RP: YSS Heartbreaker [Mission 4] The Word And Deed Go Hand In Hand

Laderen Corridor, Chudan

The android started floating backward, towards Skade and the airlock. The moment of hesitation passed. Takeshi tried a scalar field strong enough to disable most humans on the first Vekimen he could get a shot at. "Morwind-hei, get out of there. Their guns may not be effective but those jaws are deadly. Skade-hei, we have a group of Vekimen incoming. I don't think they are infected. It would appear they think we brought the Mishuuvurthyar for some reason." He said quietly. "I will attempt to communicate but I fear they may not believe anything we say."

In his best imitation of the Vekimen language, he said as loud as possible, "Vekimen, we are from the Star Army of Yamatai and we are here to help with your pest problem. Edtoto Nar Sivaro brought us here. She is escorting a team in the main corridor. If the parasites have not infected you, please cease hostile action at once."

From the I'ee fleet, another of the gold, spherical shuttles flew down to land by the other. When its rear hatch opened another, smaller team of four suited I'ee emerged, each carrying what looked like heavy, curved metal plates. Four of the I'ee guarding the airlock each moved to assist their newly arrived siblings in hauling the objects into a roughly semi-circular formation facing the entrance to the station. It was obvious now as they propped up the heavy metal shields on stabilising 'feet' that they were defensive barricades. Each of them bore a small slit roughly in the centre of their curved surface, in which the I'ee were setting up heavy weaponry; what looked to be heavy caliber slug-firing rifles.

With all four barricades set up and armed, they each trained the barrels of their weapons on the darkness of the doorway while the rest of the I'ee moved to take cover beside and behind them.

Yui continued to chatter almost non-stop at the comms station, apparently keeping the rest of the I'ee fleet updated on the situation, who all seemed unusually apprehensive over the Misshuvarthyar presence aboard the station. Sally, on the other hand, wandered the bridge, careful not to get in anyone's way, but anxiously listening to and watching the progress of the Yamataian teams.

Alexis took a defensive stance that she hoped also seemed unhostile. "Get these things to stop I'll hold them as long as I can!"

Main Corridor, Jodan

Hasewga brought herself to a halt as the wounded Vekimen rounded the corner. She kept her rifle trained on it as limped forward, begging for help in first Edtoto's language before moving to trade. the minkan couldn't help but pity the creature. She wanted to leave formation to help it but she couldn't risk anyone else getting ambushed again. She could feel her getting a little antsy on the spot to do something...

Than the Vekimen's face busted open as tendrils shot out wrapped around the barrel of Hasewega's rifle. Not today, she heard herself echo in her mind Hasewega inhaled slowly as she tightened her grip around the rifle and got down into a nearly crouching position to get a good center of gravity. As she let go of her rifle with her left hand to summon her suit's aether blade, she felt the rifle rip out of her hand as Edtoto pounced the creature latched on to it and wrestled with it.

Hasewega found her self crouched down and without a rifle. She quickly hopped up to a standing position cool quickly leaving as she drew out her NSP from Mindy's utility compartments and took aim at the incoming hostiles before opening fire with what she had.

As Skade walked towards the tied up Vekimen, she stopped when one of her drones went offline. What the…she thought before the second one died as well. Well, crap. Hearing the lizard’s angry words, the technician knew that diplomacy was for after her team was safe.

Keeping as far away from Saba’s line of fire as possible and, she brought her set-to-stun NSP to bear and burst forward towards Alexis, as fast as she could go without losing control, which was around 60 mph. Braking from her maneuver, she fired at the nearest Vekimen, yelling “Sorry!” in Vekimenese, and put a hand on the SAINT’s breastplate.

“This isn’t a hill to die on, Alexis,” she said, shooting the advancing soldiers. “Fall back!”

Laderen Corridor, Chudan

Alexis fired a few shots before Skade had caught up to her hopefully stunning a few Vekimen. "It's still a hill isn't it? But you are right I lost my head. Sorry for arguing with you earlier I acted out of line." She boosted backwards and ran back to the supply closet. Grabbing as many metal sheets as she could carry she hurried back to the advancing corridor. "Hurry back I have an idea."

Laderen Corridor, Chudan

Huh, Skade thought, slowly retreating down the corridor as she kept firing. She can apologize. There might be hope left. Ducking into the supply closet to reload, she saw her tape still on the floor. Shaking her head at the forgotten item, she bent over to pick it up and then returned to the corridor.

Taking a few more shots at the incoming soldiers, the technician fell back until she was by Alexis. “So,” she asked, keeping the Vekimen at a distance but no longer pouring on fire, “what’s the plan?” I hope it’s decent.

Laderen Corridor, Chudan

Alexis dropped the metal at her feet and kicked it down the hall. "That's the plan. NOW RUN!!"

