Katae sat on the quiet bridge of the Aeon. Most of the stations were in standby mode along with most of the gunship's systems. Katae was having to do the one thing she hated most. Waiting. She was better at being in the thick of things, but as a Taisa she was expected to send her crew and remain behind.

Eternity provided a volumetric display of a game of go. She was contemplating her next move when she received a brief blip from Shina Kim. She sent a message to Oinari the newest member of her crew to report to the bridge. Likewise she sent a message to Hisa the engineer to be ready to bring the ship to combat stations quickly.

Aeon

Freyja Oinari bearly stepped out of the shuttle with her duffel when the message from the Taisa, she quickly sent off a note that she got the message and was heading there. She still felt uneasy with the fact she was just ordered to this ship, she didn't believe it was normal to be redeployed before she really had much time to settle in.

She found her way through the ship with a little help from the ships AI, she had it download a passageway map to her glasses. With that she made it to the bridge fairly easily.

As she entered the Bridge she pushed her glasses back on her nose. She was a mousie sort of being with her hair threatening to cover her eyes, and a shy demeanor. She looked as if she was trying to make her self look as small as she possibly could, as if she was trying to hide in the open.

She dropped her duffel next to her and bowed, "Ma'am Freyja Oinari, reporting for duty." She had to brush her hair back out of her eyes as she waited for the Taisa to take notice of her.

Katae turned to look at Oinari with her bright green eyes. She was further pleased by the fact that Oinari had chosen to bow. While she knew that regulations said soldiers could salute. It just felt too Nepleslian for her liking. She also noted the presence of the Uno glasses which seemed to fit the Nekos personality and wondered if they were actually Emrys products or some SAINT hardware.

"Welcome aboard Freyja-Hei. Due to current circumstances, I am dispensing with my traditional interview. I have an away team deployed investigating an NMX installation. The latest situation report from the team, says they have discovered prisoners being exploited. So I need you to take the our T7 Shuttle the Diligent to their location. Sakura-Jôtô Hei our ship's nurse will accompany you.

Visibility is bad so you will have to fly by instrumentation and even that is problematic. So far the accounts from the team show that the enemy has not realized that this is a Star Army incursion. Your orders are to get the Diligent to the passage that the away team used to enter and prepare to take on passengers. Sakura-Hei will stay with the shuttle, I suggest that you enter the passage and provide cover for the prisoners we are liberating.

Questions?"

"Only two Ma'am," Freyia sad shyly, "Is there a place I can place my gear and change, Second will my Flight Suit be acquit or shall I need to don an power armor to carry out this mission?" She was fighting to keep her composer as calm and direct as possible, she wanted to hide.

With out thinking about it she noticed her surrounding and studied her new commanding officer, and with those consequences ques her glasses started putting up what information it could easily gather from the ships system. All of the training she received through her early days in the Saint facilities caused her so crave the information. Though as soon as she realized what she was doing she blushed and cleared her glasses' display.

"Check out a power armor from the bay. Sakura-Hei stays on the shuttle unless there is a medical emergency. The away team consists of eight people. So I can not spare any more and have the Aeon ready for battle if necessary.

You can stow your gear in cabin 8 for now. You can also pick whatever extra weapons you want from the Armory." Katae replied.

"Yes Ma'am and thank you," Freyia bowed once again then wondered out of the bridge heading to her new quarters. once she found it she went in and shut the door. falling against the door she sighed, "That was intense." after taking a second to gather her self she threw her duffel on to one of the bunks hoping no one else had it pick out. she took her pistol and went to the armory.

Once she arrived she quickly ask the AI to help walk her through the warm up process for the Armor, she decided just to take the basic load out for them, she really didn't know what all she was going to run into out there. Freyia grabbed a Ke-M2-W2913 bull-pup assault rifle, ad three spare magazines. Setting the weapon next to the Power Armor, she turned and stared to don the armor, once everything but the helmet was on she picked up her rifle and the helmet and went to the shuttle bay.

This was some where she found comforting, sadly she wasn't in her flight suit and about to board her fighter, but hey... at least I get to fly. The Diligent was a T7, not to far off from the first shuttle she learned to fly, it was like coming home. Boarding she made her way to the pilot's seat and started the warm up sequence. She quickly asked the Aeon's AI to to notify Sakura-Hei that the shuttle was almost ready to launch, then she sent a message to the Taisa that as soon as Sakura-Hei boarded then She would be ready to launch.

Sunflower came into the shuttle bay where her power armor. She carried her medkit slung under one arm. This can not be good. The Taisa said that I was to expect casualties. But she could not say who. First mission with away teams since I joined and we injured. Nothing to do but deal with it when they get here.

