In YE 30, the YSS Elfin Princess scouted the southern side of the Ayumi Nebula and discovered an inhabited world. To date, first contact has not been made despite the observed technology to detect, travel to, and contact Yamatai if they so felt like it.

First Contact hasn't been made in nine standard years. While I admire Yamatai's policies of allowing first contact species to make contact when they are ready, the system in question was discovered during the middle of the First Mishhuvurthyar war.

While it's possible that the colony survived, the fact that no one has been out there for nine standard years is an embarassment to the scientific community of the Kikyou Sector. There have been no surveys or communications intercepts. Conversely, the valuable resources and development of the planet have not been explored.

I would like to gather a survey and investigative team to resurvey and make contact with the colony of HX-14.

My idea was to do a Serenity/Pandorum style rapid evolution or adaptation thing in the initial colonization that caused a celestial event, possibly a five year magnetic storm cycle knocking out most major technology to kill off the 3.3 billion inhabitants at some point in the last ten standard years. Or that they have adapted to the Mishhu invaders and started treating them as prey. The possibilities are endless.
 
Who wants to run it?

Asterian Crown? Star Army Expiditionary Fleet? Free Company? Hell, a joint operation could be interesting. The people involved will determine the organization.
 
That is not Asterian territory, though, oddly enough. I have an idea maybe I can catch you on discord.
 
Plot notes!

Summary: When Thorn Ironhart is contracted by the Mitsuya No Akuto to scout HX-14 for potentially valuable resources and habitability, she finds the colony eliminated, with survivors in a Recovery era post apocalypse. Population drop from 3.3 billion to 10, 000 or less

Scope: This plot will affect the planet it is on, and maybe, later on, the nation of Asteria’s interest in the area.

Plot Points:

1) Part 1: First Contact a Decade Late
a) Thorn, having extricated herself from the USO and her responsibilities there, is offered a temporary charter for stellar prospecting
b) Exploration of the system begins, and an unexpected entity is discovered. This could happen with several player ships or NPCs
c) First Contact begins and legalese begins

GM Notes:

HX-14 was originally scouted by the YSS Elfin Princess in YE30. It was never heard from again.

Presumably, it was invaded by SMX forces not long after, and the 3.3 billion inhabitants killed. However, there were survivors. Due to a rapid adaptation virus used to optimize the population for their environment, the survivors of the initial Mishhu invasion changed. Their society knocked back to the stone age, they adapted well enough to actively hunt Mishhuvithyar as prey animals.

It is possible that the Elfin Princess did not make or attempt first contact specifically to avoid Mishhu discovery. With this successful, they did not know that an electromagnetic storm had led to the death of the populace five years earlier.

Thorn's charter for stellar prospecting was in the area of Asura for Viscount Katashi, though he did specifically mention the frontier. As of this date, Sun. 19 of November, 2017, the charter has not been written or finalized, though implications of the responsibilities are are in the discussion phase.

@paladinrpg and @HandOfChaos have shown interest, with Hand showing it pending a character.

@Wes and @Gallant I would like to apply for GM status to continue forward with the idea and generate more detailed plot notes under more recognized formats.

Well, to be fair, you and I have dealt with each other in NTSE before, and you've seen some of my work on the site. While my RP skill is, as I would put it, average, I will brag that I do have a certain creative spark.
 
The charter Thorn is carrying as a Knight is enough to survey the planet on behalf of Asteria.