Alexis took a couple of potshots at the Vekimen and grabbed their comrades. "Have these back!" She chucked them at the soldiers who were coming. "Have the robot hide somewhere. He can come out later to talk with them as a service droid or something."

Every time Skade or Alexis shot or otherwise incapacitated a Vekimen, another would take its place. The handful of Vekimen had quickly turned into a large group, and into a complete hoard of Vekimen screaming out things the translators couldn't quite comprehend. However, in the background, the group could see well armed, well armoured Vekimen who were obviously giving out orders. Skade's Translator software picked out the words "Sraralumee", "Capture", and "Question" among the cacophony of screams and screeches from the Vekimen who were appearing.

They were quickly catching up unless the group was using their Anti-Grav, otherwise having to avoid the various tunnels that were all through the passages. Skade's software would pick up "Monsters" and "Quick" afterwards, and the Vekimen seemed to only press their situation, even more, working harder. Bullets from the front rows were flying past, bouncing off the armour of the two Neko and the Android, but when they finally got to the airlock, they couldn't help but realise a group of Vekimen had dug into the corridor and set up a large canon. This one looked like it would do a little more than just ricocheted off. If they looked behind them, they could see that the Vekimen were waiting behind a corner. There was nothing to stop the large gun from firing into the tunnel.

A tall Vekimen stood, holding up a hand in order, face hidden by a mask. "Stop now, on the ground!" It shouted out, the translator picking up what was said, pointing at the group and to the ground. It made the action very clear, a small SMG style weapon pointed forward with its free hand. Well... The group certainly had a choice...

Laderen Corridor, Chudan

Skade looked at the SAINT officer, down the hall, and back at her. “You haven't dealt with Vekimen too much, have you?” They are not so dumb to think Saba is anything but a war machine. Jeez. This from the person who wanted to leave him behind.

Before the technician could air more of her grievances, they were surrounded, horde of Vekimen coming behind them and a cannon behind them. It looked suspiciously like the one that had caused Edto some trouble coming through the main corridor, but this one looked bigger. Maybe that was just seeing it up close.

Hearing the order from the apparent officer and hoping that they weren’t kidding about capturing them instead of killing them, Skade dropped her NSP and the flamethrower, and kneeled on the floor. “Alexis-hei, Saba-hei,” she said, “put your weapons down and get on the floor. Now.”

Laderen Corridor, Chudan

Hearing Skade a bit too late Alexis went into a jet burst assisted slide and slammed into the cannons position. "Do you think I could say I slipped?"

Before Alexis could even get the opportunity to slam into the Cannons position, it opened up, pelting her with massive 30mm Canon fire. The burst of speed made the round even worse, pushing Alexis back. Warning lights flared as murphys law took effect, the heavy rounds tearing into her chest armour and slamming the SAINT agent on the ground. Some rounds exploded, some of them did some serious damage to the armour plates of her mindy. She didn't even make it to the gun, the team working effectively to keep the rate of firing going as her Mindy was literally torn apart. The first few rounds made a hole, the rest just opened it up and kept her down.

Warning lights in Alexis's mindy flashed for all sorts of issues, and she could tell she had some broken bones as she laid there. Edtoto was lucky to walk away with only being winded, and she didn't charge the gun that shot her with Neko speed. She would not be getting up from this, Neko endurance or not. One does not simply get nailed by multiple heavy, Explosive and Armour Piercing rounds and manage to walk away from it. She would still be alive, but she would probably regret every decision she made while in the Station as two Vekimen launched forward and pointed their guns at the obvious opening in her chest.

The team still manned the gun though, and the officer still stood, only this time it sounded angry. "Get on the ground... Or die. We are not asking again" It shouted, the two on the gun shifting to get comfortable.

Laderen Corridor, Chudan

The sheets of metal went skidding along the ground after the kick, although the Vekimen just trampled over them or along the walls and ceiling, undeterred. The aliens were stunned easily enough, collapsing in a heap with each NSP shot or blast from the android's similar weapons. But this only slowed them down enough for the team to avoid being completely overrun, and distracted them long enough to run right into the Vekimen firing squad that had circled around behind them.

Without her CFS or barriers up, the heavy weapon did a number on Alexis at such close range. She went down in a heap, her suit blaring warnings inside her head. The midsection of her Mindy had been pierced in several areas, and her own midsection underneath wasn't doing so well either. Hemosynth from both the armor's lining and her own body was oozing across her suit. If she remained still for a while it might be able to seal over enough for her to try standing, if she was careful. Thankfully the helmet was intact, and her air supply seemed non-Vekimen-scented for the moment.

