[NSMC 309th] Mission 2: Creating Hope

Fort Puckett

It had been about a month of R&R and body clean-up later, the early YE 39 starshine on the corporate-owned mega-city deflecting off the hazy smog and down onto the fortress. Even after a month of the year gone by, recovering and working, the scars of the battle were still present. Segments of wall were still plastered in stained gore, some sections of the steel looked drastically newer than the older parts that remained. The interior was devoid of the many bodybags and there was, at last, some semblance of hope for the locals.

The box that had carried the 309th platoon down was now fully opened, segments taken apart to allow windows and shade among a canopy of netting and the sparks of workers. The Aggressor that had been returned to the group stood out, positioned on a Power Armor station that was hastily working the massive suit over. A solid month of fine-tuning had brought the dust-covered suit back to the edge of readiness, the cobra and hazard signs on it painted to brilliant hues. It looked like the veteran death-suit it was.

The Sōkō Neko was under light repairs from the support elements of the platoon, extensive work having been put forward to strip the old beast down and inspect its internals after its many harrowing instances in the battle from a month ago. Juno was absent from his machine this day, however, along with the active squad and his crew. An order had brought about the arrival of many individuals to assist the crew, the pair of them arriving about a week ago.

The section of the boxes that had become the platoon bunks was where he came first, the man tugging at the collar of what was a new jacket that all the crewmen were encouraged to wear. It was a bit tight around the neck, but the overall uniform ensured that the tank crew never had temperature bother them.

"Alright 309th! I need my grunts and crew from the battle to get their asses up and follow me! If you're lifting weights, put them down. If you're cleaning your gun, bring it with you or leave it. We've got an important meeting today. I don't want any fuck-arounds, overs, unders, or any of that. If we play our cards right, we're going to go looking for scum today!"

Minnie had to shield her cybernetic eyes from the blinding glare of the sun she had to remind herself that the pain from the brightness was just a ghost of a feeling. That her eyes would simply just adjust to and dim the brightness if she'd let them.

The sun seemed so exceptionally bright to her because she had spent the majority of the past month in the surgical and medical facilities within the HQ. The aftermath of the battle had seen more than its fare share of casualties diverted to the more advanced facilities and more well trained staff within. And Minnie had jumped at the chance to operate, Even despite the fact that the surgical space she had commandeered for herself when she had been deployed had been snatched away from her the moment she was evicted from the HQ to go play war.

The young doctor, surgeon, and medic had gained valuable incite and experience from her operations. There where a million theories and techniques she still needed to try out and to practice in the application of cybernetics and augmetics, But she knew those would take time and funding. And as long as she had a constant supply of wounded in need of fingers, limbs and organs, And the 309th's operating budget to tap into there wouldn't be a problem.

Except for the part where she had been sent out to fight, Though that had brought on experiences of its own that she wasn't all ungrateful for.

Now she was being summoned again by her commanding officer, And if she even spoke to him at all after the battle she didnt know. All she remembered was a lot of shooting, a lot of yelling. And eventually crashing from an adrenaline high onto someones bunk once she finally got back to the fort and stripped herself of the cumbersome Golem armor.

"Mornin, Lieutenant Janus" Minnie squeaked upon her arival, Offering a tired salute, and shuffled off after her commander.

Joe knew he was a last minute addition to this crew and they had already been through the grind but he made sure that he fit in casually. Upon introductions to the others earlier that week he simply gestured generally at his face saying, "I know what you are all thinking, how did a guy this good looking get into your squad. It's totally due to my personality." That and a quick smile had assuredly landed him in their good graces.

And now, even before the Lieutenant showed up Joe was lounging in a hammock just having a bit of a snooze when his ears perked up. He fumbled out of the hammock as is standard with those damn things and saluted. Maybe he got an odd look but in fact he had heard Jano coming thanks to the man absentmindedly tapping his metal fingers together.

Sure enough the Lieutenant came around the corner barking and Joe just smiled broadly, gestured to the others and began to follow Juno.

Fredrica, or Fitz as she wanted to be called, had been added to the team during the down time. She had introduced herself plainly for the most part but she made an appeal to the squad that if anyone had any unique and strong guns, to let her see it sometime. As she explained this, she had quite the look in her eyes and a promise of a 'sexy reward' for it. This somewhat eccentric individual wore the crew jacket, so she was part of the tank crew.

