[Plot Ad] The Most Dangerous Game.

Hey all. I am trying to breathe a little fresh life into the Kohanian race, so I am going to be starting a short term plot for anyone interested in participating.

The premise will be that the Kohanians have begun to be hunted, killed, and skinned to make things like the Kohanian Fur Coats that are sold on the open market. Well, they're not happy about it, and have brought the news to the Avatar himself, who has spoken with the heads of the Kohanian ruling families. With help, they are putting together a force to hunt down the poachers.

The main portion of this force will be made up of the Avatar's Templar, holy warriors who augment their unarmed combat with elemental magic, and the Knights of the Silver Fang, Kohana's main military force, made up of members of all the clans and some of the humans on the planet including Nepleslians.

I would prefer that this plot's weapons rely more on the melee sort, with ranged weapons coming in the varieties of bows, crossbows, and/or primative flintlocks.

Also, I am entertaining the idea of allowing characters to be made with a focus on being mage like, summoners, or ritualists depending on the interest in these sorts of characters, and how well the bio sheet is written for one.

What kind of psycho would try to hunt Kohanians with melee weapons? I imagine that a commercial (non-sporting) hunter would want to do it Sarah Palin style by roaming around shooting from a helicopter.

Getting the pelts would be done for money. More pelts means more income, so the hunters, if they're able, will use the most efficient, easiest, and safest methods.

And Wes has just stumbled upon the most dangerous and challenging part of this plot.

Poachers will not be using melee as primary weapons, while those trying to catch the poachers do not have access to the guns that the poachers will be using.

I want to see the creative ways that the players of this plot catch and deal with foes that are better equipped than them. I want to see those guerrilla tactics in action.

I was just observing that a poacher trying to melee with Kohanians would likely have a rather short career.

If Ewoks can fight off the Empire, big beefy Kohanians certainly have a chance against Nepleslian poachers. A properly aimed crossbow bolt could certainly take out a hovering helicopter's gunman.

One thing to remember is that while the poachers can buzz around shooting targets...they can't get the pelts (and thus the money they need to operate on Kohania) unless they land to pick them up.

I suspect this is where the poachers will be most vulnerable, when recovering the bodies/fur.

Who said there would be only Nepleslian poachers? :D (In fact, I'd think the pelts would be worth more in other systems. Maybe Elysia needs a new style? :p)

Elysian Merchant: "My lady, we have a nice new selection of fur coats and other pelted articles."

Elysian Noblewoman: "What is the difference from your normal wares?"

Elysian Merchant: "These pelts are of Kohanian stock my lady, if you give the garment a sniff, you can smell the native innocence of the underdeveloped race."

Elysian Noblewoman : *sniffs the cuff of the extravagantly colored coat.* "My, you seem to be correct. I'll take it."

Yeah Nova, I wasn't planning on having them all be Nepleslian. There have to be others who are trying to make a quick buck by doing a little killing, and then selling those ill gotten gains to those far away from Kohana.

Elysia would be the biggest buyer, I thought. Either that or Yamatai.

And wes, you're right, they would be at their most vulnerable when coming down to get the pelts, but the poaching trade is also just getting started. It's at the stage where the people are starting to realize that more people are disappearing then just to Mokoi, and they are missing during the day, which means it can't be attacks from the shadowcreatures.

Elysians aren't prone to wearing furs, in point of fact.

Garish clothing shows arrogance, which though very common in Elysians, is considered a severe character flaw and generally exhibited in more subtle ways. Like treating everyone lower than you like worms. In as polite a manner as possible.

Humility and grace are great virtues in Elysia. Or more appropriately, the ability to convincingly feign humility and grace.

This however is a thread about the Kohanian plot idea, which I approve of greatly. If time allows I may make a character for it.

Yamatai, on the other hand, LOVES fur clothing, fur blankets, etc.

There's definitely a huge market, where supply strains to meet demand...so Kohanian pelts will fetch good prices.

I'm liking this plot idea.

I'm also liking the idea of Non material or magic, whether simplistic things like slight of hand to full blown religious rituals. I'd would enjoy taking part in your plot good sir and or madam.

Well, Driker, if you want to take part in it, I welcome you with open arms. Now that the term is over for me, I can get things started with this. I just need one more person to get involved, along with Scot's character, and we can get things started off. I need at least two 'main' characters who are given the information about the poachers, and then more can sort of straggle in as we roll on.

And just so you know, I am a Sir. Sir James. =D

Hey, just a notice to all those lurking in the wings wondering when this is going to take off, soon.

And this isn't going to be game designer soon, we're talking about within the next week I am going to start laying the groundwork, so if you have interest in participating, gimmie a shout with a character wiki, or even just an idea for a character.

Wes PMed me with reasonable cause to start the plot now, since he mentioned that there were now a small group of Reds out there poaching the Kohanians and I am saying that we're not going to take it lying down.

So if you're interested in some high action, medieval/steam punk setting stuff with strong hand to hand combat undertones, let me know because we're gonna hit this hard and fast.

I was wondering if this was dead or not, "Swift River" wasn't sure where to put it in the Kohanian character wiki so I never got around to doing that.

Hey, just jumping in here real quick before math class to let everyone interested, or involved (Scot), know that the first post is up. So if you have a Kohanian you've been wanting to make to put into a high adventure style plot of a more medieval fantasy style, now's your chance!

Only 19.95 while supplies last. Space is limited...

Hi James, would a Phod work in your plot? He'd be treated as an outsider of course, and I'd give him a reason to be there.

You are welcome to create a Phod and put him in the plot. As you said, you have a reason for bringing him in, which is good.

As for his being treated as an outsider...well...Maybe. There are some things I have been holding close guard over that might make a Phod more welcome than say, a nepleslian, but that is in the future, once I get an exploration team together to send into the wintery north....

TLDR version: Of course, Yangfan!
