I believe a person can have three concurrent STs of their choosing in the SA's records. Miles had selected one that was unaware of secrets, and a mentally stable one as well.

Yaichiro has one that is from when he was "born" (Yuji's), one that is most recent, and one "Empty Slot".
 
People do not usually have access to ST backup. ST backups can be made at... well, fricking high price and held for a time by continuous payment. If you're a citizen and that you fail to make your scheduled payment, say BYEBYE to your backup.

That Yuji had access to one meant his family was stinking rich.

Enlisted personnel in the Star Army, I believe, should not have access to ST backups as well. This only starts becoming more important when the person gains ranking and actually becomes experienced, or that the person will participate to high-risk missions, or that the commander is short on personnel and simply can't afford losing any of his staff.

Soul Backups are priviledges, not rights. And I'm certain even Starship MEGAMI Integrated Electronic Suites have better things to do than keep more than one version of a crewmember's ST backup - not to mention I do not believe Miles manifested that he made different backups at any time - he just did them.

So, the Miles in there is our current Doctor Gunn. Even if he is respawned, his mental state will be just like how he was when he was transfered, which means he'll go fucknuts again. And his previous body isn't recuperable anymore - irradiated, long dead.

Excuse me while I derail this line of thought with a nod in the good Doctor's direction, but I've a character that has been ready to join for about a month now, I think. I'm curious as to when it'll happen.

I was kind of expecting a PM or something, I guess, I don't know. Sorry about that, but it wasn't very clear to me as to where or how my character should show up. Halp, maybe, and I can remedy the situation?]

In reference to Fred's comment, the Hikaris are business owners. They are indeed stinking rich.

I thought multiple ST backups were doable, because no one ever contested it the entire time I was on the Sakura as far as I was aware. I thought 3 was the limit.

As a newb, I am unaware if this is already in place. Its my newbish way. Anywho..

JPs without Wes... Wouldn't actually advance the plots or anything, mostly just random bits of chat that may or may not be in the present time of the RP.

... So for stuff when Wes isn't about during a JP, on such rare cases, or when a Wes JP isn't scheduled but we are bored and want to anyway. Such like that. M'yes.

It's okay for you guys to JP without me, especially in situations where a GM isn't needed like chatting and hanging out or preparation scenes. When GMness is required, Tiffany is the ship's emergency backup GM, since her character is the next highest ranking after Hanako.

Hmm, I suppose I should hold back the major plot development til the Firday and Sat JPs then. Tonight's JP should probably be searching for Black Spiral or maybe some research into their past.