When Juno showed up, Fitz was not present in the bunks, rather she was with the tank. Juno was informed about Fitz' personality beforehand so he knew she would be with the tank so with a simple call she was ordered to the meeting location. She would arrive with a uniform so neat and tidy that it was hard to believe that she had been wearing it all day in the heat. What ever the reason though, the corporal ignored that their uniform looked like it just got ironed and waited.

Fort Puckett, Earlier that Morning 0700

" 'Ey! No cutting in line!", "Go suck a fat one! I've been up since 0400! I deserve some grub!" "No more than the rest of us!" The heat hadn't given them too much relieve even in the early hours of the morning on this planet, and tensions grew on empty stomachs. What looked like might have devolved into an exchange of blows between two new Privates, was halted when the shadow of a man and familiar face appearing before them. Private First Class, Cook Mallan standing a good foot taller than the both of them glared at them. Word may have spread of the cook that jumped into an Aggressor that had been laying dormant for years before going toe-to-toe with a Hostile clad sniper with nothing but knife and half a six pack. Others say it was the roar of the half-IDSOL that made the sniper hesitate before the cook tore him open. Either way, the two trouble makers weren't making a fuss as Fergus sat them down and gave them both a tray with oatmeal with four slices of bacon. "I understand that tensions are high right now, we haven't had a good fight in month, so you get a pass," he explained over top of them before leaning down softly saying, "but if I ever catch you causing trouble in my meal line again, you both will be my new turrets on the Aggressor. And you'll be naked." He left at that and served breakfast as his duty.

Fort Puckett, 0Yelling00

Fergus was at his bunk, issuing service orders for the food portion of the company. Turns out logistics can be a bit tougher than others would lead on. Also, there was his side project: The Aggressor. While he had not received word if he'd pilot it again, the cook had done some reading up on it in the month that had passed. He had figured out how many sandwiches you can fit in the front compartment, and was working on some similar adjustments to it. Perhaps trying to free up some space for beer in there in case someone gets thirsty. But how would it keep cold? No one wants warm beer, well maybe the desperate do. But it's my job to make sure they're not desperate.

As Juno rounded the bend, Fergus snapped to attention and saluted. Thankfully he was dressed in the attire needed for a meeting, albeit a few grease stains here and there from the grill, and he did smell a bit like B.O. and coffee grinds. This had been his first break of the day since he woke up.

Ella had spent most of her R&R away from the others. The two new people reminded her of the preppy people form her high school days and the fact that the one named Fitz was going to be around the Sōkō Neko along with the Sōkō Neko going under repairs, Ella quickly gathered up all the pictures of Hanako and the little Hanako before making a small little hovel in a forgotten area of the base's requisitions. With no one to bother her and a time to kill, she pulled out her Datajockey and spent the R&R alone, watching as much anime as she her little Datajockey and the base's InterNEP connection would allow her. It was very rare she ever left the her little hiding spot, occasionally turning in the crew's bunks for a night before disappearing for a couple days.

As the the tank driver was about to start up another season Crimson Flames, there was a familiar booming through the walls. A booming not of booms, but of her tank commander wanting something. With a silent curse and an off click of her datajockey, Ella stood up and tried straightening out her uniform with her hands before placing the little Hanako doll in her pants' cargo pocket. Skulking out of the requisitions area, Ella spotted the the boisterous Juno and the gaggle of the tank crew and the infantry compliment. She sheepishly and silently tagged along with the group, taking up the rear as they followed Juno.

"~And here are your horoscopes for July 30th, YE39!~" The earbuds spoke in a cheery voice, announcer giving their all to instill their audience with arcane mystery and wonder. "~Scorpio; A hairy back may trouble you this week, especially if it's not your hairy back that's in question!~"

Fang Yin paused lifting a 30kg dumbbell mid-raise for just a moment, trying to figure out if that was a hidden message, or a source of divination that was far too specific. The cratered hide of this outland world certainly could get hairy. If she was attacked by some kind of genetically engineered man-bear, too, that would not be out of the question these days... Indeed, could one ever really know the follicles of a man's obscured sin?...

Yelling! The hulking woman was too stuck in the moment to realize it was her superior officer, but noticed the boots of Ella and one of the newcomers following him past. Utterly living in the moment, Fang simply dropped the weights onto the floor and arose, following the building line of soldiers as they united to begin the meeting.

"Private Minnie!" The mouth of the husky woman moved before her brain had even constructed a sentence. They hadn't seen them much since the mission had ended and they went back to their own duties, but was eager to learn more about their partner during that last grim firefight. "You're still being assigned to us? I knew I had a good feeling about you!"

