Cora and Kotori, you are both off topic. This has nothing to do with the speed. No speed is listed so that can be delt with on a ship by ship basis. This argument about FTL speeds has no place here.

It DOES have a place here. Since this is a FTL system. It needs a celing speed. Otherwise you have carte blance to give it any speed you deem warented. Which with all your submissions, are excessivly idiotic!!

And spin on your hand for all I care about off topic. This damn thing can do SIX things. Anything about those six topics are ON TOPIC IN THIS THREAD.

I concur with Cora.

Allow me to grant you some perspective Uso: this thread is now completely hijacked. It is now my playground. You can share it if you wish, but I have terms.

I moderate the tech forum. Aside from Wes owning the site and being able to veto me out, this is my technical submission board. And I don't like what I see in here and I have grown beyond weary of seeing the same shit turn up over and over again.

I will burn what I don't like and I will promote what I like. It is as simple as that. This goes for everyone. You can't even appeal to Wes: I know this is something he's wanted for some time and I will make it happen.

Therefore, I have enforced standards. These are the new rules. You like rules, don't you? You like backing up to them? Well, I made new ones for you to follow and you will have to if you want to have any hope of your stuff being approved. Wes is nice in giving you the benefit of the touchy-feely approach, but I have hit the rock bottom of my tolerance with that sort of crap and you will not be able to get this past me.

Not. Ever. Again.

Therefore Zack, you'll have to convince me that your NERD is a good addition to the Star Army roleplay. If I say it isn't so, you'll have to make it that way or not see it be approved. If I don't like it, then it isn't getting in the roleplay and it no longer has anything to do with feasibility - to has to do with good taste and efficiency and your capacity to be reasonable and use your common sense for once.

I want to see your stuff get a significant bloody toning down. Now. What I care about are the speed performance of the ships equipped with that NERD device. I can discuss it over with you and revisit with you in this thread and help you this way. Zakalwe has tried to work with me and his submissions shined for it - the Elysians thus benefit from them. The same can go with you.

Some compared Wes to the God of the SARP. Well, if Wes is God, then, I am Jesus. Listen to me and be saved. Don't and be damned.

Simple, isn't it?

I'm making this post to ask that when the votes are counted, consider mine a vote of yes. I have thought about all that has been said in this 'debate', and asked my questions of Zack, which he was more than happy to explain to me, the most UNtech of people here.

Wiith the new knowledge and understanding that he gave me, while this is a 'top shelf' innovation, I have to say that I do like it. It's something new, and new is good. Yes, it is powerful, but unlike what happened with the magic on Kohana, I am willing to sit back a little bit and see what happens, give Zack a chance to prove that NERD is something that can be made to work, instead of saying "Oh no, this is powerful and may take the focus off the way I want to tell my story", and ruin another fellow writer's game experience.

Don't get me wrong, I have my apprehension that this could be something that could come back to bite me in the....well yeah, but I have faith that the creativity of those on this board, and of Zack himself, would be able to overcome. To very loosely quote Thad from WAAAAAAAAY back when I first joined the board, and just now it is sinking in with all I am trying to do with Kohana, and I think it applies here,

"If you tell others what you want them to do for your plot, you might as well be just writing a story by yourself. This is roleplay, where there is free will, and shit is gonna happen, and you're going to have to deal with it and learn ways around it."

It's midnight! Everyone can go grab a cold one and sit back and relax now.

The submission was narrowly defeated, and thus will remain Not Approved.

As per SARP policy, a significantly modified version of the submission can be posted once the two week time limit expires.

Thank you all for participating!

The only problem we have here is two things:

1. Uso approves a technology that does many useful things and takes one nation's tech development in a different direction. Looks good. (I voted yes, btw. I think the technology is extremely creative and useful.)

2. Uso gets overzealous with his recently-approved tech and slams the forum with a lot of submissions that use the technology. People scream and moan because it's showing that the 'limited production' aspect of it is being ignored. These complaints seem unjust because it I, and I alone, control the manufacturing process of said designs.

It looks like the NERD won't be approved because of these two issues.

A lot can be learned from this issue.

Players, please understand that Uso is not a person hellbent on destroying the universe. He's NOT trying to make Nepleslia "super leet haha" and smash everything. He's just a player who likes to design technology and see it in action. I'm in constant communication with him and hold the keys to the manufacturing process of technology, so PLEASE don't gang up on him and hate him like you always do.

Uso, please try to exert a measure of discipline in your technology submissions, understand that people are going to be suspicious of you, and show restraint (in regard to maximums) in your new submissions. You're a brilliant designer and a good roleplayer. I want to see you succeed.

That is all.
