Sasaki Iaso was seated at his desk in the Geshrinari Shipyards office. He was reviewing the performance and sales figures for the quarter. While he was not involved in management, he liked to keep abreast of how the corporation was doing. After all his future depended on the corporations future.

Tanja Dunst stepped off of a public vessel onto the Amatsu-Nova station, she had recently left her home world in search of adventure and she was confident that today would be the beginning of that adventure. She looked around a moment collecting herself and then making sure she was dressed appropriately, a blue blouse some khaki pants and opened toed flats were not her usual style but she wanted to look presentable. After she was sure she was presentable she headed towards Geshrinari Shipyards office to see what they could do for her. Once inside she looked about to see who was there and who she should probably speak to.

Iaso dismissed the volumetric display that he had up when he saw a person come into the office. Folks coming into his office was not unusual but an Abwheran Nightwalker was definitely not usual. 'What is she doing here? Is she lost and looking for directions.' the brown haired, brown eyed Yamataian wondered.

Standing up he said, "Hello Welcome to Geshrinary Shipyards Sales office. My name is Sasaki Iaso, how may I be of service to you."

If the Abwehran seemed a rarity before that idea was only cemented as she walked over to Iaso's desk, a black furred tail swaying some behind her and just barely visible from his perspective.

She offered him a smile and then spoke up "Yes, I am Tanja Dunst and I have heard that this company makes great ships. I was interested in working out a deal for such a ship with you."

'Interesting,' he thought. "Certainly Miss Dunst." He replied and pulled a chair out by his desk, "Kindly take a seat." he said motioning to the chair. He then walked around to the other side of the desk, and pulled up a volumetric display that he positioned so both would be able to view it. "So did you have a particular type of ship in mind or would you like to peruse our catalog?" He inquired.

Tanja moved to the seat and sat down, wrapping her tail around her waist so she didn't have to sit on the edge of the chair. "Well I never took a look at your catalog, but I do plan on starting out with mining and salvaging. It is something I know how to do and it pays decently, so a ship meant for that would be a good start."

"Well, mining and salvaging are very similar. The ship requirements would be mostly the same. To that end I would suggest the Henkei-Class Mining variant. The Ge-Y1-4a Prospector, which also has the advantage of being customizable to meet the clients needs." He said and the image of the ship appeared with the ships stats displayed next to. Isao let Tanja review the information.

The Abwehran woman looked over the volumetric display with a careful eye, she had experience with a few starships, not enough to tell a good one from a great one at glance, but she could identify a bad one and this fortunately did not look like such. "You said this was customizable?" She seemed interested in hearing about that and whether it was just a sales pitch or if it meant more.

"Yes, technically all of the Henkei shops can be modified. Because the sections on either side of the main hull are modules. So they can be swapped. For example they might decide that they want a larger cargo capacity because they intend to do speculative trade as well as prospecting. "Well you remove one of the Ge-Y1-M3103 mining modules and replace it with a Ge-Y1-M3100 cargo on. Plus the default weapons for the Henkei can be swapped out." His hand moved over the panel on his desk and the volumetric display started showing various configurations as it swapped out modules and turrets.

"I see." Tanja replied a bit fascinated by the concept. "Then this ship would be something that could be used for many different purposes and if I want something different later I can simply refit it with different modules and not have to buy an entirely new ship?" She watched him alter the display rather interested in the weapons configurations, she did not like to fight but if she was out there as an independent ship she would need to protect herself.

"Exactly it is one of the features that makes the Henkei a popular design. And obviously we can customize the interior to meet the customer's needs as well. The design in fact has a space that is left unconfigured to allow the customer to use it how they see fit on the lower deck." Isao answered. "And the Corporation offers reasonable financing to our customers who need it."

She nodded in response, taking everything in and using a moment to think. "Can this ship be operated by a single individual? While I do plan on taking in a small crew, at this time I am solo, so there is only so much I can do on my own."

"Yes, the ship can be operated by a single person. Obviously that can make things a bit hectic, but then we can also offer drones as part of the customization. The EM-J4 MARI series are specifically designed for maintenance, or if you like there is the EM-J2-1a Geboku Android can be a good choice." Isao offered.