A moment of self-awareness, before quickly plucking their headphones out and zipping the newfangled jacket up to the collar. They didn't exactly need a cybernetic nose to smell the fact Fang had just been pumping iron...

Still, what would they prefer? A soldier who smells like sweet peas and lavender, or a soldier who can punch through car doors?

Minnie had recently grown aware of the group that had been silently growing in size and had accompanied her in awkward silence after their commanding officer and had been looking for some way to drift from the front of the group when someone called after her. Grateful for the excuse Minnie quickly recognized Fang-Yin Zhou from her medical profile she had gone through after the battle a month prior and quickly dropped back to join her.

"Private Zhou," Minnie returned the greeting, Admiring the woman's imposing physique. Even without the bulk and size of the Golem armor Fang dwarfed the slight-built doctor by over a foot and easily out sized her in other aspects Minnie noticed with a double take to the woman's chest and her muscles large enough to crush her head like a fruit.

"I think the Lieutenant might have stolen me from the support unit again, Yeah. The unit seems to be severely lacking in active medical personnel. And i didn't die last time so guess i fit the bill." Minnie chuckled worryingly, meaning to add her gratitude that it was mostly thanks to Fang that she wasn't the 309th's first casualty of the operation but found herself somewhat embarrassed by her actions, Fang had even butchered her hairat one point to tie a tourniquet for her because she had been too much of a coward to dive into oncoming fire like she had.

"This gets easier, Right?"

Fort Puckett, Outside

With everyone in tow, Juno did little beyond toss nods. The platoon support staff watched on as the group headed out of their set-up camp, a mix of good and bad looks. One could swear one hunk was even looking at Ella's ass while calling her a cat-lover. Fitz and Fang were also getting equal attention compared to their medical mouse, but the talk had ensured the group had a reputation. The platoon had quite the shake-up power just with presence among the untested support elements.

Juno led the group through the courtyard of training and busy militia, the group in a mix of jobs. Some were training new recruits from the planet's slums or most patriotic rising to join, while others geared up for their own patrols. Violetta's Assets was working itself into a secured part of the planet based on the success of the rejuvenated defense force. The mega corporations had even stepped up to outfit them with plenty of dusters, helmets and masks, with more modern ballistic vests. Their weapons were still a cherry pick of rifles of kinetic and energy-based variations, but their tactics were becoming better. Especially thanks to the survival of the elites. The one-armed ID-SOL bore a thick robotic replacement, a bulky local-made shoulder making him almost like some early-industrial machine. The two agile survivors were devoid of their gear, both of them fighting in a dirt pit with spectators and other spars around them. Both women were fighting tits-out, small B cups on one while the other had no fleshy mounds but rather a metal torso. The small-cheated woman had the exact same right half of her metal-torso companion, but the left-side was fixed with a metal jaw and eyepiece. The trio were cybernetic badasses like a proper marine, likely thanks to having been some. All three retired along with the deceased partners and came to New Bernese a few YE ago. Now it was just them defending their home.

Fort Puckett, Militia HQ Building

The group didn't get to stop though. Juno walked them through the chaos, into the HQ building. Walls covered in displays and equipment, each room but the hallways packed tight with staff. The planetary campaign was being mostly run here... under the command of a rosy-haired woman who was eye-to-eye with a much larger and gruff soldier. The gruff man was the militia garrison trainer, a bald head and lofty mustache of grey making his age obvious. But the spritely redhead on a stool was the Nepleslian's reason for silence. She wore a simple business jacket and a short skirt, the plastic of her legs obvious from the lower thigh making her prosthetic easy to spot. Not that her stockings riding well into the hem of her skirt made it terribly simple to identify.

She leaned her olive, effeminate face youthfully to stare down the old general while tapping a data pad in her hand.

"By Luca's black panties, I need that area scouted."

"Governor, I-," the old man looked to the group as Juno furrowed his brows, "Think you have guests."

"I might have guests, but I need those reports. Get them." She didn't even look at the group yet, simply drawing the old man's gaze and a sigh before he bowed out. As he left, Juno led them fully into a war room lacking tons of people. The Governor's stool and a large planetary hologram was in the middle, plenty of seats scattered about.

"Alright, 309th... take your seats. We should have another local like the Governor arriving to join us... once she's here and we're ready, then we can talk about our new mission. Try not to break anything... or each other."

