The Pride Wing were now prepared, the mission set in front of them could very well mean the survival of the entire ship. If they succeeded, the morale boost and tactical advantage might just mean putting the edge in favor of the Senbu over their daunting opponents. If they failed, it meant that an Anri vessel would be added to the enemy’s numbers thus making them an even more incredible opponent for the Empire. Quietly many with faith took this moment to pray, some left messages for loved ones at home saying that that may never return... the air was thick and the tensions so high that if you stopped to think of the situation outside for a moment you couldn't help but feel the helplessness. But luckily for the Senbu, they didn't have the convenience to stop... after all, this was the ship that never slept.

Mizu paced herself as she exited the turbo lift on deck 24, heading to the bay where Morality was stored. Coming within sight of the Mindy, she gave a slight sigh and pressed on until she came close enough to physically touch the suit. Running her hand down the armor’s exterior, Mizu drew in a deep breathe before letting it out. Taking off her clothes, Mizu placed the uniform in the locker beside the Mindy, turning back to the suit and opening the hatch. Climbing inside, she sealed the suit as she waited for the suited to take functionality to her being inside and then closed her eyes. She had missed so much; time with the other Pride Wing members, time with the new recruits. She’d also spent several hours of her personal time alone. As her eyes opened, she felt a slight tug inside. Determination? No, this was something else, something that drove her to feel more confident, but not so much that her own judgment would be clouded. As Morality powered up, different screens on the HUD turned on as well, Mizu’s eyes wandering from either side of the cornea to find her position to be sure that visual was operational. As diagnostics came in all green, Mizu opened a channel to the other Pride Wing members, "Kuri-chan. Maya-san. I'm here, what's the situation outside, I wasn't able to get a sit-rep on the matter other than we're to suit up and prepare for battle." Mizu didn't bother with an equipment change as there was no time for it, and she was beginning to get used to the pack she was using from the last skirmish.

Masako would get lost in what she was supposed to do and simply went along with what was going on and hurried for the Pride Wing armor bay to suit up in a customized layout for her custom Mindy. Luckily, Shizuka had seen to it that she'd get a modified one to accommodate her...size. Masako's armor came with two leg capacitors on the lower leg areas, the countermeasure pods in the upper thighs, a teleport unit in a shoulder, a gauss cannon in the other with an energy cloak projector. She was carrying two aether saber rifles for her handheld weapons. "Sakiyurai reporting in, Kuriko-heisho. Sorry for being late," she said over the comm to her.

Hiroko guided P'u forwards towards the abyss, scanning out deep into the wreckage field. She looked around, all around, flexing slightly as she evaluated her team and held her rifle. She needed to be aware of what was going on. And better than in the simulation... "It's surprisingly quiet for an 'Epic Battle'."

A mature woman's voice came over the speaker system in the rear of the 5th shuttle in the Pride Wing 02 team – the craft that the Shosa and the four Daisy pilots were in. It was, of course, the ever-lovely Jôtô Hei Stararcher. "Alright gentlemen and ladies, we're gonna be flying through some rough patches, so I strongly recommend ya keep your stuff firmly attached to your tin cans and hold on tight until we arrive at our destination. I'd also like to thank ya kindly for flying Air Senbu and ask that you please take any explosives with you on your exit." Then she went silent as the five shuttles lifted up off the floor and began launching sequences.

Kuriko-heisho, your orders are to board the first four shuttles, there's only room for two and that's in the helm. They're currently unmanned, so you'll be situated in the pilot and co-pilot seats. Please hurry, the plan is to act before the Pirates set up anti-FTL. We'll use these few moments to get as close as possible," Navi said as she relayed a part of the Shosa's plan. They were lucky for now; because of the Senbu’s pause in its spot, the pirates didn't jump to disable FTL in the area.

"Understood," Kuriko replied to the speaker. "It's all right, we're just getting started. All units, we're to board the first 4 shuttles. 2 to a shuttle, we'll be sitting in the pilot and co-pilot positions. We need to hurry before the enemy sets up an anti-FTL field. Let's do this," Kuriko said over the comm, excited and scared simultaneously. This is what she was, an infantryman – a power armor pilot. Kuriko headed toward the first shuttle and opened the hatch before sliding into the pilot’s chair. It felt awkward for the Neko, sitting in a Mindy with a gauss cannon strapped to her back while riding in the pilot's seat.

Hoshitomo was tense and ready to go, heartened to see the battle joined by more of her friends. When she heard the chatter over the comms, she interjected quickly on the Pride Wing's channel. "Heisho... be advised I am proficient in the piloting of a shuttle should the autopilot fail to follow Stararcher-hei's course for any reason."

Hara frowned, thinking about his short service in the army. "Right… everything else was a walk in the park compared to this… Still, I trust the Shosa would not send us all off to die. She must have some master plan in mind."

Shin nodded to Hara, saying nothing.

Masako would shift her weight around anxiously to try and calm herself down. This wasn't much different from ground battles overall, just bigger in scale and 360 dimensions to use. She could do this, Masako had done this before; she could do it again right? "I'm nervous..." Masako thought aloud to nobody in particular and didn't care who heard her. Thinking she could get the other wings to get more done, she radioed the Vermillion Wing members from before and told them that if they whooped enough ass out there and pulled off a victory she'd personally... reward them. She was giving undertones of a sexual nature to it as well, knowing it'd spark a fire under their asses.

Rin picked up the stray thought and responded with a quick note of her own as she maneuvered toward one of the empty shuttles. "Sakiyurai-hei, it's good to be nervous. That's your anticipation of the battle. Let's board this shuttle together and make sure the enemy feels that same nervousness as we pierce their defenses as the Shosa's swift sword."

Hiroko selected one of the shuttles, waving to gather someone's attention – whomever, really – as she got behind the seat and readied the shuttle. Nothing like taking extended spacecraft training.

The team of Fox T4 shuttles slowly moved forward past the environmental shielding keeping the vacuum of space separate from the insides of the Senbu. Then, just as they could see the Vampire creeping up on the ever-ready Senbu and Vermillion Wing, the shuttles made their jumps. The Pride Wing came out of FTL half way into the Chiharu's defensive gun range. The positron 'striker' arrays came alive and peppered the shuttles with a rain of fire they never experienced before; the amount of fire alone was devastating and demoralizing so close up. "Pride Wing, prepare for deployment! Your objective is to clear the port rapid launch bay of all defensive systems and disable the shielding. Go go go!" Shizuka yelled over communications as the openings for all the shuttles suddenly burst open.

At this point, the doors opened up for the Geshrin Taii. The lift didn't change floors at all, as if the Shosa had been expecting him to act like this the whole time. "Your ranking, accesses and privileges have been reinstated Saiga-taii, the records of this event have been deleted and removed at the orders of Endo-shosa. Also, you are required at the bridge," MEGAMI spoke on cue; this meant that the Pride Wing was now in Chiharu 1's weapons range.

Nicholas stood and picked up his cracked communicator, erasing the agony that shone on his face as he stepped out of the lift and back onto the deck that the bridge was on. “Give me a sitrep, Kameko-chui,” he said, approaching his station and assuming command of the Senbu once again. The Taii sounded colder than he normally did, but did his best to present himself as his normally professional self.

“The Vampire is closing in to our stern, Taii,” Chui Kameko Izuki replied with the same urgency that permeated the bridge’s atmosphere. “Pride Wing has jumped into weapons range with one of the Chiharu and Vermillion Wing is now fully deployed.”

“Thank you, Chui. Order Vermillion Wing to engage the Vampire,” Nicholas said, reviewing a tactical map as he spoke. “Launch all weapons pods and have Weps be prepared to use the CFS offensively.” He made several notes on his console, marking target priorities for the ship’s armor wings. “Have Gold and Obsidian Wings standby for sortie and inform them to prepare to face the second Chiharu.” The Geshrin moved across the deck to another console, leaning over the Yamataian at its controls to input some operations directly. “Tell the helm to bring us within firing range of the same Chiharu that the Pride Wing is assaulting. We will perform anti-armor and ordnance operations until their mission is complete.”

"Y-yes sir!" the Yamataian said as he relayed the orders to the helm from a nearby panel, allowing the Taii continue using his own terminal. The fear was evident in his voice, but the bridge op could only do as he was ordered, even if that did mean death was staring them in the face off the port bow and they were now about to charge into it.

"Pods are launched and operational, CFS is switched to offensive dedication." The cold and calculating Neko ladies of the weapon’s operation were quick and calm about the decision as they prepared for the combat ahead.

The Vampire has moved into tactical field AD, Vermillion Squadron reports that armor has uncloaked in melee range and they are now engaging. Enemy armor consists of six units comprising in AIR and AIR2 units, their appearances and tactics match ones we’ve fought in the past. Two of them however don’t seem to match any file on record," one of the Chui Neko twins reported and then the other spoke up soon after. "Sir, Gold Wing is prepared to deploy, but the Obsidian Wing Squadron is still preparing, Kanno-shoi suggests that they deploy ahead of the others. Your order’s Sir?"

“Kanno-shoi may deploy his Wing,” Nicholas ordered, his voice sounding very deliberate and contemplative for how quickly he had made the decision. “Once launched, Gold Wing is to hold in cover at tactical field F and wait for Obsidian to accompany them to assault their target.” He made some corrections to the strategic markers currently displayed on the mission operations data page before continuing, “If Obsidian does not arrive within ten minutes after Gold makes it to field F they are to continue their operation alone.” The Geshrin showed none of the small amount of compassion towards those under his command that he usually did as he gave the orders, thinking with ruthless efficiency and without any of the cowardice that he would have normally shown in the situation.