"I was unaware that you offered drones. I did not even consider that option...can you elaborate some the use of your models?" Tanja had become rather interested, drone usage had not crossed her mind before, she had always strongly considered doing the work herself but in this situation overworking herself by handling a ship alone was of no benefit.

"Well the MARI are purely designed to perform routine maintenance and repairs with little to no supervision. The EM-J2 is more versatile, it can obviously perform maintenance and repair, but it can also interact with people and learn a wide range of skills." Isao answered.

"Well if I were to get a drone of some kind then I might as well have something capable of guarding my ship while I am away. It would also help if I have something to take care of things if for whatever reason I can not, like sickness or injury. I assume that is out of the range of capability of the MARI type drones?" She looked over the display once more, taking into the ship's features. The last thing she wanted was for her adventure to be paused prematurely because she was sick, or her ship was stolen.

"The MARI can take of the ship, but it is not really equipped for security. The EM-J2 can, since its human form so it can use any item that a human can. We use some of the basic model to augment our corporate security personnel." Isao replied.

Tanja smirked at hearing that, liking the sound of that. "If it can operate at the same capacity as a humanoid then that would be very beneficial, in fact having one would be preferred. I assume though that none of this is cheap."

"Cheap is always a matter of perspective. It depends on ones perspective, and resources. But we pride ourselves of finding creative ways to help the buyer. As I mentioned earlier we have financing, we even can offer a work to own plan for clients."

"Financing might be difficult, since I do not know how much I am going to be making yet, but work to own? How would that be handled?" She asked with an interested tone.

"To put it simply. We supply you with a ship, in this case a prospector. We pay you a salary, and you earn a percentage of what you bring in ore. The higher value and quality of the ore the better the percentage is. Naturally we take care of routine maintenance, but expenses such as repairs that happen while you are working can be added to your balance. That would only happen if you were culpable." Isao said with a smile.

"I see..that sounds like a reasonable deal. The more I bring in the faster the dept it paid off as well, correct?" She smirked, obviously rather confident in her ability to get the job done.

"Exactly, we find the percentage to be a very effective motivation. Shall we see about putting together a proposal?"

"Yes a pay to own contract seems to be in my best interest." She smiled and adjusted herself in the chair just a little forward to give off a more serious impression. "So first the details of what exactly I will be purchasing."

"Exactly, so you expressed interest in the Ge-Y1-4a - "Henkei" Prospector, so we can start with that. Now do you want to keep it standard with two mining modules? And as for the weapons there is no cost for swapping with other standard ones."

"Well I suppose that would depend on where you will have me working. If it is far away I'd prefer to take a cargo module to keep trips to a minimum, but if it's close by I can handle using two of the mining modules to get things done more quickly."

"Well, you happen to be sitting in one of our largest mining operations. The Kohana Cloud is owned by the Corporation and so you would be in system unless you decide to go speculating."

"I do not have enough resources to go out and look for new claims yet. So I will stay in this sector and get used to the ship while I do some research. At that point I might be able to afford a new module on my own."

"Now as to drones, I would suggest that we equip you with a EM-J4-2a MARI and a EM-J2-1a Geboku. To help with maintaining the ship, and helping with operation."

"Both of them? Hmm I suppose that makes sense. How much are we looking at for them together? And I assume the Geboku does not come outfitted with any weapons?"

"No, the Geboku does not feature internal weapons, but there are plenty of shops where you can purchase weapons. Now, one moment. Standard version of the ship, adding the drones, and then the 10% Work to Own discount. That would come to 31,815 KS, or if you like we have a recently reclaimed Prospector from a client who defaulted. Fully serviced and operational, you could have that with the drones for 28,815 KS."

"Five grand cheaper..is there anything wrong with it, or is it just mileage?" She is a little worried about the price drop, not suspicious, but life has taught her to double check everything just to make sure.

"Strictly Standard policy ma'am. When we reclaim a ship we obviously can not sell it as new so we take 10% off price after inspecting the ship and ensuring that she is fully operational. And just as we do with a new ship sale, the ship will be fully fueled and serviced. "

"Then I have no real reason not to accept the recently reclaimed ship it will make things easier for me. Now you mentioned a customizable interior on the ship as well. Is that the standard changing of appliances and such?"