Joe blinked rapidly behind his thick glasses as he laid eyes on the Governor and could not stop himself from giving her at least a once over. His usual smile was present as he nodded and went and sat in the second row of seats. He was casual and waved to those who showed up. So far he was a fan of those he found himself in the 309th with, the rumors about some of them really helped to show him that these folks don't mess around.

"I wonder what fun and games they have planned for us. Can't wait to get crammed into that tank with you all," He said as if it were indeed going to be a fun time.

"Sorry hun, the best you can honestly hope for is just getting used to it." Fang Yin answered Minnie's question with honesty, hovering one hand above the more lithe, spoon-shaped woman's upper back. It was clear that they were a little mystified by the medic's blue glowing augments, and thus ended up looking at Juno's back instead. "But if something isn't hard, that means you're not learning anything, right?... Never mind all that, anyways. You really covered my back out there. I still appreciate that."

Silent upon entering the meeting room. They had little idea who these superiors were, and thus decided maximum respect mode was worthwhile, just in case. "Yessir." Ended up being the simple response to her lieutenant, before the soldier briskly found a seat of her own.

And, then, there was that odd charmy guy again. Huh. Guess he's in the unit now, too.

"So I take it you're a turtle-man too?" Fang Yin made a wide-eyed face, rather innocent, and more than a little out of place considering the hideous creak of protest from the chair she perched upon. In actuality, his oversized glasses had made her assume he was a technician at first glance. "I guess it figures. This is supposed to be an armored division, after all."

"I'm Zhou. Pleasure to meet you. I don't fit in the tank." A small smile, before turning back towards the lighter built woman. "And this is... Erm, Valen... tine?... Yeah?...Wasn' it?..."

Autumn had spent what had felt like forever planet side on New Bernese working with the rag tag group that formed the militia. The militia had lacked many resources, budget, equipment and well-trained men but she had been used to working with less. She had done her best to train the militia. After the madness on Rok'Veru with the NMX, she was simply grateful to have an enemy with a face again although she missed her comrades dearly. Marines are never destined to stay together forever as a squad so it was a matter of time that she was separated from them again.

When she had been notified that her request to join the 309th had been approved, she was almost giddy with excitement. She had never worked with a tank squadron before but she was looking forward to being a Marine again. The Geshrin demolitions specialist had woken early that morning and started her maintenance routine on her kit, long before she had received the order to muster with the squad. She was still wearing her Golem armor when she quietly joined the 309th Marines in the war room with her helmet tucked under her arm and her shoulder length hair pulled back into a low ponytail.

She felt more at ease standing in her armor than sitting in her uniform. Her deep green eyes scanned the faces of the 309th as she waited for the brief to start before her gaze stopped on her new commanding officer. "Private First Class Wilde, reporting for duty, as directed, Sir!" The Marine sounded off quickly, drawing herself to attention and rendering the Lieutenant a formal salute with her free right hand.

"Doctor Valentine, 309th Surgical support" Minnie claimed her introduction triumphantly, taking her seat beside Fang. Putting as much emphasis on the title of Doctor and not her actual rank of private as she could, She hadn't gone a year at NepMed and gotten licensed and recognized as a doctor to not throw its weight around whenever she was able.

Smugness and little triumphs aside, Minnies non-existent Cybernetic/Augmetic radar had begun to alert her to the presence of enhanced beings closer to perfection than her in her proximity, Causing the medic to take a double take around the room. While she knew the Lieutenant sported a unique hand that she was still thinking of an excuse to take an examined look at, And Fangs medical profile told her that she had a more advanced eye than either of hers. Minnie was still in the dark about the rest of the 309th, Finding the amount of enhanced individuals in the NSMC she was allowed to study and possibly improve upon was simply overwhelming for the technophile obsessed with augmenting and perfecting others, While being only normal and imperfect herself, Sub her eyes at an entry level stage. Still left her like a kid in a candy shop none the less.

She glanced at the governess briefly, hopping at least someone as powerful as her would have embraced some higher living enhancements like her people or at least her militia, but found her wanting at first glance and moved on, Though she was curious about her legs. Minnie made a mental note about possible replacements befitting of a planetary governess and how much funding she could get in the process for said designs, Filing them away for a later date.

Maybe something with attachable heels and a built in 45.
she mused to herself silently.

Fort Puckett, Militia HQ Building

Fitz eyed around the base as they walked, before she transferred here she had not been given a proper report on the situation so the ratio of militia to soldiers was a little surprising. In a way though, it meant she would have more opportunities to fire the main gun, so she was rather happy about it. She could also poke around and see if there were any gun enthusiast, and make a few trades with them, it was going to be fun to operate on this planet and Fitz planned to make the most of it.

