OOC Fort Ready Discussion Thread

The current exercise is designed to be a bit of a head fake for the students, highlighting how difficult it can be to protect a person in a warzone. You can blame a certain Eucharis episode for this idea. <,<;

If you need more examples of Eucharis missions to run as practice, I can help you out there. Seeing as I'm one of the older Eucharis players.

Yeah, but in the Marines at least, if no one's bitchin', the Sergeant knows something's wrong. :p

edit: Also, guys, lets try and pick up the pace, if you would. I think we'd all prefer it if things started moving a bit faster, and now that Jimmy and me are on the same page, they actually can.

Well, i also factored in the Japanese/Chinese social norm of not complaining in front of your superiors/elders. If someone is higher than you in the social hierarchy, you stay silent about what you don't like.

For example, I hate barley water but my grand-aunt loves it and serves it to her guests. When I visited her over the summer, i had to down the stuff without a complaint.

Jimmy is largely indisposed until the weekend. -_-

Y'all have that long to give your questions, comments or death threats before we move to the fun bits.

Sorry I've been absent for a while, work has been kinda hellish the last few days...I'm just glad the Internet is still here. Ah, sweet, sweet Internet... :)

My apologies, Sigma, but we're gonna temporarily be the 'bad guys'. So kick-start your inner Dr. Evil and start being sneaky, or devious, or something...like this guy! ->

I know I promised a post on the weekend, and I have failed to deliver. I can only say that this was for very strong personal reasons. Hopefully tomorrow will settle down enough for me to get some postage in.

I'm sorry to have kept you all waiting.

Welllllll...stink.

Anyone have any tactical advice? I'm going blank on how to play this...do y'all want to stick close and try to bust our way to the goal, or split up? Do the NH-29 series have useful holographics and camouflage or does the other team have counters to that?

It's still strange: The new posts in the Fort Ready subforum don't show up in the "View Active Topics" list, which is why I don't really keep up very well. Can someone find someone who can investigate that? I've brought it up before but I keep getting ignored. So, yeah...

If that can be fixed by someone, somewhere, at sometime (preferably soon), that'd be appreciated.

What I do is sign up for email notification for the RP thread itself.

EDIT: As far as tactics go, this actually seems to be very similar to my competitive paintball games with only the addition of a VIP. Essentially, there's a few ways to run this.

Elimination: We don't focus on getting the runner to the objective but instead plan on destroying the enemy force. Runner remains protected but still in some danger since she's near the fighting.

Two Group Deception: One large force delays and pins the Border Control whilst the runner and a couple escorts sneak and dash towards where-ever they need to go.

Modified Group Deception: Main force delays and pins as above. A decoy runner leaves first, in sight of the Border Control, makes them think they're the real group and then lead them (or a part of the Border control) away from the drug runners. Whilst the main drug runner and border control groups are slugging it out and the decoy has led some border control away, the real runner and escorts sneak away to the objective.

One of the group deception plans seems best to me but if anyone else has better ideas, please share.

Missing, I'll try to talk to some of the mods about it as soon as possible. I have no real power as far as the forum structure goes.

Sigma, my only suggestion can be that you perhaps discuss this with the team ICly as well. :)

Fifteen students in the class, so eight on Drug Runners, seven on Border Control. I had to go all the way back to the start of the class for that number. -_-

Oh yeah, update. I've finished uni for the semester, so I'm free for roughly three months, lets make the most of it. We'll probably do a few more posts of planning before we get started on the fun bits. ;)