"Actually it means two things, yes. You can swap out the amenities in the galley. But it also means that the space on the lower deck near the airlock that you can use for whatever purpose you want."

"Do you have any specific designs you offer for that space,or can it be whatever you can think of?" Her tail moved around a bit eagerly as she tried to keep herself contained and professional.

"We have no specific designs since it is after all customer space. Some folks use it as a recreational area, or a fitness room. I heard of one owner who built a small lab for analyzing life forms. The ones who use it as a recreation area, normally haul passengers and want to give them something to do to pass the time. The fitness room concept is often used on Patrol ships."

"I see, so it is after market. I will handle that then. As for the amenities are they set up for prolonged living on the ship? Or did the previous owner change them?"

"The amenities are the standard ones. The galley has a walk in freezer, and a refrigerator. Non-perishables would be stored on the shelves and obviously you could store more in the hold. The life support is designed to handle up to 50 people with water and air, so you shouldn't have any problem there."

"That will work, what about the lighting though? I can not take bright light, so having adjustable or dim lighting would be appreciated." She gestured to the goggles that were currently over her eyes, the place was not so bright as to blind her but it would be agitating to keep them off.

Isao smiled, "The only maintenance expense you will have is replacing the filters to the life support. Which you can always carry spares. As for lighting, you can program the area to whatever intensity you prefer. Or allow any passengers to do so in their cabins. The computer can dim or brighten on your command."

"I see that will be useful on the trip." She paused a moment to think and then nodded "I suppose that is all for the ship next I suppose is that you mentioned someone defaulted. What will my payment schedule be like?"

"Well the person who defaulted was on a loan. Since you are going with the Work to Own, every time you drop off a load of ore, you can make a payment. Your minimum payment is 500 KS a month which is a five year contract. But find valuable ores and refine them well and you could pay that off much faster. Plus there are always other ways you can pick up money. Taking a group of passengers to another star system can make some quick cash. And of course salvage can always be lucrative."

"500KS a month sounds reasonable. I shouldn't have any real problems paying that off." She shifts again and strokes her chin. "So a percentage of what I bring back is given to me as a salary, and then I can decide if I want to pay off some of my debt of keep it and wait till next time, as long as I pay at least 500 a month?"

"Actually you receive a small salary as well as the percentage. That way if after a run that is not very productive you have some spending cash to use for shopping, going to a restaurant etc. Also you can opt to make extra payments. If you for example plan to try going somewhere to find better or exploit a business opportunity, you could opt to prepay for say three months. And then you don't have to make a payment until the fourth. Your salary comes to 10KS a day. And only is drawn while you are working here in the Kohana Cloud gathering ore."

"Interesting..your company is very generous with how it deals with those wishing to acquire a ship." She smiled she had a lot of breathing room like this and even though it wouldn't start as the greatest adventure, she would have some reliable work to do.

"It is a win-win situation. We get the ore we need with minimal expense, and you get a ship and cash in your pocket. So shall I draw up the paperwork?" Isao asked.

"Yes, please do." Tanja replied.

Isao pressed a button and several forms started being ejected from the desk. He gathered them and after ensuring that all the necessary forms were there placed the stack in front of Tanja.

"Don't let the stack intimidate you. It's not as bad is it seems. The first forms are for your reference, you do not need to sign them. They state that we have certified that the ship we are selling is 100% operation and all systems within spec. Then there is the transfer of registration form. After that there is the paperwork for the Work to Own which only one has to be signed. The rest are for your reference. Terms etc."

Tanja flipped through the first few pages since they did not require signing and then looked more closely at the rest, making sure that the details in the papers matched what they had spoken of. Once she saw that everything was in order she signed the needed documents.

Isao then signed in the places he need to. Pulled out a folder and inserted the documents into it. He then pulled up a datacard. "This is the key to your ship. Once you open it, you can program your own security system, be it a number, biometric etc."

Tanja took the key and smiled to him. "Thank you, I'll make sure to remember how nice service is here in my future endeavors."

Tanja stands before her new ship a Ge-Y1-4a - "Henkei" Prospector that was named the Anbruch. Between all the paperwork to make sure she and the ship were registered to mine in the Kohana Cloud and the acquisition of the two droids and furniture a few days had passed but now she can finally take her first independent steps into space.