The sight inside the HQ amused her as well letting a "Don't forget to lick her shoes." slip out in jest as the militia man passed them by.

She stepped in to the room fully afterwards and made her way over to the seats. She had no intention of just standing around if asked to sit, so she sat down next to Joe. She already knew he was part of the tank crew, so she decided to tease him some. "Oh you can't wait to get stuffed in a cramped hot room with a bunch of guys?" She chuckled, not concerned with if he knew she was on the crew, or that she was wearing a crew jacket.

Fort Puckett

Fergus followed the lieutenant through the fort towards the meeting room. His eyes didn't wander too much while they were walking, he had seen everyone more than once a day serving up their meal, and had dealt a punch or two to anyone that would give him lip about the food quality. However, his eyes did linger a bit on the fighting pit where two women fought while the ID-SOL overlooked, but he was more interested in the women fighting. Hmm, half nude wrestling? When did that start being a thing? he wondered as he started to plan his schedule to make room for it in the future.

Upon entering the room, and other introductions were done, Fergus offered a salute, "Private First Class Fergus Mallan, cook for the 309th," to the governor. He headed over to where the others were sitting, and overhearing their conversation as he sat down near them, "You won't find me in the tank either. In fact, with any luck, I'll be in a different piece of machinery alongside you all." He took out a ham and cheese sandwich with Djion mustard on it that had been sealed in foil and began to munch on it while they waited.

Joe was just beside himself as he got to get to know his fellow mates a little better. He held up his hands as if in mock surrender at Valentine, "Oh, Doctor. of course. i won't be forgetting that. Zhou, great to meet you. You are part of our boots ont he ground? You certainly look like you pack quite the Nepleslian punch if you don't mind me saying,"

He turned to Fitz as she sat beside him, "I sure am. I am going to be loading for 'ol Maximus. I'm sure we will all become a tight crew."

Fort Puckett, Militia HQ Building

Ella simply sat in the back, trying to silently brush off the comments and stares she was given on her way to with the crew. With the new people talking about being cause a grimace to start forming as she listened. More people in the tank meant less room for shrine to grow. It also meant mean sweat and condensation and the lamination and tape of the photos could only hold on for so long without more people hooting and hollering with Juno.

Still, at least her own little replica of heaven would be safe no matter what. She reached down to pat the little doll it's Type 36 cap and quietly waited for the briefing to begin.

"At ease," Juno raised his robotic hand in a return salute before moving to put his things down and take up opposition of the group and at the Governor's side. The woman spared a turn of her fiery-head in their direction, the light from the table better illuminating her darkish toned skin. Beneath her eyes were small strips of machinery, humming to life as a holographic overlay was projected in front of them effectively like a pair of digital glasses. But it wasn't her sight being aided, rather miniature readouts of their dossiers popping up.

"Hmf~," she ran a finger from the top of her nose to the tip with a small tap to make her digital imagery shimmer, "These are capable soldiers? They certainly seem to be true Nepleslians."

Having to gently dismount her stool, the woman slid it away and moved to the table's edge, running one of her fingertips along its border to allow its holographic to re-focus as her tablet was sat down. Raising her now two free hands outward, she gave it a hard swipe that was clearly more for show than necessity, allowing the world to spin around on its axis before both hands expertly extended to halt it. Juno wasn't even focusing on it yet, silently crossing his arms for the moment. The expert holograph-worker kept on with the process with much smaller swipes in opposing directions, zooming in and in upon the planet's fine stretches. It was only as their current location came up that their battleplan flickered into a two dimensional map chart.

"I've begun recruitment drives through the slums, where most of our non-corporate and foreigners come and get caught in the corporate tourist trap, so it may be that there will be some more Militia forces to assist you soon. We've begun heavily mining and the ship in orbit has decided to cover the northern straight... as such, I need your platoon to push through Violetta's Tubes. I've highlighted, in particular, a scenic bend."

"That's because she wants us to promote the idea that the NSMC are here to win their world back for them." Juno's voice came out gruffer than usual, the man taking off his cap and throwing it across the room so that it bapped Fitz right as she started her chuckle-worthy joking. "And that means no sassing the locals. They're already incapable on the majority, but it's people like that fucking old wizard of a 'general' that we didn't have to blast holes in the surface just to get a landing area. So I want everyone on their best during transit."

