Taisa Hanako was the first to set foot back on the freshly repaired Eucharis. Emerging from the docking tube and airlock, she was joined promptly by Charisma's welcome--a large holographic display panel showing the ship's status and an overview of supplies, which followed her around until she reached her seat on the bridge. Wasting no time, Hanako switched on her terminal and began the ship's fast startup sequence.

As the rest of the crew began to board the ship, the captain activated the ship's disguise systems, giving the Eucharis the look and signature emissions of a generic Elysian freighter before the repair bay doors were open. While she waited for the bridge crew to settle in, she anxiously looked at the clock over the viewscreen.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Sune returned to the Eucharis after completing his errands. Under his left arm he carried a package that contained his other replacement tunics, and his purchased Isolated Computer Pad. He bought the pad to use as a workspace for his ideas as well as for taking some classes to add to his skill set. He paused briefly in the vehicle bay to let the feel of the Eucharis system subharmonics wash over him. It was pleasant enough to visit the SSS and the various places I saw while performing my errands. But none of them felt like this. The only place I ever feel at home is aboard ship. he thought. Sune made his way to the cabin that he shared with Ramiro. While he hung up his new tunics and folded the old ones he thought I wonder how Valencia-Heisho and Miyazawa-Ittô Hei enjoyed their time off ship.

Sune then made his way up to the bridge. He paused before opening the door recalling the last time he was here and his encounter with Hamada-Taii. He opened the hatch and stepped onto the bridge. Seeing Hanako sitting at her station he bowed towards her, “Jalen Sune-Ittô Heisho reporting for duty Ketsurui-Taisa.” Rising back up, he looked around the bridge since this was his second time here; he mentally compared it to the one on the Paradise. “Taisa, which station would you like for me to take?” he asked with a slight smile.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Science, and don't milk it. Welcome Sune-Heisho." Misaki told the man while floating through the hatch to set down neatly on the deck. She bowed, and moved to the side of the Captain's seat. Pointing Sune in the right direction, she began to interface with Charisma to take part of the starting list checks tto herself, and feed those through Hanako's station while the Eucharis powered up. Changing her clothes had taken some time, and outside in the starbase she had to worry about the CO's to the ships they lost, to update their information more completely on her and Hanako's orders after the crew losses and to the point where they had backups.

It was only a few minutes into her uniform, but she felt better aboard the ship. Their trip to the spa had certainly brought a certain glow back to the officer, but she was ready to get back to work. The squadron never did have very long leave, it meant at least to her that the certain need to do something exciting or dangerous instilled in the Nekovalkryja ran hotter in the Ketsurui and Ketsurui models, though maybe the samurai hid it better than she had on occasions in the past.

"Propulsion - go. Sensors - go. Recheck in 30. Charisma is reporting clearance from the station. Course?" the XO asked, monitoring those that were arriving on board via the internal sensors. Very few things felt as good as being plugged into a ship that was as advanced as the Eucharis.

Kurusu's hair had been pinned up into buns again, with small pins crossed into either, let to orient them towards the back of her head, she enjoyed the stylist's pointers at the spa. I'd go back just for that, she thought, one of many trains of thought that sped through her mind at that moment.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Konoka, skipping, made her way to the ship, and once aboard, headed to the Medbay. That would probably be where her next set of orders sent her to anyway. Thinking, she realized how much she'd grown up since first coming to the Eucharis. She remembered this had been her first stop thanks to an officer's severe injuries, and how he'd told her job would be easier from thereon out. He'd been wrong. It got more worrisome every single day. Their last mission had really bothered her in particular. Sure, she hadn't had to bring back anyone else from the dead. Actually, that was kind of the problem. She had developed a bad habit of finding dead people. When she had first arrived, she'd had this idea that she would help everyone like a saint and have some sort of epic adventure. Truthfully, it wasn't that simple. She'd been getting pretty paranoid as of late.

Still, she wouldn't take back a minute of it, and she HAD helped people. It was just getting really hard to be the type of person who was incurably happy-go-lucky and skipped all the time. Yet Konoka still wanted to make the best of things, and to her knowledge, she was still happy with her life. Well, that was enough for her. Back to work, Miyazawa! she told herself. She sent to the Taisa: Konoka Miyazawa Itto-Hei reporting for duty. Have you any orders for me, Taisa?

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Ramiro stepped aboard the Eucharis and sighed. In the few months the ship had grown on him. He wandered over to his room where he quickly put a set of his new pins away in his medals box. Once finished Ramiro reported straight to the bridge and sat down at his terminal. He pulled up the usual interfaces, steering, comm, radar, and then quickly checked any updates on the war. Once everything was up he sent a quick message down to medical

Code:
Medical,

Still require memory backup.

Ramiro

He then spun around and said, "Any orders ma'am, also I still never got in for my memory backup and would like to get that done quickly."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Sune clenched his teeth slightly, and managed to keep a polite smile on his face at hearing his name once again misused. I give up, it is not worth the energy to correct people. he thought.