She stepped into the Diligent and walked up to the cockpit. She took the seat opposite Oinari. "Hello, Sakura-Joto Hei. Lovely day for flying from what I have been told." she said trying to lighten the mood.

Shuttle Diligent

"Yes Ma'am, any day "wheels up" is a good day." Freyja said slightly timidly, as she worked her hands across the control surfaces. She closed the rear hatch and made sure that the airlock lights where green across the board. Once She finished the last of the pre-flight check she sent a message to the ship's AI that she was launching. "Here we go Ma'am."

One the craft launched she relaxed a little, few have ever really seen her like this, she had always felt better flying. The weather was truly pitiful, she brought up a infrared display and overlaid a thermal view. it helped a little but it was like putting clear glasses on in a blacked out room. She kept referring to the scans of the planet that the Aeon made on it's way in. She kept the shuttle about 100 meters off of the deck and at about 100 kph.

"Uh.. how would you like me to land this, aft to the tunnel mouth? I can give you just about any angle you wish."

Diligent

"That would be the best for efficient loading. Especially if the injured have a power armor that has been compromised." Sunflower replied. She looked out at the complete lack of visibility, the snow streaked past their windscreen.

As she neared the location she slowed and descended low enough to try to gain a visual. "Ma'am this might get a little bumpy please hold on tight." She could barely make out the ground let alone what was ahead of them, the shuttle crawled along until at last she could see the tunnels, pointing she turned to Sakura-Joto Hei "Ma'am which one do I need to park next too?" She quickly rotated the ship till the aft was pointed towards the tunnels mouths.

Sakura left the flying to the pilot, although their conditions would be enough to make any passenger nervous.

The shuttle was hovering in front of a cliff face that rose more than 300 meters composed of ice. There were a number of round holes in the cliff that opened to the surface.

"I would be careful when backing up. Anti-grav only since the surface is volatile when melted. According to the data the Taisa supplied we should land by the northern most passage that is the passage where they found prisoners." She answered.

As she hovered, Freyja flipped the engines over to anti-grav, but she left the main engines hot and ready to fire off so that she could launch as soon as needed. She carefully set the shuttle down on the deck. The aft was lined up with the northern-most tunnel almost perfectly.

"Well Ma'am this is where I have to leave to collect every one, please excuse me." She stood up and grabbed her helmet and attached it to her armor. "Please keep this door shut after I leave Ma'am, I'll knock with three quick then three long then two, and then you'll know it is me and the rest of the crew." she turned and left through the rear hatch closing it behind.

Gripping her rifle she muttered to herself, "Here we go." With that she headed down the tunnel looking for the others.

Sunflower climbed out of the cockpit, and set about preparing to receive casualties.

"Be careful. Watch what you shoot at. I really don't want to see any crew members getting seriously injured because they hit the surface of this planet." She said with a grin.

Heading down the Tunnel

Freyja started down the tunnel, She kept her rifle up and aimed along the path. She didn't know what might be ahead or what kind of trouble the Aeon's crew have gotten into, all she knew was that there were folks in trouble and she was there to rescue them. She kept her suits scanners running at full power, she didn't want to walk in to any traps. All she needed was to get killed at the moment, she wasn't sure if the Aeon had a back up saved for her.

Halfway down the tunnel Freyja HUD started giving a warning of several hot objects approaching. They were rather large in size and moving at high speed.

With her hud fireing off warnings about large things coming at her, Freyja dropped down to one knee, like she was trained to, and raised her rifle. 'god I hope this is part of the team I'm here to rescue'. she thought to herself.

From around the corner the first of the infrared signatures appeared. It was large had glowing teeth and moving fast. It was at least 1.5 meters tall, and behind it were several more just like it.

As soon as the Critters came into view, Freyja open fire on the lead. Firing at the critter's head hoping to score a quick kill and move on to the next. This was the first time she had ever fired a weapon outside of training. quick bursts was what her instructor had said, aim burst, aim burst, rinse and repeat. Her ranged weapons instructor always had such dry humor.

It actually took shooting at the creature twice to pierce its armored body. Once penetrated it exploded in a satisfactory fashion. However two of the others put on a burst of aceleration and streaked past Freyja continuing down the passage.

Freyja watched the first explode form her shooting, she was relived that her training actually worked. She quickly tried to place a bead on the next but the other two of the thing streaked past her and up the tunnel. "The shuttle door should keep the medic safe, right?" she muttered to herself. she turned and continued down the passage way, she wanted to find the others before any more things race up to attack her.
