What do you call yourself?

Don't care. I'll call myself whatever others call me. I'm known as Archduke, Nick, Bird Girl at one point, sometimes Trap by certain people, somma yas might've seen Arbs call me Eve, whatever. If it ain't an insult, I don't care what you call me.

(Edit: Honestly? Insults are fine, too, as long as they're somewhat funny.)

How'd you find Star Army?

I guess you could say a little birdie told me.

What interested you in joining?

Potential. Y'all seem well versed, and as someone who plans to write on the side of whatever I end up doing, I figure I'll need the experience.

Ever done this text-based roleplaying thing before?

Ingame RP, yes. Discord RP, less so, but yes. Forum- no. I've only ever been part of one RP thread and the person it was with stopped responding to it one day. Understandably so, but still.

Any previous experiences you want to share?

I've only ever roleplayed in two places: once was on Roblox like ten years ago, but that hardly counts. The other was more recent: I've been part of this server in a game that has a (far less than ideal) place to RP for the past year (and ongoing). Looking for some structure.

Now for the questionnaire!
Do you prefer:

  • Playing male, female, or other-gendered characters? Typically I've leaned towards female, but both ideas I have right now are males.
  • Spontaneous or planned RP? Only have real experience in spontaneous, but I've long thought the idea of a planned RP could be amazing.
  • Military or civilian characters? Haven't roleplayed military before. I'd like to, but after the past few days wikidiving, I'm still thinking it'll be quite something to get used to. Like I said, i'm not used to too much structure. Looking forward to it, though.
  • Humans, androids, anthros, or aliens? Humans are cool and all, but I often seem to prefer humans+ (like Elysians). Specifically wings. That considered aliens?
  • Being on a starship or being on a planet? Haven't done starship RP before, seems cool. Not sure how it'd be tremendously different than, say, working in a factory on a planet or whatever. We'll see.
  • Roleplay via forum posts or in real-time? Like previously stated, I don't have much experience for forum posts. I like the quickness of real-time, but it doesn't allow too much detail. We'll see.
They call people like me "newbs" for a reason, right? ;)

On a scale of 1 to 3, what's your preferred level of these in your RP:

  • Language: 3
  • Violence: 2
  • Sexuality: 1
What's something cool you'd love to RP?

Gotta get me a couple-a those Elysians, man. I'm a slut for The Wing People.
Also there's a lot of information to know. There's more stuff to learn on a wiki page here than there is on some real world history, say, (looks up a random place) Scotland or something.
Which kinda sucks for me because I want to know it all.

Hiiiiii!! ^^/
(I'm still sorry about ditching that thread, by the way...)

If that thread didn't die it'd be pretty close to the normal stuff of SARP, although the GMs here are better than I was. At the very least you'll find a lot of structure around here, though some of it has aged a bit so keeping the wiki up to date is a sort of side "job" for some people :p

I will say, being on a starship is typically more like having a constantly changing setting from visiting different planes and the like, as opposed to the idea of your characters "getting used to" the setting for most of the plots that happen with them. Other than that, yeah they're about the same ^^

Considering that you have more experience in real-time RP, you might be more comfortable in a plot that has a lot of "JPs" (Joint Posts, written by multiple people together then posted as one big thing), such as the ones @Legix usually runs. Alternatively, the Task Force Inquisition hosted by @paladinrpg and @Ethereal (Yes, two GMs)is just starting up and is bound to be interesting!

If you do want to be in a more civilian-focused plot, @FrostJaeger is hosting Ascension, a political plot that's entirely about and by Elysians. It's supposed to be our way of starting a series of changes for Elysia and make it... Well, generally suck less x3 (Speaking of Elysians, I have so many of them o .o)

Greetings and welcome! There is indeed a lot to learn, more than a decade worth, so don't try to do it all at once and make your head explode messily... find the thing that piques your interest and hone in on it.

Also, Arbs is too kind with a plug for my Inquisition plot.

Ah yeah, Ascension and Inquisition are both things I looked at a bit. Of course, I read a bit more of Ascension- reading about 4 posts goes by quicker than reading about 4 pages of posts (or however long it is).

I got cool plots like that one person said (@Arbitrated). I do have one that could fit for you if you were interested in being in a Freespacer plot. It'd be Energized Dunes. My other plots are only for 18+, unfortunately, but I definitely work with new players to help 'em settle in and pick through the wiki. So you can still ask for help, if needed =3=/
