So this laminate stuff is equivalent to Depleted Uranium?
 
It's a nanophase laminate, meaning that it can take more of a beating than normal composites. The downside to that is that damage from energy weapons has a more drastic effect on performance.

EDIT: Thinking about it, I lowered the DR by 1. Planes and cars don't need the armored protection of a heavy tank.
