stats.

Ultra modified has 48 points to distribute

And Unlimited has 52 points to distribute.

Working on the Revamped article.

New Article is HERE: https://wiki.stararmy.com/doku.php?id=airbikes:nepleslian_airbike_racing_circuit

Old article is HERE: https://wiki.stararmy.com/doku.php?id=nepleslian_airbike_circuit

Yes, I used some of the stuff from the old page, But Doshii said I was free to it.

I removed the starbike division because I didn't think it was particularly necessary.

After I finish the safety section I will detail the NARC points/rating system for Turbine bikes.

And Revamp Origin's Airbike to reflect the new airbike system, heh.

Sweet. You have any comments or concerns about what I've been writing up?

I'm partway through making an example submission that shows how the points system works for actual bikes.

THE NOVA

No art yet (Still working on it, can't decide if I want to model all the variations or just make one set of art) but the meat of the article is there. I hope it makes sense.

Kai, a few others, and myself had a brief discussion about introducing new vehicle brands into the competition, Kai bitterly complaining that the most expensive vehicle on the circuit was only about 12,000 or so.

This came about after a brief discussion about Ducati (basically the Lambogini of motorcycles), and about the worlds fastest Indian. Indian became Crow, became Raven, and we were left with...

RAVEN MOTORS

This page is currently on google docs until I figure it out some more, and actually narrow down the bike designs, so it's very Work In Progress. Kai, be sure to contact me if you want anything changed or added. I'll transfer it to the wiki later.

I think it'd be a good move (as I highlighted in the sports discussion) to maybe hand racing off to Yamatai? Or, perhaps, a discussion with @Wes between @Gunhand4171 could prove fruitful to a combined Sector Prix, with the establishment of a Yamataian circuit as well as a revamp to a Nepleslian one?

It could be useful to fluffing both groups out and fitting the relations growth between the two in recent times.

I think a Yamataian circuit is great, but handing it off is pretty strong wording.

I am making a circuit on 188604 with Havok Customs sponsored by Akemi's.

We will have race season start in the Spring and end July. We will be looking for racers. I see this getting as far as one SP thread and some cool winnings for PCs!!