Beside the first enemy Chiharu, as soon as the door to the shuttle opened, Hiroko removed herself from the seat and went through the hatch, letting the shuttle fly past her, leaving her in space, out in the loving care of the void again. Then fields kicked into action and she struck forward. A thought shot off to Sakaki as the sniper rushed into range. "Sakaki, try to check with your schematics on a target – you're going to have to operate at range! Follow my lead." And at the same time, the energy cloak went on, the S-Rifle was drawn, and an Ellipsoid was placed to cover her upper body just in case. This was running into the inferno... and as soon as she got into range the first shield unit she could see was going down.

The moment had arrived as they warped right into the array's range and the hail of fire caused the tiny shuttles shields to buckle and shake. But the voice of the Shosa came loud and clear, and as she slipped from the pilot seat, Rin knew what she had to do. Not exiting the shuttle immediately, the soldier gripped onto the ceiling of the craft instead and used the blown-open hatch as momentary cover, poking her two shoulder gauss cannons up and over it, creating a makeshift double barrel "turret" on the Fox T4. A trio of drones were deployed up and over as well to give her a wide field of vision and act as a pair of "eyes” as she looked for targets immediately and relayed the rest of her plan. "Shifuda-heiso – If we can weaken the capital shields enough, my SDMM missiles can create the vital opening the convoy needs to enter!!"

"Do it," Kuriko responded to Rin. "Aim for their shield generators if possible," she said as she flew out of her shuttle and started toward the Chiharu while scanning for a target.

"Understood! Calculating trajectory patterns now... make your move as soon as you see the opportunity." The Nitô Hei furiously calculated a spread on her AIES to the warheads, and then after another positron barrage passed by, she swung out of the door like a gymnast as a volley of 10 SDMM missiles blossomed to life from her thighs and dashed forward past the friendly armors and into the Chiharu's barrier in a perfect geometric shape resembling an orchid.

The moment the shuttles’ opened their doors to release the armors, Masako would instantly move to avoid the incoming attacks and held out both of her aether rifles, one on each hand and was glad she had her stuff correctly connected and would spot where some of the striker arrays were coming from after dodging them. She knew they had a bit of a lag time and opened fire with both rifles at the arrays attempting to destroy them if she could. "Rin, if you can, take out those striker arrays protecting the rapid launch bay so the others can get in," she said telepathically to her teammate.

As she moved forward, a thought occurred to Hiroko and she got onto the comms to the rest of the group. "If there's a hard target that's bothering you, ring me up. I have sniping."

Sakaki wasted no moment in following Hiroko out of the shuttle and shot out of the shuttle right behind her. "I'm with you, Ishida-hei," she replied back and connected her rifle to her right arm's power. She began to weave around the incoming fire while staying within shooting distance of Hiroko.

The Chiharu's fire blasted past the Pride Wing and the shuttles, it seemed everyone was swift enough to keep just ahead of the blasts. All except Kuriko, who, as she went on a b-line towards the Chiharu, was clipped by a blazing green striker beam. The hit was enough to make considerable amounts of damage to her shields. Sigmund reported that she had 71.32% shield capability remaining. The swarm of missiles shifted and weaved, breaking the shape at some points and then it hit! A visible hole in the shields left some of the external cannons exposed. At this point, the team of Fox T4s moved away some distance, trying to keep their payload as safe as possible until the next phase of the operation.

With the shielding weakened, Hiroko pulsed forward, moving at a loopy, erratic pace, often making loop-ti-loops and swerves to try to throw off the scanners for the enemy weapons. Then, schematics and leading trackers and all manner of targeting aids popped up and she took aim. The first large turret... fire, drag across to nearby targets. She swerved, jumping around like a drunken housefly even as she continued the charge. The next target... S-Rifle pulse again. And so the rhythm kept up and she started to space out her shots so they could charge while she dodged.

Kuriko snapped out of the little trance she was in when she was hit with that green beam of energy. FOCUS! she screamed to herself as she began making evasive maneuvers. Kuriko brought her Aether Beam Saber-Rifle to bear on some of the now exposed cannons and fired a shot at one of them before starting to move evasively again.

"Well that certainly didn't work," Masako sighed and began charging up the beam shots on the rifles while evading any newly incoming shots. When the holes opened up from Rin's missiles she grinned. "Thanks Rin," she said over the radio and shifted her lock-on and angle to fire both beams of destruction through the hole in the shields, attempting to blow the array again.

Sakaki weaved and bobbed, taking a few shots when she could, though not totally relying on herself doing any damage herself at this range. The Hei also constantly checked her partner to that she wouldn't accidentally draw herself away just because of turret fire. She began her charge in and locked onto several targets of opportunity and relayed them to Hiroko. "According to Tsukihime, we should work on these..." and continued to bob and fire if only to attract attention to herself.

"Hit; distortions neutralized. Engaging Strikers." Rin used the momentum of her swing to land on the top of the Fox T4 briefly, enough to catch the sight of the shield piercing barrage creating the openings she and the team so desperately needed. Arranging her few drones in a delta formation around the Mindy, the Barrier Shield Module began to power up for its requisite five seconds as she dashed to join her companions before the holes closed and initiated evasive maneuvers on the way there. Once through, she would immediately start peppering the nearest defenses with gauss cannon fire, supporting Masako's assault from a distance.

Hara's grip on his rifle tightened in anticipation of their coming task. "We're on soon, Shin. Let's show them what the White Tiger of the West and the Red Phoenix of the South can do," he sent telepathically.

Shin was smiling widely under his armor, ready for battle. "Right! We'll have to outdo the girls! I only wish we had some knives!"

The Pride Wing's attacks were on point; the array's cannons were easy targets and the more they took out the more they thinned the fire. At this point the shuttles joined in; making missile attacks on the surface they were attacking. This time Rin took a hit, her Barrier Shield taking a full brunt of a striker's fire. The Wing’s AIES came alive with a highlighted target, it appeared that just behind the armor on left side of the rapid launch bay was the generator for the atmospheric shielding. They needed to take it out then the next phase could continue. The only problem was, at this point, a swarm of variable weapons pods lifted from the external armor and began a mess of counter fire. They had to push through them if they were going to get inside.

Kuriko switched to autofire mode on her aether rifle and laid down suppression fire on the new targets while moving to dodge the incoming fire. She wasn't aiming for accuracy, but sheer volume. "Hiroko, Rin: time to work your magic," Kuriko said encouragingly, hoping that the Hei's combined fire and that of the rest of the wing would quickly eliminate this threat.

Masako would advance in closer to the bay herself, firing off a 10 missile cloud and, guided by her AIES fire control, streaked toward the variable weapons as she tried to blast what she could with her rifles on charged beam modes to just hammer them with damage and try to take out the generator if she could.

Ushimo-hei began to work on a new set of targets, “Tsukihime, display any fire toward Ishida-hei,” at which point the HUD changed the incoming fire lines of what could be going her partner's direction and charged up the shield in her left arm. She stopped only to take attempts at calculated aim at turrets while blocking some attacks. Careful... one mishap could end my life, the Neko thought to herself, regretting a little about not leaving an ST backup behind.

Rin managed to continue on as the protective unit absorbed the enemy shot excellently with no damage passing through, though it likely couldn't take too much more punishment like that. "BSM shields holding," she announced to her teammates so they would not worry as she aligned to get a good pattern on the critical target and do what she could to avoid further pod fire while the others kept them busy. "Hai, commencing assault on generator," spoke the Hei, pressing onward, as her SLAG attachment was loaded with an HEI round and blasted at the armored unit, followed up by more bursts of her two gauss cannons. Between the two PA's it should be enough...

Hiroko didn't need to be told twice and lanced forward one last time. Reactor: targeted. She raised her rifle and spun in crazy loops, relying on tons of indicators to keep every burst from her S-Rifle constantly locked onto that system. Every shot went to it until it went down, even as she kept her forearm shield raised up.

On the bridge, a sudden sensors reading prompted an increased commotion. "Torpedoes launched from both Chiharu in a wide spray, they’re going to hit the entire field!" A sensor’s operator cried out over the bustle. It seemed like the first show of true force by the battle goddesses was about to begin.

"Brace for impact!" the Yamataian Chui then ordered as she placed her arms stiff against her panel. In an instant the whole tactical field was rained on with a series of subspace explosions, the array of different torpedoes made the battle a lot harder. The Senbu itself shook violently after suffering a direct hit of three different sorts of massive ordnances. It’d take a second longer before the same valiant Yamataian shook her head back up to glance over her panel. "Shields are at twenty-five percent, FTL is disabled in a 2 AU radius.

“Have our weapons system intercept incoming projectile ordnances, damn it!” Nicholas vociferated furiously over the many simultaneous voices all vying to be heard on the bridge after the torpedoes detonated. “Reroute all power from the Graviton Beam Projectors to shields!” he demanded, not expecting that they’d have to use the Main Repair Bay anytime soon. “We are no good to the Shosa dead! Perform your duties better, and if you’re already doing all that you can do more – I don’t want this vessel to take another major hit!”

The steadfast Yamataian Chui quickly went over her panel and sent down the orders to Engineering and glanced over the reported result. "Yes sir, shields are rapidly refilling to a projected seventy-three percent capacity. All weapons operators are better prepared." she quickly answered for the other stations as the mess of voices was hard to hear clearly in the commotion.