She stepped inside her ship and was greeted by the male Geboku class android she had purchased, while she was glad to have an extra set of hands the rigid face disturbed her. “I hope you work better than you look.” She said in passing as she headed to the bridge.

The Geboku followed after his owner towards the bridge. “I have downloaded the entire manual on operation and maintenance of the Ge-Y1 ‘Henkei’ series of star ships.”

The Abwehran woman sighed and placed her hand on the biometric panel and then input a code on a keypad to open the bridge and then move in. “Run a startup diagnostic and then head to a claim that’s not being mined.” She sat down in the captain’s chair and began doing her own check on registration and a last check over regulations, the last thing she wanted to do was incur a fine for misconduct.

The Anbruch had settled into a spot all it’s own and for the past few hours had been mining ore. Tanja was the former empty space that she how now redesigned into a recreation and light exercise room. She was seated on a couch and working with some dumbbells as she watched an Abwehran TV series. The woman had never really had much chance to get too into different shows before, so she downloaded some of the more popular ones to watch on her downtime.

The young Abwehran’s peace is disturbed however when warning sirens went off and the intercom hummed to life

“We have been targeted and are being hailed.” spoke the Geboku android.

Tanja stood up and headed straight for the bridge in shorts and a T-shirt, her usual workout and lounge clothes. Once on the bridge she sat down in her captain’s chair and responded to the hailing.

“Who the hell are you an-”

The woman was cut off by a gruff sounding man whose face appeared on screen. “Anderson! I told you never to come back here or I’d blow your ship to bits.”, the man howled.

“I don’t know who Anderson is but-” Tanja once again tried to speak up but was shot down by the impulsive man.

“I didn’t ask to speak to a consort! Get Anderson on now!”

Tanja twitched at at that and spoke up. “I don’t have to listen to your-” The man once again tried to interrupt her but the Abwehran would not have that and retorted immediately. “No you shut up! I am Tanja Dunst Captain of this vessel. I do not know who this Anderson fellow is but he is not on my ship!”

The man is taken back by the outburst for a moment but then growls and leans forward in his chair glaring over the screen. “Then you will let us board and search for him.”

The Abwehran did not pause a moment before responding, “No. You will not come aboard my ship. We have already marked your registration, and if you so much as power up your weapons we will send word to security and have you arrested for attempted piracy.” With that she cut off channel not even allowing the man to reply.

The screen switched back to a view of space and she sighed, checking the sensor data to see what the ship is, while the Geboku android prepared to send the emergency signal. The ship was a Yimeya light mining vessel which was considerably larger than her Henkei, but she couldn’t show any signs of fear or she’d give them the advantage. She made no adjustments to the ship's position and turned the mining lasers back on to show that she was not afraid of them.

For five minutes there was silence and no change to either side’s demeanor but the Yimeya class ship turned off it’s lock and backed away. It was unclear if they had realized they had to wrong ship, or if they were just going to come back later, either way though Tanja was glad to be rid of them and continued to mind her business and mine.

After the incident with the Yimeya class ship, Tanja did not have any more trouble and was peacefully mining her sector, rarely even seeing other ships pass by. Right now she was asleep even if she did not have much stress for a few days she needed to keep herself in peak condition in case something did happen. Her sleep was interrupted however by the Geboku android on the intercom system.

“Commander, we have a large object on sensors. It does not appear to be an asteroid.” The android spoke in it’s usual mechanical tone.

Tanja groaned and sat up in her bed, and rubbed her head. “Geboku..set a course for the object so we can get a clearer view.” She stood up this time put on a pair of green cargo pants and a white T-shirt, since she had slept only in her undergarments and then proceeded to the bridge.

By time the captain arrived at the bridge they were close enough to get a visual on the object. The Abwehran smiled at seeing it, it looked like a large chunk of a ship, and it was not too heavily damaged. “This is going to be great...Geboku, fly the ship closer and use the arms to hold it in place while I secure it.”

