Yesterday I linked the site on another site and I was asked if our timeline was sparse because the site/RP sucked. Although this was pretty blunt of the guy, he has a point about the timeline being sparse.

Today Tom was asking me about the timeline and history for the purposes of writing Admiral Davis memoirs, and I didn't have a lot to work with.

So here's what I'm thinking: The timeline needs a big retcon. An expansion pack, if you will. This would go great with the upcoming YE 35 theme the staff has planned in which exploration and discovery and independent GMing are encouraged.

So I'm asking you, my fellow GMs, and also the general membership:

1. What sort of events do you want us to add to SARP history?
2. What are your biggest questions about the SARP's past?
3. Are you interested in old tech (vehicles and such)?

I at least want to get the last hundred years or so up to a workable level for older characters to reference. And a general idea of the history before that.
 
I'd like to know more about the origins of those older characters: Uesu and Xenn, for instance.

Getting down a general "where they came from" would be good. Did Nepleslia eventually spew up colonists to Yamatai, or did they come from elsewhere?

I don't know if we need a retcon ... we just need to detail what we don't have.

Honestly I'd like a summary of past rps in chronological order. I know its a tall order but I think it's feasible to at last have the major plots on the timeline. Also I believe the summaries should be written by the GM.

Why the Neps and Yamataians don't get along better. Also general origin stories all in one place. Its hard to find these things since they are spread out through-out the wiki. I'd be satisfied with just a central directory with links if need be.

Only if its important for current plots or the story line of old plots.
 
One of the biggest questions I have is related to How humanity ended up in this part of the galaxy. Plague, Overpopulation, Dwindling Resources, Wars, Pollution, Exploration, An Accident?
 
While we're doing this, I also want to get "places your character can be from" on the character creation guides.

Keep the suggestions coming! I'm headed up to my sister's wedding this morning but I'll start work after I get back.
 
Well there is some of the information all glomped in the pre-history. We should probably break that down and flesh it out. Also going through the archived forums for significant SARP events and making sure they get annotated would be good too.

Actually, that's the same timeline it was when the OP was posted. We still need history expansion pretty badly.
 
I think we could use an ancient history section as well to give some sense of scale for how many hundreds or thousands of years ago places like nepleslia and Yamatai were colonized.
 
Like this? Admittedly, it could use some BYE dates thrown in parentheses somewhere, and maybe some fleshed out pages for some of the events and groups mentioned.