A few shots hit many members of the Pride Wing from the Chiharu's defense matrix, superficial to say the least, but Ushimo-hei did end up being hit hard by an array beam, knocking her shields to a displayed 61.22%. The pods were like shooting practice drones, many of them fell to the attacks. Kuriko was luckily enough to make quite a sweeping destruction. Masako's cloud of missiles was also dead on the target, making the numbers a little easier to manage but still dizzying. Then, Hiroko's instant tactics proved useful, as the shields to the area were restoring she managed to blast through the armor – the result was a single flicker of the atmospheric shields before they vanished. But then, the holes caused from Rin closed up and they couldn’t advance at this point.

"We need to focus our fire!" Kuriko said as she mentally marked a section of the ship where the shields seemed weaker. "Everyone but Masako and I spike that target. As soon as it's down get in there at top speed," Kuriko said as she lowered her rifle to fire in more bursts at the enemy while still trying to dodge enemy fire.

"Alright, one more time, someone open up those shields. Kuriko, you take your team and protect the bay and these shuttles; you'll be on point to take on the extra pods that will be coming in after us. My team is going to be taking our pay load deep inside the ship," Shizuka called over open communications as she opened began manipulating a crate after pulling it out from under her chair.

"Understood Endo-shosa," Kuriko replied. "Good luck." With that, Kuriko returned to firing into the mass of enemies. "Sigmund...this could really be our last fight huh." Kuriko thought; it felt like everything was going in slow-motion to the Neko, perhaps it was because of how crazy the situation was. "Pride Wing 01, once we are in the bay we're to defend the shuttles until Pride Wing 02 returns," Kuriko said over the comms.

I can still fight! Sakaki declared to herself and returned fire. She was good as long as she kept evading and blocking shots. Already she planned a teleport into the landing zone as soon as the shields lifted. This would take away from my capacitors, but I won't last if I don't make it in there...

Just as the satisfying destruction of the generator sent a tingle into her nervous system, Hoshitomo-hei's pleasure was short-lived as the shields reconstituted themselves in the time they spent in the attack. "Shosa, I am unable to launch another salvo," responded the Yamataian over the comms. "I underestimated the might of this flagship's shielding mechanisms. I will not do so again."

Shin perked up, hearing that they were nearing their objective. He prepped his rifle and yelled out to his wing mates, "It's time to kick some pirate ass!"

Masako would do her best to avoid the incoming fire by staying as close to the ship as possible and began to spray the enemy with sub-machine style bursts of fire from her rifles. "I still can't help but think we're in a bit over our heads here," Masako said, "but we're the Pride Wing damn it, let's show these pathetic little cunts who's the top dog in this fight!" she said to the others to try and boost morale a little if she could. "I have one more volley left, Hoshitomo-hei..." she said to her and tried to help by releasing a burst of 5 missiles to try and punch a hole in the shield just enough for them to get through if she could.

Rin continued to evade the green beams that filled the void with death, zigging and zagging at right angles, all while taking aim with what remaining ammunition she had left in her shoulder cannons and another HEI grenade, and even a charged bolt from her forearm for good measure... all upon that single focus. The path forward... it had to be opened at all costs!

Masako had made a wide hole in the shielding, enough for the Pride Wing to push through and the shuttles to fly in two by two. "Advance!" Shizuka yelled over the communication channel as she lifted her LASR and gripped the payload tightly in her right hand. She didn't need to say it twice as the shuttles turned their trajectory and zipped towards the opening at full tilt. At this time the two Gold Wing members of the newly assigned Pride Wing 03 got their own Daisys prepared for the operation and GM-06s ready, steadily breathing as they waited for the boarding order, anxiously waiting for whatever was on the other side of that thick hull.

Shin's breathing was slow and steady, in a sort of trance-meditation. He opened his eyes, going over his suit load out and bringing up his GM-06. He turned and looked at Hara, a smile once again crawling over his face. "It's time to fight and we will succeed."

Hara nodded, tensing up as they drew nearer and nearer. "Right," he said, nodding in Shin's direction. His heartbeat increased with every passing moment. Whatever happened, he would do his best.

Masako waited until the shuttles got through and then got inside the shield herself before turning one rifle on the arrays again to try and nullify them the best she could while using the other to try and knock out more of the variable weapon drones. "Hurry up everyone! Get in," she said as she did her work, trying to cover the shuttles the best she could.

Kuriko fell beside Masako on the other side of the hole, attempting to cover her teammates as well as the shuttles while they filed into the hole. Hopefully we can neutralize this quickly, Kuriko thought as she glanced back toward the Senbu, aware that it wasn't a match for the raw power of a Chiharu.

"Excellent shot. That is the might of the Pride Wing!" exclaimed the Nitô Hei to Masako, as the shield was breached with her superior firepower adding to the mix. "Moving to cover your six, Pride Wing 02." She did not hesitate to make a beeline for the opening through the obstacle, providing a spread of covering gauss fire on the weapons pods, no doubt approaching from the rear. Rin would not let up until she was certain all aboard were in the safety of the landing pad.

And Hiroko 'drunkenly' flitted in, solid beams of aether shining through the darkness, lancing drones one shot after the next, moving with quick succession. Her breath flowed in the way Hiroko commanded it to – inhale ...Acquire target, take aim, exhale, Pull. Target eliminated..., inhale… and so the rhythm went on. The spastic blaze of shots nonetheless joined Masako's more directed assault as Hiroko herself moved towards the objective!

Ushimo-hei kept her defensive posture until she saw Hiroko beginning her charge. She then activated her teleport to bypass the shield hole or close to it and fly into the landing zone. In doing so, Tsukihime would fill any enemy with a load of laser from her shoulder mounts.

The members of the Pride Wing deployed were now securely on the deck of the Chiharu as well as all five shuttles, surprisingly. Though most were a little banged up and scorched, what mattered was the cargo was protected. The massive insides of the Chiharu put the Senbu's expansive armor bay to shame. It was large enough to fit four Sakura-class ships comfortably with plenty more room for shuttles and armor and working crews. But here was the stunning part, it was empty – not even a cargo crate in the whole of the area or anyone there with arms to put up a defensive.

As her gauss cannons spent their remaining ammo on the rearguard barrage, Hoshitomo-hei had a good view of the Senbu in the distance. Though it seemed to be coming closer to engage the Chiharu, prompting a fleeting worry from her. As her Mindy floated down to a landing in the shuttle bay, a secure subspace channel was attempted to be opened at long range to the Anri-class vessel, though it steadily degraded over a few seconds. Only the following was legible to the comms personnel receiving it: "Taii... Concepts of Unconventional Ship System Applica... con... 2... over... shi... emitt..." Whatever else was said was lost as they entered the interior of the vessel and all feeds ceased.

The message was sent straight to the Taii for his own personal review by one of the bridge operators on comms. But then an even more grave situation came to be reported directly above the chatter by the mission ops in charge of the Vermillion Wing. "Sir, Vermillion teams one through four have gone silent. Team five can't hold out much longer. The Vampire, sir, it... overloaded their generators and left them dead in the water without life support." The Female Yamataian had tears fought back in her gray eyes; she had become very attached to the members of the wing she was in charge of.

As Gold Wing was just about to begin its operations without Obsidian Wing, they were in Tactical Field O and all outfitted with Sylph Wing packs and enough weapons to put on quite a show. Obsidian Wing, however, was indeed still on the ship and yet to deploy, their status was still; "prepping."

Nicholas had only been trying to decipher what Rin was trying to tell him when word about Vermillion team came to him. “That is unfortunate, but we need…” he began trailing off at the end, still determined in his own mind to target the Chiharu that Shizuka was raiding. There was a pause in his speech as he looked to the tactical map, staring at it the reality of the situation became clear. The course of action that he was currently taking was tactically unsound – irrational – and for the first time he saw that. “Bring us about! Target the Vampire!” he commanded. “All available Obsidian Wing teams are to launch now to assist Gold Wing. Once we’ve come within weapons range, open fire on the pirate vessel and have the remaining Obsidian teams join what’s left of Vermillion.”

A communication to the Taii came up on his screen, and without a prompt to have him accept or not it came alive and opened up with a small messy-haired Neko with short purple hair. She looked up at the Geshrin with a childlike, toothy grin. "Good news, sir, the captured Vampire is operational. We just need a crew of three to come down and man the thing!" she reported, seemingly almost happy about the combat like Shizuka was... coping with the stress so to say. Before he could even speak, the Black haired Yamataian Chui sprung up from her sear and turned to face the Geshrin XO. "Saiga-taii, I volunteer to take command of the ship." Izuki, the chief bridge operator spoke with the same fire in her eyes that many of her kin did. She was prepared for war and would do anything for victory.

The Geshrin Taii looked somewhat annoyed when the purple haired Neko girl’s communication interrupted his work, but ended up being glad at what she had to say. After the communications window closed and Izuki had asked for command of the salvaged vessel, Nicholas nodded. “Permission granted, Chui. Your performance here on the bridge incapable of being replaced, but for that reason I cannot deny you the opportunity,” he responded to the Yamataian woman. “You may select the two other operators who you wish to accompany you, but please make sure to not to take any essential personnel.”

She bowed at her hips in a most formal and respectful bow. "I will provide you a swift victory Saiga-taii, on my honor as a member of the Kameko Clan." With that she then stood back and turned her head to face down over the bridge. "Yoshihisa-shoi and Toda-heisho, you’re with me. Find someone to replace your terminal and follow me to the MRB, we have new orders!" she yelled over the commotion to call upon her candidates. One of the vicious looking Neko weapons operators and a Mission OPs who was in charge of the killed men out there – she'd have quite the vendetta to fulfill – Izuki knew of no other who was more deserving.

