Well, looks like I'm not the one to talk to about the Pirate RP anymore.

Rine's now the Plot GM and I'm not, since I erased my dead topics on the Pirate fourm without informing anyone.

Rine, I hope you know what you'll be doing.

Given Carthage base's location, we would be more then happy to offer a safe haven and trading market to pirates, once we're operational. Gotta love us some pirates!

BTW, the warhorse class could be easily converted into a pirate ship..

I've already got a ship for the plot, so I need crew? Other than that, if anyone wants to RP on Halna, they are more than welcome. It's a free port after all, so any fringe elements are more than welcome to set up shop there, just send me a message. Getting good trade going there between various groups would make it feel more vibrant.

Rine, can you put a lot of time into this? You''ve only had four or five posts of your own since September, and before that you hadn't posted since January ...

I've had the time, just stopped caring about the rp when noone joined and I ran out of Solo-Jelan posts to do. And with no RPs, there was no point in checking the site, and thus, no reason to post.

(If you're still interested in the pirate rp, check the forum and post in the OOC thread)

Rine, is anything that was before in this thread of any use to you whatsoever? Do you need more advice, more help figuring out your premise or anything like that?

Nope, this thread is pretty much useless to me, honestly I don't see why it was posted here in the first place but...

This is taken out of the Star Army Communication Network. I'm not sure if you can view it, so, I am quoting:

Wes said:
STAR ARMY COMMAND
HEADQUARTERS, KYOTO, YAMATAI

1. Members of the following species are eligible to serve in the Star Army of Yamatai:
  • Nekovalkyrja NH-27 (recommended for combat arms)
  • Nekovalkyrja NH-29 (recommended for all positions)
  • Nepleslians (recommended for non-combat jobs) until YE 30
  • Yamataian NH-22 (recommended for admin and technical jobs)
2. Members of all other species should seek immediate upgrades to one of the above species. Most Star Army ships, bases, and Star Fortresses should have the capability to provide upgrade services. Failure to obey these orders will result in disciplinary action. Nepleslians have until YE 30 to upgrade.

3. Nepleslians and members of species not included in section one who wish to join the Star Army of Yamatai may apply for a free upgrade. Nepleslians, for instance, would have to upgrade to Yamataians during the recruiting process.

4. Other species may permitted with permission on a case by case basis per soldier.

Signed,

Ketsurui Yui
Mistress of the Star Army.

This caused significant disturbances after it came to be known. It was most profoundly felt in the 3rd XF (From Henry Chen's perspective), the Yamataian Senate and the Sakura plotship in regard to Miles Gunn, their Nepleslian Science Officer.

Ah, yeah, didn't see that. I can see that encouraging a few to jump to piracy if they aren't particularly loyal, but I still see more of a draw from the washouts from the SAY or Neplisians, and various criminals.

BTW: If you wish to discuss the pirate RP itself, please go to the pirate forum and post in the OOC thread there. Thank you.

*twitches visably*

I wish you'd stop playing the woe is me card.

Just sayin'

I know it's hard to GM something, but we just gotta take our hits and keep on trucking. If you want to help the pirate, contribute as any other player would do.

Where are you, oh pirate dudes?

Well, there's my good friend Concerto, and Millia, but otherwise, pirate involvement in the SARP is limited.

What we could really use is some organized pirate/privateer/mercantile factions, so that our pirates would have the resources for weaponry that could hold its own against military-grade stuff.

Think like the factions in EV Nova - without the support of the various pirate organizations, pirates wouldn't have the weaponry to take on the Feds.

Oh pirate dudes, besides the two that started posting recently, ended up being me and Zakalwe after the Cora fiasco, and really, my interest in the rp as a whole has faltered immensly.

So yeah, thats where I've been.

Thats actually one of the reasons I made CSEIA (aside from my love of evil geniuses and mad scientists I mean). SARP seemed to lack an important niche, a corporate entity to arm all those warlords, freedom fighters, and criminal groups. Criminal organizations are unreliable, since they usually sell only relatively basic equipment, and come with the very high risk of getting backstabbed. Legitimate corporations would be out of the question too, since they usually have the law looking of their shoulders. While the riskiest choice, a universally neutral corporations be able to provide the best products to the criminal underworld while still making a tidy legitimate profit on the side. And at the moment, CSEIA seems to have a monopoly on the sort of thing. (CSIEA: The Solution in Search of a Problem.â„¢)

But if these pirate plotships keep crashing, I may actually have to turn them over to (*shrudder*) completely legitimate work. That means no more testing narcotics and mind control technology on prisoners, and no more feeding people to failed genetic engineering experiments! And what the heck are we supposed to do with the stockpile of orbital bombardment weapons? Wipe the surface off Jaspis or someth--

*Pauses*

On second thought, take your time with the whole plotship thing. CSEIA is going to go subjugate a barbarian species in the mean time.

Yar. that sounds like a fine plan ta me. now where did i leave my cutlass

Would it be possible for a mutinous captain and crew take their ship with them? I'm thinking about a smaller ship, with a similar or smaller crew complement to a Sakura (but a little less cutting-edge), where the initial mutineers would have a realistic chance of convincing enough of their comrades to join them to achieve a majority. Could it happen with the right (or wrong, depending on how you look at it) captain and crew, or would PANTHEON and the ship's AI be able to stop this from happening?

I know the whole "Nekos and Yamataians Only" business is all said and done, but there are any number of other possible reasons for a mutiny.