Two armed Vekimen stood guard over the fallen Operative, while the large cannon adjusted its aim to point at the android. Skade had thrown down what they could identify as weapons, but it had shot at them from its hands, so they were understandably wary. Nearby, the team could hear the Vekimen examining their fallen comrades, as well as retrieving the pair from the crates in the storage room. They seemed to be aware that the fallen ones were all still breathing and apparently uninjured, even if they weren't entirely sure how the intruders had accomplished that. Once the Vekimen were sure the android was no longer a threat, the masked officer cautiously approached the group. As the fighting here died out, everyone present could hear a commotion elsewhere in the station, the Vekimen seeming more sensitive to it than the away team.

Main Corridor, Jodan

The first infected Vekimen that had approached them went down hard as Edtoto plowed into it. It at least succeeded in wrenching Sara's rifle out of her grip, tendrils flinging it down the corridor. It didn't have time to do much else, as the heavy suit crashing into it crunched it into the floor, the mass of tendrils ripped out at the base as those metal jaws chomped at it. The remains of the Vekimen twitched pitifully under the armored one. Sara found the other infected rushing her were only slowed down by stun bursts, but would start to drop if heavier fire was used. However, they were still at risk of damaging the station.

Ingrid could tell they were surrounded easily enough, as infected began to pour in from every direction, even the way they had just come. They fell to shots from her LASR, but there was always another body to replace the last, which seemed to be a running theme for Vekimen attacks. Yuko and Kiko were a bit slower to react, as grasping tendrils latched onto their rifles as well, trying to rip them free. Other tentacles sent them to the ground, starting to drag the pair away from the rest of their group, into the mass of infected Vekimen.

YSS Heartbreaker, Bridge

Sally could see the various feeds from the crew members crackling, turning to static one by one. "Taii, they're moving too far into the station. We've lost contact with Jodan entirely. Chudan...um..." Every few seconds a grainy image would flash across the screen Usagi was inspecting, from Skade's viewpoint. A sea of unfriendly Vekimen faces. "Well, Chudan has certainly made contact with the uninfected Vekimen."

"Have Gedan change position to the Laderen airlock for possible extraction. They might be able to boost communications to Chudan as well." The Captain looked up from the staticy images to signal for Rin's attention. "Ittou, contact the Seisenkyo and relay a message to Star Army Command. The Taisho will want to be made aware of our successful contact with the Vekimen...as well as the presence of Mishhuvurthyar. It will take some time for their support teams to mobilize."

Meanwhile, the I'ee team at the barricade could hear signs of the closer conflict, and soon had their own unfriendlies to worry about. A few stray infected from the group that had circled around behind the away team had split off to return to the main shuttle bay, rushing towards the insectoids, tendrils violently flailing in the air above them.

YSS Heartbreaker, Bridge

Sally whimpered and whined as she watched the chaos from the team's feeds being cut off one by one, quickly resuming her awkward, anxious dance. "They might be getting hurt! Oh no!" she cried, her mask displaying a tearful frown. "Please, I... This is terrible! I feel sad!" Meanwhile, from the communications console, Yui let out a piercing screech of alarm, observing movement at the shuttle bay. "Kssssss!" Yui hissed, which Sally soon replied to with one of her own, scampering back to her sister's side to observe the fight. Soon, the two of them were hopping up and down, hissing and pointing to the feed of the infected Vekimen attacking the I'ee barricade.

Shuttle Bay, Jodan

The I'ee on the shuttle bay paused when they saw the infected Vekimen leaving the darkness of the station, seeming confused for a brief moment. Then their weapons opened fire: Bright flashes illuminating the bay as the 30mm weapons began firing frantically at the infected Vekimen. The other I'ee hid by the barricades, reluctant to attack, before leaping out to brazenly tackle those who got too close, metal flashing as they stabbed at the infected with their blades; often with several I'ee mobbing a single Vekimish.

The ambassador ship still in the shuttle bay was hastily taking off, apparently in a panic: Bumping against the ceiling, then the wall, tearing away its antennae in the process, before flying at full speed out into open space. It moved with such speed that the exhaust from its engines caused visible damage to some of the walls. This panic seemed to be reverberating throughout the Ee'ith fleet, which was visibly drifting out of formation, as if uncertain whether to act or not.

Laderen Corridor, Chudan

It was hard for Alexis to think as she gasped for breath. The alarms in her helmet made it even harder to think. All that was on her mind though was if she'd be able to get off the station alive.

Main Corridor, Jodan

The entirety of being surrounded by infected vekimen armed with only an NSP and whatever armaments she had on her armor put her a but bind. As much as she'd love to use her shoulder cannon to clear a way out, the maintaining the station's integrity seemed to take the priority right now. But Edtoto was already off on her own and as she glanced back to Ingrid for orders, she noticed Yuko and Kiko now being attacked. As terrible as things seemed, she was happy she wasn't hit with another scalar field.