After he had returned a respectful bow to Izuki and her chosen left, Nicholas continued his duties commanding the Senbu. The urge to turn the ship back around and confront the Chiharu with Shizuka remained present in the front of his mind, but the Geshrin used all of his willpower to suppress it. He turned to the officer who had replaced the black haired Yamataian, “We outrange the Vampire, tell the helm to keep us beyond their firing arcs when we move to engage.”

There was no replacement for the chief operator, but there were still the other two who stood at her level. The lovely pink and blue Neko twins who the Geshrin wasn't too fond of were there and ready to receive and relay his orders. "Relaying now, Sir." The next twin spoke up with a new status update. "The problem with the Obsidian Wing has been resolved sir; apparently the CO had taken this time to make emergency ST backups of his Squad." She then commented quietly to her sister, "Can you believe it, what a coward..." Who then answered with a 'tch' and eye roll as she went about her own terminal. "Sir, we're now moving back into tactical field T. Vermillion team 05 also reports that they have destroyed one of the Vampire's deployed AIR units and are making a rapid retreat to our protection." Yes, even with that many Mindys in one place, they still only managed to take out one of the highly skilled, blood-hungry pirates.

“Send my reprimands to Obsidian Wing’s CO,” Nicholas said in a frigid, unaffected tone. “Inform him that his objective is to personally take down the enemy armor wing leader without any assistance from his teams.” Although he knew that he was greatly responsible for the current losses that had been taken, what Obsidian’s commander had done infuriated the Taii. In a situation so desperate there was be no excuse for taking the time to make ST scans – especially if, as an armor wing, his soldiers’ were meant to keep fairly recent backups.

"With pleasure, Sir," Ayano the blue haired twin said in an almost sadistic way as she cued up her connection with the Obsidian Commanding Officer and texted him his new orders. Viewing his reaction via MEGAMI, both of the twins had scowled at him with a snobbish glare, and then they simply returned to their operations. "Gold Wing has commenced attacking the second Chiharu. Initial damage report states that the Wing has only one member to receive armor damage and team two have sustained light shield damage. Operations are continuing smoothly," Ayane, the pink haired twin reported as she glanced over the tactical data regarding the wing who seemed to be doing wonderfully despite the odds.

“Excellent,” the Taii commented as the battle seemed to be going their way, even in spite of the losses taken by Vermillion Wing. When the Senbu and captured Vampire arrived on the scene, the enemy Vampire and her armor would doubtlessly be eradicated fairly quickly. “What about the Sho-… Pride Wing?” he stumbled, still unable to ease his concern for Shizuka and her mission. “Is there any word from them since they entered the enemy vessel?”

"No Sir, there's been no contact from the Pride Wing squadron since their entrance to the ship. But the enemy pods are still circulating around the ship and heading towards the bay they entered. From that alone, I can assume their still alive," the operator said with firm confidence not only in her skill but in the Shosa's combat ability. Then, at this point, they smirked at each other, once they knew he wasn't looking that is. They were happy to see that their Shosa was getting her way into his heart, which made them plenty content now with his footing in the chain of command. "The Vampire craft is collecting its armors; we not in range to fire and the Obsidian Wing is arming. I've given forced launch orders to team zero-one along with its CO to give chase."

“Helm, increase propulsion to flank speed!” Nicholas dictated with a critical desire in his voice. “I don’t want them getting away again!” He looked to the systems chart open on his console, checking to ensure that there was enough power to successfully increase the ship’s pace. "Operations, order all available armor teams and Kameko-chui to pursue the enemy immediately!"

A vengeful girl's voice broke the ambient bridge noises on the SS Fang as her ruby red eyes flicked to the side of her view screen. "They fell for it..." she said aloud as she gripped hard on the controls to the Vampire and turned it full around full to face the Anri. "Prepare for our revenge, prepare for the retribution of our beloved Blood Fang!" she yelled out over the ship's internal system. Her Neko hand was placed on a panel to her side, a finger lay on a large red button as she charged back at the Senbu. "Your death will not be in vein sister, if we go down here then we’ll bring your ship to the other side with us..." she said in a whisper before pressing down a series of commands on her terminal.

Both fallen goddesses, the grand Chiharu flagships opened a rain of fire on the deep space repair vessel; there were so many torpedoes that the ship could only do so much to defend it. It took a mighty blow which shook the ship to the core. A Yamataian engineer stumbled up to his panel and yelled above the chaos around him. "Shields are down!" That heart sinking feeling set in now, Nick’s advance was sharply thwarted as the power matrix was trying to re-enforce power to the damaged shields and thus taking from the engines.

“Open fire with all Variable Weapons Pods; use them to concentrate on and target the Vampire’s critical systems!” Nicholas commanded furiously, feverishly entering commands at his console as he did so. “Order the power armor teams that are with us to stay close to the Senbu! Pride and Gold will take care of the two Chiharu, it is our duty to ensure that this font is cleared!” He was no engineer, so didn’t know much about power systems, but did know from his experience as a comms technician that their deep space transmission equipment used a large amount of energy. “Cut all power flowing to our long-range communications capabilities and use that to bolster what systems it can,” he said, remembering that their ability to use such systems was jammed at the moment.

In the rapid launch bay, the Pride Wing’s Daisy team, with the leadership of the Red Lion, was now prepared. They had all of their equipment and arms in hand and ready to go. At this point, the blast doors which closed in behind them after entering were blasted open by the ship’s own defense pods. "Protect these shuttles!" Shizuka yelled out to the Mindy team as she then signaled for the Daisy raiders to follow her as she charged ahead at a door leading into the ship. The pods were filtering in rapidly; like a scene from a horror movie, they came in a swarm and restlessly fired on the Pride Wing.

After Sakaki had shot up the empty room, she looked around a bit puzzled. Where are the guards? the Neko wondered while gazing around the room. They had to know we were breaking in here, they were shooting back at us... Then Ushimo-hei shook her head and brought her attention to the shuttles coming in and the order to stay put. She didn't like this feeling she was having, something like Deja Vu.

Shin rushed out of the shuttle, following the captain. Both his GM-06 and shield were up at the ready and he was scanning ahead for any enemies. He let the rest of Pride Wing take care of the pods, a slight smile on his face, telepathically communicating with his squad mates. "Hey, don't any of you die while we're taking care of business! I don't think the Shosa would forgive you!"

Kuriko turned to face the oncoming swarm. "Hoshitomo-hei, how is the Barrier Shield module holding up?" Kuriko asked over the radio while she landed backwards. "If you have an Aether Beam Rifle, use rapid fire mode to down as many as possible," Kuriko said as she lifted an inch off the ground so that she could strafe and dodge enemy fire while shooting. A spray of aether erupted from Kuriko's Beam-saber Rifle, her fire was careful to skirt areas where Pride Wing members were between her and the incoming drone swarm though.

Rin caught her breath a moment as Shin's message hit her and he received a telepathic response back. "I can't believe we're using your plan after all Nekki-hei. I sincerely hope you prove my assessment of it is incorrect. Now go!" As this was sent out, she girded her Mindy and checked the shield levels on the HUD, now directing communications to her commander. "The BSM is online and functional, but it can only take so much," began the young woman, grabbing her LASR and using the shuttles as cover for a moment from the assault. "I have a suggestion, Heisho. We need to divert fire from the Fox T4's if at all possible and multiply our firepower. I believe with the discus shape of the Weapon Pods, they can be mounted in some fashion and in turn draw aggression into each other."

Masako would stand her ground in the rapid launch bay and open fire on the pods with her gauss cannon and rifles, trying to take targeted shots instead of wasting her ammo. She wanted to take them out with the fewest shots she could per pod. Using her CFS to divert some of the lower powered shots from the pods, she would engage her energy cloak as well when she had to let her weapons recharge to protect herself before opening fire upon them again. Hearing Kuriko's instruction, she shifted to rapid fire spray to take out more of the pods at one time. "Nekki-hei, don't fuck up. Do your best for a change and make all proud of you," Masako added too.

Sakaki only had a moment to reflect about the situation when Tsukihime warned her of incoming fire and turned to return fire. First aiming her saber rifle, and then opening up with her shoulder pulse cannons on full auto. The Neko had little cover to reach right away, and was maneuvering to reach the shuttles as soon as she could.

Hiroko turned this way and that, evaluating their rather unenviable situation. But she knew what she had to do. Backing up to a comrade facing the other direction – it didn't matter who, she clutched the S-rifle in one hand and readied the forearm blaster of the other. Then, she glanced at the sides and began a firing pattern. Rather than switch the rifle to full auto, she held it for 3-second bursts, sweeping the beam across the enemies for that fairly luxurious amount of time. Meanwhile, she sent rapid pulses from her forearm weapon at anything that was outside of her beams. And whenever her rifle was charging, full-auto sprays from the forearms began.

On the Senbu, a bridge op yelled over everyone. "MRB opening, captured Vampire vessel launching! New designation: YSS Koumori. They're moving out now, sir!" Her words carried some of the greatest news of the day. But that didn’t last long, another operator screamed above the voices as she braced herself against her console. "Sir, the pirates are picking up speed! We're going to be rammed!" The damaged pirate Vampire-class was worse for wear and took so much damage from the hail of fire from the Senbu's defense pods that there was no turning back. Unloading all of their ordinances before advancing, they slotted themselves in the MRB, pushing against the other Vampire to pin both vessels in the Anri.

