Approved Submission Elysian CCG...

This suggestion has been implemented. Votes are no longer accepted.
Hmm...

I would say only Patricians should require Faction Manager approval, rather than all Elysians. Patricians are a very specific caste/subspecies of Elysians, after all.

But explicit FM-required approval for every Elysian is a bit much.

FM approval is not required for Elysian SAoY or independent characters. The responsibility of the FM is to approve "factional characters". In this situation, that would include Elysians who are affiliated with the Elysian Celestial Empire in one way or another. Independent or SAoY Elysians do not require FM approval, regardless of the subspecies, because the FM manages the faction, not the species.

I agree with the Patrician sentiment. They’re key members of Elysian society and by all rights should be made properly with multiple FM checks.

I’m gonna violate Rule 4 for a bit here, sorry. But the same idea applies for making an Eihei or a Ketsurui clan member. You can try but...it’ll be hard as all three groups in question are key members of society.

Heck, I’m finding it hard to justify my own Patrician’s deviation in thought. And, honestly, every faction has that one group that is so unique it’s almost impossible for them to be disloyal and require so much nuance to their personality that it’s a good idea you get help from the FM.

Besides, I’ve been included in the approval process a few times and honestly it’s more of a “Let’s see if we can make this work” rather than a “no, not allowed.”

Why does the guide say Elysian characters must be discussed with you? I do not think that is a proper or enforceable rule.

It's because back in the day @Aendri had something similar - and because it resulted in Machariel Valeria being vastly more fleshed out then the other characters I had at the time.

With that being said, however, you and @Arbitrated are right - it is "a bit much" - thus I've changed it to read "Patrician characters must be discussed with FrostJaeger prior to submission/approval."

This is because of the fact all Patricians - regardless of affiliation - are the foundation of Elysia's image in the setting due to the critical role they play in Elysian society, similar to how the Ketsurui Samurai (and, for that matter, the Ketsurui Clan itself) play a critical role in the Yamatai Star Empire.

Put simply, the portrayal of Patricians effectively define what Elysia "is" in Star Army - thereby making their accurate portrayal extremely important in maintaining canon and image.

Why are we letting Frost misinterpret the rules (that he swears by) for his own benefit? As the FM of Elysian, he controls the image of the Elysian Celestial Empire and nothing more. He does not get to say that a minor/negligible aspect of that (such as a single character) is under his jurisdiction as well.

He seems so willing to utilize the rules to screw other people (read: people he doesn't like) over, so why is his faction not subject to strict scrutiny as well?

Err, because he hasn’t actually screwed anyone with the rules? Only giving suggestions to make things, as he perceives, less overpowered?

I mean take your opinion of him how you may.

An unreasonable amount of my time has to be spent correcting Frost. I have players who avoid the NTSE because of him. Just his presence has other players not wanting to use Elysians.

Frost only hasn't screwed people over with the rules, because he is usually wrong about the rules. He certainly puts a lot of effort into stopping other people from RPing.

I would like to know what the rules mean to you, then; if we are to end this long-term discourse, we must know what the origin of the conflict is. So I am asking you nicely, Mr. Zack, please explain to me what the rules mean to you-without saying what Frost is doing "wrong".

And in fact, I would like for FrostJaeger to also explain to me what the rules mean in his mind. Again, without in any way directing your interpretation against other persons that are involved.

I implore you both, please answer as truthfully as you can; this conflict is something I believe has continued for far too long, and it will take a great amount of effort to resolve it. There is no easy solution here.

Frost is trying to apply rules wrongly, trying to assert that things need special approval when they don't, trying to declare RP non cannon, telling newer players they can't use Elysian bodies when they can.

You can take a look at NTSE threads for more examples, but the gist of it is most of what Frost posts has to be met with 'that's not what the rules say'.

Zack, I asked simply for your interpretation of the rules; I did not ask for a list of what frost has done.
