Edtoto paced outside Hasewega and Skade quarters a little nervously. She wanted to ask Hasewega for some help with her fighting, but she couldn't do it in her powerarmour for fear of hurting someone. She always enjoyed how controlled ad disaplined Hasewega was when it came to her combat, despite the styles not woring well together in the slightest. What she was worried about though, was walking in on both Skade and Hasewega. She couldn't really find either of them on the ship, leading her to believe they were both in their quarters and she wasn't about to bother Ochiko regarding the question. Eventually though, she hit the button to open the door. "Hasewega, could I ask you for some help?" She asked, walking into the room.
The room was empty save for Hasewega laying her bunk reading. Skade must've been else where around the ship keeping it from hopefully blowing up. Hasewega looked up from the book she reading from her bunk, rasing a brow at the question. "Of course Edtoto, what do you need?" She asked calmly as she the book down and stood to greet the Vekimen.
Edtoto took a deep breath. "So you know how I fought then Android, correct? Well, I'm noticing I feel handicapped without beig able to go into the... Mindset I used I guess you could say" She explained, sitting down at the desk chair. "I know that there are fighters among the Vekimen who can enter that mindset without losing their minds in a fight like I come close to doing. I was wondering if you could help me figure out how to get to that level?" She asked, feeling a little off. She wasn't exactly comfortable talking about this, give the negative annotations regarding the feral mindset many of the crew had in her beliefs.
Hasewega nodded. "I understand. Sometimes we forget our character for the sake of survivial, it is always difficult to come back afterwards." She took a deep breah for moment as she thought. "I can offer you several tips that can help; Yoga, meditation, pacifism, so on. But the main thing I think we need focus on is to always know why you're fighting. I'm assuming that your species doesn't really enter a feral mindset unless cornered, yes?"
Edtoto seemed as if she were crossed on two answers to the main question. "Yes and no... Vekimen kill. When we fight and the fight gets real to us, we go feral. Hyper aggressive as a show of force so to speak. I'm ashamed to admit it, but we are just as animal as we are sentient. It's not a defense mechanism, it's an attack mechanism. Created after countless generations of war and conflict on our home planet and enhanced by our natural animalistic instincts. Essetially, it is needed to truly unlock my capabilities using my talons and claws. I am not good with venom, or acrobatics, or stealth. Not like the others I know who are skilled fighters win the VDTF" She explained. "But now if I go into that mindset, my armour will lock out. I won't be able to move anymore"
The minkan nodded as Edtoto spoke, mentally taking note of everything. She stood in silence, considering her options. "I see. I can understand why you're feeling somewhat inhibited by not being able to this; it's like you're being held back from being well, you. But slightly more agressive. Not that I want you to continue to feel uncomfortable by this but doesn't the use of of talons and claws seem a bit... visceral?"
Edtoto blinked. "Isn't... Isn't that the point? Would you rather me use my teeth?" She asked, opening her mouth to demonstrate the rows of razor sharp teeth. "I can eat my opponents alive, break their bones, or various other things. My claws and talons just seem the most... Effective in combat. Why not use them? I also focus on my tail, but that just accents my claws and talons" She explained with a simple shrug. The idea of Visceral may not have the same effect on a creature who was used to eating its own kind, or rotting animal flesh in their mouth to eat.
"It just seems unnecessarily violent is all." Hasewega tried to reason. "There's much more efficent and less brutal ways of eliminating one's opposition than violently ripping and tearing into them... Though that's just my way thinking. I wasn't born with talons and claws to use in combat so it's a bit of a foreign topic for me to try and judge." The minkan tried to save herself with.
Edtoto thought about this fact, before getting up and reaching over to grab Hasewega's hand. "I see your kind fight with a closed fist" She explained "Or with your fingers curled, and your palm. Impacts regardless cause pain and suffering to my kind because of our claws" She continued, placing her claws down on the Minkans to give her an idea of what it would feel like to punch with such things digging into her hands. "However, how easy would it be to do damage to your opponent with them instead?" She asked, lightly dragging them across her arm. Despite being dull, if given enough force they would probably cause severe truama and pain, and Edtoto was clearly capable of such force.
Hasewega tensed up a little as felt Edtoto's claw drag across her, but she did her best to keep a calm composure. She sighed light before speaking. "I never said I condoned hand-to-hand fighting either. I may know some different martial arts but I rarely wish to use them. I myself prefer to use a the tried and true method of a blade."
Edtoto looked down at her feet, the long, hooked talons looking much worse to be hit with. "I was born with blades. Maybe not as sharp, or as long, but I have them. Why use another" She retorted, before shrugging. 'We are off topic though. I want to learn to control this mental state, so that I can identify friends from foes. I need you to help me control it. I don't know who else to trust, and who else would take the risk other than the Adroid, but I don't see him as a good teacher so to speak"
"You are right." Hasewega agreed with a nod. "I've never seen you go berserk, so at most right now, all I can tell you do is focus if do you ever go into this state. Focus on... someone close. Focus on protecting someone or maybe an entire of group you people you hold dear. That don't have to be close, they could be lightyears away, but just focus and think that maybe every enemy you have to kill helps keep them protected, gives you reason to stay in control."
Edtoto blinked, thinking about it. "That is an... Odd consept" She said simply, not inflecting on the reasoning to her tone.
"It just a concept right now." Hasewega added. "Take it what you will. I'm not intelligent in the least bit. I can also help with you meditation to help you center your thoughts before hand if you'd like."
Edtoto tilted her head. "I have heard the consept of mediation, but I do not know how to do it. Sivaro brains are almost always active, even in our sleep. Clearing and silencing it is well... Impossible" She said, frowning. Whether she was being serious, or speaking from experince, exaggerated by her small world was unclear. However, you are intelligent. Maybe not in all the ways you think are important, but in ways that are important to you" She said, her muzzle parting in an odd smile.
Hasewega smiled and shook her head. "You flatter me too much. But don't trust my word on everything, I'm simply to just giving device with my limited experince with existence."
Edtoto nodded. "Flattery, maybe. I am neither exagerating or incincere in my words though Hasewega. I mean all of them. I have not lied to you yet at least" She stated softy, sitting next to the Minkan. "You need to know what you can do, and know you can do it well. I don't think anyone on this ship could lay a hand on you in a fight, aside from maybe the Taii and even that would be a toss up. Your drive for perfection is admirable, but what you have to accept is that you will costantly be driving for perfection. I can help you with that, you ca help me with my problem" She smiled, giving the girl a hug.
The minkan smiled and hugged back, holding Edtoto tightly. "Sure. I help you, you help me."
Edtoto stood up after the hug and smiled. "I'll be honest. I was hoping to possibly spare with you, but in hindsight, you would probably need to wear a mindy to esure I didn't accidentally hurt you. I would hate myself if I accidentally caught a talon in your stomach" She stated sheepishly. "Or in some other unpleasant place. I don't know if I would be able to safety them without havig a hard time moving" She explained, accenting this by clicking her talons on the floor.
The thought of being evicerated alive by accident by Edtoto's talons ellicted a slight grimmace and meep from Hasewega. "I'll uh, I'll be sure to keep in the mind if we ever do get the chance to spar again." She slide her feet away as she heard the taps of the talons.
Edtoto nodded. "Well... I wil try to keep that idea in mind, the people close to me one. I like it... I have a few idea's of people who might fit" She said, smiling at the Minkan. "I'll give it a shot.