“Recall all armor teams in our vicinity!” Nicholas bellowed, preparing the ship-wide intercom for activation. “Attention, all personnel: prepare for possible boarders. Repeat: prepare for possible boarders,” he broadcast throughout the ship as he sent orders to the armories to allow personnel to arm themselves. He opened a direct communications line to the Koumori, hoping that Izuki and her small crew were still able to operate the vessel. “Kameko-chui, do what you can to dislodge yours and the enemy ship,” he said quickly, deciding to not ask whether or not she was all right – if she was dead, she wouldn’t be able to follow his order anyway. “You are authorized to fire all weapons at enemy power armor contacts with the exception of your main weapon.”

There was no response from the Koumori, it seemed like the blast from the pirate Vampire had damaged the captured vessel enough that their communications were either knocked out or the crew was incapacitated. "Obsidian teams one and two are all we have, they are moving to rout the enemy boarders. All trained armored personnel are ordered to suit up and protect the ship. Engineering unit 03 is reporting ready for combat and are also moving to engage!" a Neko yelled above the noise with urgency as she went about her panel with a quick pace.

“Report when hostile armor numbers are made available,” Nicholas said. “What’s the damage situation?” he asked to a damage control officer nearby. “Have any decks between us and the Main Repair Bay been compromised?” Being the coward that he was, the Taii wanted to make sure that there were sill five decks of personnel and ship between himself and the enemy. Even that didn’t seem like enough.

"We have eighty-three units now moving in to engage the boarding party; the situation is turning around sir!" a mission Ops called back in report to the Taii after his request for numbers. Then, another report came in from damage control. "Deck eleven is compromised sir, and all decks containing our main repair bay. Internal structural integrity is holding, but any more severe damage and we will be in trouble!" Then an urgent Neko mission operative drew her pistol and rushed towards the door. "One slipped by the defense sir, she’s unarmored and moving towards the bridge!" she yelled at him as she moved towards the door.

In the Chiharu, Pride Wing was holding up well for the moment, the first wave of Variable Weapons Pods was scrapped. But there was still no stop in their numbers as more and more began pouring into the bay. The shuttles didn’t join in the attack; instead Stararcher switched the power in each T4 Fox to their shields. She was in a power armor, so there was no need for life-support, and everything at this point was dedicated to protecting the volatile insides.

The Daisy squad was led deep into the ship; the Shosa had an expansive knowledge of the ship’s interior. Not only because she was programmed with the basic concepts, but because the first ship she had served on was a Chiharu. This only made her plan more validated as she knew exactly what she needed to do. "Daichi-heisho, lead the rest of the squad to the bridge. I want you to locate the ACS and take it out, I’m going to the core to drop off my payload and take out the main computer. If you guys don’t get there before me then this won’t work. That auxiliary computer needs to be offline – hit them fast and hard!" The Shosa then nodded her head to the Daisy squad and turned down an opposite hall to rush off towards her target. This is when Daichi turned the other way and took lead.

Shin went over what's happened in the past and applied it to this situation. "Endo-shosa, this is obviously a trap. Most likely, they are expecting you to go to the core. One of us should accompany you. I nominate myself." Shin stood still in his armor, a smile on his face.

Shizuka didn’t pause in her rapid advance, blowing through blast doors and using alternative routes she knew to be quicker. "If it is a trap, Shin, then I will take it head-on. You have an important job here; go up to the bridge take out the auxiliary computer and fight your way out, they'll be guarding the bridge harder than anything else. This calm won't last long; I can feel it in my blood. If you want to prove yourself to me, then complete your objective and survive long enough for me to give you your medal. Now go!" Shizuka ordered, sounding sincere in her words to the Yamataian.

Kuriko almost breathed a sigh of relief before the next wave came rushing in. "We'll give it a try," Kuriko responded to Rin. "Take Ushimo-Hei with you, Sakiyurai-Hei and myself will stay back in case it doesn't work," Kuriko said. Suddenly Kuriko became painfully aware that the only things that occupied the bays were the shuttles, their armors, and the incoming drones. No enemies, no other shuttlecraft, not even boxes. This feels like a trap... Kuriko thought darkly before switching back to single beam fire mode on her aether rifle and firing. "Masako, fire in single shot or three round burst only, we don't want to hit Rin or Sakaki," Kuriko said.

"Hai, Heisho. Follow my lead, Ushimo-hei, and let's use the enemy's weapons against them!" agreed Rin, as she daringly popped out of the shadow of the nearest shuttle she had been firing from and then darted toward the wall of the gargantuan bay and up onto the ceiling. While in motion she reorganized her drone constellation through the AIES to give pinpoint targeting of incoming pulses and pods in all directions as she laid down some LASR armor-piercing rounds to draw attention. When she saw her chance, she reversed and fell directly on the flat top of the nearest aggressive weapon pod. She remained there, like standing on a giant surfboard... and delayed only long enough for several of the other pods to lock onto her position and fire on the platform she was using. That was her cue to jump to the next...

Masako would keep her position, spraying the pods with one rifle while the other recharged and continued that spray pattern. She'd use her gauss cannon to snipe pods getting too close to the shuttles themselves. "You ok in there so far?" Masako asked the shuttle pilots. "Alright Kuriko," Masako said, shifting to the bursts she requested, "I have my fire control on to prevent me from firing on them when they're in my line of fire," she explained.

"Hai, Hoshitomo-hei," replied Sakaki as she shifted her saber rifle's energy to her forearms and shot herself forward when the first wave of fire began. She sharply launched herself up and toward the drones while slicing them with the sword, only stopping long enough on a drone to spray fire from her pulse lasers and to leave when fire was directed at her. The Neko would block with her left shield when needed while following a similar pattern to Rin's.

Hiroko kept firing away, firing away, until suddenly... Rin's stunt gave her a very interesting idea. Maybe if... yes. Suddenly, she stopped her sweeping pattern, and only keeping a pittance of pulses to cover her side, she made a CFS-assisted lunge at one of the pods with her S-rifle in saber mode, trying to impale one right through its weapon, her ellipsoid shield and energy cloak protecting her from incoming fire. Then, with a pull, the saber was removed and she grabbed the pod by the hole she had cut inside it, proceeding to use it as a ramming shield, bowling through a field of pods as she whirled with her S-rifle, fire-control keeping her from hitting her wing mates.

The Heisho Daichi, the one leading the raiding party to the Chiharu’s bridge, turned to look over his shoulder at Shin. "You heard the lady. Let’s move, Hei!" the leader shouted. Then they turned the corner to the hall which would lead them to their objective; the Shosa was correct. There was a force there waiting for them to arrive, a Blood Red AIR2 with similar markings that the Mindy had. He was surrounded by a cluster of four weapon pods. They all opened fire suddenly as the Heisho turned to face them with his gun moving up to fire; he wasn’t prepared and was caught by surprise. In a in a heartbeat his life was ended, the blasts scorching the wall behind him and his Daisy falling to the floor from the combined fire.

Shin held up his hand, motioning for the rest of the squad to get against the inner wall of the hallway’s turn and out of the AIR's firing arc. Detaching one of his tactical drones and letting it float around the corner to give him a good shot at the AIR, he spoke to the squad. "All of you, look. I know we don't know each other very well. I know, often times we aren’t as useful as the Mindy pilots. But today, right here, on this ship – this is our glory day! The captain, Endo-shosa, the best damn commander in the Star Army bar none, gave us an order to get to the bridge. I'm not going to let her down when she needs us most, are any of you?" Shin breathed that out, channeling his inner hero or whatever to try to give a morale boosting speech. In a flash, he brought his shield up in front of his body, his energy shields focused forward completely, firing bolts of burning plasma at the AIR2’s pods as he thrust forward using his gravimetric drives, zigzagging and dodging the inevitable return fire. Hoping to screw with his opponents mind, he just asked, "Hey you pirate bastard! You gotta ambush us to get a kill? Well!?"

Shin had given a motivating speech, but Hara was still wondering how skilled this AIR pilot was... Nevertheless, he would follow the charge. Deploying both of his tactical drones, he directed them around the corner and targeted the AIR before dashing just from behind cover, shield raised, and launching five mini-missiles up and down towards the AIR in a combination of fire from his rifle and the pulse weapons mounted in his Daisy's forearms, before moving back for cover as quickly as possible.

The other member of the Pride Wing 03 team, the previously Gold Wing member nodded once after Shin's speech. It was distracting enough to keep his mind off the death of his team mate, but not enough to make him charge into death's grip just yet. Instead, he leaned out and covered the other two as they advanced into the fire. Shin valiantly took out three of the four pods, and another one was taken out by a stray mini missile from Hara after effectively shooting down the others. "You took the only thing in this world that I loved. Today, I bring about her revenge..." the male enemy pilot spoke aloud in response to Shin, even as he was being fired upon and rushed at; his Yamataian was calm and ruthless spoken with a thick Lorath accent.

Shin grunted hard as he was punched back, coughing up some of his blood. "Do you really think she wanted you to go out this way? Really!?" Shin yelled at the apparently Lorath pilot, bringing up his plasma rifle and opening fire with everything he head left. Bolts of star-hot plasma, the armor's entire quantity of micro-missiles, and the forearm NSPs all aimed directly at the AIR2. "I won't die so easily! I have someone to live for!"