She then left the bridge to put on her environmental suit. She spent a bit of time getting suited up, this particular suit she had never put on before so she fumbled around to get everything into place. Once everything was settled she headed to the shuttle bay where adequate equipment could be found. "Next investment..Graviton beam projector." she told herself as she headed out of the shuttle bay, a large tow cable in arm. This was much harder than she had anticipated, the cable was heavy and hard to maneuver as she floated her way towards the wreckage, the somewhat clunky controls of the suit not helping either.

Once she got to the hull fragment she began work on securing the ship. After several minutes of long hard work, she was done with the first cable but she would have to do at least 2 more cables before she could really be satisfied that it was secure. She made her way back to the Anbruch to repeat the process twice more. After about an hour of work, the hull fragment was securely anchored to her ship and held in place.

“Geboku, make a call to Amatsu-Nova, tell them we’re on our way back with some large salvage.” With that she drifted back into the ship, and properly pressurized the shuttle bay before heading back to her room, taking off the EVA suit as she went. Normally with just salvage she would want to continue mining, but with something this big, she did not want to risk losing or damaging it.

At the bridge the Geboku was just finishing sending the message back to Geshrinari as Tanja walked in. The female captain set down and made adjustments to the systems, to prepare the CDD field and expand it far enough to take the salvage with it. Once everything was aligned properly she engaged sublight propulsion and headed back to Amatsu Nova.

The Anbruch arrived back at Amtasu-Nova station with no problems and was met by station crew ships that took the wreckage off her hands and gave her a service number so she could claim the wreckage. After the Anbruch finished docking it’s captain opened the cargo hatch and with the Geboku’s help began off-loading the cargo which wasn’t as much as she would like, but hopefully the salvage would take care of that.

Once everything was squared away, Tanja figured it was best to wait for everything to process before going out again, to make sure she got her funds. So she put on her jacket with what she was already wearing and took her gun with her, heading off for a little shore leave as she pulled her goggles into place. She did not get far however before she noticed some men starting to approach. It took a moment but she soon recognized the man leading them, it was the captain of the Yimeya class ship. She tried to ignore them and walk past, but the group of men moved in front of her to block her course.

The Yimeya captain was a gruff Nepleslian man, that stood several inches taller than Tanja. He and his men looked down at the woman glaring. “Now where is Anderson?”

“You don’t listen do you? I don’t know who the hell Anderson is but if he owned this ship before me he defaulted on his payments and is gone. Now move aside.” She went to push them aside and continue on. However one of the men grabbed her by her shoulder. On reflex Tanja turned around and grabbed his arm, twisting it and forcing the man to her knees, resisting the instinct to pull her gun on him. “Do not touch me again and leave before you make me angry.”

The man withdrew and the captain snarled as they started to step back. “You haven’t seen the last of us woman!.” He and his men then walked off.

A Geshrinari employee moved over after the men left. “Are you okay ma’am?” He offered a friendly smile but looked worried as well.

Tanja turned her attention to the man and shrugged. “I am But could you explain what that was?”

“Yes, I apologize. That was Robert Gearbox, a Nepleslian and captain of the Mad Mole. He and his crew are rather rowdy, but they are good miners. Rumor has it that the got the Mad Mole through extortion.”

“I see...thank you.” Tanja waved and walked off deciding that she was going to enjoy herself while Geboku watched the ship, and Geshrinari took care of her haul.

Tanja had spent her sunday shopping around to negotiate a price for the warship fragment that she picked up. She did eventually manage to get what she felt was a reasonable price. She had wanted to pick up some equipment to make her work a little easier, but instead decided to just save up and work her finances at the end of the month. She did however decide to pay half a year in advance on her loan, since she managed to make so much her first time out.

Fortunately she had not had any more problems with the Mad Mole and her crew. THe Anbruch was idling in the same mining spot as before, though last week was not great Tanja was just starting to get into a good vein when she had to tow the large haul back to the station. Now she only wanted to continue her mining in peace.

Tanja did not get the peace that she was looking for however, during a status check on the bridge the alarms suddenly sounded. Tanja moved to her captain’s console to see what was happening. The console was giving an electronic warfare alert. This was the last thing Tanja wanted, she had no hands on experience with these kinds of things. Trying hard not to panic she tried to send an emergency message to Amatsu-Nova station, but before she could finish she lost control of communications.

