I guess I should probably post something.

Hiya! I'm new (or, at least I was yesterday). I joined the Yamataian Star Army cause I kinda have a thing for neko girls. I wasn't aware of the 18+ threads when I first joined. However, that's definitely an added bonus.

Greetings and welcome. Let me know if I can answer questions for you. What's the plan? You going to join an existing RP subforum, or make a thread in open RP?

Hello Samael, Welcome to SARP. Nice to see another new face. As Wes said, if there is anything we can do to help. Don't hesitate to ask.

What is this Fort Ready I keep reading about? It seems like a tutorial for Star Army that might be useful for new players. If so, is it still active?

Fort Ready was a tutorial plot for the Star Army of Yamatai specifically, which was started back in 2007, when I was new. It lasted up until about 2012, going through about six different Game Masters before finally being closed. However, if there is enough desire amongst new players for a good tutorial plot, there might be a GM willing to pick it up again.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of active plots that are newbie friendly at the moment. What are the requirements for one to start his own plot? Is there a minimum member count to open?

It's highly recommended (if not outright expected) that you spend several months to a year as a player first. Take the time to get familiar with the setting, or get very well-versed in one particular aspect that most interests you. Not only will you make it easier on yourself if you do eventually decide to start your own plot, but you'll be able to provide a much more fulfilling experience for your players as well.

Most of the GMs here are very friendly towards new players, and are more than happy to help you get started. If you see a plot that interests you, send a message to its GM and ask for more information, or for some help in getting started. The list of active plots has a history of being out of date from time to time, so if you see one listed as "full," it may not hurt to ask anyway. You never know: a slot may have just opened up. And if you are turned down, don't fret! Just move on to your next choice. :)

How does being a Star Army soldier work anyway? Do I get time off? Are there vacation periods or holidays? Or, should I just assume the Star Army owns me like some piece of property?

Being a Star Army soldier works like being a soldier in the real world, I would say. When the ship is on mission you do your duty while you're on duty or even, if needs be, while you're not on duty. But when the ship returns to base the soldiers get their shore leave and certainly have the right to go on vacation for some time. A soldier works for his army but he's not it's slave. Of cause that doesn't mean he wouldn't need to follow orders.

PS: Almost forgot: Welcome aboard! :)

What are the requirements for one to start his own plot?
While there are some requirements to start a plot with its own subforum (see Apply to Become a GM), all plots start as Open RP threads. That means there's no longer any barriers to entry. That said, if you're considering making an RP thread, it'd be a good idea to propose it first as an interest check in the OOC forum, which will help you gauge interest and collect players for your thread.

Ketsurui Zaibatsu is the Ketsurui Clan's industrial conglomerate; it includes Ketsurui Fleet Yards, Kessaku Systems, production of the Nekovalkyrja, and the Zaibatsu's manufacturing centers. The Ketsurui Zaibatsu is primarily concerned with the production of goods for the Star Army of Yamatai and only rarely competes directly with other corporations.
I'm curious.
1. Who exactly determines whether or not Nekovalkyrja are produced?
2. Were they ever for sale to the general public?
3. How much would a NPC version of one cost?

Edit: Also, how do those NH-32 armors work? Will they only be available for nekos? Or, could Minkans/humans use them as well? Sam just destroyed his power armor and may be needing a replacement. Maybe he could test one of the prototype NH-32s? It might be funny to have him temporary transfer into one of those armors for a combat situation.

Okay,

1. You determine when you make your background. Although when making a Neko, the easiest is to have them manufactured, because then you do not need much background.
2. No, Nekovalkyrja bodies are not sold. The only way a civilian could get one is to enlist in the SAOY, and request an Upgrade. Though these days a civilian would be probably better served by upgrading to a Minkan form and then enlist.
3. You can not buy a body.

The NH-32 is not an approved technology, so you can not have one.

They are not slaves, so you can't purchase them. A starting character has 3,000 KS that they can buy extra stuff.

Ichi is a Star Army soldier who is assigned as a personal assistant assigned to Dakura on the Soyokaze. She's not properly

The only faction with slavery, that I know of, is the Lorath.

Basically, as a rule of thumb, anything dangerous on Yamatai is either military or illegal.

Hello, let me answer your questions:

1. The Star Army of Yamatai determines the production of Nekovalkyrja produced, so this probably would ultimately fall to its commander, Ketsurui Yui. For example, Yui ordered the production of over 4 million new Nekovalkyrja in the last year, in anticipation of unspecified ground wars.
2. Yes, Nekovalkyrja and Nekovalkyrja bodies were previously sold as products during the time that Yamatai allowed slavery. This was years ago.
3. Because Nekovalkyrja have been given the rights of a species, and because slavery was abolished, they are no longer available for sale. There are a number of other semi-sapient assistant androids available on the market, though, such as the ones Emrys makes.

Currently, the only ways to get a Nekovalkyrja body are to be born as a Nekovalkyrja, or to get a (free) transfer into one while serving in the Star Army of Yamatai or certain government agencies (the YSA, etc).

The NH-32 is an experimental body type, not an armor.

Ichi is a custom robot built by Dakura, she's not a commercially available model.

Here's some options:
  1. Novacorp Assistant Android (old/used) - 7500 KS or less
  2. Emrys Servant Android - Starting at 5000 KS new
You could custom make something, too, if your character has the skills or know someone who does.