Shin's attacks were uncontested; it was as if the pilot wanted death. He fell to his knees and then with his head glancing up to the ceiling above and in his mind, towards an afterlife where his beloved captain stared down at him from, he reached with a metallic hand to caress her face one last time as his last breath entered his lungs. "We will finally be free from this life... to venture the heavens toge–" Then he fell before finishing, his armor stopped moving. No life signs came from him after, but the head did come cleanly off from the rest of the armor, as per the standard Nepleslian configuration.

Hara cursed to himself as he saw Shin propelled against the wall. His initial fears subsided as the guy still was able to keep talking and fire at the AIR, even after something like that. Nevertheless, time was not on their side, and every moment they wasted here... He looked to his fellow Daisy pilot, then back towards Shin. "Shin… hold tight!" he said hurriedly, looking down the hallway. It wasn't very far now...no problem..? He next gave a sidelong look towards the remaining Daisy pilot. "Let's hurry up and fry that computer," he said, rushing down the hallway. Once in range, he raised his weapon and began firing a stream of plasma into his target.

In the Chiharu’s bay, the tactics used by the Pride Wing were working, and made a wonderful display of showmanship. But for the time it took them to hop from one to the next, it took a considerable few seconds more as well as moving from target to target in melee. The upside was they weren’t depleting ammo sources; the pods were still coming in full force, but it seemed that if they kept this up they would get over powered in sheer numbers alone.

Kuriko watched as the tactic worked, but more and more enemies kept pouring through the gaping hole. We need to slow them down, Kuriko thought as she fought her feelings of being overwhelmed. If we don't we'll die. The Neko was about to cry, not because of her own death, but because the people under her would be killed. They didn't even have an ST backup to go off of if they did die. That's about when she saw the Zesuaium door lying on the ground, the same door that they had blasted open. "The door!" Kuriko almost screamed into the mic. "Masako help me get the door, we might be able to hold them off for a little bit if we can seal the hole back up with this door! Everyone else, try to give us some cover,” Kuriko said as she ran over and started to lift the heavy Zesuaium door.

Rin was panting hard as she kept leaping, over and over, each explosion sending another tingle down her spine. She tried to put all other thoughts out of her mind as she accomplished destruction of the pods by her own hands and her LASR fire. But they just kept coming, more and more of them. This tactic would not last much longer... but thankfully Kuriko provided a new tactic. "We need to stymie this flow as long as possible," gasped the Yamataian between hops, "I will buy you as much time as I can!" Instead of leaping off the next pod she found, she instead powered up her forearm weapon in saber mode and dug it deep into the bottom of the free floating module. Then, the Nitô Hei whipped it around with all her strength, hurling it like a discus at the hole the pods were pouring into, and followed up the projectile with SLAG airbursts, emptying a clip in an attempt to push the horde back for a vital few moments.

Masako looked over and nodded and sprinted for the door as well and helped Kuriko get it up to make use of it. "Kuriko, calm down. And don’t' you dare start crying or feel afraid in the face of death like this," Masako said in a stern telepathic tone. "Because if you are, it'll broadcast itself to everyone else and it'll start to make us get pessimistic about it. You're not alone here ok? We’re all here to help each other, as long as we believe in the others to do their job everything will work out. Sometimes you gotta have faith in your comrades," she added, her tone softening as she helped the Heisho move it. Masako had sensed the fear and anguish Kuriko had been feeling and she wanted to try and stiffen her friend's resolve.

After a slice of another pod while still standing on one, Sakaki had a short chance to breathe and replied to her commander, "I will try," then back flipped before incoming fire destroyed her former platform. Slicing two more on the way down, she landed on the ground kneeling but quickly jumped back and continued her rate of fire at the horde. She then moved quickly about to avoid fire and made a dash for a pod, making it spin, hoping it would fire on its own pods, before quickly moving away.

The door was easy to lift, and they could easily push it back into place. But as they moved some of their concentration to the plan, The Pride Wing was getting more overrun. They needed to get that door into place now or the bay itself was going to be so dense with pods that they’d be drowning in a sea of fire.

"We need to move fast," Kuriko said to Masako, happy for her friend's support, both physical as well as emotional. Kuriko accelerated to max speed while increasing her weight as much as possible. The Neko wasn't going to stop, even if she felt the reassuring slam of Zesuaium against the inside of the ship's hull.

Masako would accelerate as well to help push the plate into position with her and increased her weight when it slapped against the hull of the ship. "We can hold it," she said, her gauss cannon swiveled to pick off any drones that tried to get near their sixes. "This'll help, now we pray the Shosa made it to the core and is ready to destroy it and that our idiot man-child hasn't gotten himself killed..." Masako said. "Shin may be a dipstick at times but he's doing his part too."

Hoshitomo-hei simply couldn't continue to push them back with her fire alone, so then switched course and immediately rushed forward at full throttle and slammed into the door to push it the rest of the way with a decent shove while her drones and gauss shoulder cannons covered the group's rear similar to Masako with their rapidly dwindling ammunition. As she gritted her teeth and pushed as hard as the enhanced Mindy would go for her Yamataian build, she let slip a passing comment in the heat of battle as every tendon, both natural and artificial, strained at max power. "Shin is a fool... but he is not going to break his promises... so easily," half-scoffed Rin to Masako.

Ushimo-hei was still slicing away with good pacing. Her training allowed her to keep pressing herself and Tsukihime continued to map out firing patterns of the droids. Her forearm shields, however, were being used up and at any moment she could mess up, but she kept moving though the remaining throng of pods. Sakaki had nothing to comment about Shin as she was still rather at odds with him from the scene in the onsen, but did not wish ill fall upon any of her comrades.

Back on the Senbu’s bridge, Nicholas unfastened his holster, allowing him to draw his pistol if he needed to. “Cover the entrance thresholds!” he commanded, projecting his voice as loudly as he could to the entirety of the bridge’s crew. If the unarmored foe came onto his command deck, he wanted to ensure that she would be taken out quickly. Considering the situation, he felt that it would be better to deal with the intruder as expeditiously as possible rather than have her wreak havoc on dozens of distracted bridge operators.

The lift doors began to ooze a red thick liquid; its viscosity seemed to have the same consistory of blood. The edges pooled in to the room and towards the bridge crew. Then, a second after the chilling effect set in, the doors were forced open and a small, pale skinned, light violet haired Nekovalkyrja stood there with her head lofted eerily to one side, blood pouring out of where her eyes should be. "Vengeance for the Mishimishi..." was all she said on her entrance, and then all the lines of blood sprung alive and assaulted the bridge crew, eagerly the tentacles reached for limbs and necks, who at this point were firing on her.

Nicholas drew his NSP, dropping to cover behind his workstation when he saw the hemosynthetic tentacles begin to attack the bridge crew. The older Neko models were even more fearsome than the admittedly few Mishhuvurthyar he’d encountered; he’d never seen their abilities in action. From the relative safety of his cowering place, he could witness those around him being maimed and broken by the enemy’s ability. Get up and do something, you bastard! he thought as he closed his eyes tightly. This is what he’d always done when faced with combat – hide. Not once had he fired at an enemy in combat, even for all that he’d seen. You’re the ship’s first officer! This is no way to act anymore! The Geshrin opened his eyes, watching as a crimson tendril wrapped tightly around a nearby Neko’s neck, slithering up her cheek as it lifted her off of the deck. She stared at him, her hand losing grasp of her pistol as the life began to leave her eyes. He stared back, trembling for a few moments, before he got to his feet and steadied his aim, firing precisely at the tentacle that attacked her. As she dropped, he moved to brace her fall and checked her condition. When the Taii was confident that she would live, he moved on, firing his sidearm at appendages as he advanced on their source.

The pink haired, blue eyed chief bridge operator looked at Nick with nothing but gratitude in her eyes, still stunned by the attack to speak. Her sister, however, was not so lucky, she lay dead close by after one of the tentacles shoved itself in through her eyes and collected her blood to add to the NH-17’s growing pool every time a someone fell. Growing larger, her pool was added to as she paced her steps towards the approaching Geshrin. Even when she was hit from the NSP fire, she’d simply continue forward and moments later the wound would have rapidly healed. She didn’t strike just yet; she knew who he was just from his uniform alone. Obviously he was the commander of this ship, the man who had her sister killed in front of her. She planned to enjoy his death.

Realizing that the Neko’s strength was only being augmented as more and more of his crew fell to her assault, he took cover behind a console. He was close to the enemy at this point, her tentacles whipping past him to attack others as he remained unscathed. Remembering back to his childhood and the rantings of his mother about the Nekovalkyrja, he recalled something that she’d said. If they ever find the will to rise up and take the Empire for themselves, not all is lost. Their weakness to genetic scanning will protect us from their evil and humankind will remain dominant over their creations of war, he remembered. “MEGAMI, perform a genetic scan on the hostile present on the bridge,” he said aloud. “Isolate the scan to only the target; if you cannot, then do not perform it,” the Taii added, unaware that the vulnerability to genetic scan was not present in his NH-29 allies, not wanting to have to explain to Shizuka why he’d killed most of the bridge crew if the scan could not be localized.

The Chiharu’s ACS was an easy target, Hara and the Gold Wing Daisy plot made quick work of it, then with that over the entire Pride Wing received a mission update and new orders: "Auxiliary Computer System disabled, phase two of operations now underway. Pride Wing 01 is to escort Fox T4 Shuttle 05 back to the Senbu; Pride Wing 03 is to board that shuttle for a lift back. Once the squadron is clear, the charges placed to disable the craft will be detonated as well as the crippling munitions onboard the additional shuttles.