At Misaki’s comment about which station to take and her instructions about not lactating the console, her turn of phrase perplexed him so he turned to her and inquired, "Kurusu-Chusa as I am unfamiliar with the practice of expressing milk out of a station, perhaps you would care to explain the process fully so that I can avoid it? And if I take the Science station you indicated, then where will our other Science member Carlisle-Hei perform his duties from?"

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"I'll be sure to inform you when that's your concern, crewman. Have a seat." Misaki motioned to the station with a pleasant smile. He was the ranking man between them both, which dictated the station was his. Hanako was quiet as ever, but she looked to her instead and sent her a quiet message. "I'll explain the expression another time." She offered evenly to the new arrival.

I anticipated this, his comments aside, and with our two other operators we'll still have a station free he could use effectively - Systems and Safety operations. She suggested to the Taisa, There is always assigning him to the medical bay as well to go over more scientific data as it comes in and see to miscellaneous operations. He does have an impressive background - one that makes him somewhat more qualified for laboratory work than Sune-Heisho. At least for the time being. This is all assuming our shipwrecked survivor won't be on the bridge?

"Ramiro-Heisho, how was your leave?" The XO asked with interest. They were still getting things going after all. "Rechecks - all green." She announced after, when she finished making manual checks while interfaced with the Eucharis.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Junko stepped back into Engineering with a slight feeling of relief. Being back aboard the Eucharis – though slightly altered from the repair efforts – was as comforting a feeling as she had felt in a long time. Sparing a moment to listen to the hum permeating the compartment, she turned to warm up the main displays and hit the intercom button. “Bridge, Engineering. The Mainspace is manned and ready. Performing all-systems start-up confirmation.” The process, which largely relied on the same input and diagnostics Charisma used to start up the ship in the first place, was hardly comprehensive, but it did see Junko tour about the main level, checking individual status displays on the reactors, generators, systems, and sundries before stopping briefly on the catwalk to double check some of the larger components. After a quick peek up the ladder and through the hatch into Power Systems and at the capacitors and related systems therein, she returned to the main displays, satisfied that the green telltales across the main status board were accurate. “Bridge, Engineering. The start-up sequence is confirmed to be complete and successful. Prepared to respond to all weapons and helm input.”

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Thank you, engineering," Hanako replied, glad that everything was running smoothly down there.

"Anyone that has not had a recent backup should get one done immediately," she told Ramiro and the others.

"Misaki, meet me in the passageway outside my quarters," Hanako told her XO. It was obvious from her tone that the Taisa was not pleased. "I need to talk to you right away."

"Sune, if you do not mind standing, you can help our new science officer at the science station, or if you prefer, from the lab. It is up to you."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Weapons Operational... Helm... Operational as well." Nika announced as she went through the ship's system. Security was tighter than she thought, even with Hanako around, the Imperial Palace was off-limits. She sighed and continued to run tests, at some point looking under the console to see whether there's still any bugs around.

"Wow, they cleaned up the place pretty well..."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Sune turned to Hanako and said, “Ma’am I believe that being present on the bridge would be a better way to become familiar with ship operation. So standing is just fine.”

Meanwhile Sune tried to analyze the events since his arrival on the bridge. He was still uncertain of the exact meaning of Miski’s expression. But it was safe to presume that since she had said for him not to do it, that she for some reason felt that he would. So in effect she was saying that he would intentionally do something the other people would not. Her comment about how she would tell him where his subordinate would work when it concerned him. As the senior person in Science it did concern him where his people were expected to be. But apparently Misaki did not to agree. After watching her cordial greeting of Ramiro, Sune was left with a simple conclusion. Misaki obviously disliked Sune for some reason which he escaped him. It was now obvious to Sune she felt strongly that he had no place on the bridge. Well, I am sure Carlisle-Hei will thrilled when he learns of this turn of events, since he also does not believe I should be in Science. he thought. This is definitely not the way to start a new mission and an assignment. At least I know the proper expression to describe what I need to do, watch my back. I must make sure to give the Chusa no reason to fault my performance.

Switching his ICP on, he opened up the network connection on it. Charisma, please transfer records conforming to these search parameters, Mishhuvurthyar, parasites, trap, tactics, ship destruction, cross reference them against officers of the Eucharis, including Ketsurui Hanako, include medical records if any. There was something about the events at Nataria that still nagged at Sune, perhaps by looking at similar events he might find a discernible pattern.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Darnell didn't own much, what he did he kept in a bag and he carried it now on the ship. He wasn't sure where to put it so he kept it with him until he reached the cabins and dropped it off in a place where it would inconvenience no one. He walked onto the ship, looking around. This was where he would be for a while. That was the sum of his opinion of his new ship.

He walked up onto the bridge to get a look at it, and came on to see Sune at the science station. Of course he was. Darnell wanted to sigh or shake his head or something but any of those could be taken as signs of the bad attitude he had. Darnell tried to sound friendly but it sounded just a bit forced, "Milking it for what it's worth, eh Heisho?"