Taking all but a moment to get a confirming nod from a now smiling and quite pleased-with-herself governor, the lieutenant reached out and tapped the checkered line to the west of the slums.

"I want everyone to familiarize yourself with this. This is a corporate funded defensive wall that has kept the slums protected. It curves far out and forces the pirates deep into corporate guarded territory. It's why they concentrated their firepower on the fort. They figured the militia would be easy... but they were wrong. With their northern approach and attempt smashed, and the Hray in orbit with full inspections running, their chances to attack are lost."

Tapping the lines with a rather comical moment of his metal hand going through it and almost breaking the image down entirely, the map finally zoomed in with images of the walls. They were massive, standing at an impressive thirty feet with heavy tower-mounted guns.

"Walls like this kept Bernese safe despite known Red-presence... and it sure as hell fucked up anyone like these pirates trying to fly over it. We're heading through one of its northern gates, while the platoon secures the segment of the wall as a proper FOB. This will be the late part of our new deployment. I want everyone to rest up, find members of the militia to get on our side and be ready for accountability within the deployed forces traveling with us. These guys might be worse off than we are, but they're our allies. We need them to not buckle and we need to promote their competent men and women so that our offensive carries momentum until the General arrives with a detachment from the Wolf Pack to ferry in the rest of the 309th."

Long-winded speeches over, the veteran tanker turned his gaze to the new arrival.

"Private First Class Wilde was a member of another group, but was transferred from planetary advice back into active duty. We need far more firepower, so our infantry group will be supported by a secondary explosives expert." His hand waved out toward her as his gaze turned back to all of them and finally rested on Joe. "Our new loader Joe and our gunner Fitz you should at least know the face of by now are here to ensure the tank is operating at full status."

The Governor seemed ready to interject now, moving to tap the line showing the group's movement beyond the gate.

"The reason for this is because I requested the assistance of the Nepleslian government... and for once, they listened. You all were brought here under-armed, as your Lieutenant tells me... but I can fix that. We have had various suits, distributed to our planet as training resources, spread across our militia defensive line. I've mustered these to be called back... and from what I heard, these originally belonged to your unit anyway. All I ask in return is for you to search in this direction and recon the pirate's strengths. In particular, I believe one of their lieutenants is there. If we can capture them, we can get a lead into where the Fatnecks are camping their ships and gathering their war parties at for their harassment of Puckett."

The hologram flickered out, the redhead's little slits powering down to allow them to see her emerald-green eyes in full. They were either the eyes of the best politician or someone truly genuine, the woman grabbing her tablet and clearing her throat before finally speaking up rather weakly.

"I... ask this... despite the faith I have in my people. New Bernese has been my-... our dream. The corporations already set us back... but if we can win this and gain control of the resources that are locked in the territories of the mountains? Then I can finally do my job... and make this planet a gem of Nepleslia. All I ask is that you all continue your fight... and I will see to it that the officials who have pull begin to treat your group with the respect it deserves."

Militia HQ

"Sir?" Minnie shot her hand up, sensing that the lieutenant and governess where done with their briefing. "If its at all possible I'd like to perform an autopsy on a subject that hasn't been cleft in twain or caved in by explosives and munitions or prematurely cremated, It could give us an edge to know the quality of their enhancements and their current health status. I mean, Even alive would be preferable to answer questions pertaining to their diets and medical history."

Minnie knew some of those answers already, Through reports from the other reserve medical staff but hadn't been able to perform one herself. She could hazard a guess that pirates and renegades from DioN and other governments always found unique and unthought of ways to enhance and augment themselves with what they have on hand, An interesting and possibly vital research material for someone in Minnie's trade when attempting to make a breakthrough in the field of bionics and augmetics.

Fitz did not notice the hat tossed her way and became the victim of criminal hat tossing. She was a soldier though so she did not let the hat fall to the ground and instead turned to Juno and stuck her tongue out. "You need to work on your hat toss, you'd never make it in a strip club." She threw that last part in intentionally just to see who would bite.

But her attention soon turned back to Joe and she gave him a pat on the shoulder "I'm sure it will be tight."

She stifled another laugh and then sat back to listen to the 'briefing' in a serious capacity. She could continue her jokes and still follow along easily but she wasn't sure how much Juno would let her get away with just yet.

After it all, the directions were clear, and her distaste for the governor was as well. The reason for that was what wasn't clear, Fitz couldn't shake the fact that the woman was lying about something but whether that her hiding information of the false sincerity was unclear. Either way Fitz did not like it one bit, but for now she kept her mouth shut.