Shin had to force himself to move. Despite all the pain, the horrible crushing pain, he had to move. "Shifuda-heisho, Saruwatari-hei, I'm going to attempt to rescue Endo-shosa. And tell Hoshimoto-hei I’m sorry I couldn’t keep my promise to her." Shin stood up, coughing up more blood, with some meat mixed in. "Byakko, you gotta help me on this." The apparently insane pilot grinned, and floated off towards the KAMI room.

"Shin! Wait!" Hara called out. "The Shosa knows what she's doing… have some faith in her," he tried to reason, but he was already sure he knew how this would play out. "You aren't in any shape for this... she'll be fine. They don't call her the Red Lion for nothing!"

Kuriko heard the orders come in and started to relay them to her unit. "You heard her, as soon as everyone gets loaded up, we're going to bust out of here." Silently, Kuriko sent a message to Shizuka. "Endo-shosa, how are you going to escape?" Kuriko asked before focusing on Shin. "No, you get back here. If anybody is going back for Endo-shosa it should be someone in a Mindy who can teleport her in and out. Besides, you’re too hurt as is, get back to the shuttle now. We won't leave her behind," Kuriko said to Shin.

Masako would nod to Kuriko and would release the door for her to hold and would go to board the shuttle as per orders. She'd be securely in and ready to go after she got through the drones, using her energy cloak to shield her from the damage. But once inside she'd disable it and sit down. "I'm in," she said over comm to Kuriko, "and she does know what she's doing, she'd probably already planned it out. Remember she probably has a teleporter herself."

Rin continued to hold the line, covering the shuttles with all the firepower she could muster with back against the door preventing more in until the exact moment they were ready to make their escape. Though she had momentary doubts about the orders, she knew the Shosa was imminently craftier that some others were giving her credit for. And thus she prepared to follow her orders to the letter. Her icy tone cut through the chatter to the distant unit 03, a familiar voice ringing in the telepathic digital comm. "Nitô Hei Nekki Shin, you are a soldier and will follow your superior's orders! You are in no condition to act otherwise at this point. I will not forgive you if you disregard your obligation to survive this conflict!"

Shizuka's voice came over open communication. "All of you are to leave; I still have life ahead of me yet. Now get the hell out of here before I just blow us all up together!" She breathed out hard after cutting all communication to the Wing, and then she used a command override to Shin’s Daisy and forced the AIES to get him on the shuttle.

Shin sighed, unable to struggle with his armor locked up. "Understood, Shosa." He chose not to respond to Rin for certain reasons

With the Shin situation taken care of, Hara returned to his shuttle as ordered. It wasn't over yet, but at the very least he was still alive.

Kuriko prepped herself to move. “We'll let the shuttle lift off first, let them launch out first. Once they've cleared the ship we'll teleport directly into it," Kuriko said. "We just need to wait for the shuttles to get ready," Kuriko said one last time while her mind lingered on Shizuka.

Rin sighed ever so briefly as the Lioness took control of her wayward cub, and she tried to put any further worries about him out of her mind. Right now she had to stay focused. There were over 1000 functional pods outside still trying to breach the Zesuaium barricade by her estimates, and this lull would not last long. Shifting the weight of her armor to keep the door shut she murmured, "I'm afraid I am not equipped with the teleportation module. I will thus escort the shuttles through the exit more directly, Heisho. With remaining power in my BSM unit, I should be able to enhance the shuttle's shielding with my armor's own systems, increasing the likelihood of our escaping through the arrays without serious damage."

Once everyone was on board the shuttle, Stararcher closed the hatch and turned the small craft to face the door. "Alright ladies, let's make like a tree and leave!" With that she charged up an aether blast and blew out the door. The pods that started to filter in were fired upon as she waited for the Mindys to figure out what they were going to do.

"Let's go," Kuriko said hurriedly. She didn't want to be playing around with the pods any longer than they had been already. Kuriko landed on the top of the shuttle and would use her forearm shields to cover herself and the shuttle as well as fire her gauss cannon at the drones while they escaped.

True to her utterance, Rin let go of the door as the craft busted through. Swept up in the momentum, she pressed her Mindy close to the front portion of the hull, following its movements and putting her BSM module at full power with whatever was left, buffering the area of frontal shields for the charge to freedom. Of course this was paired with a salvo of all she could muster: spent LASR shells flew onto the hangar deck and the last of her gauss cannons spent their fire on all pods that stood in their path. She half smiled at the pun of Stararcher's.

In the anarchy on the Senbu’s bridge, the pirate Neko mistress answered before the computer could, who then did outright scan her and provide the Taii with her data on the nearest convenient panel. "You’re the third one to try that..." she said as she continued her approach and outright killed even more of the bridge crew with a chaos of death and destruction. Her dark red tendrils suddenly sprung up from all round the Taii, his ankles and wrists were the first thing grabbed and his body was pulled straight and held him forcibly as she gazed over him with her bleeding eye sockets and a childlike grin on her wicked features. But just before she took her next step in his demise, her attention was grabbed by a resonating explosion in the lift shaft. Three Mindys with no station markers emerged, but all three were armed to the teeth and took no time in unloading a barrage of attacks on the NH-17S. They over did it, yes, as a lot of the bridge itself was in shambles after the initial wave of attacks, but the target was terminated; there was very little of her left after the sudden assault. "Hirado-hei, Yamada-hei, secure the Taii!" A mousy, very gritty Neko voice commanded as she took up a position to check for others.

After falling to the ground as the pirate’s control over her tendrils crumbled with her body’s destruction, Nicholas heaved himself up against one of the many bridge stations. He hurt and frustrated that he was unable to destroy the pirate Neko, but was glad that someone was able to do the task. When Hirado and Yamada approached him as ordered, he waved them off, indicating that he was alive and relatively well. “Thank you, I owe you my life,” he told them as he examined the bruising where the tentacles had held him. “Is the rest of the ship secured?” the Taii asked.

The tiny Hei who was waved off stood straight at attention as the Taii thanked them and then she bowed once. "Yes, Sir, all of the enemy armor has been destroyed," she answered his question; her voice, though carrying a professional tone, was still very young and innocent. The other two began fanning out to see what bridge members they could revive and tend to immediately.

“Excellent,” Nicholas said as he stood up and turned back towards his place at the command console. “Get me a status update on Pride Wing,” he ordered to whoever could carry out the request, his thoughts immediately returning to Shizuka as he sat down and began to check the new prompts that had accumulated since he’d left his station. “Gold Wing as well. I trust that Kanno-shoi has completed his task,” he added as an obvious afterthought.

At the first Chiharu, the Fox T4 shuttle carrying Pride Wing burst through the cluster of weapon pods and just continued on. For the first time since they started their operation, the Pride Wing could see the battle fully all around. The second Chiharu was under a flurry of attacks from the combined Gold Wing and Obsidian Wing members, it looked like they were fighting a winning battle with numbers strong and many outside defenses in shambles. The Senbu looked worse for wear with the end of two Vampire ships poking out the MRB, the hull itself seemed beaten up, and floating all around were defense pods and a mess of debris from the battle and dead pilots free floating in their various power armors. Then, a sudden burst of explosions forced the shuttle to go faster as the Chiharu they escaped from was exploding with a series of blasts. The core itself was first, and then a chain reaction it set off many of the volatile internal systems, then on cue Stararcher flicked a switch and the four docked shuttles self-detonated and added the force of all the stored ordnances inside their cargo hold. It was a brilliant display of tactics; the goddess of battle was blown to sheds from the inside out.

Kuriko looked out into the sea of space, hoping against hope that the dead pilots weren't the Senbu's – that, in spite of all appearances, the ship had pulled through like it always had. But the Vampires sticking out, the defenses, the floating power armors, everything said the opposite. Everything said that if the Senbu were to pull through this, it would be at a great loss. The Chiharu exploding behind her only reminded her of the losses. "Endo-shosa," Kuriko reached out telepathically toward her CO out of fear that the captain hadn't escaped, out of the desire for someone to tell her it would be alright. "Endo-shosa, are you there?" Kuriko asked again, her voice shakier. It was true the Neko hadn't waited long at all between each transmission, but time to her seemed like it was lasting an eternity.

Rin held tight, the barrel of her weapon hot and the magazine falling off into the emptiness of space to become just another artifact of the conflict whose scale became apparent. As the heat and shockwaves from the sabotaged flagship emanated in all directions, the teal-haired soldier's jaw set itself and she said a silent prayer that the Shosa would be alright, just as she always had all her other times the Captain had led from the frontlines. If anything, the view ahead was just as bad, with the Senbu having its share of scars and fellow pilots floating cold and lifeless in their broken battle raiments. "This... is the true face of war," mumbled the Yamataian telepathically to no one in particular, obviously transmitting thoughts in an unguarded and random fashion.

Contact with the Shosa seemed to go unanswered, it seemed like the Lioness had taken the bad ending in her story. But then a moment later, something came over open communications. "Damn, that still only counts as one ship doesn't it?" Shizuka asked with an easing laugh, her signature now coming up on sensors as she flew on the wave of destruction, keeping one step ahead of the shrapnel as she burst full-out towards the Senbu.

Kuriko would have relaxed if it hadn't been for the insane situation that was right in front of her eyes. Instead, the Neko clenched her fist as she silently promised herself she wouldn't cry. The Neko couldn't keep her own promise and broke down quietly sobbing inside her power armor. This was the first major engagement that she had been in, the first engagement where the consequences were so visible to her. For now, the Heisho just wanted solitude and a chance to work out how she really felt about this.