He looked around the bridge, taking it all in. He wasn't sure what his place would be. If he was just to sit down in the medical bay and pretend it was a laboratory he didn't think he would savor this assignment. Then again, maybe they would send him planet side. That wouldn't be so bad. Of course, planet side included many of the more unpleasant aspects of nature... but he needed to get more used to that anyway. He didn't savor the idea of infantry battles, either, he didn't want his new body broken like the old one.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Sune looked up from his ICP while standing next to the Science station, when he heard Darnell’s comments. He had enough of Darnell’s attitude towards him in regards to his new position; it was time to put an end to it. “Excuse me Carlisle-Santô Hei, is that how they taught you to address a ranking soldier when reporting for duty. I am currently performing my duties, and do not appreciate your flippant attitude.”

Sune then grossed the bridge to stand in front of Darnell. “Stand At Attention Santô Hei! I am only going to say this one time. The Taisa has already made it clear that she feels that I am qualified to perform my duties. I am weary of your snide comments and condescending behavior. You will either check your attitude at the door, or so help me you will spend your time taking swabs of every surface of the Eucharis’s interior, grow cultures from them in the Medbay, and identify every fungi, and virus by kingdom, phylum, family and genus before you ever set foot on this bridge again. Have I made myself clear Santô Hei?”

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

( Placeholder for Hanako and Misaki's talk, since I'm sick of waiting for her. )

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

When Hanako returned to the bridge, she immediately began her briefing over the ship's intercom. "Star Army Intelligence and Star Army Command speculate that Veritas, in Elysian space, is the next major target of the Mishhuvurthyar, given the Mishhuvurthyar strategy of attacking shipyards and ship depots. These shipyards have information and persons that should not allowed to fall into enemy hands, including teleportation units and plans for high-end Elysian starships. Our mission is to quietly and stealthily beat the Mishhuvurthyar to Veritas, extract the VIPs, and plant charges on the shipyard computers that we detonate should the Mishhuvurthyar begin to win a battle there."

"Also," Hanako noted, "Taii Hamada will not be on our crew for this mission...she has been assigned to pilot the new Plumeria-class YSS Vesper for its shakedown cruise. It will replace a destroyed ship in our squadron when it is certified as ready."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Wearing his new uniform and rank pin hustled through the Eucharis corridors, he threw his duffle bag casually into the corner of the wardroom, ...that should be fine for now, but I really need to find out about some quarters. He then quickly made his way to the bridge hearing the captains announcement, and prepared himself on the way, by dry swallowing a couple of pills from a vitamin bottle and quickly eating a small 'energy bar' that were stored in a small pouch pocket on his belt before reaching the bridge and standing at attention.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Mikael entered the Eucharis through the docking tube with his duffel bags. He wondered the ship for a few moments before he found an out of the way place to place his bags. He noticed that he was close to the hanger bay and decided to pay it a visit since he would be spending a lot of time working with what every Daisy they assigned to him. "Might as well get familar with the place since I am here" he thought to himself.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Darnell seemed surprised but remained calm, he went to attention when he was told to. He thought, The Taisa can't bend the laws of the universe can she? Then you're not a scientist. He said, without a hint of malice this time, "Heisho. If you wished to be addressed differently, please tell me how. And, furthermore, if you would please point out to me exactly what I have said that is condescending or snide, I would be most appreciative. I will readily apologize for each instance." It didn't appear Sune's threats had made much of an impression on him, his tone was steady and normal. Not even smug, just normal.

Darnell thought, And it's unlikely that I'll be setting foot on this bridge again anyway. Threatening at a lower crewman was a sign of insecurity in Darnell's mind, the Heisho needed to reaffirm his position as higher than Darnell because he wasn't qualified to be there. He simply stood there, waiting for the Heisho to dismiss him or threaten him more.

When Hanako announced their new mission he thought, Baku baku, but didn't turn from the Heisho.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Welcome aboard, more formally this time. You're looking better. Are you adjusting well? What do you need, Yarani-hei?" Misaki asked. Her return from the talk didn't show on her face, though she was troubled it was never good to let the crew know it if you could help it. They were more important than her feelings about coddling enlistees and how it failed them. There was being nice, and well...stop. You'll just get yourself flushed, and who knows what they'll think about that! You could end up with someone having a crush on you again! The XO breathed out, and smiled lightly at the grey-paneled man, waiting for a reply.

Another quiet mission. SAINT must be terribly busy...or have been already silenced to within operational problems. Maybe they only really trust us to get the items without peeking at the files? Her mind raced. This one might have her going out again, another vault into darkness, if all went wrong like it normally did the second an action went from routine to a mission where battle was imminent. She had known about it only as much as Hanako had left for her to know.

"Quick start is complete. Stations are still reporting in. Thank you, Charisma." Kurusu smoothly announced. Even if most of the bridge crew knew, it was another of those procedures you performed aboard a ship that had a reason, even if sometimes it seemed a bit out of sort.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Thank you" Tasuku said bowing to the Chusa quickly, but still deep enough to be respectful, "I was hoping to receive a duty assignment, and its not immediately important but I haven't received a bunk assignment yet".

Tasuku smiled back lightly at the seemingly cheerful officer. He appeared far better than his first encounter with the crew, his eyes bright and his hair much neater. She seems like a good officer to work under, he thought, remembering such intimidating officers as Taisa Sydney.