The Abwehran swore aloud in her native tongue and slammed her hands on the console. Neither her or her Geboku had the knowledge to fend off this attack and despite their efforts, the systems were being taken down faster than they could keep up with. Soon Tanja was locked out of all the systems on the Anbruch . She was not sure what to do, thoughts racing through her head, but then she noticed on radar, a freighter moving in from just out of radar range. She could not gather registry information on this mysterious ship since she was locked out of her systems, but she knew it meant trouble and made sure her pistol was ready and hid away in her room.

The Abwehran had been in a few engagements with pirates before and knew what to expect. Minutes passed as she waited in her room with pistol drawn. Soon she could hear footsteps in the hall as they rushed towards the bridge from the airlock. She knew that they would be a bit confused to see only a Geboku at the bridge, but they would quickly search the rest of the ship.

When the first man, fully equipped for combat stepped into Tanja’s room, the former soldier did not ask any questions aiming for the head and firing twice and putting two rounds into man’s skull. Though the sound was muffled by the suppressor, it was of course not enough to keep those near by from hearing. Tanja knew this and quickly rushed to the body she had just taken care of, taking a submachine gun off him and taking his corpse to use as a shield as she stepped out of the room.

Fortunately for Tanja these pirates did not bother to adjust the lights, so the halls were dark and hard to fight in unless your eyes adjust. This gave Tanja time to fire down one side of the hall, sending a flurry of bullets at an approaching man while the armored corpse took fire from the other direction. The Abwehran then took advantage of a pause in the fire when the pirate had realized he was shooting his friend and spun out from around the body, letting it fall as she laid down another hail of bullets. She managed to put the man down and was feeling rather confident in herself as she headed for the air lock. However there was a sudden bright flsah of light and a loud noise, the woman’s head was spinning at the sudden shock of sensations and her eyes were in pain. Before she could come to her sense though she felt something strike the back of her neck and then everything went black.

Tanja found herself waking up on a cold metal floor as a chill ran over her body. As she pushed herself up a few things rushed to her attention. First, she could hear the sounds of people around her, sobs, and groans mostly. Second, though her hearing was slowly coming back to her, her sight was fuzzy, she could not see well, it was too light in the area. So she reached for her goggles above her head, then her neck, they were not there, as she felt around for them she thing came to the third realization. She was not only missing her goggles, but her clothes as well, she was left only in undergarments.

This was a bit of a shock to the Abwehran woman but she quickly realized what kind of situation she was in because of it. However she could hear the steps of someone approach her and she looked in the general direction, she however kept her glance down, not wanting to look up at the light.

“You finally woke up.” The voice was that of an older woman, though Tanja could only make out that the woman had red or brown hair that went down to her hips and tanned skin, she could tell something was different about this woman, there was no fear or panic in her voice, she seemed to be used to this. “You were out a while, wasn’t sure you were going to wake up.”

Tanja recognized the language the woman spoke, it was Nepleslian so she could understand every word. “Where am I? And how long was I asleep?” She responded hoping to get some good information.

“Hmm well you’ve been out a whole day since you got here...and as far as where? You’re in a slave camp. No idea where though By the way, I am Veronica, what is your name?”

“Tanja.” The Abwehran replied. “How bad is it here?”

There was a moment of pause before the woman with long crimson hair replied. “Be useful in the factory and you won't get taken to the upper floors much. If you can manage that it’s at least survivable.”

Tanja thought about that a moment but she didn’t need to ask what was on the upper floors she could guess based on what she knew. “I need my goggles, I can hardly see without them.”

Veronica shook her head some “That’s going to be difficult the guards probably won’t just give them back without something in return.”

“I don’t have much choice, I’m practically blind without them in this light. I wont be of any use in a factory.”

The woman sighed and then scratched her head. “Well I’ll see if we can talk one of the easier to deal with guards into getting your goggles for you. But unless you want to spend some time on your knees you might have to wait a few days.”

Tanja took a moment of pause and then nodded “I suppose that’s probably for the best.”

“Good, our shift starts soon anyway, I’ll lead you to the factory. Whatever you do, don’t mention that your vision is bad, or they’ll take you out immediately.”

