RP: UOC Government [Emergency Assembly Call] The NMX presence in the outer rim

*Senator Mamami looked across the floor to see if the others heeded. With or without them, she began to talk about the recent events, since the data would be forwarded to them anyway.*

"Fellow members of the Senate, the Commonwealth is under attack." She stated simply. "We do not know the reason behind the hostility, but sensor readouts have identified the interlopers as Mishhuvurthyar and corrupted Yamataian ships."

"This is a general call to assembly due to the fact we have now been drawn into another senseless war that has befallen Yamatai."

Due to the Prime Minister's health that morning, she was forced to tune in and participate in the Assembly Meeting by volumeric projection. 'This is indeed a horrible reminder that Melisson keeps her promises. She did say that she would return and now it seems, that we will all have to pay the price unless we can better arm ourselves and defend against their numbers. I am rather pessimistic about how we would do in an all out war with the SMX considering our forces are designed for self-defense.

Our options seem rather bleak, we might have to seek conference with... Melisson again or seek an alliance with our neighboring nations to add more bodies and ships to participate in a war we don't want to be a part of," Ayana stated rather blandly, the memories of her last encounter with Melisson still gave her nightmares but she knew that Melisson could possibly be reasoned with.

"Tactically speaking, the most logical point of view would be to try and achieve some form of non-aggression treaty with the Mishhuvurthyar forces." Mamami said, lending some support for talks with Melisson again.

"However, if we try to seek non-aggression, Yamatai would see it as us consorting with the enemy and they would most likely attack us out of their typical blind paranoia." Mamami sighed and rubbed her chin.

"It is scary to say this, but we have no options but to pick a side. Either we side with Yamatai and be considered an enemy of the swarm. Or we side with the best interest of the Commonwealth and have Yamatai declare us 'traitors' again."

"Our options are rather grave then if no matter what we chose, we have to consort with our deaths. I'm not sure if I prefer to be killed by Yamatai with her intentions towards us so uncertain or to be eaten by the SMX," Ayana commented rather gravely. "Perhaps, there is a way we can arrange non-aggression agreements with both?"

"I'm not..ah." Ayumi paused, and looked troubled for a few moments before opening her mouth again. "I don't think I like the sound of that. What's to stop either of them from turning on us when there is a victor? I doubt anything. The fact is the Mishhu have already violated our territory without a word to us. They probably think our government is very little to worry over. We'll live, as long as we're useful not being an enemy to them right? I don't like the thought of that."

Shaking her head a few times, Ayumi felt a bit of nausea sweep over her at the mention of Melisson's name. She was privy to the briefing about the first IRC, after all. "Her job seems to be more a dictation of terms, rather than negotiation, and threats came when those unreasonable demands were not met. If we were to submit to them, would we not challenge our place as a nation of peacekeepers? That will tell anyone that if you can push us hard enough, we'll do as you say. The implications of such negotiations would be..troubling. If they can be contacted to send a representative, I believe this is fine, but I have very little belief that they would send someone in good faith as we might."

"If they had wanted to speak, wouldn't they have sent a representative to the IRC? No, they tried to kill us somehow, as I recall. Indiscriminately. I must agree with Mamami-san. Picking a side is more prudent, and there's at least a better chance that Yamatai wouldn't want to inherit a nation of insurgency by annexing us if we beat the NMX back, than the NMX would of wanting to convert our worlds into giant pustules that spit out battle-pods. I'm not sure it is our best interest to side with the swarm, if we're damned both ways." Earnestly, for a change, Ayumi stopped talking, and looked to the others for input.

"If I remember it clearly, the last time the SMX sent a representative to the IRC, they tried to arrest her for her crimes against and kill her. Not that they were able to do such. Our sisters in Yamatai dislike it when certain parties try to attend the IRC as we saw with the detainment of the Lorath representative as well as, the absence of Freespacers on the ground that their representatives weren't quote, 'invited' and they were not biological beings.

It is also entirely possible that our abused lost sisters within the SMX feel that all of us are beyond reproach and beyond any notion of diplomacy, so they want to take their pound of flesh and feel vindicated that they have overthrown their oppressive parents and... their siblings that stood by and watched but did nothing to stop the abuse.

We must try to remember that both good and bad have been spawned by Yamatai, our own nation, our current advancements in technology, many of us were nekos before the shift but on the other hand, we have the plague, the massacre on Halna and the SMX.

I do not think they are beyond reproach, we just must go forth and make the effort to contact them. I would be willing to go out to Melisson again to make that happen. I think she might permit me some time to talk again," Ayana commented despite her misgivings about going to Melisson again. Especially since she knew it'd put her still unborn child in danger but... it was for that prospect of a future she wished to try to fight for but she knew she'd have to be willing to bloody her hands to keep the peace she dreamed of.

"If they were just lost little puppies that needed a hug, as you suggest Prime Minister, they would not be grabbing up Nepleslian territories without diplomatic talks. What reason do they have not to contact them? None. You give them far too much credit. We can negotiate with Yamatai, if you pander to Melisson, who carried the attitude of a superior, haughty child and more or less talked her way into them trying to detain her with threats and ultimatums, we will be in a worse place than we are now." Ayumi fired back. She didn't think highly of Yamatai, but she didn't believe pretending the Mishuu were so benign and only laid waste to billions of lives was some childish game. "I don't believe they were wrong in excluding the Lorath They are a protectorate state, not a voting body of the UOC and as such not qualified to represent us, their chosen government. Picking and choosing when to suddenly play soveriegn does not sit well. However, I do agree that is probably not the reason they prevented her from attending. It is why I said nothing about it."

"Have you forgotten Taiie so easily? Yamatai may not have sent help, but they also did not make the system a nebula. Those scattered people who died at Halna don't even compare to the utter massacre and torture the SMX set upon us. I was there. I fought in the first war. Please don't suggest to us that you would go negotiating with someone who thinks she is a goddess of our sector, based on those factors? If again, our misgivings are ignored, I would like to raise a vote to require someone more hard-nosed to go along on this expedition. I'm in no hurry to throw my arms around anyone, but we have few options and I do not consider this one of them, very respectfully Madame." Ayumi felt annoyed, no, more than annoyed that the SMX could be given another opportunity to make demands while they had them over a barrel, and treat them like the petulant children of the universe." Sighing, the woman spread her hands slowly, "I would not contact them but as a backup plan, and not deal with someone who had such personality flaws as the creature Melisson. If we are given no vote on such an important matter. I believe if we could all form a united front across all nations, it would be the real defense. Pitted against one another, kept from helping one another, they are free to sow billions, trillions of deaths throughout known space. Together, there is probably a chance. Who better to facilitate this than us? Wasn't this the point? Secure peace and unity- if we could show we are ready to defend each other together, maybe that would open negotiations? Both roads are very, very difficult but we cannot stop walking, I do agree Madame Prime Minister."

"Whatever we do, we need to act quickly. The opinion polls in the colonies have asked us to move into the war to defend our home. I have not forgotten Taiie nor do I feel that anything will truly happen if I talk to Melisson again but at least I would have tried. We need to start to talk to our neighbors first. We have things that they'll need and we'll definitely need their help to survive if the NMX fully turn their sights upon us. We'll most likely be cut off from everyone by blockades and possibly lose territories on the outer rim if we band together but the loses will be so much worse," Ayana replied calmly as she was handed declassified intelligence reports by her aide.

"Now is the time for some action, I think we agree on talking to the YSE and DIN to let them know we want to help?"
