What do you call yourself? John

How'd you find Star Army? I saw an XCOM 2 mod on Steam and decided to see what it was all about.

What interested you in joining? The well-developed universe. That, and I love text-based RP, sci-fi, and anime, so it's a win-win-win... win?

Ever done this text-based roleplaying thing before? Started text-based RP in 1998ish on AOL, then stopped for a bit around 2005(high school graduation). Started again last year because I missed it.

Any previous experiences you want to share? Umm.. nope, not really? Dunno what goes here..

Do you prefer:
  • Playing male, female, or other-gendered characters? Mostly male or neuter(like a robot), rarely female. Strictly hetero.
  • Spontaneous or planned RP? Both can be fun, although I prefer a little bit of planning.
  • Military or civilian characters? Probably military or ex-military.
  • Humans, androids, anthros, or aliens? Human, android, or alien.
  • Being on a starship or being on a planet? Mostly on ship, kinda like Star Trek if you know what I mean.
  • Roleplay via forum posts or in real-time? Forum post. I'm a little slow with typing.
On a scale of 1 to 3, what's your preferred level of these in your RP:

What's something cool you'd love to RP? A space cowboy or detective of some sort maybe?
 
Wow! You've been around a while in terms of online RP. Did you ever RP on Yahoo! Chat back in the day, or did you do Star Trek PBEMs or was it more along the lines of RP forums? Although Star Army was very small at the time, we were around as far back as 2002 (2000 for some elements) so it sounds like we developed interest in RP at similar times. I graduated in 2001 and I'm a big fan of sci-fi anime, Star Trek, and text RP too. It's good to meet you!

For space cowboys, our setting has a lot of frontier areas that are sparsely populated (and could use more development) and also a lot of independent worlds (some of which are in the main factions' back yards, and some that are out in the middle of nowhere) -- these are places where the law is not overly present, making them a sort of space wild west. See the Guide to Independent Characters for some examples and ideas.
 
No, never Yahoo. Mostly in chat on AOL back then with some friends. It was an Animorphs RP haha. Sometimes I went into RhyDin or Wheel of Time RPs. I actually haven't done much sci-fi RP. Definitely nothing this well organized. I have done some forum based ones on RPNation.

That sounds pretty interesting. I'm browsing the wiki for more info before I decide what kind of character I want to make. I am thinking I would lean towards a bounty hunter, but I might want to start out with a Star Army character until I get the hang of this. I'm not really sure how to start. I'm a little overwhelmed by the possibilities. I was thinking some sort of space marine to start.
