Why is it Kh- instead of Motoyoshi Fleet Yards' My-?

Also don't you think a DR 9, shield piercing weapon is overpowered? It could destroy pretty much anything in one hit. I don't like it.

The "KH" indicates Yuriko's division/sub-company of MFY.

As for the weapon's power, the shield piercing could be removed, but the damage rating of 9 seems feasible, could make an excellent alternative to the Aether Shock Cannon.
 
Considering Subspace Encased Particle Cannons, Anti Neutron. and Positron Weaponry also have the shield piercing effect, and are also DR 9, I don't see a problem to be perfectly honest. All things considered, while I am a fan of all three types of weaponry, diversity in our armaments should be encouraged, built, and improved upon. This while I may seem arrogant by saying, is a unique weapon system considering most rely on anti matter or aetheric power. And yet this is to my knowledge the first of its kind.
 
I would find DR 7 for mid-sized applications and DR 8 for starship applications more acceptable. The current values are a little high. Aside from that the technology itself is impressive.