After about ten minutes there was a buzz and sell the women were in was opened along with many others and what Tanja could make out were guards positioned themselves ready to deal with anyone trying anything. Veronica just began to walk, glancing back only briefly and infrequently to make sure that Tanja was following her. THey were jostled through halls and down a lift. To Tanja’s relief as they descended the lighting got a little dimmer, she still could not see very well, but an improvement was an improvement.

The lift soon stopped at the ‘factory’, Tanja could not make out exactly what was going on but the sounds and shapes told her there was a decent amount of machinery present, however she did not smell any of the scents associated with machining or weapons factories. Veronica did not give her much time to observe though and took her over to a station.

“There is a lot of stuff going on here but our job is just to take the vials from here, and fill them using this machine. Then cap them and put them on the conveyor.” As she gave the directions she demonstrated them to tanja, knowing she couldn’t see well.

Tanja nodded and began to work, filling the vials with a strange pink fluid.

Tanja had spent the majority of the past two days working in the factory, thankfully her job was easy enough that she could do it with her poor vision, but she felt like her luck was about to change. Veronica had informed her that one of the more lenient guards was on duty today and that he should be easy enough to convince to give her her goggles back.

So waiting till after their work shift, Veronica called the guard over to their cell. The man was tall and had short hair, either a sandy blonde or light brown, it was still hard for her to make out. He also did not appear too athletic, if it weren’t for his weapon Tanja would’ve considered beating him up and taking his access key. He spoke up however to them. “What do you want?”

“My friend Tanja here, she’s a bit concerned. She had a pair of goggles with her when she came, and they’re family heirlooms so she was hoping she could get them back.” Veronica retorted, sounding as innocent and concerned as she could.

The man turned and looked Tanja over examining her figure. “Well if I do that, I might get in trouble, so it’s not like I can do it for free.”

Tanja held back any disgust she was feeling at hearing that, the man’s tone made it obvious what kind of things he was talking about, even to someone who could hardly see, like her right now. However if she didn’t play along with this man, then she would risk having to go without her goggles the rest of the time. “Please? You could just sneak them in your pocket.” She managed to speak with a some what innocent and concerned voice as she ‘pleaded’ with the man.

“Hmm...if you dance for me, then I’ll get them back for you.” Though Tanja couldn't see it she could tell he was smirking as if he had made some great accomplishment.

“If it’s just dancing..then I can do that.” Tanja smiled some trying to be a bit flirtatious to lighten him up a bit.

He grinned and opened the cell, pulling the Abwehran out and then sitting down in a chair. “Then start dancing.”

The young woman soon began to dance, emphasizing the swinging of her hips.

However before she could get too much into it the man spoke up. “That’s not the kind of dancing I’m talking about.”

Tanja only for a fraction of a second showed an irritated face but then moved closer to the man and began dancing more sensually, bringing her body within only a few inches of his on several occasions. Of course this got a rouse out of the young man and his hands reached up taking hold of her hips and stroking her rear.

Before the Abwehran woman could protest to the man’s actions, a door at the end of the hall opened and everything grew quiet and still. Tanja could not see who just stepped in the doorway but even she felt threatened by this person, and they were only getting closer as they walked over towards her.

Soon the blurry figure had a voice that Tanja could associate with it, a feminine one, that sounded rather annoyed.“I know the rules say that you can only touch the broken merchandise.” And while she was still several feet away there was a blur of motion as something reached out from the woman’s direction, much too fast for Tanja to guess what it was in her current state of vision. Only an instant after that blur vanished the man in front of Tanja began to scream and fell out of his chair curling up in pain. “So, you’re part of the shipment that came in a few days ago?” The woman directed her attention to Tanja, not even worried about the screaming man on the ground.

Tanja could only nod to the woman, she did not know if it was the heightened sense of vulnerability due to not having clothes nor being able to see well or if this woman was just deserving, but Tanja was afraid of this woman.

The woman gave a small chuckle “Good, we’ve got a customer coming tomorrow that enjoys breaking rare girls.” She then looked around some and pointed to Veronica. “You’ll do good too Red.”

