Hey, my name's Dan and I've roleplayed over games like World of Warcraft and websites like Tumblr for overall 4 years now. However, those 4 years have mostly, if not completely, fantasy RP. I've always been a fan of Sci-Fi aswell though, with an interest in Star Wars, Star Trek, Mass Effect and Halo, so I wanted to join a Sci-Fi RP.

I'm not 100% familiar with roleplaying on forums, but I'm usually a fast learner and am going to hopefully pick it up quickly, as I can't wait to roleplay with you guys!

Hello Dan,
Welceome to Star Army Role Play or as we call it around here SARP. I am Nashoba, one of the Site Admins. Anything we can do to help you get started, that's what we are here for.

There are two forms of Roleplay on SARP. If you just want to dive into a story without having to create a character, then check out the Open Roleplay forums.

If you prefer a more structured roleplay then you will probably want to join one of our many plots. New players guide is a good place to start, if you have questions you can either post them here or jump into the SARP IRC and there are folk who can answer most general questions.

Look forward to seeing you around the site.

Hi Dan! I'm Wes and I'm glad to meet you. I started Star Army back in the day and I'm glad to see it keeps on getting new players.

You sound like you've got good taste in sci-fi (I love all those franchises, too!).

Roleplaying on a forum is, in my experience, a matter of creating or finding a story you like with characters you enjoy controlling. It takes some patience and dedication at times, and it can be very rewarding because unlike games, you're not on "rails" going to a pre-set destination. Anything can happen. Plus it's nice to point to things in the RP universe and say "My character did that" or "I made that." Star Army is an RP where almost all of our writing becomes part of the site's canon, so what you do can affect future Star Army RP. If you leave something on a planet in one SARP thread, and another thread visits that location, mabye in an unrelated thread years form now, your item will probably be found. To keep track of the Star Army universe, we use a wiki.

I imagine RP on a forum is not too different than Tumblr RP.

So welcome to Star Army and ask me anything you want, because I want to help you enjoy yourself and feel included.