Still, she needed to focus. She couldn't panic again. She breathed in, looking back at Ingrid and the two being dragged away. She turned back to try and find Edtoto in the mass of infected, exhaling. It wasn't her place to give orders or take command, but something needed to be said. "Ingrid, you need to get Yuko and Kiko." She commed over to her superior, her voice calm and collected over the radio. "We need to either push forward or retreat now. I will assist Edtoto."

With that she switched her NSP to pulse mode and readied her suits barrier system before pushing forth towards where she lost saw the ambassador, opening fire on anything that gets in her way.

Laderen Corridor, Chudan

Skade grimaced when Alexis did her best to get killed by the Vekimen that surrounded them and alarms went off as her Mindy was riddled with bullets. “Morowind-hei, stay on the ground,” she ordered, letting the SAINT’s injury be her reason to take control of the situation. “Saba-hei, please don’t do anything without an order from me,” she continued, trying to be polite, as she was about to put herself in more danger, which the android seemed to be principally opposed to. Which is very cute and endearing, but will probably get us all killed if I don’t do some quick talking.

Seeing the alien soldiers looking nervously at her, or more likely her Mindy, she coughed, then said in Vekminese, “Hey, really sorry about this whole thing. There’s been a huge failure of communication. How about I get out of my armor, lie on the ground, and we can talk about what to do next?”

Please Alexis-kun,
the technician sent over telepathy, please don’t say anything else. Just lie on the ground until your injuries clot up.

Laderen Corridor

The Vekimen officer watched the silent exchange of the aliens as he approached, rifle held at the ready but relaxed. He was about to speak when the creature in front of him started speaking to him, in his own language none the less. He tilted his head but then shook it. "Your tone is off, but what should I expect from a speaker" He responded, lightly kicking the armoured figures leg. "Yes, you and your companions are to get out of your armour. You will explain to the Sraralumee what you are doing here personally" He ordered, looking at the android. "We are under orders that if you assail us, we are to use any means necessary to neutralise you, even if it costs us our lives. You have proven to be a threat to the station, and we will ensure that threat ends" He added as a threat.

Down the hallway, one of the Vekimen guarding Alexis had kneeled down to start fiddling with the armour system, trying to see if he could get the armour off her. He was fiddling with some basic bandages from his vest but knew he couldn't do anything until he got through the armour.

Main Corridor

Edtoto spat out the remains of the infected Vekimen before she was pulled into the mess as her team half fell back. She found herself surrounded by bodies, and knew she would have to fight back in some pretty brash ways. I didn't want to do this, but I guess I have no choice She thought to herself, communicating with the AI as fast as she could. As she did, she managed to get her feet underneath her body and practically explode out into a vision of violence and viciousness.

The change was drastic. Before, she was fighting as she usually did against Hasewega, and now she was taking any opportunity she could. With the strength of the armour fueling her animalistic combat style, nothing was safe. She removed limbs, cut open stomachs, slit throats. Anything flesh that met with her body was quickly turned into little more than ground meat.

Once Hasewega, Ingrid, and Yuko could see the armoured Alien, they would get a very nice image of what made the Vekimen the apex on their planet at least. As Edtoto stepped on the head of a living Vekimen, while simultaneously tearing the arm of another and ramming it down the creatures throat. Blood dripped down from her muzzle as it looked like not a single part of her armour wasn't coated in at least a thin layer. Edtoto had gone to work, and the ever growing pile of dead, mutilated bodies building up around her was a clear indication of how well she worked.

Yuko let out a panicked cry and gripped her gun harder as the tentacles grabbed her gun. She was being slowly being drug into the mass of infected vekimenm and had been caught completely off-guard. Yuko attempted to turn her gun just enough to fire upon one of the infected Vekimen, but it was to no luck. She was too panicked and way too nervous. She then looked at the creatures with wide eyes. Yuko threw herself back, hoping to get as far away from them as possible. Yuko still didn't quite know what to do, so she just kinda squirmed around in hopes to get away.

Following Skade's orders, Takeshi stopped firing, then powered down his weapons and lowered himself to the floor. To the Vekimen eye, he shined like a spotlight at the moment. Intense heat radiated from him, probably something the lizard-like people would like in different circumstances. It was extremely difficult for the android to disobey orders. He wanted to move when Skade-hei mentioned getting out of her armor, but he was held in place by his p. That was the last thing he would recommend in a Mishuuvurthyar infested station. He wasn't afraid of what they would do to him, but they could do unspeakable things to the Nekovalkyrja. "Skade-san... be careful," the synthesized voice said, "we don't know who might be under the control of a parasite."

The android addressed the Vekimen that spoke to him and spoke again, in their language. "The threat is not us. The parasites are. We can destroy them." He tried to explain. Surely they would see the truth of the situation. The leader, this Sraralumee, must be aware the enemy that invaded the station didn't operate anything like the team from the Heartbreaker. Then he remembered how Edtoto had acted during their fight. He wasn't so confident they would listen to reason.
