Myrna cleared away the items that Jacob no longer required. She was about to say something to him voicing her concern for the obvious youngster, but before she could the boisterous female spoke.

Jacob leaned back to allow the waitress to clear his dishes, all except for his dwindling glass of water and pint of beer. He smirked slightly at the big woman who addressed him, laying one of his arms across the back of his booth seat. "I know that the two of you keep flapping your jaws as loud as you do, y'all are gonna bring whatever trouble brought you here right back down on your heads," he remarked casually, picking his teeth with his fingernail. "Especially you," he added, motioning to Eli with a flick of the wrist that was draped across his seat.

He took another drink of his beer and reclined further into his seat. "Yeah, I was on board that ship," he continued with a relaxed sigh. "But it wasn't mine."

Eli bristled a bit at the man's remark. Just because no-one at Land's End was innocent, didn't mean they couldn't have an innocent conversation. And anyway, Eli didn't really know what trouble he was running from to begin with. He'd left too quick for anyone to find him and try get the book, and here at Land's End, he felt pretty sure no-one would be coming.

As long as he kept his head down.

He answered the man between mouthfuls, "So, who's is it then?"

OOC: Apologies for the belated reply - life has been rather busy lately!

"You got aboard the same way I did," Jacob replied, still reclined in his seat, his hardened hand lightly grasping the near-empty beer glass. "How the hell should I know any more than you?"

"Well, I thought... I dunno. You look like a guy who knows stuff." Eli reddened and focused on the food. Hopefully Joe would fill the awkward silence. Oh well, he'd soon be finished and away from here (to where?). This man was skilled, and dangerous for sure. But then, so was Joe most likely, and she didn't put Eli on edge.
