Ok guys, this idea has been bouncing around in my head for a while. At the moment it is just an idea, nothing more but I would like some feedback on how useful it would be to the site!

It would be a multipurpose weapon that would turn on and off, It could be attached to a rifle to be used as a bayonet, or used as a sword in close combat situations, which would be very useful to the Seelie as they are still in the bronze age and would be a useful weapon to switch to when discovered by the star army.

It could also be used as an energy shield, it would use a small gravatational pull to form a circular shield rather than a blade that could be used to absorb shots.
 
Wow, that idea is almost like one I thoght about a small time ago as alternate weaponry for the Mindy armor.

Okay, consider this : the Mindy armor's CFS drive cannot shield it from weapons fire as a ship's CDD system can. The power armor CFS can't manage shielding that would be sufficiently powerful to shield the power armor. Actually, the smallest unit with shield capacity is the SOSD with the point-blank shield feature... and Ship Orbital Support Drones are 20 meters long, 5 meters wide and 4 meters tall.

So, what would be the feasibility of making an energy blade that would be able to serve as shielding at the same time? Um... not very good.
 
The the shield would absorb the energy of the shot, It would just be a quick means of protecting your self against enemy fire.
 
Um, you haven't really been reading my last post, have you?

I'm telling you that the current tech level makes it impossible to have an hand-held unit that would be able to form a barrier-type shield - eithe rto block, deflect or absorb incoming fire. The shield systems are much much bigger than that on all (to my knowledge) existing hardware capable of being so shielded.

That's why the Mindy armors are protected with Zesuaium. Otherwise, why bother with armor when you can have a forcefield to protect yourself?

Maybe it could just be used as an energy blade slash bayonet.
 
you could make an energy cutter (not a real blade, at least not easily and without a lot of power) or some sort of small shield. The tech level is certainly at that point but don't expect them to be to effective.
 
Would it be more feasable to create a solid shield and run a charge through it to create a much tougher version? In the end doing it that way - while not as cool admittedly - might aford you better protection because less energy is going into sustaining the structure of the shield so there is more to power its integrity.
 
That really depends on size, shape, use, ect. Feasability can't really be determined until the device is designed but right now it certainly is possible to build the device.
 
An energy-based bayonet should work. In fact, it might not be such a bad idea to make a scaled-down version of the Mindy's aether beam sword. That beam sword is very environment unfriendly, making it's use seldom when a power armor fights on it's mothership.

NIWS quickly snapped the cable with a shot from Gatling gun she had just formed. The super-android then followed the headless power armor back into the main passageway. The armor dove for the bottom of the ship.

NIWS fired, riddling the Mindy armor with hundreds of burning holes, over and over again. The hull of the bottom of the ship took hit after hit form the inside.

And then, then hull burst, decompressing the main passageway.

Yeah maybe, I will think about it. The main reason I wanted it was for the Seelie when they joined up with the Valiant as they still use swords.
 
You could make a blade so to speak. You could just need to contain the energy used in a shape. a powerful feild of some kind? I know the Lightsaber is magnetized to eep the molecule thick blade going in a constant lop. The blade only loses energy when it cuts, otherwise it's a closed circuit that constantly feeds itself power. Never dying flashlight
 
I wish Yamatai had lightsabers, honestly. Or some faction. Maybe the Kudhacari will.
 
Well, the Lorath have plasma blades which are essentially lightsabers (but you can't use a "lightsaber" here since it's a trademark of Disney).

Yamatai has aether saber-rifles!