Tanja felt her heart sink at hearing what this woman said, she had been trying to avoid this and was so close to getting her goggles back so she could do better, but that all meant nothing with just one woman’s words. And in only moments guards came to take both her and Veronica away.

The two women were taken into an elevator by the guards and up to another floor. Where they were moved to a room, it was small and there was no real furnishing to it. It only seemed to be so they could keep girls for different customers separate.

The last week had been horrible for Tanja and Veronica. They had been treated like objects and used only to fulfill a man’s desires. However they did not have time to feel sorry for themselves the man was planning on buying them, and this might be their only chance to get out of here. The two girls decided to act weak and broken they didn't want to encourage high security.

Once it was time to transfer them like they had expected, only a single guard came into their small room. He was still pretty armored and had equipped with a SMG, but he was still better than having 3 or four guards. Either way the man pulled them up and began to take them out of the room and heading through the compound. This was the first time the girls were seeing this portion of the facility, the further they got from the rooms where they kept slaves as merchandise the more empty and cold the place became.

Before long they were heading through narrow hall that did not seem to fit with the rest of the structure, it was amended to the facility. And with the guards posted at the entrance, it seemed that it was kept narrow to bottleneck any escapees and do away with them. Soon the two women were taken to a small ‘wet dock’ for space craft. There were doors and paths leading to separate craft and far down the hall there stood a group of people. Tanja could not actually make out who this group was but she was pretty sure that they were with the man that had purchased them.

However the two women had no intention of going to that group. When veronica noticed that one of the ports was in use she quickly brought her heel back and kicked the man hard in the shin. It did not do much but it caused him to yelp, which was enough to alert the nearly sight impaired Abwehran that they were acting.

Tanja quickly turned around and grabbed the man’s head and gave it a sharp twist while he was busy trying to say something to Veronica. Tanja made sure to grab his SMG and dashed after the red blurry object that she knew as Veronica while the group a distance away fired their weapons wildly as they rushed over.

“Do you know how to pilot a ship?” Veronica questioned her companion as she opened the airlock and rushed to the other side opening it as well and ushering her in.

“I can, but I need the lights lower so I can see.” Tanja quickly moved along after her getting across the airlock and into the ship as Veronica closed the airlock to start the depressurization, and keep others from opening it.

The two women quickly got to work getting the ship’s systems online and ready to go. After the lights were turned down Tanja could read the screens and was able to identify the small vessel they had stepped into as an Onset Shuttle. They had gotten lucky and managed to get on a ship with FTL capabilities and that had been refit with weapons as well. That is if you considered two pulse plasma canon’s from a Hoshou fighter as adequate weaponry.

Once everything was online Tanja wasted no time and separated from the dock. “Veronica, can you set in coordinates for the CDD system? I’ll keep us flying till then.” Tanja did not expect that they would just be allowed to leave without a fight, but she had no intention of making this harder than it needed to be. She fired at some of the other ships that were docked mostly shooting at unshielded thrusters before anyone could get inside so they couldn't follow.

Veronica had been guarding the door to make sure no one got in but onced asked moved over to the second console and began typing, trying to get their location and find any near by stations or safe systems. “Tanja we have to get further away, they have some kind of sensor jammer working.”

The Onset shuttle took this chance to rocket off trying to get as much distance as it could before any of the other improvised security ships could take off. However before they could get out of range of the long range sensor jammer a few security vessels approached. Much like the onset they were all just improvised security shuttles with no real design for combat.

“Hang on.” Tanja spoke up as she made a quick turn, using the maneuvering thrusters to tighten the angle of the turn more and fire on one of the three advancing ships. The shields of course took the blow.

The ships all began to bank around as the Onset passed them by. However it had no intention to stay and play. It made a soft bank to get itself perpendicular and then propelled itself at maximum speed. Only a portion of the security ships noticed in time to make corrections mid maneuver and give chase, the others had to perform a second turn to align themselves.

A barrage of shots from the ships behind them forced Tanja to constantly reposition the craft, trying to avoid fire. However she could only avoid so much and shots soon began to strike against the shields. At this time however they managed to escape the jamming field and Veronica quickly put in coordinates as their shield fell. “Engaging CDD.” And with that the redhaired woman hit a button and space shifted around them and the ship was propelled through space, eluding their pursuers.