Hoshitomo-hei was definitely relieved by the transmission. "Endo-shosa... I am beginning to wonder how just many lives you have left," transmitted the Yamataian to her commander. She was serious, but also it seemed she was trying to echo some of the Senbu leader's humor in the face of such a dire situation. The Pride Wing channel also seemed to be filling with some of Kuriko's sobs, prompting Rin to shift closer for support. "Please, hold together a little longer, Shifuda-heisho. There is a time and a place for everything." In the interim, Rin once again tried to establish a communications link to the Senbu, through her drone's visual systems to let the images sent back to the bridge of their status retreating from the debris spoke for themselves.

Kuriko didn't resist the support offered by Rin. In fact, the Heisho reached up to wipe the tears from her eyes, only to be reminded that she was in a power armor still. "Arigatou," Kuriko responded as she changed her focus from the battlefield before her to where Gold Wing was still engaged with the second Chiharu, wondering if they had managed to be as lucky as Pride Wing, and if not, who else was lost. "This... this is horrible," Kuriko almost whispered this on the comms, her voice a little more stressed from having sobbed a little.

On the Senbu, the Taii’s orders would take a few moments to be put into effect, but what members of the bridge crew could return to stations did and everyone's favorite mission operator went about carrying out the orders. Navi quickly got into contact with the Shosa and then Kanno-shoi, then after glancing over the panel she turned back to face up at Nick with a smile. "Everyone's okay, sir, the first Chiharu is downed and the Gold Wing is initiating the final phase of their operations and report only two casualties and four wounded." She was pleased to give that report, as everything seemed to be tying itself up now.

Nicholas smiled a weak, trembling smile; although they’d won, the Geshrin Taii didn’t have much left in him. All the ship had been through – all he had done, and much more than that felt, over the course of this mission had drained him mentally. “Do we have the ability to approach our returning wings?” he asked, his empty voice filled with a sort of fake strength that didn’t at all match how he’d sounded during the battle.

"Yes Sir, helm reports they are ready and able. We're moving now sir," Navi said as she took a moment to shift herself on her seat and began picking up some of the slack for the other mission operatives, taking over the Gold Wing front. A few other bridge crew members filtered into position, and the Senbu's administration slowly returned to working order. The wounded and dead were collected by volunteers from various sections that weren’t integral as well as the three from the 3rd Engineering Unit.

“Chouko-chui, you have the con,” Nicholas said, moving slowly towards the bloody and battle-marked lift. “Order Obsidian to continue patrols around the Senbu until they are relieved. Their commander still has much to atone for,” he told her as he walked with a slight limp apparent in his step as the adrenaline rush of battle wore off. “I am going to greet our pilots and assess their losses.”

"Yes, Sir..." The previously spunky blue haired twin was all but an empty shell, her voice and tone reflected that as clear as day. She then went about making sure the orders were sent down to the proper sections and carried out a full damage report as she went about the performing what protocol demanded after a mission such as this.

The Senbu itself began a slow approach towards the Pride Wing, as just before the shuttle began correcting trajectory to dock in the port bay, they could see another smaller explosion off in the distance. Then they could see, a cloud of power armor quickly making its way towards the Senbu before another series of smaller explosions linked up into a great finale of the other fallen goddess detonating into oblivion.

Maybe it was her harsh military upbringing or values, but even when faced with the scene before her, it seemed that Rin remained in the mind frame of the soldier at all times, accepting this as the toll of a hard fight. Perhaps this was a good thing; her grounding and calm, despite the fact the rush of killing still flowing through her veins and the anger that lurked beneath her features at the losses inflicted on the Senbu, she managed to be a sort of antithesis for the shaken Heisho in that moment. "Victory... sometimes demands a costly toll. But... focus on what you have left and not what you have lost." This was spoken solemnly, like she was repeating another axiom drilled into her from long ago. "The other path leads only to regret. And there's no room for that in this line of work."

Kuriko shuddered as the shadow of the Senbu overtook the small shuttle and its interior became clearly visible. The ship had been shot and torn to pieces, nothing like what she was when the Neko had first lain eyes upon her aboard the YSS Takemitsu. Kuriko couldn't help but feel partially responsible, though another part of her knew that there was no way that they could have moved any faster. Kuriko merely shook her head in disagreement with Rin. "Today… Heh, today I have how many fewer sisters?" Kuriko asked rhetorically. She agreed with the second half of Rin's statement though, even if she didn't want to. There were so many things Kuriko wanted to say, felt she needed to say, but she couldn't find the words to express them. Instead, the Neko sat staring sadly at the battle-scarred interior of the Senbu.

Even Rin had to give pause as her helmet's HUD displayed the visual of the wrecked repair bay before them as the shuttle made for a landing, the shambles of not one, but two Vampires jammed inside, violently telling of the intense conflict they missed back at the mother ship. She had wished she could've been here defending the vessel, but orders were orders after all, and as some of the emotions triggered by the power armor combat began to settle, her thoughts briefly turned to Shin in the shuttle, not answering the Heisho's statement directly.

At this point the shuttle set down in an open space on the Senbu’s deck and a group of engineers rushed to tend to the ship and the crew onboard. Everyone filtered out, Pride Wing members as well as Stararcher were all ordered to spend some time in the med bay, even if they said they weren’t wounded; there was a mandatory order for them to be completely checked out. As for Shin, he'd be spending the next few hours in a hemosynthesis tube to say the least. The brave loudmouth of the Pride Wing was in critical condition but luckily still alive. The Shosa herself took a few more minutes to arrive on the deck, but she did soon after the shuttle and touched down in her Mindy, quickly to remove her helmet and take a long deep breath of the Senbu's air before heaving a great sigh.

Kuriko slid off of the top of the shuttle and started to slide out of her armor. It didn't even matter to the Heisho now that she was naked; a holographic towel appeared around her as she padded back toward the medbay for a checkup, as was ordered. The checkup was quick and simple, which is what Kuriko wanted. The Heisho walked back to her quarters silently, her body and mind felt beaten, and her face looked miserable. At least they had real towels in the med bay though, that was perhaps her one comfort.

Nicholas would greet the members of Pride Wing when they arrived, bowing more deeply to them than usual as he thanked them for their service. He stayed at attention, waiting for the Shosa to arrive, approaching her when she did as she removed her helmet. “I am glad that your mission was successful, Endo-shosa,” he told her, his green eyes as weary as his voice. He managed a genuine smile as he spoke; it was all he could do to right now to express how overjoyed he was to see the Nekovalkyrja captain. “Allow me to apologize now for the damage incurred while you were away.”

The unnamed Mindy housing Rin released its grip from the shuttle at last; however the power in her weapons systems lingered despite the direct orders as she cast a glance at the Vampire wreckage not far away. Once she was assured it was sanitized of hostiles, she finally went about doffing the armor in the appropriate rack and wrapping the Yukata that was still laying by her locker back around her ivory-skinned form for modesty. Having dried out in the interim, it was almost instantly soaked with the sweat from her massive combat exertions, but she tried to ignore it and return the bow from the Taii with dignity.

Shizuka smiled kindly as she set eyes on the Taii. "Don't worry about it, any damage here can be repaired," she said softly as she looked around and sighed once more. "I'm just glad everything's in once piece, I'm sorry for any damage I caused..." she paused as she approached him and pressed an armored finger to his chest above where his heart should be, "...here." With that she looked back up into his eyes with a calm, tired look in her own. She seemed remorseful for her actions, but somehow proud of the outcome nonetheless. It looked like there was nothing more that she wanted in that moment but to be in his presence, which would be understandable after the turmoil she had faced as well.

Rin lingered only long enough to pay the proper respects to both her commanding officers and the other wing mates, though the sight of Shizuka and Nicholas was not entirely missed by the Hei before she took her leave to the medical bay. "I am glad you are well, Saiga-taii. If you'll excuse me, I will leave you to your... debriefing," added Rin with a curt bow, knowing full well that this was going to turn into another one of those moments. She had her own place to be, watching a certain other male crewmember who had now earned himself some time in the hemo tank... the irony of the situation was certainly humorous.

“Not at all, Shizuka,” Nicholas replied as enthusiastically as he could. He paused for a moment, searching for what to say; what to tell her. “It did hurt, having to worry about you,” he began, avoiding eye contact with the Shosa – it went against everything he was taught to admit overt weakness. “I wanted to come down here and tell you that I should be transferred off of your ship, that you distracted too far from my duty to the Empire,” he said as he turned away from her, lowering his head in contemplation before turning back to face her. “And you do distract me from my duty to the Empire. There will be no happy ending for us, Shizuka,” he stated flatly, gazing at her with his tired eyes. “However, I realized that my concern for you gives me more than just an Empire to fight for, so I will relish every moment that I can remain in your company. Thank you, Shosa,” he said, bowing deeply to his commander.

She took a moment to listen to him, her lips parting in awe of what he had just admitted and said to her. Fighting back tears she pouted cutely. "Oh, Nick..." Shizuka said softy with a brighter tone as she wrapped her arms around his waist and pulled him close so she could rest her small Neko head on his chest and nuzzled into him for a moment, remaining silent as she shown her own vulnerability to him in the need to hold him so close. She didn't speak for a few good moments, just basking in his warmth and openness. Right now was enough for her.

The Taii stood with her, returning her embrace for what seemed like forever. Then, he realized that they were in the middle of Pride Wing’s power armor bay and that she was still wearing her power armor and suddenly felt entirely awkward. “So… ah… Shosa…” Nicholas stammered. “Perhaps it would be prudent to… ah… review the battle,” he said, trying to sound as proper and official as he could to any passing personnel, even as he still held the Shosa.
